Ecstasy154: Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the candidate of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last year’s governorship election in Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is unfit to govern the state.
The party, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Kunle Oyatomi, said the scandals surrounding Adeleke’s personality and qualifications were embarrassing, which informed the reasons why some PDP members approached the court for clarity over his eligibility to hold such public office.
The APC said, “Adeleke’s personality is problematic and embarrassingly scandalous in regard to his educational qualifications.
“If the PDP as a political party is not embarrassed by the scandals surrounding Adeleke’s personality and qualifications, some of its members are concerned enough to seek clarity in court.
“But for the PDP through its chairman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo, to turn around and accuse the APC of instigating PDP’S members, led by Mr Ajayi Shuaib, to seek clarity in court appears dumb to us.
“Let’s remind the PDP that when Adeleke was rejected by the APC years back for the senatorial election, the PDP adopted him within hours and dumped their best qualified and professional minds.
“However, what they did not factor into their hasty adoption was the potentially obvious down sides of the young man. They did not really think it through,” the APC said.
The APC castigated the PDP for failing to take responsibility for the baggage it invited to their party because it was desperate to win election.
“We have no interest in Adeleke. We rejected him long ago. Now that the PDP is discovering why the APC dumped him, it is just reasonable that the PDP carries its cross,” it said.
The APC maintained that, “the PDP is still living in darkness. No matter how hard that party tries, it cannot get Osun people to repeat the tragedy of 2003.”

superlightning: Just a few days back, Reno Omokri set the social media ablaze when he placed Achebe's works over Soyinka. It wasn't funny, especially among the Yoruba folks who were Soyinka's kinsmen. Reno's post, despite how flattering it was for achebe's enthusiasts, was uncalled for anyway.
There are facts however, that shouldn't be dismissed in this discussion.
1. Soyinka is an undisputed literary icon in the world, same goes for Achebe.
2. Soyinka's literary strength lies in poetic abstractions while Achebe's literary strength lies in simplifying complexities.
3. Soyinka is first a poet-playwright, while Achebe is firstly a novelist cum poet. They both have been recognized internationally in these subgenres.
4. The Nobel Prize for literature is an outstandingly prestigious prize, while honorifics like "father of modern African literature" are based on global impact of ones work about Africa.
5. No prize or honorific determines who is above who in literature.
6. Soyinka conveyed African literature through Eurocentric appeals while Achebe conveyed African literature through Afrocentrism.
7. Soyinka's work has this persuasive charm while Achebe's works was unapologetically assertive.
summarily, Achebes works are more popular than Soyinka's work because most nations on earth can relate to its themes of forced societal change through colonization, while Soyinka works aestheically compares Yoruba worldview to European worldview, no wonder Soyinka is a professor of comparative literature.

Seriously when Igbo finally leave this Lagos, Yoruba’s will still have to deal with northerners whose population are possibly larger then igbos. I observed that too. Work took me out of lagos few years ago. I still visit lagos frequently. In March, firing my recent visit, I noticed that non-indigenea would soon eclipse yorubas in lagos. This is expected because of unemployment in the country. Youths are migrating to lagos on alarming rate from all parts of country. This is my observation: they are more northerners in lagos than easterners. Presence of igbo among all easterners are more noticeable because average igbo person is lousy. I feel hausa-fulani are preparing for war. War is imminent in this country. |

Ratello: Alarm: Yoruba forests host 1,123 cells of armed Fulani herdsmen--Oodua group
…….says Yoruba rich are being secretly kidnapped, huge ransom paid
Ibadan May 14, 2019 FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLIC RELEASE..
There are exactly 1,123 cells belonging to armed Fulani herdsmen mainly in forests and highlands located across Yoruba territories. The cells are well organized and they appear to network with each other. The mission of the cells are unknown except that there have been increase in the preponderance of their organization skill. They appear to have lately adopted martial training in these cells. Some of the Fulani armed herdsmen speak French suggesting the Franco-African origin of some of them.
In a media release on Tuesday, Apapo Oodua Koya, (AOKOYA) said the cells are manned by between 30 to 50 young armed Fulani herdsmen whose focus is kidnapping and rape and the imposition of siege, a state of fear and anomie across Yorubaland. AOKOYA, a coalition of several Pan Yoruba self-determination groups including Yoruba Nationalist League, (YONL) Association of Yoruba Retired Officers, (AYORO), Federation of Ilaje Peoples, (FEIP), Itsekiri Peoples Alliance, (IPA), Oodua Peoples Congress, (OPC), Oodua Revolutionary Coalition, (OREC), Agbekoya, Oodua Students Alliance, (OSA) and many others said the study was conducted over a period of six months using some of the best intelligence gathering equipment. It further said that satellite images have been personally submitted to State Governors in the South West and some traditional rulers. The group said “We have taken our time to do an intelligence survey using modern equipment and google mapping with elementary satellite imaging to know the number of armed cells established and controlled by the Fulani herdsmen spread across Yoruba territories of Kwara, Kogi, Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti and Itsekiri part of Delta State. Our findings are shocking. There are 1, 123 cells run by armed Fulani militia. The cells are populated with Fulani armed men. Some of them are in military uniforms and in some instances we find young girls cooking for the men”, the release signed by the Secretary for Strategy of the group, United States-based Col Abimbola Sowunmi and Deputy Secretary for Publicity, Mr Ismail Abiodun said. AOKOYA also said that its intelligence report indicate that many Yoruba rich are being kidnapped in silence. “We discovered that many Yoruba rich men and women are being kidnapped and they are compelled to pay ransom. It is traditional that many of them fear to speak out and in cases where rape of women are involved, the victims are too traumatised to speak out.
"The Yoruba rich suffer in silence. They are raped. They are so traumatized to speak out. We reveal with pain in our hearts that the proprietor of a very big Petrol Filling station in Yoruband one of the finest Yoruba business woman was kidnapped. She paid a lot of money. Another woman, Mrs who runs an Industry with speciality in ethanol was kidnapped near Ayede in Ekiti state..She has since relocated to London. AOKOYA representatives have met some of these victims who have given confidential information.
Another very rich woman in Abeokuta was kidnapped late last year on her way to Lagos. She was kept for two weeks. She paid a huge sum as ransom. The wife of a prominent Pastor in Lagos was seized in February this year on her way to Akure in Ondo State. She infact paid 25 million to be free. Students of many of the highbrow private Universities are victims. They know their parents and the students.
The Fulani herdmen threaten them that their children would be killed if they report to the police. AOKOYA said students of Afe Babalola University, Babcock and Covenant Universities are prime targets. "It added that wives of traditional rulers are also targets. They are so scared to report to the authorities.” In one instance, Yoruba billionaire, Bode Akindele was accosted on Ibadan-Lagos Highway. He managed to escape. We observe that they operate with intelligence networking with some contacts within the state security services that provide information for them and through an extensive network involving Maiguards. They go out to mosques on Fridays and churches in Sundays where they target and trail owners of exotic cars to their private homes from where they station agents who act as Okada riders but who in actual fact monitor the movement of these people. " Its a sophisticated network that has recently succeded in breaking into network of some banks in order to know the rich and trace the addresses provided in those bank details.
There are infact too many instances to be mentioned. AOKOYA said Denying these facts will not help Yorubaland, the issue is to rise up to the challenge and confront headlong. AOKOYA said it does not expect the authorities in Yorubaland to accept these reports but that events in the few months ahead will confirm the veracity as the Fulani herdsmen are poised to be on greater rampage. “They have four strategies that have helped them. The first is that they maintain the purity of the Fulani control of the kidnap ring.
This has its own strength and weakness. It makes it difficult for penetration by the state or the host communities so as not to discover their modus. On the other hand of its advantage, it nullifies the potential of locals getting involved in kidnapping. Given the degree of poverty in the land, this is an advantage because the Yoruba youths adopting kidnapping as a means of survival will lead to greater social uprising.

Perilous times are here let's take this news seriously. Some policemen belonging to AKS told me similar things last week. They are young fulani men, fully armed. If you cannot pay ransom you are dead. Venerable612: It’s relative. Some, and I would say quite a lot, of graduates from Nigerian Universities too cannot even write application letters. Punctuations are so bad - and they are even bereft of Skills needed by employers these days.
Truth is, many Nigerian graduates are unemployable: largely due to the obsolete system of education though - Polytechnic or University alike.
But the discrimination is not in Knowledge - it’s in the ranks and remuneration structure. It’s a subtle way of influencing prospective students to apply to Polytechnics as well - which would at least reduce the huge population seeking a University degree.
If you ask me - it’s a good thing. But overhaul all the curriculums for courses in the UNI and Polys already- it’s not 21st century like! That is the point. |

Romance › Re: Busari Omolara: Lady Cancels Her Wedding As Fiancé Beats Her by capitalzero: 7:26pm On May 14, 2019 |
titiloyeblog: @titiloyeblog.com
see the previous thread here: https://www.nairaland.com/5183457/wed-august-lady-seriously-battered
Imagine preparing for your wedding, making expenses, informing family and friends of what could possibly be the happiest day of your life, only to cancel it three months before the D-Day?
That was what 29-year-old Omolara Busari did but she is not regretful. According to her, calling the wedding off saved her from a lifetime of misery or, in a worst-case scenario, death.
Omolara said she called off the wedding after receiving the beating of her life from her fiancé, Adelekan Adelufosi.
Omolara, who hails from Iseyin, Oyo State, told The PUNCH that she endured her relationship with 32-year-old Adelufosi for four years.
They had planned to finally get married in August 2019, but their wedding has now been canceled after Adelufosi beat his fiancée to a pulp last Thursday at Iwere-Ile, Iwajowa, Oyo State.
Omolara, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, said she had only challenged Adelufosi for asking her not to ever relate with a woman who lives in their area.
By the time she knew what was happening, she had been admitted to hospital.
She said, “There is a woman who lives in my area, close to my apartment. We were just discussing and greeting each other when he (Adelufosi) showed up.
“Later, he went to the woman’s shop and warned her not to ever see her around me again. When we entered my apartment that night, I asked him, ‘Why did you do that?’
“That was the last thing I remembered saying. By the time I opened my eyes, I found myself in a hospital.”
From last Thursday night, Omolara had been receiving treatment and was discharged on Monday.
But that was not the first time Omolara would get physically assaulted by a man who claimed to love her and make his wife someday.
“That was the fifth time he would beat me,” Omolara said.
Asked why she held on to the man despite his abusive nature for so long, Omolara said it was because she had a daughter for him.
She said, “Actually, I wanted to marry him because I have a daughter, who is two years old, for him. This is what kept me glued to the relationship. But this time around, I don’t care. Our relationship has ended and I have canceled our wedding.
“Right from the beginning, my parents and siblings didn’t approve of our relationship, but I thought maybe after our wedding, he would change.
“We were already planning our wedding for August 2019, but like I said, it cannot hold again.”
Omolara lamented she did not heed her parents’ and siblings’ warning before. However, she was thankful it was not too late for her.
“Now, they (my parents and siblings) are relieved and I have finally learned my lesson. I am so happy that our relationship has ended,” she said.
Omolara said she was more relieved because she would not have to spend her savings on Adelufosi again, who she claimed to have been responsible for since their relationship started.
She said, “He only has the primary school leaving certificate. I am a trader and deal with beverages. He doesn’t have a job and I have been the one taking care of him.
“I used to buy him clothes, shoes, and others. Even the phone he’s using right now, I bought it for him. I was practically taking responsibility for his life.
“Just last week, I gave him N50,000 capital, encouraging him to start selling recharge cards. But after the beating, he burgled my shop and ran away. Up till now, he’s still at large. He was always mad at me for telling him to look for a job.”
Asked what he initially saw in the suspect before agreeing to date him, Omolara said she thought he was a good man because he was “calm and gentle.”
“I never knew he could be this dangerous. I knew his real person when I got closer to him. I also did not know he smokes and drinks alcohol a lot. Anytime I told him what he was doing was not good, he would be angry,” she added.
Asked what she would do if the suspect came back to apologize to her, she replied, “Am I a fool? It can’t happen. I have made up my mind. It was then that I used to fall for his apologies. He can never change.
“He used to threaten me that if I decided to break up with him, he would take our child, and this was why I held on to him for so long. I will raise my daughter, whom I had by Caesarean Section, on my own; I would never let her near him.”
Happy she had finally taken the bull by the horns by ending her relationship with Adelufosi and canceling her wedding, Omolara said the only thing she now wanted was justice.
“I want him to be punished,” she said.
She also told our correspondent that immediately after her discharge from the hospital on Monday morning, she went to report the case to the Divisional Crime Branch, Iwere-Ile Police Station, Oyo State.
Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, on Tuesday proved abortive.
