They should get themselves off the sanctions and probably work to get their economy on good footings instead of this madness.
The west imposed sanctions because of Mugabe and Mugabe is no more and they're still struggling. Mnangwagwa has failed.

ocelot2006: Of course, the AU will meet with Putin. After all, the organization equally represents Northern African countries like Egypt, Tunisia, etc, which rely considerably on wheat. But the fact remains that Sub-Sharan Africa is NOT dependent on wheat-based meals. How many of us eat spaghetti, pastries, or macaroni? There are even many alternatives to semolina like garri, fufu, plantain flour, etc. It would've been a different case if it was rice, but wheat?? C'mon! come to the north and you'd know Nigeria depends on wheat-based foods. My friend is even a wheat farmer up there in the north and the demand is very high. |

AlphaTaikun: @Caseless, you're right. His calmness has a commanding presence. I wish Shinzo and Akie Abe had at least two kids to keep his legacy alive since he comes from a political family.
Just like Shinzo Abe, many Japanese have moved on from the horrendous events of the U.S. Pearl Habour bombings in Hawaii by Japan, including Hiroshima and Nagasaki where those U.S. nukes exploded in 1945.
Lack of forgiveness leads to negative energy on a long-term basis and the Japanese clearly realise this.
In a documentary I watched over 20 years ago (in the 1990s), one of the U.S. pilots (crew member) who flew one of the planes that carried a nuke on board went back to Japan to pay his respects.
Your absolutely right about Japan and China! For instance, the Nanking Province in China invasion by Japan forces was very brutal with mass rapes, just like the Russian (Soviet Union) Red Army engaged in brutal mass rapes on entering Berlin, Germany. Sincere apologies on all sides would heal all wounds. War has negative effects, but then countries have to be on guard to defend themselves after negotiations may have failed.
All the best. spot-on! Forgiveness is key, but I wonder how Japan is still being intensely used by the USA to checkmate China. They forgave those who nuke them and antagonize those(Chinese) they invaded their land. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: DWN: Germany Is Headed For Collapse Because Of Sanctions And Its Own Policies by Caseless: 5:41am On Jul 16, 2022 |
Appleyard: You're so right. It's very hurtful when workers are about to lose their jobs. Some German top companies are already contemplating job cuts due to the inflationary rates that's not receding but increasing each passing month. And once you have job cuts, it means loss of productivity, so the observer was spot on.
The fact is, you cannot replace "cheap" raw materials, especially when you're running an economy that overwhelmingly revolves around industrial manufacturing. You need the cheap raw materials to stay competitive in terms of market price, which has been Germany's secret economic weapon for ages--cheap energy, cheap metal sheets, cheap wood, coal, iron ore, palladium, nickel and so forth.
Even as the country eyes diversification away from some of its dependent sources like Russia, the fact remains that prices of most of those raw materials have skyrocketed, and diversification isn't something you achieve overnight. Therefore, in whatever ways, the German economy is screwed for the time being as it continue to head on the negative side of things, no thanks to the devastating leftover effect of the Covid-19 virus and the ongoing war in Ukraine. I heard the west is violating its own sanctions to return the pipelines taken to Canada for servicing will be returned so gas supply can continue because Germany can't afford 10 days break of non-gas supply from Russia. This war is taking a different turn. |

Imagine the speed with which they'll release the video if were done by the Russian army.
I'm not supporting what's happening in Ukraine, but I feel the double standard should be challenged. They go to people backyard to kill civilians but won't allow such on their own land. I guess that's where Russia drew its inspiration to invade from - the west did it first.
If Russia should not invade, America shouldn't too.
The west should stop seeing their problems as everyone's problems and everyone's problem as not their own problems. When this happens, we can all operate on equal grounds. |

Abe is survived by his wife Akie Abe, née Matsuzaki, who he married in 1987. The couple did not have children. Eyya... This saddens me more than his senseless assassination. He's calm and has contributed immensely to the growth of his country. My only problem with Abe was how he appeared to worship the USA at every turn - forgetting and forgiving the Hiroshima nuclear gift they received from America, but sees China they once muscled as an enemy; at every war memorial, Chinese government always asked the Japanese to apologize for what they did to them. It's embarrassing for a political leader to be assassinated and it's even more embarrassing that it happened in a developed nation like Japan. Rest on, Abe. |

Ibime: What do you mean you don't support Russia on this? Has RichyBlack the militant gone soft ? . . . . . lol. . .
It was Georgia who made the first move in this chess game. The day they invaded South Osettia, I told my friend that they have finished themselves because Russia will retaliate. What, did they think Russia was going to stand by and let that happen? Russia don't play that. The West have just proved that they do not back their allies. They were the ones who told Georgia to invade South Ossetia because Georgia cannot take such a decision independently. Yet when qwatar start, they turned their back on Georgia. 80% of Europe's gas comes from Russia, that is why they didn't back Georgia - because they don't want to freeze this winter. lol.
The people of South Ossetia all own Russian passports, therefore Russia did not break any law by moving in. They've wanted to leave Georgia for a long time but Georgia would not let them go. Now they are seeing that Russsian passport is more profitable than Shengen passport. All of them are celebrating in the streets today - and that is all that matters, not all this nonsense diplomatic arguments about who owns what.
This is a test case for other places like Azerbaijan and Ukraine who have adopted pro-Western and anti-Russian stances. Will the West really back them against Russia or will they chicken out at the last minute as they did with Georgia? This could even also be a test case for seperatist movements in Africa, such as Biafra. . . . . This is relevant right now. |

We all know the truth, but those who believe America can do no wrong won't allow us to say a thing.
You cannot do to others what you don't accept. America feels their interest is above everything in the world and other nations are not allowed to have such sacrosanct national interest.
America hasn't been invaded before, so they don't know what it means for Russia to say No to NATO eastward expansion.
If America hadn't invaded countries before, we won't find reasons to justify Putin's actions. America does not have the moral right to call Putin out when he's obviously borrowing a leaf from them. |

I laugh. How they made this war about media frenzy in the beginning was shocking. Their celebrities who took guns to defend their country, where are they right now? They think say war na Instagram. Zelensky should be toppled. He's stupid to have listened to NATO and dared Russia to have his country destroyed instead of declaring neutrality. They thought their sanctions always work. They ended up sanctioning themselves this time around. Even Boris Johnson that openly said they'd put sanctions on Russia so Russians can be triggered to remove Putin narrowly escaped vote of no confidence twice and he's falling down the popularity order and was forced to step down. Joe Biden is feeling it at home too and inflation has engulfed the whole of Europe. Germany is back to using coal while their stupid chancellor is now joining France in calling for peace. If Angela Merkel was here, there's no way she'd sit and allow this war to unfold. The current German leader even put a lid on nordstream just to please America. We're happy the world is 'multi-polar' right now. America cannot continue to dictate to all of us. Ukraine lost this war and it may never recover again. |
