Politics / A Pilot Dies As Nigerian Air Force Aircraft Crashes In Kaduna State by bumi10(m): 2:34pm On Aug 25, 2017
A tragic incident has happened just couple of hours ago in Nigeria defense training. A trainer aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force has crashed at the permanent site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna.

According to a statement by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the aircraft, an Air Beetle, crashed in Kaduna on Thursday, August 24 during a mission. It was gathered that the only pilot on board the aircraft, one of the NAF’s experienced instructor pilots, died following the crash.

Though the cause of the crash is unknown, the chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Sadiq Abubakar, has directed the constitution of a board of inquiry to determine the immediate and remote causes of the crash. The Air Force stated that the unfortunate incident is a tragic reminder of the hazards associated with the flying profession.

The CAS and the entire NAF family has also commiserated with the relatives of the late instructor pilot. In other news, the chief of air staff, Sadiq Abubakar, has cautioned against the use of social media to spread hate speeches and false information. Abubakar, speaking during a workshop on information management for public relations officers in the Nigerian Air Force on Tuesday, August 22, in Abuja, warned that using the social media in a harmful way would jeopardise the development of Nigeria, Channels TV reports.

He implored social media users to use the platform to educate and entertain as originally intended. Watch a video of the winging ceremony of the latest pilots of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) held at the NAF headquarters in Abuja.

Romance / Amazing: Mother Shares A Story Of How She Give Birth To Her Son Inside A Car by bumi10(m): 1:37pm On Aug 25, 2017
I can't stop shedding tears after hearing the story of this gorgeous mother. She shared the amazing story of the birth her miracle son who was born inside the car while on their way to the hospital. She said labour started way too early and progressed fast.

She had to push while inside the car and the baby came out wrapped in the amniotic sac. Read the full story below...

The human body is truly an amazing thing. On the 5th of August 2017 at about 10am I started having contractions. I was only 29 weeks and 4 days so I just figured they were Braxton hicks and decided to wait it out. After about 45 minutes of consistent contractions that were increasing in intensity, I decided I should probably go in. I there in some clothes. Grabbed my daughter some clothes, her my fiance And I left for the hospital.

I dropped my daughter to her God mommy Nicole And headed to the hospital. Well the contractions continued to get closer together and more intense and before I knew it I knew it was time to push. I called 911 because I was so scared. They couldn't understand me between the screams with contractions. So I handed the phone to my fiance. I pulled my pants off and reached down, sure enough his head was right there.

I pushed one time and my miracle baby was here. When I looked down I realized he was still completely wrapped in the amniotic sac. The dispatcher told us to pull over. But I knew we would make it to the hospital before they would make it to us. So I told Ean to keep driving. I was so scared. My Fiance was so calm driving and on the phone with 911. At first the baby was still and all I could do was pray he would be okay.

And then I rubbed his face with my thumb and he pulled his little hands and feet up to his face as if he understood my prayers and wanted to reassure us he was okay. About 7 minutes passed that I held this miracle baby in my hands until we made it to the hospital. A familiar face came running out and grabbed my baby. He was born an caul. This happens 1 in every 80,000 births. Usually during c-section. He was 3lb 1oz. He doing wonderful all things considered all He went through I know he's going to be an awesome little man! ? he is truly a miracle baby.

We are so blessed to be his parents.

Politics / Malabu Oil Saga: Former President, Goodluck Jonathan Ignores Reps Invitation by bumi10(m): 8:36am On Aug 24, 2017
The immediate former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has not yet responded to an invitation by the House of Representatives over the controversial $1.1bn Malabu oil deal according to a report on PT.

An ad hoc committee investigating the alleged diversion of the funds had invited Jonathan on July 5 after it said evidence in the line of the investigations indicated that the former President had issues to clarify.

Chairman of the committee, Razak Atunwa however said Jonathan ignored the invitation of the committee. Atunwa said the committee wrote to the ex-President to either appear or respond to questions by submitting documents.

In his words;

“Yes, we invited the former President already. The committee wrote him a letter, but he has not responded. He has not sent in any replies. We are still waiting for him.” The chairman said a decision will be taken after September 19, if Jonathan refuses to respond.

“When we resume, we will review the situation and decide on the next line of action,” he added.

Education / JAMB Denies Fixing Admission Cut-off Marks, Says Stakeholders Did by bumi10(m): 8:09am On Aug 24, 2017
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it did not fix the tertiary institutions minimum admission cut-off marks, contrary to reports. JAMB had announced that minimum cut-off marks for the university degree for the 2017 academic year be put at 120, Polytechnics and Monotechnics at 100.

The body said the decision was a collective decision of stakeholders in the education sector.

JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede while speaking on Wednesday said the cut-off marks was a unanimous agreement between stakeholders.

Oloyede said the decision will not reduce the quality of education as feared by Nigerians. He added that individual institutions could raise their admission benchmark higher but not above 180 and below 120 for universities.

“With this decision, universities are not to go below the minimum 120 cut-off points adopted by the meeting for admissions,” he said.

“What JAMB did was a recommendation,we only determined the minimum, whatever the various institutions determine as their admission cut-off mark is their decisions. The Senate and academic boards of universities should be allowed to determine their cut-off marks.“

Romance / 62-year-old Mother Of 5 Weds 75-year Old Man In Delta State - Photo by bumi10(m): 9:24am On Jul 29, 2017
This is not just a wedding, is a celebration of life. It was a great re-union for a 62-year old woman who recently got married to her 75-year old lover as her children gave her out to the man for marriage.

Reports suggests that the woman simply known as Geraldine from Isoko got married to Mr. Joshua from Urhobo in Delta State after their children consented to the marriage. The marriage reception took place at Agbara where the woman lived with one of her children, while she moved to her new husband’s place after the marriage at Omiyale in Ejigbo, Lagos.

It was gathered that Geraldine separated from her husband after they had five grown up children while Mr Joshua lost his wife seven years ago. It was learnt that they were lovers in their youth days and Jehovah Witness teachers before they separately married. The marriage between Geraldine and Joshua started after the former love birds met at Agbara, expressed their emotions and resolved to convince their children to consent to their marriage.

According to PM Express, Geraldine first called her children and told them that she was lonely and needed a man that will take care of her emotional needs since she has separated from her husband. She also reportedly told them that she had a lover before she married their father and the lover lost his wife some years ago and was also lonely.

She said since both of them were lonely, it was better for her to marry the man so that they will take care of each other.

It was gathered that the children were initially against the decision but when their mother threatened to kill herself if they did not support her, they soft pedalled. Thereafter they consented and gave her to Joshua as wife.

On the side of the man, it was the same thing because the children saw it as adding extra burden to the family but had no choice than to consent to make the man happy again. When P.M.EXPRESS visited the new couple and asked to know how they were coping with the marriage, they said it was easy for them to settle down because they have known each other over the years.

On their sex life, the man said they were slowly active and declined to make further comments.

Crime / 200 Police Officers Allegedly Shot And Sack Sawmillers From Ibadan Market by bumi10(m): 11:52am On Jul 28, 2017
It was chaotic yesterday being Thursday 27th July, 2017 as more than 200 armed mobile policemen forcefully ejected over 600 planks traders at the popular Temidire Planks Market Ibadan barley five (5) days to the August 1st hearing of a suit instituted by the traders against Oyo State government.

According to Daily Post, a plank seller identified as Mr. Lukman Gboye was reportedly shot by the overzealous police officers. Some traders were, however, arrested during the forceful ejection for resisting forceful takeover of the market. Those arrested were Ogunsola Kazeem, Muritala Mojeed, Kareem Suraju and S. A. Adekola.

The traders who were caught unawares by the invasion, wondered why Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in the state, Mr. Isaac Ishola who led the security agents to the market failed to honour the subsisting court order of the State High Court, presided over by Justice A. A. Gbolagunte of Ibadan Judicial division in suit number I/1152/2012 between the traders and Commissioner of Lands, Housing and Survey and Attorney General of Oyo state as defendants.

Counsel to the traders and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the State, Mr. Michael Lana described the invasion as sad for the rule of law and the people of the State.

Lana said, “Today is a sad day for the rule of law and the people of Oyo state. This is a day when a democratic governor and his arrogant commissioner, Isaac Ishola used Mr. Abiodun Odude’s policemen to denigrate the judiciary and violate its order of injunction granted since 2013. Senator Abiola Ajimobi recklessly used the police to shoot the very people he swore on oath to protect just because, according to my clients, he wanted to sell the traders’ land to a foreign interest and deprive his own people of the means of livelihoods. It is very sad.”

He said that his chamber had immediately after the invasion, proceeded to file a contempt of court under Form 48 (Order IX, Rule 13) at the Registry of the Court against Environment Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and the Divisional Police Officers at Gbagi police station to bear the consequences of disobedience to ruling of the court.

But Ishola while ordering the closure of the plank market for what he called environmental safety concerns, cited environmental health hazards caused by the saw millers’ activities as superseding ownership tangle.

“The issue here is environmental not ownership. They burn sawdust here discharging dangerous emissions that cause health hazards for the people around here. The place is also prone to flooding because there is no drainage here.”

“The interest of the public takes priority beyond individual or organisational interest. Government cannot just close its eyes when it sees people dying due to health hazards from the sawmill. All over the world, sawmill is located on the outskirts of the town but this is inside the town. So, they have to relocate to the alternative Fasade community that government has provided. Due to environmental issues, especially the health of our people, Temidire plank market is hereby closed with immediate effect,” he said.

The Chairman, Temidire Sawmillers Planks Market, Elder S. A. Alabi told journalists that a meeting was held between the Environment Commissioner last Tuesday where he threatened to shut the market for his failure to honour his invitation in a letter dated Monday, 17th July, 2017 and signed by the Ministry’s Director of Admin and Supplies, Mrs. O. O. Adebusuyi.

Elder Alabi said he was unavoidably absent at the said meeting but sent representatives to the Commissioner and expressed shock over the “Gestapo manner with which the commissioner stormed the market with about 22 security patrol vans to disrupt our businesses”, stressing that, “our people are law abiding and we pay our market rates to the government regularly, the last was paid just last Friday.”

The affected saw millers following the closure order protested outside the market for hours and charged towards the policemen who warned them to comport themselves.

While the saw millers are holding on to a July 11, 2013 interim order of the High Court, Ibadan, restraining their ejection, the state government said the closure stemmed from complaints by residents of the area of environmental health hazards emanating from activities at the plank market.

The Financial Secretary, Temidire Saw millers Planks Market Mr. Matthew Ojeyinka while showing the court order urged the state government to obey the court judgement restraining their ejection. On why some of them have failed to move to the alternate Fasade provision, he said that those who relocated to Fasade were not authentic members of the saw millers association.

He maintained that a non-indigene of the state and non-member of the saw millers association was foisted upon them as head at the Fasade site which the traders are kicking against. Ojeyinka, however, maintained that members of the saw millers association would vacate the market only if there was a court judgement to that effect
