Newbiee: Please forget about all these blackmails to force us to agree to same sex marriage. It will never see the light of the day in Nigeria. It is against our culture, tradition and religion. We may be divided in some other areas, but we are united in saying no to same sex marriage in Nigeria. The west is trying to force it down our throat through whatever means.
Culture and tradition are not static.
A century and a half ago, a white slave owner would have have it found it very amusing if you suggested a black man could someday be a US president.
At a point in our history, it was acceptable to murder twins, enslave others and make human sacrifices.
Now it is no longer so.
A few years ago, if you had a child out of wedlock, you would be ostracized.
No one bats an eye anymore.
Sections of the Bible support slavery, mass murder and all sorts of detestable things. But as a society, we've grown beyond some of those, so we pretend they are not there, and go along with what is presently culturally acceptable.
Cultural change doesn't happen in a blink, it takes a while.
The goal isn't for you to change and be less hostile towards gays, it's probably too late for that.
The people who will accept gays are the kids being born right now, the kids in the nursery school and those who will be born tomorrow.
A few generations ago airing a show like Big Brother would have been inconceivable. But here we are.
The next generation will be more forgiving of some of the things we condemn with such bile today.
"A scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it." ------ Max Planck
Jogunomi1: The situation that led to her having four kids before her marriage crashed was beyond control. There are also solid reasons why the marriage will never work again. She's madly in love with me. I'm older than her.
As it stands today, if she doesn't feel me in a day, she feels suicidal. I'm the reason why the marriage failed because it started in high school but I didn't woo her. Do you think we should let it lead to marriage?
czarina: seems you know something about indoor headaches... I thought it was all in my head but was having a horrible headache one evening, tried to do my massage tricks, for wia only for me to go outside and get something down the street and immediately fresh air hit me, I ressurected. What could cause this? A stuffy room? I mean I live in Jos and barely gets as hot as most places....if you have explanations I'd really appreciate!
bujebudanu1: Wow.so many reasons to back your claims.but the increase in guns handling is d main problem here. I think the force men should b employed to teach not civilians that can't handle tempers and ammunitions
The last shooting that happened in las Vegas at a bar.j think last year Re u suggesting d bartenders also should b equip with guns?
My brother, it's just that there are higher things at stake.
Terrorists have attacked with trucks, knives and even fertilizer bombs. And the solution isn't to ban these because they have other utilitarian values.
Texting and driving kills 11 teenagers DAILY in the us. Should we also ban cars and phones?
Why are the kids not protesting this?
The thing is everything is "pros/cons", and for guns, the pros outweigh the cons.
In the 20th century, alone, governments killed an estimated 262 MILLION people under their control. Six times the number of people who died in all the wars of the 20th century combined...
They even have a fancy name for it: Democide.
One notable thing many of these governments did first was to disarm their citizens.
AfflictedOne: Good morning Nairalanders , especially doctors in the house. I have a very serious case of bad mouth odour that has persisted for a long time, at least 8years.
Sometimes I have to brush as many as three to four times a day and bad enough, it will still be there.
Occasionally, I remove some yellowish smelly stuffs from my throat and after sometimes I see them again. Also of late, I have persistent headaches even without fever, even when I wake in the morning expecting to be refreshed, the ache will still be there. I don't know if these are related.
I have seen two or three doctors and normally there give me antibiotics and recommend mouthwashes. Now it is still here an am worried and depressed.
I am in my late 20s and this has affected my life in ways space will not permit me to write. I just cannot function well anywhere because I cannot talk for fear of the odour. My social life is zero, and I am almost always alone.
Please advice me if you have or know someone who has experienced this, or you are an expert or you know something I can do to be free from this. Its so bad its the only item on my new year prayer. I don't want to spend another year in this. Thank you all in anticipation.
This is a new profile, just for anonymity. Please help an afflicted brother. Thank you.
You should see a dentist instead. He's in the best position to help you.
Ask him to remove plaque from your teeth too. I believe they recommend doing it every 6 months or so.
