@ Kokoye
~Sauron~ does make good points, but they are insufficient to account for 350% pricing differential!!!!!
Chucking everything up to "government" is LAME!
By the time you factor in huge employee costs in the West versus the PEANUTS Nigerian hotels pay their slaves employees, it leaves me scratching my head in disbelief! |

Unless you're looking for NL's ever-colourful commentaries, please go to www.hotels.com, www.expedia.com, www.traveladvisor.com, etc for how Nigerian hotels compare with hotels around the world in price, matched with amenities.
Of course, Nigeria hotels have a poor Internet presence!
That's a better use of your time, if you want to research. |

raintree: Gosh, those are cut-throat room rates. How many of us can afford to stay in such hotels like for a week? I definitely won't waste that kind of money. How is it possible to promote tourism with this kind of overpriced hotel accommodation? Gbam!
I can head to Niagara Falls and stay at Sheraton (Fallsview) for less than US$160 a night - If try Federal Palace hotel (carpark view ), I will shell out almost US$500 in ONE night! OMG!
We forget that a nation's tourism is primarily stimulated by the local market, not just foreigners! |

oisehumen: . Please, say again to Sauron. People, please give ~Sauron~ a break! He probably thinks we're talking about "short time" motels! |
Travel › Re: Are Nigerian Hotels And Guest Houses Over-priced? by canuck(m): 1:26pm On Jun 24, 2010 |
@ Topic
Overpriced? YESSSSS! At least 150% higher than a standard room at The Ritz, one of the world's most exclusive hotels!
Compared to the Hiltons, Sheratons, etc, at least 350% overpriced!
The gouging perpetuated by Nigerian hotels is methodical! The DEMAND of their target market (money-miss-road Nigerians and expatriates concerned about safety, etc) is basically INELASTIC. They will always have 85%+ occupancy rate because there are no alternatives.
I don't buy the "government this and that" talk. It adds premium no doubt, but it does not account for 350% differential! Come on!
And they pay employees peanuts! No serious pension scheme. No/Poor insurance, etc! |

newmaster: He (Soyinka) said Nigerians should no longer expect him and a few other activists to continue to risk their lives while they (Nigerians) are lethargic about the way the country is being run by those elected.
“Let this be the last time you (Nigerians) will drag me out to talk about voting and election generally; enough of talking, let’s match it with action; don’t bring me out here again to come and tell you to register and vote in any election; enough of talking, just go out there to register and vote. Hmmm. . .Sounds like Kongi himself is getting weary and exhausted |

segzi cres: chai if these players see what has been written about them they would quit football to hawk dr pepper drink in traffic. Brilliant idea, segzi, because it will make them lose the I-am-a-superstar-and-make-lots-of-money body fat! After which they can return to football and into the waiting arms of clamouring fans!
Afterall, what's the difference between running with the ball on a soccer pitch and running with Dr Pepper to sell in traffic? Nothing! One is dead in the water if one can't "score" in both of them! |

[center]MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF RESIDENT LEXICOGRAPHER (World Renowned for Introducing KAITA and YAKUBU, the Latest Words in the English Oxford Dictionary)
For the sake of full disclosure, wishing YAKUBU dead or committing suicide is way out of the scope and intent of this fun-way-to-vent thread. Such posts are hideous, atrocious and completely in bad taste.
Cease and desist immediately, otherwise, our highly influential organization will have no option but to create a new word with your NL username. You will have no place to hide.
If you doubt our reach, see what we did to YAKUBU!
Signed,

CANUCK, Where is Canuck? Please people are depressed here and right now I think that they need your laughing medicine, who are we fixing up in our good old dictionary. As for me , I am chilling and being happy that my boys were not defeated. I am hanging up my shoulder because they stood up against others ane equalized. They said to the world "African ain't all spineless" and for that I am happy.
@Ogidi Boy Your suggestion to man 190 made my evening with enough laughter.
@Ruq Abeg leave Canuck make he make person laugh but the thing be say make we just jolly over these and not take it to heart.
Canuck I think it's still good you attach the warning of the chief lexicographer(whatever) general so that some don't carry things far enough to attack or accost Mr. Yakubu. Some people are that much affected by this ordinary game of football. Whao! Are you kidding me?! You're talking about Canuck on another thread? Na so persin own dey beta o! Thank you my sis! |

"Why did you yakubued Yakubu him?"
Please use word as a Regular Verb, not a Non-Continuous or Irregular Verb. OK? You're a solid A+ student for trying |
