Onucs:Fear in your mind is the road that leads them to your pocket and your bank account, which is their destination. And as long as it keeps working it will keep being used on the gullible. |
Some of you must have grown up watching your fathers beating your mothers and think that's the way to go and can not consider better ways. And this in a world where many parents are learning that beating does not make their children respect them. Fearing being beaten does not mean I respect you, is what some of you fail to realise. It in fact shows you are a small bully if anything, but I guess you'd learn as you grow some.

Some of us are currently reading How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, by Walter Rodney. I personally have a problem with the book, as it implies that Africa's development was up to the Europeans, and not we Africans ourselves. Same here blaming Islam for stopping Africa's development when it is we Africans who are failing to develop ourselves. Both point to our being irresponsible, expecting others to do for us what we are failing to do for ourselves. Like babies I guess, who must wait to be fed and have their bums wiped, and like those who expect their daily bread to fall from heaven like manna while they sit lazily on their asses. May we Africans grow up and become responsible for ourselves, instead of continuously blaming our lack of development and progress on others.

grandstar:I'm going to need evidence of that "fat profit" please, considering the huge energy and loan costs. I'll look for their annual report, but if you have it already I'd be grateful. |
grandstar:Really? I guess they can reduce staff pay so they don't lose. They should also reduce their electric bill and use free resources so they can give it away free. |
Aemmyjah:Science does not follow. It is human beings who use their senses in a scientific way by adhering to the scientific method instead of making things up. |
Aemmyjah:Science is not a god! Science is simply a method of using one's senses (heart and soul and mind and being) to ask and knock and seek for knowledge.

I don't trust sites that have the below!

Dangote should just sell shares in his refinery to raise the outstanding 1.5billion dollars and pay CBN. Just know that he gets to determine his price when his refinery produces petrol. |
bantilosha:I don't trust you because you obviously made this up with no evidence whatsoever. |
bemeruca:Encouraging, si? Don't forget to inform your base that I funded Hamas too while you are at it, and told the immigrants to migrate. |
CandyOps:Last I checked, this thread was not about winning elections but about teenage marriage, and no one is claiming religion is the reason for election victory, or I'd be wasting my time being Obidient. The op's assumption that the North dictates the nation's politics is flawed and unaddressed by me. It's obvious Tinubu is not from the North, nor were Obasanjo and Jonathan. Read my first response so you can perhaps properly determine how naive I might be. https://www.nairaland.com/7890227/why-southern-ladies-delay-marriage#126622273 |
Dtruthspeaker:Show me just one of those "everyone". That should be easy enough. |
basilico:How about not letting those immigrants die at the border? Do let me know when there's a judgement.
|
basilico:Are you being temporarily against dump now? |
Dtruthspeaker:No one is asking you to prove God exists because we all know you can't prove what you merely believe. As for your reasoning, I'd leave you mulling your own words so you consider what you imply and mean.
|
Aemmyjah:So, a group of people who worship a stone or a book are fulfilling the need put in them by their creator the book or the stone? https://www.nairaland.com/7707569/how-gods-made/1#123565636
|
basilico:Ah, come on. You can't be giving up on your kraken big reveal can you, after those who sold it to you gave up a year ago?
|
Aemmyjah:So, do those who give worship or devotion to the god called Obatala give you evidence to a reality that a god called Obatala exists? And do the Celts who give worship or devotion to their god called Eiocha also give you evidence to a reality that a God called Obatala exists because of their spiritual need? How about those who, because of their supposed spiritual need, give worship or devotion to a god called Teapot? Do they also give evidence to a reality that a God called Teapot exists? And do those who give worship or devotion to a god called spaghetti monster also give you evidence that a god called Spaghetti Monster exists too? |
Aemmyjah:Evolution does not say anything about the origin of the earth. |
Aemmyjah:Are you suggesting that all the gods in all those myths and stories existed too? |
Aemmyjah:None whatsoever, unless you limit yourself to believing any one myth, since your book says the earth was formless and void and in a state of chaos before your god organised the said chaos.
|
Dtruthspeaker:I guess the logical question to ask you then is, who created your god? Unless you want to of course claim your god is not on earth, to wit, where exactly is this god of yours? |
Dtruthspeaker:Actually, people think and they believe and do not bother considering the available evidence, which shows no evidence of a creator apart from those created by their fellow human beings. |
Aemmyjah:That's true. In Yoruba land before the Bible, Obatala made the universe and created life and the earth. In ancient Greece, Hesiod, in his Theogony begins with Chaos, a yawning nothingness out of which emerged Gaia (the Earth) and some other primary divine beings: Eros (Love), the Abyss (the Tartarus), and the Erebus. The Koreans claim the world was created by the god Mireuk. While the Chinese say in the beginning was a huge egg containing chaos, a mixture of yin and yang — female-male, aggressive-passive, cold-hot, dark-light, and wet-dry. Within this yin and yang was Pan Gu, who broke forth from the egg as the giant who separated chaos into the many opposites, including Earth and sky. Ancient Egypt claims that in the beginning, only a chaotic water existed called Nun. The sun god Ra appeared from a lotus flower and gave light to the universe. Ra created Shu, the air god, and Tefnut, the goddess of moisture. Those two gave birth to the sky goddess Nut and the earth god Geb. From them, the physical universe was formed. The Celts claim that Once upon a time, there was no time and that was when there also was no gods and no man walked the surface of the land. But there was the sea, and where the sea met the land, a mare was born, white and made of sea-foam. And her name was Eiocha.” Today, some claim a big bang done it in fact, though those who claim so don't tend to worship the bang. So yes, people everywhere gave credit and worship to one who they were convinced was the maker of the universe, life and the earth. Just that people everywhere gave that credit to the gods they believe in just like you do, since all the gods could not have created the same universe and life and the earth in the various diverse ways we are told they created. And some have learnt from all the myths and grown past that baby stage of believing. FRANCISTOWN:Incidentally, you can "give mannequins the ability to walk, reason, act, talk". Just unfortunately, not on their own exactly, and to a limited extent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJjXq6Pj0_c?si=Gv5mESQeKktMTdNG |
Aemmyjah:Pity the same common sense knows nothing about the Bible, or perhaps it's because black man wrote about Ikemefuna and white wrote the Bible? You'd need more than sense that is common to dig deep enough to know, I guess. |
After all, I can't be expected to load 3500 Naira BUA cement in Benin and then sell for 3500 in Lagos, considering transport and the toll paid along the way. |
Aemmyjah:Does Ikemefuna exist? Yes. China Achebe's Things Fall Apart provides written evidence that Ikemefuna was made to live with Okonkwo who later chopped off Ikemefuna's head. In the same book, the tortoise named himself All of Us, so only he could eat the banquet provided by the gods. |
