kodewrita:i oppose this intervention on moral AND economic grounds, moral grounds because it is morally bankrupt to invade a sovereign nation under the guise of humanitarianism when your own troops are killing unarmed civilians in iraq, afghanistan and pakistan. Immoral because the racist zionist govt of israel kill and maim palestinians on a daily basis and america not only arms and finances this country to the tune of $2 billion per annum but actively vetoes any attempt to stop this injustice, immoral because this same so called international community failed to intervene in rwanda in 1994 despite the fact that 1 million people were butchered at the hands of hutu militias, immoral because even in our country nigeria this same international community did jackshit when obasanjo slaughtered innocent men women and children in odi , gbamaratu and zaki biam, immoral because nothing was said when abacha executed (extra judicially) ken saro wiwa . economic because financially it is absolutely ludicrous to expect tax payers to foot the bill for a neo colonialist offensive when america and britain have more pressing socio economic problems to deal wiht in thier respective countries. the ONLY beneficiaries of this debacle will be the american oil companies the arms dealers and the international financial institutions. the african nations who voted for this are nothing but paid up rented who.res their own day of reckoning will soon come, how long before america moves south to appropriate the oil reserves in nigeria, equatorial guinea, gabon and angola ? they deserve everything that will come there way for selling out an entire continent - i thought they opposed AFRICOM - now AFRICOM is about to arrive on the african continent via a so called humanitarian intervention. |
With 46.5 billion barrels of proven reserves, (10 times those of Egypt), Libya is the largest oil economy in the African continent followed by Nigeria and Algeria (Oil and Gas Journal). In contrast, US proven oil reserves are of the order of 20.6 billion barrels (December 2008) according to the Energy Information Administration. Sun of god:Absolutely, according to one analyst the implementation of a no fly zone will cost the american tax payer $15 billion per annum - im sure the american taxpayers will be pleased to hear that despite rising unemployment and cuts in public spending on health and education obama and his cronies are still quite happy to finance a FOURTH war. UK tax payers will of course be ecstatic about having to pay for this as well. nigeria, gabon and south africa shame on you for voting in favour of this criminal intervention - remember that as far as the west is concerned there is no such thing as permanent friends just permanent interests. |
violent:i dont think you fully appreciate the implications of what is happening in libya - this is the beginning of the foreign occupation of a sovereign nation, the US will reopen their military base which was shut down by gadaffi in 1969 in order to complete the takeover of the country. They will then finish off their AFRICOM agenda ie the siting of military bases all over the continent in order to secure areas rich in natural resources. the libyan oil company NOC will be privatised and the british and americans will move in and take over, basically we are about to witness the outright theft of a sovereign nations oil resources. The only winners here will be Exxon mobil, Chevron, BP. The libyan people should cast their eyes across to iraq and find out how well the iraqis are living since the invasion and occupation of their country by america. oh and i almost forgot about the rebuilding of the infrastructure that is being destroyed by american and european missiles, i wonder who will be awarded the contracts to rebuild these? let me guess - american construction companies like haliburton - hmmm that makes sense. This is just the beginning of the end for libya, oil rich countries in africa (nigeria) watch your back - you might be next on the list of the US/UK neo colonial "humnanitarian" intervention. |
ibedun:so true, no-one was listening to what the AU had to say, according to one account, the african nations who voted in favour of the resolution expressed reservations about the military intervention but were ignored. i think this might be the beginning of the recolonisation of africa. |

In a desperate bid to force Gadaffi out of power and make way for the plunder and pillage of libya's oil reserves, the US/UK alliance are now FORCING a sovereign leader to SURRENDER LARGE SWATHES OF HIS OWN LAND WHICH WERE LEGITIMATELY WON during a confrontation with a WESTERN BACKED REBELLION to the very people that were trying to overthrow him. so let me get this right, armed rebels try to overthrow you, you fight and win back the land they try to take from you, the west then intervene to FORCE YOU TO HAND OVER THIS LAND TO THE PEOPLE WHO WERE TRYING TO OVERTHROW YOU ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ?In a statement on Friday night, the US president warned Col Gaddafi that he must withdraw troops from towns previously held by rebels, including Misurata and Zawiyah. This now spells the end of the sovereign nation state. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8392091/Libya-Col-Gaddafi-told-to-leave-now-or-face-the-bombers.html |
"Operation Libya" and the Battle for Oil: Redrawing the Map of Africa by Prof Michel Chossudovsky Global Research, March 9, 2011 Part II The geopolitical and economic implications of a US-NATO led military intervention directed against Libya are far-reaching. Libya is among the World's largest oil economies with approximately 3.5% of global oil reserves, more than twice those of the US. "Operation Libya" is part of the broader military agenda in the Middle East and Central Asia which consists in gaining control and corporate ownership over more than sixty percent of the world's reserves of oil and natural gas, including oil and gas pipeline routes. "Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, possess between 66.2 and 75.9 percent of total oil reserves, depending on the source and methodology of the estimate." (See Michel Chossudovsky, The "Demonization" of Muslims and the Battle for Oil, Global Research, January 4, 2007) . U.S. Crude Oil, Natural Gas, and Natural Gas Liquids Reserves) Oil is the "Trophy" of US-NATO led Wars An invasion of Libya under a humanitarian mandate would serve the same corporate interests as the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq. The underlying objective is to take possession of Libya's oil reserves, destabilize the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and eventually privatize the country's oil industry, namely transfer the control and ownership of Libya's oil wealth into foreign hands. The National Oil Corporation (NOC) is ranked 25 among the world’s Top 100 Oil Companies. (The Energy Intelligence ranks NOC 25 among the world’s Top 100 companies. - Libyaonline.com) The planned invasion of Libya, which is already underway is part of the broader "Battle for Oil". Libyan oil is a bonanza for the Anglo-American oil giants. While the market value of crude oil is currently well in excess of 100 dollars a barrel, the cost of Libyan oil is extremely low, as low as $1.00 a barrel (according to one estimate). As one oil market expert commented somewhat cryptically: "At $110 on the world market, the simple math gives Libya a $109 profit margin." (Libya Oil, Libya Oil One Country's $109 Profit on $110 Oil, EnergyandCapital.com March 12, 2008) Redrawing the Map of Africa Libya has the largest oil reserves in Africa. The objective of US-NATO interference is strategic: it consists in outright theft, in stealing the nation's oil wealth under the disguise of a humanitarian intervention. This military operation is intent upon establishing US hegemony in North Africa, a region historically dominated by France and to lesser extent by Italy and Spain. With regard to Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria, Washington's design is to weaken the political links of these countries to France and push for the installation of new political regimes which have a close rapport with the US. This weakening of France is part of a US imperial design. It is a historical process which goes back to the wars in Indochina. US-NATO intervention leading to the eventual formation of a US puppet regime is also intent upon excluding China from the region and edging out China's National Petroleum Corp (CNPC). The Anglo-American oil giants including British Petroleum which signed an exploration contract in 2007 with the Ghadaffi government are among the potential "beneficiaries" of the proposed US-NATO military operation. More generally, what is at stake is the redrawing of the map of Africa, a process of neo-colonial redivision, the scrapping of the demarcations of the 1884 Berlin Conference, the conquest of Africa by the United States in alliance with Britain, in a US-NATO led operation. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=23605 |

Of significance, China plays a central role in the Libyan oil industry. The China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) had a workforce of some 400 employees. The total Chinese workforce in Libya was of the order of 30,000. Eleven percent (11%) of Libyan oil exports are channelled to China. While there are no figures on the size and importance of CNPC's production and exploration activities, there are indications that they are sizeable. More generally, China's presence in North Africa is considered by Washington to constitute an intrusion. From a geopolitical standpoint, China is an encroachment. The military campaign directed against Libya is intent upon excluding China from North Africa. Also of importance is the role of Italy. ENI, the Italian oil consortium puts out 244,000 barrels of gas and oil, which represents almost 25 percent of Libya's total exports. ( Sky News: Foreign oil firms halt Libyan operations, February 23, 2011). The colonial redivision of Africa. 1913 Libya: Strategic Saharan Gateway to Central Africa Libya has borders with several countries which are within France's sphere of influence, including Algeria, Tunisia, Niger and Chad. Chad is potentially an oil rich economy. ExxonMobil and Chevron have interests in Southern Chad including a pipeline project. Southern Chad is a gateway into the Darfur region of Sudan, which is also strategic in view of its oil wealth. China has oil interests in both Chad and Sudan. The China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) signed a farreaching agreement with the Chad government in 2007. Niger is strategic to the United States in view of its extensive reserves of uranium. At present, France dominates the uranium industry in Niger through the French nuclear conglomerate Areva, formerly known as Cogema. China also has a stake in Niger's uranium industry. More generally, the Southern border of Libya is strategic for the United States in its quest to extend its sphere of influence in Francophone Africa, a vast territory extending from North Africa to Central and Western Africa. Historically this region was part of France and Belgium's colonial empires, the borders of which were established at the Berlin Conference of 1884. The US played a passive role at the 1884 Berlin Conference. This new 21st Century redivision of the African continent, predicated on the control over oil, natural gas and strategic minerals (cobalt, uranium, chromium, manganese, platinum and uranium) largely supports dominant Anglo-American corporate interests. US interference in North Africa redefines the geopolitics of an entire region. It undermines China and overshadows the influence of the European Union. This new redivision of Africa not only weakens the role of the former colonial powers (including France and Italy) in North Africa. it is also part of a broader process of displacing and weakening France (and Belgium) over a large part of the African continent. US puppet regimes have been installed in several African countries which historically were in the sphere of influence of France (and Belgium), including The Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. Several countries in West Africa (including Côte d'Ivoire) are slated to become US proxy states. The European Union is heavily dependent on the flow of Libyan oil. 85 percent of its oil is sold to European countries. In the case of a war with Libya, the supply of petroleum to Western Europe could be further disrupted, largely affecting Italy, France and Germany. Thirty percent of Italy's oil and 10 percent of its gas are imported from Libya. Libyan gas is fed through the Greenstream pipeline in the Mediterranean (See map below). The implications of these potential disruptions are far-reaching. They also have a direct bearing on the relationship between the US and the European Union. Greenstream pipeline linking Libya to Italy Concluding Remarks The mainstream media through massive disinformation is complicit in justifying a military agenda which, if carried out, would have devastating consequences not only for the Libyan people: the social and economic impacts would be felt Worldwide. There are at present three distinct war theaters in the broader Middle East Central Asian region: Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq. In the case of an attack on Libya, a fourth war theater would be opened up in North Africa, with the risk of military escalation. Public opinion must take cognizance of the hidden agenda behind this alleged humanitarian undertaking, heralded by the heads of state and heads of government of NATO countries as a "Just War". The Just War theory in both its classical and contemporary versions upholds war as a "humanitarian operation". It calls for military intervention on ethical and moral grounds against "rogue states" and "Islamic terrorists". The Just war theory demonizes the Gaddafi regime while providing a humanitarian mandate to US-NATO military intervention. The heads of state and heads of government of NATO countries are the architects of war and destruction in Iraq and Afghanistan. In an utterly twisted logic, they are heralded as the voices of reason, as the representatives of the "international community". Realities are turned upside down. A humanitarian intervention is launched by war criminals in high office, who are the unchallenged guardians of the Just War theory. Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo,, Civilian casualties in Pakistan resulting from US drone attacks on towns and villages ordered by president Obama, are not front page news, nor are the 2 million civilian deaths in Iraq. There is no such thing as a "Just War". The history of US imperialism should be understood. The 2000 Report of the Project of the New American Century entitled "Rebuilding Americas' Defenses" calls for the implementation of a long war, a war of conquest. One of the main components of this military agenda is: to "Fight and decisively win in multiple, simultaneous theater wars". "Operation Libya" is part of that process. It is another theater in the Pentagon's logic of "simultaneous theater wars". The PNAC document faithfully reflects the evolution of US military doctrine since 2001. The US plans to be involved simultaneously in several war theaters in different regions of the World. While protecting America, namely "National Security" of the United States of America is upheld as an objective, the PNAC report does spell out why these multiple theater wars are required. The humanitarian justification is not mentioned. What is the purpose of America's military roadmap? Libya is targeted because it is one among several remaining countries outside America's sphere of influence, which fail to conform to US demands. Libya is a country which has been selected as part of a military "road map" which consists of "multiple simultaneous theater wars". In the words of former NATO Commander Chief General Wesley Clark: "in the Pentagon in November 2001, one of the senior military staff officers had time for a chat. Yes, we were still on track for going against Iraq, he said. But there was more. This was being discussed as part of a five-year campaign plan, he said, and there were a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan, (Wesley Clark, Winning Modern Wars, p. 130). http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=23605 |
Libya, Hypocrisy and Betrayal by the United Nations: US-NATO’s New War in North Africa of Death and Destruction Felicity Arbuthnot Global Research, March 18, 2011 “If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – for ever.” - George Orwell. The bombing of Libya will begin on or nearly to the day, of the eighth anniversary of the beginning of the destruction of Iraq, 19th March, in Europe. Libya too will be destroyed – its schools, education system, water, infrastructure, hospitals, municipal buildings. There will be numerous “tragic mistakes”, “collateral damage”, mothers, fathers, children, babies, grandparents, blind and deaf schools and on and on. And the wonders of the Roman remains and earlier, largely enduring and revered in all history’s turmoils as Iraq, the nation’s history – and humanity’s, again as Iraq and Afghanistan, will be gone, for ever. The infrastructure will be destroyed. The embargo will remain in place, thus rebuilding will be impossible. Britain, France and the US., will decide the country needs “stabilising”, “help with reconstruction.” They will move in, secure the oil installations and oil fields, the Libyan people will be an incidental inconvenience and quickly become “the enemy”, “insurgents”, be shot, imprisoned, tortured, abused – and a US friendly puppet “government” will be installed. The invaders will award their companies rebuilding contracts, the money – likely taken from Libya’s frozen assets without accounting – will vanish and the country will remain largely in ruins. And the loudest cheerleaders for this, as Iraq, will be running round tv and radio stations in London, Europe and the US, then returning to their safe apartments and their UK/US/Europe paid tenures, in the knowledge that no bombs will be dropping on them. Their children will not be shaking uncontrollably and soiling themselves with terror at the sound of approaching planes. And this Libyan “Shock and Awe”? Shame on France, shame on Britain and the US and a UN avowed: “… to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war.” Every shattered body, every child maimed or blown to bits, every widow, widower, orphan, will have their name of those countries, and the UN., written in their blood in their place of death. And the public of these murderous, marauding Western ram raiders, will be told that we were bringing democracy, liberating Libya from a tyrant, from the “new Hitler”, the “Butcher of Bengazi.” The countries who have ganged together these last days to overthrow a sovereign government have, again, arguably, conspired in Nuremberg’s: ” … supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole”, and yet again, plotted to overthrow a sovereign government, with a fig leaf of “legality” from an arm twisted UN. We have seen it all before. In time, it will emerge, who was stirring, bribing, de-stabilizing – and likely few will be surprised at the findings. But by then, Libya will be long broken and its people, fleeing, displaced, distraught. When it comes to dealing with the usual “liberators”, be careful what you wish for. In six months or so, most Libyans, whatever the failings of the last forty years rule, will be ruing the day. http://www.prisonplanet.com/libya-hypocrisy-and-betrayal-by-the-united-nations-us-natos-new-war-in-north-africa-of-death-and-destruction.html |

France is part of the EU offensive but sarkozy is determined to lead the assault because of his desperate need to coverup his corrupt dealings with gadaffi especially since Gadaffi's son's threat to expose him. the arab nations who sanctioned this assault are traitors, saboteurs and western puppets, but above all they owe their current secure positions to the US military aid that they receive by way of millions of dollars, they are in cahoots with the US/UK alliance and have sold out their own people in order to retain their draconian grip on power (much like the nigerian leaders) do not for one minuite think that these people are legitimate leaders with the mandate of their people - they sold out a long time ago. Essentially they gave up the sovereignty of their nation in exchange for milijtary aid from the US/UK. gadaffi was the last arab leader who wanted to retain power on his own terms - he wasnt prepared to let the IMF in to devalue the libyan currency and impose the kind of austerity measures that the likes of jonathan and co agree to without considering the effect it has on his people, he wasnt prepared to be a slave for exxon mobil, chevron, shell and all the other neo liberal predators, he wasnt prepared to act like a cowadly slave like the nigerian leaders have done - for that reason he is paying a very dear price. |
Dede1:I agree - the average african is very very slow, unable to discern when they are being tricked and full of empty hot air, no wonder the europeans succeeded in annexing the entire african continent so efficiently and effectively. when i read some of the comments on here i get a terrible sinking feeling in my stomach - our people are so ignorant and clueless it beggars beleif. It is now so obvious that this current intervention in libya is a neo colonial annexation and yet there are people on here STILL babbling on about humanitarianism - i mean when are the lights going to go on in these people's heads? Its so shameful that in this day and age we are still being fooled by the same old enemy. |
kodewrita:your obsession with gadaffi reeks of hypocrisy, why call for one dictator to be removed but keep mute over the murderous and brutal regime of another one - can't you see that what you are following defies logic? if you say the US should remove gadaffi - then what say you about the indiscriminate bombing of innocent civillians by US drones in iraq, afghanistan and pakistan? Should america not also be facing prosecution for crimes against humanity? how about israel's murderous atrocities comitted against the palestinians, shouldnt they also be dragged before the International criminal court? if you say gadaffi is a brutal tyrant - then what say you about the house of saud and the bahraini royal family? you see this whole thing is a hypocritical mess, the US have the guts to talk about dragging gadaffi before the ICC, but they refused to become members of this same court for fear of facing prosecution for crimes against humanity perpertrated in iraq, afghanistan and now pakistan - the whole thing makes no sense. You can not be an arbiter of justice if your hands are soaked in other people's blood, only 3 months ago america and europe were lining up for oil and gas contracts from this man they now want dead, does that make sense to you? what sort of world are we living in where the rules only apply to those who can not defend themselves from military attack? oh and let me tell you only US/UK dictators labelled as enemies are targetted for removal NOT friendly dictators - if not why are the saudis and bahrainis still killing bahraini civillians with impunity? with regard to chavez - are you aware that the US govt tried to topple his regime in 2002 and failed? the CIA kidnapped and almost murdered him but the venezuelans demanded his release within 48 hours and threatened to destablilise the entire country if he wasnt produced unharmed -did you know this? chavez is the venezuelan people's choice -the americans can not get rid of him because he won the elections in his country by an overwhelming landslide AND key members of the army support him. the leaders of other arab nations like egypt, UAE, qatar, saudi arabia and bahrain are cowards, traitors and hypocrites -look at how quick they were to sell their fellow arab brother - gadaffi down the river by sanctioning the UNSC resolution, for fear of being the next target of attacks from the EU and the US, they are shameless cowards, but they are expendable, if the US could jettison their long term friend and ally Mubarak they will do the same with any other arab leader, other nations shoudl learn from this and realise that the US/UK are ruthless barbarians who do not have permanent friends just permanent economic interests. |
Kobojunkie:In some ways i can understand that life must be soo much easier being you - totally braindead, totally devoid of an iota of curiosity, totally devoid of basic logic AND YET STILL thinking that you are normal. Only in nigeria can an adult woman think and act like you and still be regarded as a sane normal human being qualified to participate and even contribute to society. What baffles me is the fact that you actually live in the US and yet remain so ignorant, my conclusion is that you do not socialise with intelligent people because no intelligent human being would ever regurgitate the kind of stuff that comes out of your "mouth" - i really do wonder what you do for a living - im guessing its a job that does not require at any point the use of a fully functional brain because you are so st.upid i actually feel embarrassed for you. |
kodewrita:hahahahahahha - nigeria's interest LMAO kodewrita - the nigerian govt dont give two fu.cks about you or anyone else, they are only interested in STEALING , they have no vision for nigeria, nothing, just stealing - its that simple. also - nigeria is a client state of the US/UK alliance they have zero power, they cannot even begin to think of adopting the stance that gadaffi adopted, they are sellouts, cowards and the lowest form of human existence. You need to understand that placing your hope in the existing nigerian ruling class is an exercise in extreme futility, it is a suicide mission, their main objective is - TO CONSOLIDATE THEIR STRANGLEHOLD ON POWER - at the expense of the well being of their own people, let me break it down - these people are the new slave riders - they dont give a sh.it about you, therefore why do you care about what they say is " in nigeria's interest". with the exception of Libya i beleive every african nation is a paid up rented prost.itute of western powers, its all about military might, if you have the might you can force and crush other nations, if you dont you must bow to them, libya chose to fight- nigeria chooses to bow like a slave , giant of africa my ar.se!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
the nigerian govt have demonstrated once again that they are a bunch of paid up rented house boys, carrying out the requirements of their white masters - lets see how far their boy boy behaviour will get them. As for the neo colonial proposition to annex and take over the vast oil wells of libya by the fake humanitarian intervention of UK/US alliance its business as usual, the libyan people will soon realise that they have made a fatal mistake by inviting these vultures into their nation, Gadaffi liberated Libya from the grip of colonial exploitation, he transformed libya from a barren colonial outpost to a prosperous modern nation, the colonialists never forgave him for deposing their puppet - King Idris ,they have been trying for years to get rid of Gadaffi, now they have the perfect excuse - humanitarian intervention, funny - america why didnt you intervene when 1million african tutsis met their untimely death at the hands of a vicious and murderous hutu militia? It is now on record that Bill Clinton bluntly refused to send troops to Rwanda to stop the slaughter of innocent men, women and children and yet you have the guts to open your mouth and talk about humanitirianism - give me a break!!!!!!!! |
DeeJay20:bro this is a sad day in the history of the world when the UN can hide behind the cloak of humanitarianism in order to legitimise the invasion of a soveriegn nation - what really gets me so worked up is the complete silence with regard to the atrocities currently being carried out by the saudi and bahraini govts against protesters in bahrain, the whole situation in the middle east is beyond tragic. Ive noticed that france is playing a very prominent role in this proposed onslaught - could this be because Saif exposed that corrupt clown Sarkozy, if i were the Gadaffis at this particular point in time i would start exposing that other thief - tony blair, i would also be talking to the russian and chinese media about what really happened with lockerbie. |
kodewrita:the argument about removing a tyrant does not wash with anyone who has an understanding of the US/UK's foreign policy in the middle east, africa and latin america. Up and down the middle east you have had US backed tyrants who have been very comfortably propped up by the US and britain, shall we have a look at them? mubarak - propped up by US military aid to the tune of $1 billion dollars a year ben ali - propped up by the french who even tried to keep him in office despite an uprising against him by the people, the french even went as far as shipping arms to help him crush the civillian uprising against him but it was so overwhelming for him that he fled. the saudi royal family - one of the most brutal and murderous regimes in the middle east - propped up with US arms for over 50 years, they even deployed troops to bahrain to crush the bahraini uprising - up till now no calls for military intervention or sanctions from the US/UK. plus numerous african dictatorships who receive millions of dollars in military aid in order to keep them in office - including the nigerian govt. Therefore the idea that Gadaffi is a dangerous tyrant who needs to be dislodged for brutalising his own people is quite frankly a sick joke. America and britain create, impose and prop up these dicatators, the only time the dictators become a problem is when they stop following instructions from washington and london - then and only then do you start hearing calls for their removal. Mobutu an american backed dictator was allowed to brutalise his people steal Zaire's vast wealth and open up Zaire for american, belgian and british mining companies to ra.pe repeatedly - how come no one called for his removal? the late Omar Bongo of equatorial guinea ra.ped his country in collaboration with french oil companies elf for 42 yrs how come there was no massive outcry to get rid of him? But along comes gadaffi who decides that he wont allow the west to dictate all the terms of engagement of oil and gas contracts now he becomes the terrible tyrant - by the way the desire to get rid of gadaffi by america and britain did not start today - google the various attempts by british intelligence to assassinate gadaffi and you will find out that this has been an ongoing vendetta against him and his regime- mainly for his countries vast oil reserves but also to consolidate the US's geopolitical control over the region. I can assure you that britain and america have nothing good in store for libya, read britain's history regarding the middle east, read about how they got rid of mossadek of iran, read about how the americans backed another brutal dictator the shah of iran who collaborated with america to steal his country's resources like our nigerian leaders are currently doing then you will start to see the truth. by the way can you tell me why america and britain are not calling for the bahraini and saudi govts monarchs to be prosecuted before the international criminal court for authorising the shooting of unarmed protesters by saudi troops ? the hypocrisy, treachery, and pure evil of america and europe is so terrible its beyond human comprehension. |
kodewrita:It is also on record that america backed and supported a supposed peace plan with this same Foday Sankoh as its chairman which gave him responsibility over the mining of diamonds in sierra leone - all this despite the terrible atrocities he carried out on his own people, this should indicate to you that the US govt are the most immoral set of human beings on the face of the planet, human lives mean nothing to them especially if those lives belong to africans. If Gadaffi goes, his replacement will be far worse, he did a lot for his people, far more than any other african leader, america and britain will move in and appropriate the wealth of libya in collaboration with their oil companies, libya will turn into another nigeria, the imf will begin implementing neo liberal economic reforms which will take libya backwards instead of forwards, the big losers in this whole charade will be the libyan people, if they think they are suffering now let them wait until the oil companies start controlling libya's economic policy. Look at the number of workers that had to be evacuated from libya, does that not testify to the fact that libya is a rich country , the western multinational oil companies are desperate to steal all of this, libya's demise is just beginning. one day those rebels will remember how they caused the catastrophic downfall of their own country by inviting foreign predators in. |
kodewrita:gadaffi is not the first person to campaign for nigeria's breakup, and anyway nigeria is not a united country and is split along ethnic lines therefore gadaffi's statement was not wrong. i dont see what nigeria stands to gain from gadaffi's removal, the nigerian govt should remember that less than 3 months ago these western leaders were queueing up to beg for oil contracts frm gadaffi and his son, today however they want to replace him with a puppet who will give them freer access to even cheaper oil contracts, does the nigerian govt think this can not happen to them? let them keep dreaming. let any incoming administration decide to carry on awarding oil and gas contracts to china and see how long they will remain in office before a "revolution" will sweep through nigeria and topple it. |
wedapeople:moral world?? is that america and britain by any chance, the nations who have armed israel to the teeth and stood by and watched israel steal more and more palestinian land and murder palestinians who dare to oppose this tyranny? is this also the same moral world who stood by and did absolutely nothing when 1 million tutsis were murdered in rwanda in 1994 or is it the same moral world that are strafing men women and children in iraq, afghanistan as we speak? Or is it the same moral world that have declared war on libya under the pretext that they need to protect libyan civillians while keeping absolutely mute about the fact that saudi arabia deployed troops to bahrain who have shot and killed civillian protesters? As i said in an earlier post any protest carried out in nigeria will not be backed by the UK or US because the current leadership in nigeria are doing everything the west wants, notice how they even voted in support of the invasion of libya, they are a puppet govt and will never challenge america or britain. |
Neo-Libs Rejoice As UN Declares War On Libya Paul Joseph Watson Prison Planet.com Friday, March 18, 2011 Neo-libs everywhere are rejoicing. Remember – war is evil unless it’s sprinkled with the magic pixie dust of UN endorsement and “humanitarian” rhetoric, in which case the dead bodies, the terror, and the screaming children are all worth it. The fact that Libya is the richest oil nation on the entire African continent is a mere coincidence. Go back to sleep – basketball is on the TV. Soon you’ll be able to crack open a 6 pack and enjoy the air strikes like you would a Dwyane Wade slam dunk. This is precisely what we predicted before Obama even took office…. “Obama may eventually withdraw a portion of troops from Iraq, but mark our words, they won’t be home long before they are sent off to bomb another broken-backed third world country, this time in the name of a United Nations-backed “humanitarian” war, just as Bill Clinton presided over in Somalia and Serbia with the full support of the establishment political left.” Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones, November 4 2008, The More Things “Change” The More They Stay The Same. FLASHBACK: Obama’s “Humanitarian” Conquest Of Libya FLASHBACK: Obama Encircles US War Machine Around Libya FLASHBACK: Russian Military Claims Libya Air Strikes Did Not Happen FLASHBACK: Globalists Seek To Hijack Middle East Revolution To Topple Iran READER COMMENT: So it’s official now, the UN has declared war on Libya. Now many Libyans will die and the country’s infrastructure will be crippled. Libya’s relatively high standard of living will plummet. The invasion will bring death, disease, insecurity and terror for Libyans. Why? To install permanent US military bases to protect the foreign corporate violation and pillage of Libya’s resources. Maybe Obama will be awarded another Nobel War Prize. War is evil. http://www.prisonplanet.com/un-authorizes-all-necessary-measures-against-gaddafi-airstrikes-could-start-tonight.html |
Glad to see that nigeria were playing their part as america and britain's houseboys by following their masters and supporting the bombing and invasion of a soveriegn nation. Very ironic that they shoudl be condemning Gadaffi given their own non existent human rights record. They shouldnt get too comfortable though, today america is their friend tomorrow they coudl be the next oil rich nation earmarked for "humanitarian intervention". Wonder why america is not calling for intervention on "humanitarian grounds" in saudi arabia and bahrain. |
imagine that dirty crook sarkozy - no wonder the bastar.d couldnt wait to see the back of the gadaffis, im sure there are many more skeletons about these bloodsuckers still hidden away, Saif should keep exposing them. |
just to add isale - very few heads of state in the world today act independently, many are paid puppets who do as they are told by the real power brokers - the powerful corporations and the banking elite, the ones who dont are either removed or killed. Obama is therefore not going to be any different. bush, cheney, clinton - were all paid up puppets complying with the dictates of the real power brokers in america. |
Cap, If you look at it that way, then essentially, no head of state has real power - all are dancing to the beat of the puppeteers. Did George Bush or his father have power? As you well know, the Bushes and their cronies, the Caspar Weinbergers, James Baker, Richard Cheney, were once thought to be the real power in world politics. But I digress. To get back to the specific of having a black president of the USA - Obama or Nigerian, does the symbolism not count? Do you acknowledge that seeing people who look like you in "powerful" or enviable positions does something for the masses, impresionable children (and the young at heart )? I'm not a fan of Obama, to tbe honest, and growing less so each day, to the point, I barely follow any news on the man now. I just want your view on what, if anything, positive you can think of of having Obama or any black person in such a high position.
the symbolism DOES count - the fact that a black man is occupying the highest seat in the land DOES give us as a people a psychological boost and it DOES elevate our collective self esteem, however there is another side to the situation and that other side is that he does not serve the interests of us as a people but the interests of the white elite who made it possible for him to be there and that needs to be borne in mind too. |
even if it were to happen, what difference would it make? the person would still be a powerless puppet of the white elite. blacks have no real political clout in america, the fact that a black (mixed race) man is in office carrying out the dictates of a white elitist class of bankers and oligarchs makes zero difference to the vast majority of black people. |
Very good, i pray that Gadaffi's troops are successful in recapturing benghazi. May the evil machinations of bloodsucking america and the UK continue to fail at every turn. |
malali:very well said!!! |
