AjaraEwuro:Oh boy! Someone really is pissed! ![]() |
@ Poster If you're thinking of going into IT, you're probably looking in the right direction with Oracle. Since you don't see your self in a lab coat, goggles, and test tubes doing titration, then the application certification may be a short route to getting into the market. All the best. |
iice:You probably daunt her. . . Would you be considered intimidating/overbearing, or is her confidence lacking, or both? ![]() |
@ aisha2 Nice post - Your former employee was a physchological basket case. I have learnt to cut such a person lose ASAP, otherwise, the office environment will slowly transform to mirror his/her crappy inner self. My story: Back in the day, I had a subordinate transfer from a Western Europe country (same company) to a team I led. I went through hoops to make sure he got relocation allowances, etc, due to him, and generally ensured he was settled. As soon as the weasle found his feet (in 3 months), he'd started intimidating high qualified colleagues, some of whom were on a higher level than he was! The last straw was when he went around telling people that I fought to bring him in so he can take over my job! I traced the rumour to him, he admitted (red-faced and head bowed). Of course, I sent his a** back to his country. Talk about a "This is not the person I hired" moment. |
What irony! LAMENTATION OF A POLICEMAN Gloomily sit I, gazing afar; Gazing afar, far ahead, Today again, just like yesterday, My comrade died or is killed! Yes, Today like yesterday; A widow, an orphan is made, clear. O! Death why more my clan, the police! For why do you strike me, alone! Yet I must smile and work, Not minding the scorn, Forget also the ridicule, Not even the outright, assault. Protect the society, I must, a must! Yet another comrade must lie; Buried, buried and forgotten. For how long this sadness must continue! Thus lament I the police. @ AjaraEwuro In defence of the poster - Does it not take a "jungle" for foreigners and few corrupt indigenes to access the wealth of this great nation, while the majority languish in darkness, poverty, closed universities, insecurity, etc? Just saying oh. No be say I get time for argument. |
Gamine:LOL! A terrible manager and an ugly freak. . .What an eerie combination ![]() |
tkb417:You've said it all with above quote - I hear you loud and clear! Keep plugging along. |

lawrence83:True talk! Next thing we hear, Onovo will stand by a well and say Police has unraveled a mysterious tunnel dug by Ribadu from Oxford, through the Mediterranean Sea to Ikeja GRA ![]() |
chosen04:Again, no one is HONEST, RIGHTEOUS and GOD FEARING, until he/she can do something and believe they can get away with it, and does not do it. That is when one has fought and won that natural "grab-grab" inclination. That is the pratical definition of Integrity. NO ONE IS BORN "HONEST, RIGHTEOUS AND GOD FEARING." Get off your high horse. Leaders are a microcosm of the people - From the leaders we've seen so far (presidents, senators, university lecturers, police officers, bank executives, office managers, educated, uneducated, etc), we, as a people, have integrity issues because we avoid facing personal issues. How else can the "new guy" on the block Onovo, look into the cameras and send verifiable untruths into the airwaves? |
iceland:I'm off topic here, but Iceland?!!! Kai, naija dey try o . . . With Iceland's 320,000 total population, the whole country will know you o ![]() All the best, Bro. Hats off to you. |
chosen04:Whao! I see you've given up on the entity called Nigeria, and probably for good reason. But let's dissect Sonny Okosun's lyrics a little, shall we? Almost EVERY one in power (past/present) in Nigeria came from very humble (OK, exceedingly poor) backgrounds. I mean self-proclaimed people from humble backgrounds e.g. Aondokaa, IG Tafa Balogun, Obasanjo, IBB(?) etc. If we, as a people, do not possess this "grab-grab" mentality, shouldn't these politicians/bureaucrats be content with 3 square meals, etc? No! They loot, and loot, until they loot the loot! Most Nigerians do not know what's in them until they touch power. Check out the corrupt government of student unions on campuses! If one has never had the power to do something and get away with it (at least, in one's mind), then, one has not really been tested. Power reveals who you are - And Nigerians, so far, have shown the "chop & quench" mentality. PS: Sonny Okosun is now deceased - At least show some respect, even if you disagree - Calling him a "Liar!" PSS: You just displayed another weakness in us Nigerians - Misplaced Aggressiveness! |
@ deezah It appears that you're working for an OK company (with a network of 'stations'/branches), but for a BAD manager. If so, have you explored the possibility of transferring to another branch, instead of leaving the organization? You already know which manager has great raves from his/her staff, so you can choose wisely - You may just end up with a worse boss if you move to a different company! Just my two cents. All the best. |
Toludo:Are you kidding? Okada skills are not commonplace (unlike the ability to drive a car); how did they know you could ride one? Na wa for some ogas o! |
Allta:Because, per your NL signature, 'As a man (or family/team/nation) THINKS, so is he (or they become)' ![]() |
lbotus:Thanks for reminding me of the lyrics of Ozziddi himself, Sonny Okosun, which rings true: Chorus: Which way Nigeria (x2) Which way to go? I love my fatherland I want to know Which way Nigeria Is heading to? Verse: Many years after independence We still find it hard to start How long shall we be patient Before we reach the Promised Land? Let's save Nigeria, so Nigeria won't die! Verse: Every little thing that goes wrong We start to blame the government We know everything that goes wrong Because we're part of the government Let's save Nigeria, so Nigeria won't die! Verse: Inefficiency and indiscipline Is ruining the country now Corruption here, there, and everywhere Inflation is soaring high Let's save Nigeria, so Nigeria won't die! Verse: We made mistakes during the oil boom Not knowing that was our doom (bang on!) Some people now have everything While many, many have nothing Let's save Nigeria, so Nigeria won't fall! Verse: Our ambitions to be millionaires Is running the country down We all want to be millionaires And to live in the (air?) Oh, let's save Nigeria, so Nigeria won't die! And things weren't even this bad when Sonny Okosun composed this song in 1984 - Which way Nigeria ?? |

kalmebad:I've found that ladies either LOVE their female bosses (e.g. exchanging make-up tips, etc) or HATE 'em (e.g. mustering every ounce of self-control not to strangle them). It's like there's hardly a middle ground. I wish you the very best as you press on!!! |
Mr Kelly:Whao, A very uplifting story indeed - Working as a security guard, while pursuing a Masters Degree, in Nigeria!!! Hats off to you and the pastor who encouraged you along this arduous path. |
celebritee:LOL, Talk about sending out conflicting/confusing signals. Or could it be the classic case of "carrot and stick"? |
