descarado: This was a agreement on paper he has to come and sign. This lie amuses me. There was no agreement on paper, obviously, since he, Zelensky, didn't agree to what dump wrote on paper. What was on paper was what dump wanted, and which Zelensky could not agree to, and therefore came to negotiate, but dump wasn't in negotiation mood and just wanted Zelensky to agree and sign. Zelensky could not sign what dump wanted, and rightly shouldn't. He has no mandate to, and would have been slaughtered by Ukraine legislators if he had signed it. But I guess the art of the deal is to pressure those you should negotiate with to sign a deal that's unfavorable to them and then renege on the deal when it suits you like dump always does. Only those who oppose Ukraine would call it an agreement. It was extortion. |

Funny people think Putin has no opposition, like they all one party with the same policies. Vladimir Putin is facing a fierce backlash from some of his most war-hungry supporters after publicly cosying up to Donald Trump.
Russian warmongers are furious over Putin’s plan to seek US investment for rare earth metals and aluminium, with accusations he is giving away precious Russian assets.
Ukrainian commentator Denis Kazansky said: ‘For three years, Russian fools were told that they were fighting and dying so that Ukraine and its resources would not go to the damned West.
'In the fourth year of the war, it turned out that they were dying so that the resources of the captured territories would be given to Trump.’

Foreign Affairs › Re: Goodbye Bogus Separation Of Church And State by budaatum: 3:35am On Feb 28, 2025 |
MadamExcellency: Why do people interpret the separation of Church and State in such an awkward way? It should simply mean that the government should not establish an official religion or favor one religion over another, and that it protects individuals' rights to practice their religion freely. It doesn't "should", but actually is. And those who don't interpret it as you have, want to promote their own religion and ensure other religions don't have a standing. As for America being built on one religion, the historical fact is actually that many ran from Europe where certain state religions were being imposed and people were being forced to worship the state god, to America where they hoped freedom of religious practice will be the norm with no state imposition. First Amendment Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Some are now trying to rewrite the constitution and roll the clock back to the dark ages, but I am certain there will be strong opposition. |

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Feb. 27 that he could not believe he had called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a "dictator."
Trump made the comment at a briefing with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House.
"Did I say that? I can't believe I would say that," Trump responded when asked whether he still considers Zelensky a "dictator." |

descarado: NEW: Rudy Guiliani just scored a MASSIVE victory against the lawfare forces that tried to extort $150 million from him for fighting the stolen 2020 election.
Guiliani will now get to keep his Manhattan apartment, his condo in Palm Beach, and his personal belongings. According to court filings, he has fully satisfied the judgment against him.
That case should've never been brought. It was lawfare to take down one of the most courageous & loyal MAGA men out there. You make it sound like he never paid for the harm he caused. In January, Ms Moss and Ms Freeman agreed to forgo a trial and allow Giuliani to keep his belongings in exchange for "compensation and his promise not to ever defame us".

malali: In USD its 2.6 million at zero down. You will pay taxes, property insurance and maintenance of the property for the life of the mortgage. Mortgage is Neo-slavery. You cant save up fast enough and you will not pay double the price. Do you know that you are just going to work to afford where to sleep ? And when you are done paying the mortgage, your property taxes will be assessed at the estimated value of the house currently which would be at least double what you started with. Even if you decided to sell after 30 years. You will still buy the same house or less, so no real gain in your initial purchase if you account for inflation. Stop arguing with me, i do this for a living. Mortgage is number one scam in America/UK. There is no scarcity of land to build, its an artificially created scarcity Hard not to argue with a person who doesn't know you don't pay 3m on a 1m mortgage at current interest rates, or who does not know you'd likely pay off a 1 million mortgage a lot quicker if you earned a million a year. Without a mortgage, and unless you've saved up, you will pay your landlord a lot more, since he too will "pay taxes, property insurance and maintenance of the property", and he'd get that from the rent you pay plus profit. And at the end of 30 years, he'd still have property, which likely would have increased in value, while you'd have nothing. Do note that you don't have to buy a million dollar house just because you earn a million a year, though I don't see why you wouldn't. There's lots of half a million houses you can buy that you will not "just going to work to afford where to sleep" if you earn that much. That said, I am not telling you to get a mortgage. It's your million, so spend it how you please. |
Politics › Re: Jamaica Seeks Nigerian Talent To Fill 400 Key Positions by budaatum: 2:27am On Feb 27, 2025 |
malali: And you think a mortgage is free. Do you know a 1 million dollar house costs more than 3 million with mortgage ? Tell me why you want to pay $3 million for a house that only cost $1 million ? A mortgage is obviously not free, since you must pay interest. And no, I don't know a "1 million dollar house costs more than 3 million with mortgage", and I in fact know it doesn't. The interest rate on a variable mortgage in UK is currently about 7%, the high end. Total payback over 25 years with zero deposit at £7,067.79 a month is £2,120,337.59, which is a million less the $3 million you claim, and that's without a deposit, which is required for a mortgage. You'd need to be paying £10,018.77 a month at 11.3% interest to get anywhere close to pay back what you think (£3,005,631.90), and the fact you don't know this is likely why mortgages scare you. The reason you take a mortgage is you can't save up that much quick enough if you are paying a landlord rent at the same time. And the house you are buying with a mortgage will likely appreciate in the time you pay it off and make you much more money. You may want to calculate mortgage payments here so you are better informed. Note it defaults to the current interest rate of 4.5%. |

The European Union is a different case than Canada, a different kind of case, they've really taken advantage of us in a different way.
"They don't accept our cars, they don't accept essentially our farm products. They use all sorts of reasons why not, and we accept everything from them, and we have about a $300bn (£237bn) deficit with the European Union."
He added: "The European Union, it was formed in order to screw the United States.
"Let's be honest - the European Union was formed in order to screw the United States, that's the purpose of it, and they've done a good job of it, but now I'm president.
Asked what he will do if the EU retaliates, Mr Trump said: "They can't, I mean, they can try, but they can't."

It's not like we've not been here before. Parallels with the past Unlike the men in the forest on the Kursk border, they follow the news. Donald Trump's diplomatic and strategic bombshells, starting at the Munich security conference only 10 days ago, reminds them of the infamous deal Britain's prime minister Neville Chamberlain made at Munich in 1938, forcing Czechoslovakia to capitulate to the demands made by Adolf Hitler.
"It's similar," Maxsym said. "The West gives an aggressor an opportunity to occupy some territories. The West is making a deal with the aggressor, with the United States in the role of Great Britain." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2xngznyego Zelensky might need to hold elections before he can sign this American deal, or risk it being called unconstitutional after he leaves office. |

IjeBos: We have to wait to see the agreement. But, Zelensky is in a corner and has little leverage. Also, I don't see any American boots on the ground. America doesn't generally do things like this as we don't want to be seen as exploiting people or being mercenaries. Too transactional. I believe the US and Ukraine would have reached a deal on minerals no matter what. That is one of the reasons why the US/Biden thought Ukraine was strategically important.
Think about being a Ukrainian today. How did you view Americans before Trump took over and then now? That sentiment changes how any American on the ground will be received. The bold is what's changed under dump. Usually, they'd go to a country and rape them, but this time are being upfront about it. Sending American troops to Ukraine will likely turn out as sending troops to Afghanistan. Hopefully, Europe will advise on the deal. |
