I have always found "enemies" to be a waste of energy and an unnecessary burden for my mind as well. I didn't need any, back before I found God, and I don't intend for that to change now that I have.
But, if I had them, then I would pray for the Will of God to be done in their lives, since that is after all the best I can do for anyone really. undecided
I refuse to waste my time praying for muttleylaff and I definitely do not waste my energy on him.

Kobojunkie:
So how would you interpret the meaning in Jesus's Statement below?

Matthew 21 vs 22
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
22. If you believe , you will receive whatever you ask in prayer.”
Do you receive whatever you ask for because you believe? Lucky you. Remember I said:

budaatum:
Christianity in Nigeria is "Lord send someone", so I shall accuse you of being Nigerian!

In the sentiment of removing forests from one's eye first, O Lord God, do not send someone. Please send me!
That's my prayer.

In science (as in, the use of the senses) one tends to test ones beliefs so one can stop believing because one now knows. Same with the prayer statement above. If I had believed it, I would have tested it so I know, but I've never had the need, least not since I thought like a child and spoke like a child and believed like a child. When I grew up I put childish things away, is what I think of it. The unbelieving atheist buda that God created would say, "fuq off" if told to believe, so God came with evidence to convince buda.

But, as I said, I personally do not pray, because, "who the fuq am I to pressume to know the best desires to demand of God". The point being, God provides whatever I require before I know I need it. That prayer of mine is already answered so I know.

Kobojunkie:
You don't fear God? undecided
You don't fear the one who is able to destroy both your body and your soul? undecided
You don't fear Him even though somewhere in scriptures we are told the fear of God is the beginning of God? undecided
Don't be silly, God will not destroy me because God is not stupid like that! You should know humans arr not made for scripture nor is scripture a thing to be feared. Besides, it's the beginning. Like the primary one of scripture. By primary two, one must begin to understand scripture instead of tremble like a demon!

Kobojunkie:
How did/do you face your devil on the mountain? undecided
Simply by understanding "It is written". So I read.

Kobojunkie:
I get what you mean!
I'm glad.

As far as praying for others, including my enemies, I find myself praying for God's Will in their lives after all I don't know their deepest desires or most urgent needs.
I find that I don't have enemies. No, I lie, I have one, or rather, one and a half. Muttleylaff being the one and Olaadegbu the half. But because goodness and mercy follows me everywhere I go they are not up to two. However, my sins are plenty so God does not allow me to serve penance praying for anyone, not even for myself. I'm given a small task to do instead. Not to solve "their deepest desires or most urgent needs" since I'm no Messiah, but that which God accomplishes.

Now, I honestly don't believe that Satan meddles with us as much as we love to claim. I mean He is after all a servant of God, so He will do that which God commands Him to do.
First, let us be clear on "believe". Please know that what I hear when it is used is, " I don't really know nor do I have any evidence whatsoever but
currently choose to hold this as so pending evidence so I may know". Basically, you are hypothesising, as in, providing an explanation or understanding made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation you intend to do.

That said, the devil being that which makes humans do evil - if you'd accept that as a basic definition s must exist or humans would not do evil just as no God would likely mean no good. When I steal, the devil inside me made me steal, and when I do not love my enemies, the devil in me stops me loving my enemies, but if Christ is inside me I will not steal I'll have no enemies and the devil fails.

Kobojunkie:
I don't believe in the "devil" because I know what it really is, so I instead focus all that energy instead on Jesus Christ who after all will take care of it all. I mean, have you read Psalm 91? There is practically nothing to fear when God Himself is on your side.
I don't believe in God so I'd hardly believe in the devil I would have thought. And I don't fear, not even God, Olaadegbu would confirm if nothing else about me.

One does not focus any energy on devils, kobojunkie, not after one has faced it on the mountain and sent it scuttling away, but that thing stops "millions of other Nigerians who are desperate for God but not certain why they are still unable to reach the Father" is the devil at work, and those God sends must know how to overcome it, hence, know the enemy, says I.

As for the Psalms. In my atheist days, I saw many of them as the insane dribblings of a demented person. If David trully wrote them, perhaps he should have obeyed God's will a little bit more instead of reaping the wages of his sins! Psalm 10 for instance starts with, Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? I can almost hear Christ say, "Seek, David! And stop being damn lazy! God foes not hide!" The rest of it though, is what I mean when I say, "tables are prepared before me and my enemies", fulfilled, with lots and lots and lots of evidence, because, as I said, I must see so non-believing me knows.

I don't think I'm putting this so it's easily understood, so sorry if I'm not clear. I'm told I go yoda and I can't seem to help it.

I've been wondering how to respond to you because I'm not exactly certain if you think greed is corruption. So, let me deal with what you call greed.

Have you ever heard of Adam Smith? He is known as the Father of Capitalism and wrote a book called The Wealth of Nations from which the following is very well known quotation which I hope explains itself.

Kobojunkie:
Not suggesting that God's Will is man's will but we know that when a man lives in submission to God's Will, then God does want for a man to have that which he, man, asks for, and He does grant man the desires of his, man's heart.
I have to admit that it is must be different for everyone. I come from an atheistic background, see, so was not a prayer to God for desires person nor a submit to God person since there were no Gods to pray to as far as I was concerned. But when Jesus grabbed me and I looked back, I saw that at every step of my life, everything I really needed was there for me through no design of my own. So, my relationship with God is not as my desire fulfiler - since God seems to want to fulfil my needs even when I stuck two fingers up to God - but as pointer of me in the wisest direction to go God.

I still don't pray because, personally, who the fuq am I to pressume to know the best desires to demand of God - I just let God make use of me instead knowing tables are prepared before me and my enemies and my neighbours to the Glory of the Lord God Almighty.

Kobojunkie:
And the very same God is more than able to reach His own wherever and whenever they are. It happened to me, so I believe that it can happen to millions of other Nigerians who are desperate for God but not certain why they are still unable to reach the Father, even after so many years of hoping and believing.
As you may have understood from the above, God reached me where I was, but if you doubt my atheism, go back before 2019 - though you might suspect I got on a fence way back. You'd in fact notice atheism in all my posts if you look carefully since God never purged me of what I know. I do not believe, for instance, and like seeing evidence so I know.

Yes, it "can happen to millions of other Nigerians who are desperate for God but not certain why they are still unable to reach the Father". Unfortunately, as I say, if satan can meddle in the Garden of Eden why wouldn't satan meddle in peoples' minds and make them unable to reach the Father?

"Hoping and believing" does not cut muster, because, as I've said earlier, the work is plenty and arduous, and those who are capable of doing the work are few, because many are far too busy praying for their desires instead of praying for the needs of their neighbours, and definitely not for the needs of their enemies, that one would think the Law was "Love thyself"!

Some, however, [must] go further and put on full armor and stand against the devil’s schemes.

Sorry I chopped off the rest but I have the feeling you already know if I have studied Paul.

Would you have any data for those who have died not from corona .. like from flu only?
hi
It would probably be damn hard to separate current seasonal flu deaths from coronavirus deaths, but a fair deduction is to use figures from last year or the one before for flu deaths and see how they compare to the latest number of deaths.

Anecdotally speaking however, it would be rather odd if all the deaths recorded in New York, for instance, were your normal flu deaths. There's no doubt more people died this year than is normal just going by funeral director records, if nothing else.

Of course not all religions are bad. For example I love Sikhism because of the peace they preach. However, it does not mean the religion is authentic.

Most Muslims are good people too, but their scripture preach a mixture of peace and violence.
You might love Sikhism because you know much less about it than you know about Islam, because Sikhism too has been subject to the exact same criticism you have against Islam.

Thing is Scripture does not preach, as you allege. All scripture is words in a book, and to be honest, no one exactly literally obeys what they read in it or no scripture reader would steal or lie or covet their neighbours wife or goods, yet, here you are talking as if if it is written in scripture that "go and kill", it literally means, go and kill.

Surely, only believers think that way, so might I be right in calling you a believer instead of an understander?

you may be right too.

Although what I meant is similar. Once you stopped believing and start criticising/questioning even your own religion scripture without biase, you start deviating. Either you cherry pick or abandon the religion completely
Cherry pick is what I am constantly accused of.
I call it understanding, which is very different to merely believing. It did not make me abandon religion but embrace it by turning me from the atheist I was into the understander I now am.

By the way, religion is one of the things that tends to limit most to only two option like good or bad, God or satan, and "cherry pick or abandon" as you have here. A deeper understanding of things tends to show that there are usually more than two options.

Starlord
I might take a break after this one.

You should be grateful you live in a post-Dawad world and not in the pre-Dawah world.

In the pre-dawah world, you would have no texts to read to dawah your mind and would have had to believe the little you know, but in the post-dawah world see yourself with something to dawah on.

Dawah means, teaching a proper understanding of Islam. Many have a misunderstanding.

All religions are human understandings, but that doesn't make them all bad.

Take your religion here, though I'm certain you'd disagree its a religion, so lets call it an ideology. The fact that you are human does not in any way make it less worthy of consideration.

Intelligent people will judge it on its merit alone and not on you being human.

I disagree. It would be more accurate to say one deviates from religion as understood by the majority. An example is Jesus Christ. In his time, he deviated so far from accepted religion that they strung him up on a cross and called him God in remorse.

What I've found is immediately you begin to use your brain, you stop believing and begin to seek understanding or you abandon the effort completely.
