Jen 33/Busybody i applaud you for taking on the thankless task of trying to educate some of the world's most brainwashed minds. It must be difficult debating with people who are so clueless you want to weep with despair. it beggars belief that an african person can know so little about what is going on on their own continent. Mugabe is indeed a hero, one of the few remaining african leaders who actually had the guts to stand up to the racist imperialist britain, the US and the EU. I suppose the posters on here would have preferred it if Mugabe had adopted the stance of our nigerian traitor leaders who have opened up the wealth of nigeria to the IMF, the foreign multinationals and effectively said" here it is boys, come in help yourselves, take as much as you can carry ". Can you imagine the state we would have been in had the british decided to remain in nigeria? they would have imposed apartheid rule given that they had (and still have) the upper hand, there are indications that this was already happening as they had already built their GRA's which were designed with the intention of creating a seperate area of settlement for themselves. If apartheid had been implemented in nigeria as was the case in what was then Rhodesia majority of the people on this thread condemning Mugabe would have been living in filthy shanty towns with the minority white population living in gated communities surrounded by acres and acres of stolen land. Many of these same people baying for Mugabe's blood on here would probably be working as farmhands, houseboys, gardeners and maids, perhaps after living like that for 200 years they would then begin to understand the agenda of the white racists. The other day i watched a documentary about white racists in south africa who refuse to integrate with blacks despite the dismantling of apartheid. Many of these people could not bear the thought of having to live amongst black people and decided to move out into isolated gated communities, one woman who was interviewed was asked why they had opted for complete separation from blacks and she said: "because our religion (christianity) does not permit us to be ruled by blacks, blacks are not qualified to rule over us or give us orders, we were ordained by god to rule over them as they are an inferior race of people". Sometimes i wish some of the posters on here could go and live for a year in south africa and run into people like that woman. In addition to the land reform problem Mugabe's problems with the west also began when he refused to borrow more loans from the IMF and implement strucutural adjustment programmes, america wanted Zimbabwe to get hooked on the endless debt cycle that almost every african country has been conned into, it was when Mugabe refused to go along with this scam that his relationship with the west started breaking down. These are the same loans that nigeria is still battling to pay off and the SAP austerity measures are the same programmes that have been implemented in nigeria by babangida and obasanjo and now Jonathan. These programmes have condemned many nigerians to a life of poverty and yet many nigerians still do not understand who their real enemies are. |
Me and you have been dragging this from the previous page. Allow the woman to be. THEY'LL NOT CRUCIFY HER, OK! Common, you're taking this too far. Have you even heard other nationalities speak? Have you heard indians or chinese people speak English? What about our own Yar'Adua? Wasn't his accent typically thick northern Nigeria? There's no sycophancy shi.t as far as this is concerned. It is what it is - her accent. Period.
you've gone back to this accent thing again, after i said that my criticism is not about her accent but about her reading ability, okay lets just beg to differ on this one. |
I really dread the day she will make a speech in an international forum , i think she is able to get away with this because she is in nigeria where sycophancy is the order of the day, if she dare reads like this in front of the foreign press they will crucify her. |
Stop getting ahead of yourself. You have valid points here but I disagree with some. About the green-bolded, what do you think she should do, fake an accent? At least she could read (and write) in the language despite her lack of eloquence. Speaking it might not be her strongest point. What else do you want? For her to speak like the Queen? Abaaaaa!
I have already said that its not about her accent, its her poor reading ability - can't you see that she struggles to read english, this is simply unacceptable for a first lady especially one who loves being in the limelight. She can't eat her cake and have it too , you can't keep parading yourself in public but then when it comes to public speaking you speak like someone who is still learning english, come on! is it asking for too much to expect our first lady to know how to read and speak english properly? |
Gbawe:I thought i was the only one who noticed this about Beaf, honestly the guy needs serious help with his aggression and crude attitude. |
Beaf:pathetic - what on earth has this got to do with this thread ? if you don't like the discussion you know what to do |
I'm not here to defend this woman but lets get something straight. Can you read well in your native language? If you're given a piece of paper containing an article written in your native language, can you read it well without faltering? One thing with Nigerians is that we like to always "overdo" foreign things to the detriment of our own ways. English is another country's native language which was lorded over us in the name of colonialism but sadly, our people have used the English language as a medium to sort of, gauge one's intellectual capacity. We wouldn't blink an eye if she can't speak her native Okrika language yet when she "can't read well" in English, it becomes an uproar. Colonial mentality, I say. That's nonsense. At least she can read in English albeit not so eloquently and flawlessly. The fact that English is Nigeria's official language doesn't make it her first language. I could understand all she said without straining my ears.
good im glad you're not defending her because you're not doing a very good job. First of all yes i can read in my native language albeit not as fluently as i can read english but let me tell you i would not attempt to go to a traditional gathering, pick up a microphone and stutter and stumble through a speech in my native language knowing full well that my reading ability was not fluent- and if i did i would have no one else but myself to blame if people ridiculed and mocked me for doing so. By the same token Patience Jonathan has no business embarrassing not only herself but the entire nigerian nation by openly displaying her limited english reading ability in a public forum. I am well aware of the fact that english is a foreign language imposed on us by way of colonialism however since it is as another poster correctly pointed out our national lingua franca - a language that we use to communicate amongst ourselves given our diverse ethnicities surely it makes sense to know how to speak it correctly? I am not against having a national language which could gradually replace english in order to demonstrate pride in our nation however in the meantime, english is the language we speak and since its what we have for now why not speak and read it properly? And if you can't - stay away from making speeches in public forums which require speakers to speak or read fluent english. |
Guys chill. English isn't her first language or do you guys expect her to fake an accent here? Let the woman be.
its not about her accent - its the fact that she can not actually read english - no-one cares about accents but people do care about your reading ability, she just sounds like someone who is just starting to learn how to read in english. |
blacksta:bro this is no longer a laughing matter - the woman cannot read english properly - why is she being allowed to embarrass herself and her nation? |
I stumbled upon this clip of Nigeria's supposed first lady trying to read a speech which had been prepared for her by her press office. I had heard rumours that Mrs Jonathan's reading skills are, to put it diplomatically rudimentary, but when i saw this clip i was in shock, how can we as a nation have a woman like this representing nigeria? The role of first lady of any nation is an important one in that it involves a lot of public speakign arrangements and photo calls, a first lady in my opinion should be refined and well groomed in speech, attitude and mannerisms. I feel totally embarrassed that this woman is going to be parading around the world as nigeria's first lady and i really think that the sight of this woman laboriously reading a speech in any public forum will confirm our postion in the world as a running joke of a nation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7bOClsDc-s |
Beaf:Here is a man who follows and champions the cause of known criminals like Goodluck and Patience Jonathan - if that is not a sign of mind numbing stu.pid.ity - i dont know what is. Have you disproved Patience Jonathan's involvement in money laundering? How about Goodluck's billion dollar spending spree on unecessary "independence day celebrations", bribery of pastors and draining of nigeria's foreign reserves. It beggars beleif that a person with one single brain cell would condemn the only man who has ever had any feasible plan for the eradication of corruption in nigeria and instead champion the cause of a proven criminal and theif. Funny how you pick and choose the use of the word nepotism - how come you didnt notice nepotism when OBJ's daughter got off scot free after embezzling millions? Since you are now an authority on good morals is stealing 100 million naira from the people who elected you into office a sign of good morals? how about money laundering - is that also a sign of morality and decency? how much does Patience Jonathan and her husband have to steal before a light goes on in that your head that they are corrupt, or does your pathetic sycophantic brain not register stealing when its done by nigerian politicians? Where is your proof that Buhari plans to spread sharia in nigeria, and you have the nerve to call me a conspiracy theorist, when you have not provided even a shred of evidence to prove that Buhari intends to implement sharia law on non muslims - now i see why you are a vehement supporter of the Jonathans - semi functional illiterates of the same feather flock together. |
We are doomed as a nation compare the first lady of the US - a well spoken, well groomed intelligent Princeton and Harvard educated lawyer with nigeria's first semi literate so called first lady who cannot read, write or speak english properly. Michelle Obama is a woman who black women look up to and respect, Patience Jonathan is a woman who most black women would be ashamed to have as the first lady of their country. Despite Michelle's numerous academic acheivements she remains humble, warm and friendly unlike the arrogant, unrefined "Dame" Patience Jonathan. I weep for our nation. Compare and contrast the difference between a real first lady and an impostor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f3GL48uGgM |
by the way beaf, first lady's are not immune from criticism as they are regarded as public officials - moreover Patience Jonathan lost any entitlement to immunity from criticism the minute she dipped her fat paws into the coffers of the bayelsa state treasury, so use your brain for once and start thinking logically. Foreign intelligence reports have it on record that Patience Jonathan is one of the most corrupt women currently on the nigerian political scene, keep brown nosing in the hope that they will throw a few crumbs in your direction. |
Beaf:says the man who peddles false stories slandering the name of the only decent presidential aspirant nigeria has had in over 27 years. Where do you get off trying to assume the moral high ground when you have tried to use this forum to bring Buhari's reputation into disrepute by spreading fabricated stories and all manner of falsehoods? What cheap points am i scoring - I am merely pointing out that Patience Jonathan is an illiterate money grubbing criminal - not only is she corrupt but she is not fit to represent nigeria on the world stage as she is incapable of reading basic english , I know you dont care about nigeria's image on the world stage but that woman is an embarrassment and should not be allowed to represent the country. I just pray that the husband does not win the presidency because the pair of them are an embarrassment to Nigeria and will be treated like a joke whenver they go abroad and are received by foreign dignitaries. |
Just finished listening to a "speech" given by Mrs Patience Faka Jonathan - i didnt know we had fallen to this level so this is what nigeria has been reduced to? Are we seriously saying we want this woman to represent nigeria as our future first lady? - can you imagine this woman engaging in a conversation with Mrs Obama? we are finished if this woman becomes nigeria's first lady: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7bOClsDc-s |
Beaf:and why havent you seen anything wrong with Patience Jonathan's looting of 100 million naira and 35 million dollars from the Bayelsa state treasury? |
jp philips:GBAM!!!! [b]this is a very good question. but yes he is a human being and he trusts his nephew to do the right thing unfortunately the guy embarrassed him. In other words we can trust that we will be getting jobs on Buhari's trust and merit while we hug a transformer once you betray that trust.Bros keep educating them - they are like blind, deaf and dumb men staggering around in the dark |
jp philips:Thank you so much for saying this when i read his posts (Jakumo) they leave me cringing - I simply can not beleive a grown man can reason the way he does, and to think the other day some poster was praising him for his supposed writing prowess - what a joke!! The thing that baffles me is that these people are catching hell over here and are not even recognised as full fledged citizens of these foreign countries and yet they sing the praises of this place from the rooftops as if they have an equal chance with the indigenous white people over here. Buhari is a moslem as such supports the tenants of islam, does he have the intentions of imposing it on the entire nation is the bone of contention, I advise you focus on it.Again bro thank you for this, i continue to wonder how any person with a brain cell in their head would ever support a man who couldnt wait to get his foot through the door of bayelsa state govt house before he and his wife started looting their state treasury. Jonathan is an OBJ stooge, and OBJ in turn is a US stooge, i would advise you to research Obasanjo's links with some of the most powerful political names in Washington, why do you think he continues to figure in nigerian politics to date, he has been granted immunity by the western powers that is why he is still alive despite all the atrocities he has committed in nigeria, if you research his background you will find out that he has friends in high places and i dont mean africans i mean white elites who are protecting him - the man is immune from assassination and imprisonment. this man has been working in collusion with washington since the 70s when he was installed after Murtala Muhammed's assassination. Unfortunately Buhari has not been approved by Washington or London and this is why he will not win these upcoming elections. The west know that if Buhari wins it all their privatisation plans, white elephant projects, bogus IMF loans and fake debt rescheduling packages will come under review - remeber what Chavez did to all the foreign oil companies and multinationals in Venezuela? rwell thats what these parasitic western corporations are frightened of, they had a taste of Buhari in the 80s, they fought his economic advisers over the implementation of SAP when he refused to devalue the naira, cut employment, cut public spending in public services and generally impoverish his own people they decided tto kick him out and replace him with Babangida, the west do not want a repeat of that saga and it is for that reason that it will be very difficult for him to win -in my opinion everything has already been predetermined - the west have made their selection and i beleive it will be Jonathan, if by some miracle Buhari wins it the west will try to destabilise the entire country - look at Ivory Coast - that is what awaits nigeria if the "wrong person" wins these upcoming elections. Gen. Buhari I hope you have a counter strategy because I strongly believe that ordinary GEJ cant beat you in a credible election.that sounds like a good idea, i just hope it can be implemented. |
Africans!!! Why don't we have a mind of our own for the continent sake. I agree with Dede and Cap 28 absolutely. Military action is way too divisive at a time we should be forming alliances. It seems no one have answered the question that was put forward by Cap28, and i rephrase it, what did the so called International community do in 1993 in an election that was credited to be free and fair in the history of Nigeria. The International community was watching from the sideline as the election was annulled. The International community was watching as the winner of that election was put in prison. The International community was also watching from the sideline when he was poisoned to death. As if the humilation was not enough, they were also watching when the dictator stepped aside and arranged for a sovereign National Government. This action was also not considered as at that time to be undemocratic by the International Community. And I still ask what was the International community doing when SNG was discarded after some couple of months by a military regime. Ghana have publicly shown that they have a mind of their own and they have my utmost respect. It is a political situation in IC and i believe that the AU should have a mind of their own in finding solutions by employing diplomacy by bringing two warring parties to the roundtable.
I will go as far as saying that this so called international community were actually in support of Babangida's annullment of June 12 presidential elections thats why they did not intervene, they didnt want to take any chances with Abiola because they saw him as a loose cannon - especially given his sympathetic stance on reparations. If i remember correctly Abiola died from poisoning shortly after a visit from a US official whilst in prison - this is what happens to people who refuse to tow their line. How can people who have backed murderous regimes all over africa in order to protect their financial interests turn around in the same breath and talk about democracy when they fall out with one particular african head of state, is that how democracy works? Do you pick when and where you want democracy to apply? If you really analyse this situation the conclusion you will come to is that the west have absolutely no respect or regard for africans. Basically what they are saying is : in the past corrupt dictators have fraudulently rigged their way into office with our support and we've been okay with those set ups because we were reaping huge profits from this, however now we have someone who has fallen out of favour with us and we want him out - not because he fraudulently rigged his way into office but because he is refusing to do what we want, we have a replacement - one of our agents who will run the country in accordance with our instructions, however we won't send our own troops to remove him - we want you to do it for us becasue africans dont mind dying in order for europeans and americans to continue pillaging and exploiting their vast wealth - only a fool would go along with this type of arrangement. Let Jonathan continue acting like a pet dog - when his master asks him to jump,he asks how high? - pathetic |
OYINBOGOJU:thanks oyinbogju, know how or where i can get the cd? |
I just want digress a bit while also staying KIND of on topic lol. . . All stereotypes have some truth to them though. I don't wear weave. The most I would wear is braids or maybe ONE TRACK to make my bang thicker but full head of hair, no because I have plenty. There are some black women, however who wear weave 24/7, fake nails, lashes, EYE BROWS even; etc and then wonder why we are type casted as weavie wonders. Some black women WILL NOT and cannot leave the house without weave or wigs, they are literally imprisoned by their own minds and self hatred. These women who are then type casted by society based on their ACTIONS make it harder for the rest of us and even make an extra effort to draw us down as a people to their levels. . .for example: One member on here, who is unfortunately an African (does not deserve such a title), called herself poking fun of my dark skin, my "big forehead" and suggested that I wear weave every day like she does, she too falls into the brainwashed category believing my natural state can be "cured" with faux hair and make up, but what I have over her is a sense of self and also natural beauty. I do not care to fall into anyone's category but that of my own. I am 100 percent authentic. My point being, whites push their views of beauty on colored ppl but it is up to us to decide if we want to over look it and appreciate ourselves or if we want to sink to the lowest of lows and demonstrate self hatred and then having the nerve to be upset when called out. Some black men are able to control their desires and or urges however some are not and when they see a woman who they find attractive the start behaving like they have not even an OZ of sense, grabbing, yelling and staring and then wondering why they are viewed as s3x fiends. Slavery may have something to do with their mentality but it is nonetheless pretty bad of a trait to have.
In a way i can understand why black women resort to wearing weaves, wigs, bleach their skin and in extreme cases undergo plastic surgery - its because a lot of black men in the western world do not appreciate the beauty of a black woman, look at the type of supposedly black women that are held up by blacks in the west as the epitome of beauty - Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Mariah Carey - these women are not even fully black!!! When you hold up women as the epitome of supposedly black beauty who are not even full blooded black women that sends out a very negative message to black women ie in order to be beautiful you have to be light skinned, with long straight hair and european facial features and/or body shape - this is why black women resort to weaves, bleaching etc A woman should be confident in who she is but her man also must play a part in making her feel secure in her skin, if a black man can't even appreciate a black woman who actually looks black is it any wonder that these women will go out of their way to look like what the western media tells her is the ideal of beauty. Black women in my opinion are victims of a racist white controlled media who continue to tell them that they are not beautiful, if you grow up being told every day that you are not beautiful after a while you will start to beleive it no matter how mentally strong and confident you are. I think if more black men affirmed the black woman's beauty black women wouldnt feel pressured into using weaves, bleaching creams and other artificialities to make themselves appear more "acceptable"/western looking. Black men need to step up to the plate more and stop allowing themselves to be brainwashed by the media, there is a hidden agenda behind all of this and that agenda in my opinion is to cause division between black men and women and therefore fragment and eventually destroy the black community. Having said all this,Mzdarkskin keep on being yourself and staying natural, beleive me there is nothing more beautiful than a natural black woman, any man who can not appreciate you for you is not worth being around. |
Katsumoto: ![]() thanks Katsumoto - I cant beleive BBC wasnt recorded its such a fantastic track, I hear there are many of his tracks that were never recorded that are equally brilliant - such a shame, how do we get hold of these works of art? I will try HMV and see if i can find anything, failing that whenever im in nigeria I'll try Ikeja bus stop as you advised this is the youtube link for chop and clean mouth , just wish i could get this on CD as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8WAaVok910 I love Fela's lyrics, this is how he describes nigerian sycophants who go along with anything their leaders tell them: "If govt do something e bad, them go say mme sah, them go say mme sah like goat, just to find something to chop, just to find money to steal, mme, mme like goat - na so them tink with their privatisation, na so them tink as dem dey scatter africa" see how they slap our face for africa - them slap kpam kpam - gowon, obasanjo carry left side give them - them slap kpam kpam love his lyrics - so true!!!! how you dey? did you go to see the musical? |
OYINBOGOJU:here is the link on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fzz6pKw3vfA&feature=related Its such a brilliant track but unfortunately it doesnt finish, would really appreciate it if you could direct me to where i can buy the CD with this track, other tracks im looking for are: music against second slavery (MASS) and chop and clean mouth like say nothing happen. many thanks |
I went to see Fela! the musical at the royal national theatre in london over the xmas and it was fantastic. Fela was so unique and he was light years ahead of all of us. I think towards the end of his life he became very depressed about our unwillingness to change our situation there's one of his tracks that i ve been looking for and i cant find it anywhere - its called Big Blind Country - the lyrics describe nigeria in a nutshell - "in the country of the blind - the one eyed man is king" that has been nigeria for the past 50 years. Fela was the best thing that ever came out of Nigeria. |
anunaki:Very true, the negative influence that the western media has had on how we black people perceive ourselves should never be underestimated. In the western world white female beauty is placed at the top of the totem pole and women of other races are valued according to how close they are to the supposed ideal. Interestingly black men are viewed by the western media as sexual objects - i think this goes back to the times of slavery where black men were used as studs to "breed" female slaves to increase the master's slaveholding, this is where this image of the sexually virile, black stud comes from - this image has stuck and black men continue to be portrayed in the media as sexually desirable. |

here is an interesting article written by an african american guy on the type of black women that white men tend to go for and why: http://abagond./2008/05/28/black-women-that-white-men-like/ he says in his article that white men tend to go for black women who look like: Iman, Garcelle Beauvais, Sanaa Lathan, Angela Bassett but tend not to go for black women who like: Sade, Estelle, Brandy or Kelis if you read the article he explains why - by the way i think this is his own personal opinion and not based on any empirical evidence or anything. |
white english men generally do not date black women ie african women i think this is because black female beauty is not recognised in the western media, the western media only celebrates european beauty and english men have been brainwashed into beleiving that the european looking woman is the ideal. From what i have seen a small minority of white english men do still date and marry black women but these tend to be black women who are very slim and have european facial features, from what i have noticed european men in general do not necessarily bother about skin shade as ive seen some with dark skinned and light skinned black women but in all cases the women they tend to go for are usually very slim. unfortunately many black men who have been socialised in the western world also subscribe to the view that european looking women are also the ideal some even beleive that dark skinned black women are not as attractive as lighter skinned black women this is because they are victims of the extensive brainwashing and mind control perpetuated by the western mass media. Black men who have been socialised in a majority black environment away from western influences tend to be more appreciative of black female beauty however the harmful effect of the western media is beginning to change that and we are now beginning to see black people even in africa who are buying into the western media's ideal of beauty ie light skin, european facial features. |
Pornodude:but the current colonial created contraption that you currently inhabit known as nigeria is run by murderers, ex drug barons, ritualists and kleptocrats - is that your idea of progress? How about the fact that in a country which generates billions in oil revenue annually the average nigerian citizen lives on a dollar a day - is that progress? Biafra is a pipe-dream that some who weren't even born when it seemed like a good idea cling to like it were life's bosom. My Igbo brothers and Barbies, pls when the whole world is becoming a global village, would it be proper to continue smoking the pipe of biafra and giving ourselves lucid hallucinations over what wouldn't work in this present time and age. Biafra is not worth all the trouble when i consider the ilk of people who uphold it.Maybe its better to continue smoking the pipe of nigeria where life is cheap and where corrupt leaders are praised and worshipped by sychophantic followers. Global village indeed! What have you benefitted from living in this so called global village? being exploited by your leaders and western multinational corporations? give me a break. |
Dede1:Okay that makes sense, so this is why they want him out then? Omar Bongo of Gabon allowed French owned oil company Elf to take over his country - just like our own kleptocrats have allowed Shell to take over Nigeria - in exchange for this they let him stay in power and loot the country for 42 years! |
