HealthBreaking News: The 1st Human Head Transplant Carried Out Successful In China by bumi10(op): 7:54am On Nov 18, 2017
The world has recorded yet another powerful milestone in medicine. The world's first human head transplant has been carried out on a corpse in China, according to an Italian Professor Sergio Canavero.

Dr Xiaoping Ren, who grafted a head onto the body of a monkey in 2016, carried out the operation, which took 18 hours. Italian Professor Canavero, who is the director of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group, announced the success in a press conference in Vienna.

Prof. Canavero said:

"The first human transplant on human cadavers has been done. "A full head swap between brain dead organ donors is the next stage and that is the final step for the formal head transplant for a medical condition which is imminent."

It had previously been hoped that 30-year-old Valery Spiridonov would be the first human to undergo the operation but the Russian decided he did not want to experience the surgery. Spiridonov had volunteered because he suffers from Werdnig-Hoffmann disease, which causes severe spinal muscular atrophy, and he was willing to try anything to prolong his life.

There had been an angry backlash to the potential surgery from religious groups, who said it was going against God. Spiridonov was fully prepared for the body to reject his head but it was also possible that fusing his head with another body - including the spinal cord and jugular vein - might result in never-before experienced levels of insanity.

Doctor Canavero said before the operation that he was anticipating it to be a 36-hour procedure that would involve 150 doctors and nurses.

Arthur Caplan, director of medical ethics at New York University's Langone Medical Centre, had previously said that the bodies of head transplant patients "would end up being overwhelmed with different pathways and chemistry than they are used to and they'd go crazy".

In 1970, a head transplant was successfully performed on a monkey. Well, it was sort of successful. The monkey lived, but only for eight days. The body rejected the new head and the monkey was left unable to breathe or move because the spinal cord of the head and body weren't properly connected.

Hopefully, technology has advanced enough in the past 45 years.

CelebritiesCheckout The Hilarious Definition Of The Word "Slay Queen" By Urban Dictionary by bumi10(op): 11:18am On Nov 09, 2017
To many people, the word "Slay Queen" means a lot of things. Knowing the real meaning of this word is necessitated by its numerous appearance on social medias this days. One cannot log in to a social network, be it Facebook, Twitter or Instagram without seeing the word "Slay Queen"

Well, to many people "Slay Queen" means fake girls, not so reach girls, rich girls, olosho, prostitutes, call girls, escorts etc, but Urban Dictionary has come up with a rather cynical meaning of the word "Slay Queen".

According to Urban Dictionary; Slay Queen can be described as;

1. “Girls who do not have a wealthy background but appear as if they do. They use malicious acts to attain cash, drink expensive alcohol, procure expensive cellphones. But back at home she’s a chicken chaser. You can spot them from a distance by their obnoxious and heavy rolling accent characterized by flat pronounciations of the letter “e”

2. “Young and naive girls who apparently do not date broke men. They spend hours on Snapchat and Instagram showing off things they don’t even own.”

3. “Anyone that gives people a hard time breathing because of how beautiful they look; “

Hope Urban Dictionary has spoken your mind..lol

RomanceHigh Court Remands Man To Prison For Beating His 8-month Pregnant Wife To Death by bumi10(op): 10:09am On Nov 09, 2017
Federal High Court Remands Man To Prison For Beating His 8-Month Pregnant Wife To Death

Abuja Federal High Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of Mr. Mathew Ankyoor, 37, in prison for allegedly beating his eight-month pregnant wife to death. The judge, Justice Peter Affen, adjourned the case until November 16 for the hearing of bail application filed by the defendant’s counsel, Mr. Ocheme Adama.

“Motion for bail is hereby fixed for hearing on Nov. 16. In the interim, the defendant shall be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the hearing and determination of the motion for bail,” Said the judge.

According to Daily Post, the Prosecuting Counsel, Mr. Donatus Abah, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 5, at Lugbe village, Abuja. Abah said that the defendant beat up his wife, Doosur Ankyoor, who was carrying 8-month pregnancy to death.

He said the defendant beat her severally leading to her death and that of the unborn child. The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 221, 235 and 236 of the Penal Code. Section 235 deals with preventing the child from being born, and 236 causing the death of an unborn child.

Ankyoor, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. His counsel, Adama, had prayed the court to grant bail to the defendant to enable him take care of the three children left behind by his late wife.

What do you think should be done to this guy?

CelebritiesDid Funke Akindele Lose Her Pregnancy? Why Are Fans Sympathizing With Her? by bumi10(op): 7:50am On Nov 09, 2017
What is happening? Few months ago, Funke Akindele's belly showed sign of a baby bump but recently when broadcaster Omotunde Adebowale, aka Lolo 1 recently posted a picture of herself and Funke Akindele Bello on Instagram, there was no sign of a pregnancy.

The picture shows the producer of the popular comic series Jenifa Diary, looking happy with a flat tummy, which made her fans feel she might have lost another pregnancy. Though the caption of the picture by Lolo 1 “Nothing but joy, in all things we give thanks. Party time with my home girl @funkeakindelebello,” was kind of cryptic.

Did Funke suffer a miscarriage? Or was what she was putting on hiding her pregnancy? or was there no pregnancy before? Cuz she never really admitted there was one, did she?

But whatever it is, fans have been sending in their words of encouragement to the actress. One of the fans by the name 8900uyo stated, ”Funke be strong, God will give you another one. Olu omo loruko jesu. We love you”.

While omowunmi.balogun.104, noted that there is no need for negative thinking. ”Ok the second picture of her, I said I don’t want to have a negative thought feeling pity for her.”

The actress showed off a baby bump, when her husband, Abdul Rasheed-Bello aka JJC skillz, alongside the actress friends gave her a surprise birthday party at their home in Lekki, Lagos as she clocked 40 on August 24, 2017.

Before the birthday bash, Funke pregnancy was trending on the social media.

Funke Akindele, who got married to Kehinde ‘Almaroof’ Oloyede on May 26, 2012, which was the most talked about marriage of the year, ended on July 15, 2013. The actress was reported to have also lost a pregnancy during their stay together.

But four years after the crash of her marriage, she remarried. This time, she quietly tied the knot with her current husband, rapper JJC, in the UK. In January, 2017, founder of the Mountain of Blessing and Miracle Church of Christ, Dr. Olagorioye Faleyimu, prophesied that Funke might not have children.

“A popular actress in Nollywood, Funke Akindele, who was once in the Yoruba movie industry should pray deeply so as to have children,” Faleyimu had prophesied. “Another grace she has is to marry a pastor who can fight the battle on her behalf with prayers.”

PoliticsBreaking News: Ekiti State Assembly Approves Death Penalty For Cultists by bumi10(op): 7:35am On Nov 09, 2017
Ekiti State is not smiling at crime masters at all. A bill seeking to prohibit the activities of secret cults on Tuesday scaled third reading at the Ekiti State House of Assembly. The substance of the bill, which is yet to be signed into law by the governor, is the prescription of a death penalty for those found guilty of breaching the law in that regard.

The bill also seeks that those aiding and abetting cultism would bag life imprisonment if found guilty. The new provision was an amendment to the law against cultism, enacted by Ayo Fayose during his first tenure as governor of the state. The law had provided a seven-year imprisonment for anyone convicted of cult activities, whereas those aiding and abetting the act were to be imprisoned for five years.

The bill titled, ‘Secret Cult (Abolition and Prohibition) [Amendment] Bill, 2017,’ gained the lawmakerss attention following increase in cult activities at the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti which led to the killing of students recently. Before the passage, the House Leader, Akinyele Olatunji, recalled the killings at the university due to cult activities.

“We will not allow any group to turn Ekiti into death trap area,” he said, while thanking the governor, Ayodele Fayose, for introducing the bill.

“We cannot fold our arms while some people would constitute themselves as a menace and eliminating the lives of innocent people of this state,” Speaker of the house, Kola Oluwawole, said, while making his remarks on the bill.

“It is an everlasting sorrow for someone to lose his child or relative. The bill will reshape the lives of our youth. It will ‘touch’ those who intend to join any secret cults and those who have the intention to take another person’s life.

“Those people that we are representing will have peace of mind that their lives and those of their children are safe. The bill considers very seriously the negative consequences of such action because of the irreparable loss of lives.”

What is wrong with this country and its citizens, especially those in the health care sector? Is it that if you don't have money, you are automatically a lesser human or what? How can people be treated this way? Isn't it enough that if you even have your money, these so called health workers will as well treat you like a poo.

Those that has been to general hospital for critical or minor treatment will attest to this. A Twitter user @iamfatdon shared this post just few minutes about about how a hospital ambulance dropped off the a very sick man on the road with drips and medication, citing that their was no bed in the hospital.

Crime56 Years Old Nigerian Mother Of 4 Bags 10yrs Imprisonment For Drug Trafficking by bumi10(op): 2:18pm On Nov 01, 2017
A 56-year-old mother of four, Oluwayemisi Owolabi, was sentenced to 10 years in jail yesterday by a Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos, over cocaine trafficking. Justice Rilwan Aikawa convicted and sentenced Owolabi after she pleaded guilty to one-count charge of drug trafficking preferred against her by the National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

While urging the court to convict and sentence Owolabi, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Abu, reviewed the fact of the case, tendered the convict’s harmonised Ecowas passport, an e-ticket and boarding pass as evidence. Other evidence tendered before the court include three written statements of the convict, two request of scientific aid form, a drug analysing report, two evidence pouches, two transparent pouches containing the drug, two scientific report of the drug, and a sealed brown envelope, which were admitted as exhibits.

The convict’s lawyer, Morenike Ogunleye, pleaded: “The convict is a first time offender, and she is sober. She is a mother of four children, who is single-handedly taking care of them, as she has separated from her husband.” The judge asked the prosecutor, Ibrahim, for the punishment for the crime committed as stipulated by the NDLEA Act, and the prosecutor said it is life imprisonment.

Justice Aikawa ruled:

“I have listened to the plea made on her behalf by the counsel, and also listened to the prosecutor that she has no record of crime. I have to consider both her plea and what the law says about the crime.

“Consequently, I hereby sentence her to 10 years imprisonment, starting from the day of her arrest,” which was in May 19 at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, during outward clearance of Qatar Airways flight to Saudi Arabia, with 330 grammes of cocaine.

SportsLeicester City Sacks Craig Shakespeare As Coach by bumi10(op): 5:05pm On Oct 17, 2017
Leicester City have sacked manager Craig Shakespeare just four months after he signed a three-year deal to take the job on a permanent basis after Ranieri departed from the club.

The Foxes are third from bottom in the Premier League and have not won any of their past six league matches. Shakespeare, 53, succeeded title winner Claudio Ranieri in February, initially on a temporary basis.

After steering the Foxes away from trouble to finish in 12th place, he was given the job permanently in June. Shakespeare won eight of his 16 games in charge last season, and led the club to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Rumors has it that the 1-1 draw with West Brom on Monday prompted his departure. The last time Leicester went six league matches without a victory, Ranieri was sacked - nine months after leading them to the title.

Former Leicester player Gary Lineker highlights his dissatisfaction with some of the decisions made by the Leicester owners

The Department of State Services (DSS) have barred journalists from covering the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Operatives of the DSS deployed at the entrance of the courtroom said they are working under directives to ensure that journalists are kept outside.

Nnandi Kanu is absent again in court today and only God knows what will be the outcome of the proceedings today considering that those high class politicians who signed for his bail (Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe) could be arrested and thrown into prison.

According to Naij.com, the operative dress in plain clothes and according to them;

"We are working under directives." A second operative who also spoke on the matter at about: 8.57am said: "We will allow you people when in at the appropriate time, when we get the directive to do so."

Kanu's matter is expected to commence at 9am before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The IPOB leader's trial took a new twist after soldiers of the Nigerian army invaded his residence in Afara Ukwu, Umuahia. Kanu, since then has not been seen in public space.

His lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has also filed a suit against the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai. Ejiofor asked the court to make an order mandating Buratai to produce Kanu in court for the hearing.
