Politics › Re: Nigeria's Current Leadership Has Lost Focus, Vision - IBB by Cargo36: 12:01pm On Aug 15, 2018 |
nairavsdollars: Former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) on Tuesday said the current leadership in the country lacks the vision, courage and focus to take Nigeria to the promised land.
He made the remark when Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa State and presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), paid him a courtesy visit as part of his ongoing consultations ahead of the 2019 general election.
Babangida said that with Lamido in the saddle, Nigeria will be great again, adding that the former foreign affairs minister has his blessings as far as the 2019 presidential contest is concerned.
The meeting, it was learnt, was part of Lamido’s consultative meeting with former leaders, critical stakeholders, PDP NWC members, party officials and elder statesmen concerning his 2019 presidential ambition. The meeting with IBB was said to have been held at the Minna Hilltop residence of the former leader.
In a statement issued by Lamido’s new media aide, Mansur Ahmed, he noted that “the meeting, with the former military president centered on the presidential ambition of Sule Lamido.
The meeting, which lasted for over an hour, was to pay homage to a man Lamido described as ‘my leader,’ to brief him about our nationwide consultation, and to seek for his prayer, blessing, and advice and to learn from his vast experiences as a former president of Nigeria.
The two leaders also discussed the imperative of working together to ensure that Nigeria remains a safe, stable and united country that deserved to be saved from the amateurs, currently holding sway in the country.”
Lamido was also quoted in the statement to have said that it was in the interest of all that Nigeria remains a stable and united country where Muslims and Christians can live without discrimination.
In his remarks, IBB was quoted in the statement to have said that with “Sule, Nigeria will be great because you are a student of the late Malam Aminu Kano, who sees and perceive life as a struggle for the emancipation of the common man.
“Nigeria needs your kind of leader because the current leadership has lost focus, vision, and courage to lead Nigeria to the promised land. Today in Nigeria, a brother killing a brother, kidnapping, hunger everywhere, we need to stand up and unite ourselves to rescue Nigeria come 2019.”
Lamido was said to have earlier visited the Niger State PDP secretariat and discussed with party officials under the leadership of Tanko Beji, before proceeding to IBB’s residence.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Unfair To Mbazulike Amaechi – Obasanjo by Cargo36: 7:50pm On Jun 24, 2018 |
Nairatrend: @NAIRATREND
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has noted that successive administrations in Nigeria have been unfair to a First Republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi.
Amaechi was a First Republic politician and about the only surviving member of the Zikist Movement. He turned 89 last week.
The former President said this at the Ukpor hometown of Amaechi in Nnewi South local government of Anambra state during the elder statesman’s 89th birthday celebration.
The event attracted dignitaries across the country and Obasanjo, who was represented by Chief Bolaji Osinowo, noted that a man in the status of Amaechi should be celebrated given his contributions to the socio-political and economic emancipation of Nigeria.
He said, “I feel that I am in the presence of a living legend. He was a member of the first cabinet in Nigeria and the first team that piloted the affairs of this country.
“My duty today is to deliver the message of my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He had earlier told me to accompany him to Ukpor for this eventbefore he had an urgent meeting in Angola.
“He calls you his friend and say you are his senior and with what is happening in the country today, leaders like Chief Amaechi who put their lives on the line for Nigeria is receiving an unfair treatment.
“About 93 per cent of Nigerians are not happy with what is going on in this country and in most communities today, people cannot sleep with their two eyes closed for fear of night marauders.”

Politics › Re: Ochereome Nnanna: "Yorubas Are Sophisticated Morons"- Vanguard Editorial Chairma by Cargo36: 10:00am On Jun 09, 2018 |
Already vanguard had compromised the principle of journalism long ago as such is never a surprise to me and others,it is the voice of the enemy contactwale: Mr. Ochereome Nnanna, Chairman Editorial Board of the Vanguard newspapers, has described the Yorubas as "sophisticated morons".
Nnanna made this assertion in his reply to a post on Facebook.
Areh Sunday, a journalist and an aide to Delta State Governor, while reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari's declaration of June 12 as Democracy day on Thursday had gone to his Facebook page to express his disappointment in Yorubas for falling for the antics of the government of the day.
He posted: "I use to think the South-West was very sophisticated. I was wrong. They are the most gullible. They fall for every poisoned carrot dangled before them"
Reacting to the post, Nnanna wrote: "Sophisticated morons, more like"
This comment would not have elicited any reaction from me but for the fact that it was coming from the Chairman of the editorial board of one of the reputable newspaper houses in the country. A man of his status is expected to conduct himself in a respectful and responsible manner consistent with his function as an opinion-molder in the society.
Each and every newspaper is incomplete without the editorial section. They (editorials) are believed to be the heart and soul of newspapers. They display the values and policies of a newspaper and influence policy decisions.
A member of editorial board is expected to be matured, experienced, intelligent and well-informed. He must rise above politics, tribal and religion partisanship. An editorial member should be able to explain all the aspect of any issue in relating with past events, presents scenario and future prospectus. This is not the case with Nnanna as seen in this circumstance.
If this is the opinion of the Chairman of the editorial board of a national newspaper about Yorubas therefore, one should not be surprised about the view and news policies of Vanguard newspapers about the race.
It is my hope that Vanguard newspapers will caution Nnanna and apologise to the Yorubas for the embarrassment he has caused them.

Nonsense as usual what about other people in captivity of negativity damiloladuke: The Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, on Saturday has advocated that the Dapchi girl in Boko Haram custody Leah Sharibu should be awarded a Nobel Prize.
The newly inaugurated ECWA President, Rev. Stephen Panya Baba, made the disclosure while delivering his inaugural speech on the occasion of his installation, at t
The ECWA President said:
“The population of persecuted Christians, widows, orphans and vulnerable children and the poor generally in our churches and mission fields has reached astronomical levels.
“Apart from natural causes and other socio-political factors like ethnic and tribal clashes, the murderous activities of radical Islamists like Boko Haram and some Fulani herdsmen who are jihadists, have contributed very greatly to the rise in the number of widows and orphans in many of our churches today.
“We are also still calling for intensified action by the Federal Government to secure the release of the remaining Chibok girls and of recent, Leah Sharibu, who is being held captive by Boko Haram, for the singular reason that she has refused to deny her faith in our saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.”
According to him, Leah deserves a Nobel prize for her strength of spirit and courage in the midst of “pain and suffering”.
“We call on the international community to act on behalf of Leah Sharibu like they did Malala Yousfzai.
“Let us remember that peace is merely an illusion unless anchored on the bedrock of justice.
“Without justice in our society peace is a mirage, a fleeting shadow beyond grasp”.
“It is for this reason that I call on governments and authorities at all levels to ensure that justice flows like a river in our land by giving each citizen his or her due inspite of religion, tribe, creed or social standing. That is the real way to peace and progress.
“When this happens, the evils and wickedness that have plagued our country will be eliminated,” Baba stressed.
