Like Nikkygal said the digi's are expensive. I have learnt to use a pack of 20 sticks for 3 cycles. that is what i call stretching the dollar. lol.

I also did not tell DH whenever i got a smiley face. i kinda noticed it made him feel so pressured and Nervous.

@Seanbell really educative post on opk and the types i.e digi vs stick. I hope everyone interested in using OPKs takes time to read it don't ignore it thinking na long post.

@all I will post some excerpts of the Book TCOF that I found to be infortmative, if u all don't mind . Since not everyone may find time to read or buy the book.

hebrewwoman: My friend just told me about this forum today and i joined right away cos i just need to vent a lil bit. So glad there is a forum like this.

I just had a miscarriage less than week ago and this is my 2nd miscarriage in 5 months, i had my 1st in November. I've been married just a little over a year so i cant say I've been trying for long. i got over the first miscarriage very quickly cos i figured it was just one of those things but this 2nd one crushed me. I could not just understand what happened cos i had just gone in for my routine prenatal appointment when my Dr said there was no heartbeat and the baby had stopped developing. I almost died, i went to heaven and came back cos it just didn't make sense. It took my body about a week to realize the baby had stopped developing and the miscarry on its own just 4 days before my scheduled D&C.

My Dr says am very fertile and don't seem to have any problems getting pregnant but carrying the baby to term. Now my they are running tests to know exactly what is going on cos both pregnancies ended at about 9weeks. Now am so scared of getting pregnant cos i cant take another miscarriage cos i still have not gotten over this miscarriage. Its not up to a week yet so i figure i'd heal with time.

These things sometimes just don't make sense honestly but the bible says "In all things, give thanks to the Lord" but how do you do that in a situation like this?

I know people who have had more miscarriages than i have but it still does not make it any less painful. I can go on and on but i'll just stop here for now.


My Dr says i should wait at least 2 months before getting pregnant again.

@hebrewwoman, wow u have been thru a lot, please find reason to Praise God in all things, when I had an EP I found it had to praise God until I was reminded that I could have lost my tube.
Secondly know that it is not your fault and leave it God hands , research and make sure ur doctors perform all test necessary in the 2 months waiting time. God is able.

You see the problem is not only from the woman like in my own case please no offence we are learning after having my first child i waited for like 3yrs + my hubby and I were praying but we never thought of going to hospital we just felt all iz well. I went to the hospital one day to treat malaria and my daughter was playing about so they doctor noticed we were close / spoilt (only child now...lol) so when it was our turn he asked me why have i not given her another baby, I answer when it is time i will get pregnant.....He looked at me and asked how old is your daughter i said 3+, are you on contraceptive pills i said (NO), have you done any test i asked why will i do test so far i have a daughter.

When i got home i discussed with my oga and he was like is true we never thought about test, that was how we started with different tests. Behold it was my hubby, we were shocked cos he very active now (lol)not knowing the sperm count is very low. Ok what could have caused that there was a time life was hell when he lost his job and he was home for a yr + so the thinking of him not been buoyant finacially and stress of getting another another job with Lagos wahala with thinking.

That was how he started with treatment from the doctor i swear is not even up to two months afterwards one morning i was so weak which is unusual to even talk na walaha he looked at me and said Iyawo ti gbe nkan mi ( you are pregnant) ............Now am seven months preggy.

Please dont let us relax (like we did in our own case) let us pray, do some tests if need be and have faith.

@Seanbell... last cycle was my first time tracking my bbt, I however stopped tracking at 3DPO because I realized that i was giving myself a heart attack every time my BBT was getting close to cover line. but i think it is good practice for people with Irregular periods and ladies who don't have the EWCM.

@ROCKSQUEEN .. this bible verse always gives me assurance that my sins are forgiven. Matthew 21:22 say if i ask anything in prayer- i.e forgiveness is something i can always ask. God's mercy will be available to us all including me o.

@ Mrs Kemi … to me seems like the OPK is positive. But I swear those OPK stick drove me crazy when I used them, I prefer the Clearblue digital OPK ones that give you a smiley face when your LH surging. The only setback is that the CB digital OPK are expensive. So I used them when only when I start getting O pains and if I notice EWCM.

Someone asked about the book Taking Charge of your fertility. I think it is a v.good book to read. A lot of the information mentioned in the book can be found online (doing hours of research) just that the book puts it all in one place. I think it was really good for helping me understand how to Chart my BBT and pay attention to CM changes. I think it is worth buying. I don’t regret buying it. I recently purchased it for a junior cousin of mine who recently got married and was lost on the whole trying to conceive. She had the idea that all you have to do is unproctected sex. She enjoyed reading the book. Finally check out the reviews on Amazon.

Update: blood results have been great and for now my ob has asked me to stop doing the blood tesst. Since my periods are considered irregular I am seriously guessing on the number of weeks preg. Until my next dr appt in 3wks , when she will repeat an u/s.

Confession: last week I took another 2 more hpts just because .....But DH Was not happy with me sha. He asked why I was doubting... I guess because of my past experience the devil was playing tricks on my mind.

Also we have not told anyone and I know dh wants to tell his friend soo badly but we are keeping quiet for now. But I am glad I can come on here to share with u ladies, DH wishes he had online friends too lol.


@ ebony13 welcome , I used fertilaid and it helped with my cycle and hormone balance , I also did a detox in February ( I did nt use any detox products just ate raw veggies and fruits and nuts for a month .

I sincerely apologize for not updating you sooner. To God alone be all the glory, I did a pee test on cd 51 and it was positive. I got a faint positive. Then took a digital test the next morning that was positive too. I called my ob and because of the ep in the past she asked me to come in immediately she did an ultrasound, she did not see anything so she ordered blood tests to monitor my beta levels the first one was low( which y I did not update you sooner) my dr was very encouraging and believed that it will increase she ordered another test in 48hrs and since then I have been doing blood test and she has put me on progesterone and my only symptoms are tender boobs, back ache, cramps and hunger. I have not let the hospital results stop me from praising God that is how I have kept sane during each period of waiting for blood test results. Praisseeeeee God and I know that it is within God's ability to deliver me safely this year and I want you to know and believe that it is within God's ability to bless each one with a bfp this year. God bless everyone who remembered my family and I in prayers.

@udoak, this month I took fertilaid for first half of my period and i also charted my basal temp. I confirmed ovulation with opk , basal temp and ewcm. I stopped the fertil aid and the charting 2 days after confirmed ovulation. Continued eating healthy and taking prenatal ( I missed sme days sha) I have not taken a hpt since march 17th. I did not have any symptoms until 3days ago I started having sore boobs, and today feels like AF cramps. I am too scared to test. currently on cd 49. I am going get back on fertilaid by this weekend if no af and bfn.

@believer, please give your husband time to digest the news , be supportive and prayerful, hopefully he will consider donor fluid in the near future. Is adoption an option?

And for all the ladies on here please let us try try to not compare out situations with other ladies ( easier to say , God is seriously helping me)

@ Udoka2 am also 37 days late and and negatives test so far. I have not done blood test yet. I will do another pee test in the morn if bfn then I will make an appointment witH obgyn.

I dated my husband in a long distance relationship , although i saw him every month. My first year of marriage was not what I planned. But I learned patience and discovered how much I loved my husband and how I could go through anything for him. He also said he gained a lot of respect for me in that first yr of marriage. The day after our wedding, his mum moved in with us and stated for 6months, coupled with the fact that I was working at a job I hated. It felt like the first 6months ,our marriage was on hold. ( my husband knows his mum was not fair) but we decided to not make a big deal about it, since we had the rest of our lives to live. We did not go for our honeymoon until after she left. So our marriage really started 6months after and it has been bliss since then. Although MIlL came and stayed a total of 12 months in the first 18months of our marriage.. We no send her, we decided to not put our marriage on hold for her for anymore. It has been almost 3yrs since she last visited, we moved far from her. (I like her sha but it was getting too much)

@Champ, God will crown your efforts this month and your iui will be successful. rest and keep your self hydrated with water. God be with you.

@ Agibomma, your words of encouragement on this thread is appreciated and the support you give to us TTC ladies is a breath of fresh air. I know you are also TTCing yourself and i pray that God will answer us all sooner than we can imagine. by the way you went thru alot while pregnant with your son . and then delivering him at 25 weeks! God has been good to you o my sister. I am sure your strenght comes from God.


I checked out the new thread you started and wow! i can't wait to experience some of the symptoms, joys and the not so fun events (backache, nausea etc) of being pregnant . it is an interesting read. I hope to join the thread this month by faith (.I am in my TWW now).

For days 1-3 i took 150MG and then 4 i up it to 200MG and day 5 150MG.

I usually  have 32 days period, but now i am not even sure when my period will come. I used a Canadian Brand, i have to look at the name again and will get back to you ladies.

Thank God for good insurance i am thinking of grabbing my hubby for an IUI, i don't have time to wait anymore. I just want a baby and have 1 year off and chill with my kid,  hehehe,,

@udoak am not using any products. Never heard of the forever loving prods sef. I am just eating only raw/uncooked fruits and veggies . In other words I cut out processed and packaged foods even sugar .I also prayed a lot for strength to go tru with ,because e no easy. God has helped me.

Anyway, i just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing.

This is what is going on with me.

So my last cycle was about 17days longer than normal.

So begining on Feb 1st I decided to start a detox (mild one, only eating fruits and veggies) and plan to end tomorrow. I also started taking Fertileaid again (stopped using it mid last year after an ectopic preg and started using only prenatals) started fertileaid (two tablets instead of 3) on (Feb 3) and also started charting my Basal Temp -based on guidelines in the book: Taking Charge of your Fertility,if you want to learn about charting , there is so much information online , you don't necessarily have to buy the book. but the book has other useful information.

So far my period got restored, droped a few pounds, feel healthy and just waiting to O. i will keep you all updated.


Toronto 123- sorry to hear that ISO messed up your periods. may be you should reduce the dosage?

For those thinking of taking fertilaid/vitex, if you have regular cycle then may be you should only take half of the dosage suggested. So many ladies on the internet with regular cycles have blamed Fertilaid/vitex for messing up their periods. but many women who are not regular have praised it for restoring their periods.

Vitex was too strong for me when i used it in 2009, it messed up my cycle. but fertileaid worked for me, but i only use it when my cycles start getting wacky. However this cycle i plan to use fertilaid all through even after O.

I will keep you all posted.

PS-husband also using Fertileaid for men this cycle.

I had this problem when I first got married. I would spend my weekend cleaning and cooking and on Monday I will be yawning at work. So here are thing that helped me.

I got rid of the mindset that every corner of my house has to be spotless , so I started following a chore schedule , my husband saw the schedule and willingly picked some chores himself.

I follow the schedule religiously, for eg. Laundry on Fridays, if I can't do it on Friday then I will do just a few loads of laundry as opposed to everything.

I also set my kitchen timer for each chore. I do a 30min tidy up each day before bed. When 30mins is up , the rest of the cleaning is for the next day. Usually daily task invole dishes, wipping counter tops, puttin up clothes, maybe laundry. There are some days that daily cleaning is not necessary.

All yard work, (grass), car maint. Vacuuming is done by husband .

Also making sure u have the correct cleaning supplies and equipment the right tools can reduce the stress of house cleaning.

Music helps too.

For this cycle, I decided to get back on fertilaid. For the past cycles I used only a prenatal and preseed.

I am also reading a book "taking charge of your fertility" so far it has been good info. Anyone else read it?

The book promotes charting basal temps and changes in cervical mucus. I will give it a try this month.

@toronto123. I only discuss my TTC efforts with husband, sister and anonymous people on this forum. I feel I  will be judged by women who have been able to get pregnant easily that i am not doing enough. However, I have had people approach me with books and one offered me her left over prescription of metformin (because she was now peegnant) I accept the books and let them that know that in God is in control. The prescription I politely turned down.

For me (I can not speak for others ) this Ttc journey without faith in God can be depressing at the same time I kno

@ champs sorry to hear about that you are out. So where u prescribed anything for the hemorrhagic cyst? As for soft cups I bought them here in the states and I tried it once and it very messy. (may be I did not use it well) . They are very inexpensive so if u know anyone coming from the states they can purchase it for u. Walmart has it. I have read so in so many websites that it helps with leakage.

Fyi:As for the bumps I told u all about, after doing research and posting in other forums it appears to be another physical reaction to hormonal change during the cycle (just like sore bosoms) .someone suggested I cut out carbs from my diet a week before o and a week before af. I will try it next cycle and see.

Hi everyone!

I have noticed I keep getting bumps (hubby thinks it is in grown hair) around ovulation and before period starts in the same spot for the past 4 cycles.it is not painful and ends up disappearing. I have started to use a feminine wash just make sure it is not an infection. Dr. thinks it is pimples or in grown hair toand nothing to worry about but it worries me.

Have u heard of anything like before?

@champs I agree with udoak go back for another testing, some times ovulation happens later in the cycle. How long were u ttc before trying the iui? is this ur first attempt?

@udoak-yeah, Fertileaid is more expensive. Does Fertilyblend have Folic acid in it (Fertileaid does)? if not then you may want to use folic acid along with it.

Mama destiny aka chiomab. I think I have a little idea of what your going thru (my parents were strict too). please pray to God, when u feel most confused and depressed ( it will be hard, but trust me it helps). All I can think of is that there is reason why God gave you safe delivery and it will be become clear to you very soon that , destiny is special.

I hope your continued absence from school, will not trigger the authorities to call ur parents? Do you have any cousins or aunty in ur family that could be more understanding?


@mutter her roommate and hostel mistress may be covering for her now that is why her absence from school has not been reported to her parents. Secondly, I believe i read/inferred from  chiomab's previous post that she went to the second doctor because she heard he could successfully induce early labor and delivery. So I came to conclusion that is what  the first doc failed at doing.

Ify and b_b please take things easy , The kindness and charity work that u both do and choose to do in Nigeria and elsewhere will bring good rewards for you both all the days f your life. In your charity work,God will keep u safe and continue to keep u both humble.
