I wasn't clear in my post. The challenge is actually getting it across to them. It's not so much the money. Getting what across to them? Taxi fare? Since they'll always have a volunteer with them, that shouldn't be a problem. |

ifyalways: They can't be " persuaded "?
Can we look at neighboring countries eg Ghana?
Oga Ralph, thanks. From my findings, to go against the school's policy or persuade them would be difficult. I heard they have stood by that policy for years. It's a boarding school and I think education is free. Probably they have a lot of children trying to get in as well. Maybe with right connections, we could be lucky. Ghana? Tomiwa is 4. |

@ralphlauren, you are making a lot of sense.
We could get a honest paid volunteer. There are several people waiting to get busy. We could pay him/her per visits. |
Health › Re: Please help this 4 Year old little blind boy - He has no one else to turn to by Caracta(f): 9:39am On Jul 25, 2015 |
If the financial strength is there, the father should be able to get off work for a day or two and take his son to the hospital. His wife is pregnant with two daughters to take care of, so I guess we can excuse her. However, that means the bread winner of the house may be unable to provide for his family if he has to get off work for days. I don't think he would agree to that either.
Can we just pay him the wages he would earn in a month so he could concentrate in Tomiwa in one month? But then again, the hospital visits could last several months. I know LUTH. So that option doesn't seem feasible.
This is just me thinking loud.
@tearoses, is it possible to know the days of the week the ophthalmologist at LUTH attend to patients so we can plan towards that? We could even get a Nairalander that works at LUTH and could be our "eyes" there.
Let's not give up on him yet.
PLEASE!!! |

Lol. "Rotimi" in Yoruba means "stay with me". It's mostly for abikus (or ogbanjes) i.e children that keep dying and coming back. You don't have to be Yoruba to answer the name, right? So just keep Amechi where he belongs |

RobinHez: 5. Marie Curie
Marie Curie was a physicist and chemist best known for her work on radioactivity; however, she also discovered the elements polonium and radium. She was awarded two Nobel Prizes — one in physics which she won jointly with her husband and Henri Becquerel, and another in chemistry — and was the first person to win two Nobel Prizes. She is still one of only four people (along with Linus Pauling, John Bardeen and Frederick Sanger) to accomplish that feat. Curie is responsible for establishing the theory of radioactivity, but unfortunately she unwittingly also discovered the fatal effect radioactivity can have on your health; she died on July 4, 1934, of aplastic anemia caused by radiation exposure. https://media.mnn.com/assets/images/2013/07/curie.jpg.638x0_q80_crop-smart.jpg Marie was like a burning fire. Her passion was deep and infectious. I read about her and mehn...this was one brilliant and gorgeous woman. In 2009, she was voted the most inspirational woman in science. The element with atomic number 96 was named "curium" after her or her husband. I'd rather die for something than die for nothing. |
