A woman who hails from Awba area of Anambra state - has gone spiritual after her family woke up to an unusual sight recently. According to the teacher identified as Esson Chucks who lives in Akwa, the state capital - a lizard was tied at the back of her husband's car in the night as the family were reportedly shocked to see such 'diabolic' act the next morning.

After sharing the picture online, the distraught woman called for prayers for her family over fear of the unknown.

The Commissioner for Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment, Hon Mrs Ogechi Ololo, who is rarely seen in public - was spotted recently on Thursday, April 12th at a radio station in Owerri, Imo state capital, where she was featured.

The commissioner came under heavy criticisms after she was appointed by her brother, the governor of Imo state; Rochas Okorocha late last year.

Mrs. Ololo in an interview with BBC Africa challenged Nigerians condemning Gov. Okorocha , saying the ministry was created to cater for welfare of Imo residents.

According to her, the post will pay school fess of Imo citizens who cannot afford it, amongst other benefits.

She said “Happiness can mean anything to anybody; for some people, happiness means having food on their table, some it’s about schools, some about the roads, some it’s about security “Here in Imo we have free education, this policy makes people happy by paying for children’s school fees. So that is the policy of happiness and that is part of the ministry of happiness.”

When asked why Okorocha appointed his sister, she added “Okorocha did not create the ministry because I am his sister.

“There are so many people out there that need help, that need our service. “Happiness can be defined based on individuals reactions.“This is Imo life and I believe that Imo people are very happy about it.

“It is a new ministry and people don’t understand, so they have the right to ask questions but with time they will definitely understand meaning of commissioner of happiness.”

Officials of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and the Nigerian Police discovered a factory where assorted adulterated Stouts, Malts and Gins are being manufactured in Oke-Afa, Igbe, Igbogbo. On Wednesday, 11th of April, 2018, the Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini made this known to the Police for prompt apprehension.

It was gathered that the illegal brewery was producing Malt drinks, stout and ethanol which they pumped into trucks to bottle at another location.

Five of the suspects behind the factory were also arrested by a team led by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who took newsmen to the scene of the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Edgar Imohimi, while at the scene said that the suspects would be subjected to further interrogation to know where the drinks were bottled and sold. He said that the illegal brewery would be sealed and samples of the drinks would be sent to the laboratory for test.

The Police Chief attributed the discovery of the illegal brewery to the efforts of community policing and partnership. According to him, the people of Lagos are showing increasing confidence in the Police. Imohimi urged residents to know their neighbours, saying that vigilance was the only way to have a crime-free society.

"Lagosians can only be productive, contribute their own quota to the development of Lagos State, if they are healthy," he added.

While responding to questions from MegaXpression Magazine, Comrade Olusesan Daini said, ”I want to use this opportunity to advise the people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and Lagos State at large, to be mindful of what they drink as health is precious. Many have died and so many others are suffering from what hearth, liver or kidney problems caused by fake products.That is why we are going to all nook and crannies of to fish out those producing fake drinks and other products.

"These acts are not only hazardous but also criminal, and unaccepted. Our zero-tolerance policy against environmental hazards and crimes remained sacrosanct​," he concluded.

A young trader has been praised following his kind-hearted and honest gesture shown towards a woman who misplaced her expensive phone in Sokoto state. According to reports, the woman who visited the state for an official duty - thought she had misplaced the expensive phone along with the important details and contacts in it.

After trying her line for some days, it finally went through and the young man picked the call and told her he has been looking for how to contact her and that she mistakenly threw the phone on the ground.

The woman who thought she was being deceived, decided to arrange where to meet the young man to collect her phone back and to her surprise and excitement, the young man handed her back her phone.

A 10-year-old apprentice was seriously dealt with by his master after disobeying his orders. Facebook user, Dumeje Okafor, who met the injured apprentice while receiving treatment - revealed that the boy's head was busted by his master in Anambra state.

I was returning from an evening walk, when I saw this little boy in a chemist (patent medicine) shop. The boy was bleeding from the scalp. The chemist was busy bandaging the head and about to administer some injections.Poor management.

I introduced myself to the Chemist and took over management.

Very deep laceration. I cleaned, scraped the hair, found the edges and stitched them up. There was no lidnocaine (anaesthesia), so it was the most harrowing experience for the little boy. I gave him NSAID analgesic and Narcotic injection. But the screams kept coming with each stitch.Yeah I would have referred to a hospital but the caregivers even almost refused my attending to him, for fear that Charges might be exorbitant.

One Emmanuel Titus Udo, male, from Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has been arrested by security operatives and arraigned in court for defaming and maligning the member representing Uyo Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Michael Enyong.

Emmanuel Udo was arrested through the joint effort of the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency(NIA) and the police.

Arraigned before Akwa Ibom magistrate court in Uyo on Monday, April 9, 2018, in a suit titled COMMISSIONER OF POLICE VS EMMANUEL TITUS UDO, the accused (Emmanuel Udo) was slammed with a one count charge of defamation of character.

The defense counsel, Barr. Honesty Akpanam, prayed that the accused be granted bail on lenient terms. Udo was granted bail in the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira(N500, 000.00) with one surety in like sum who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

Emmanuel Udo had operated a fake Facebook account with name Emem Etina and claimed that Hon. Michael Enyong impregnated one Regina Christopher of Itiam Etoi in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

For many weeks, Emmanuel Udo used the fake Facebook account , with fake profile picture of the fictitious Emem Etina, to defame, malign and blackmail Hon. Michael Enyong claiming the federal lawmaker impregnated a non-existing Regina Christopher of Itiam Etoi. He generated and shared the false pregnancy story against Michael Enyong to unsuspecting members of the public.

Concerning the pregnancy story, Investigations revealed that Emmanuel Udo lifted from the website of World Health Organization ( WHO ) picture of a pregnant woman by name Esther Sabouangis , a Cameroonian from Yaoundé receiving preventive malaria Medicine during Pregnancy and posted the picture on the fake Facebook claiming it was that of Regina Christopher of Itiam Etoi whom he falsely said was impregnated by Hon Enyong.

A lady has been left displeased after she was sent away from a church in Awada area of Onitsha, Anambra state for wearing this outfit. According to Mbanefo Nkiru Angel, she was sent back by the church warders who told her to wear a jacket or a scarf to cover her ''naked'' outfit.

The unhappy lady took to Facebook to share what happened. She wrote;

Today that I decided to go to church. My look to church today in awada onitsha. The church warders sent me back. They refused me entering the church saying I should go and look for a jacket or a scarf to cover my shoulder. Shouting that I'm naked. I didn't even talk to them. I just jejely and happily carry my legs and go back. let me go and sleep biko.

A heartbroken Nigerian man has recounted how his brother and others were killed after being crushed by a speeding vehicle when they were accosted by Nigerian Customs officials at Benin by-pass. According to him, the vehicle also crushed 10 other people and left many injured before the Customs officials fled the scene.

Peter Kalu revealed how his brother died in a tragic manner. Read below;

My brother, Mr. Anthony Ufere Uchechi Eke was coming home for Easter 2018. After discussing with him on Tuesday, March 27 on some issues, we ended up that he will take the night bus on Thursday, March 29, to meet me on Friday, March 30, at Aba for us to head home that same Friday, for an Executive meeting of our village (Easter meeting). Though he did not call me again to tell me that he has taken the night bus, yet on Friday morning I started calling him to inquire if he took the night bus or will be taken the morning bus, but nobody picks his calls.

After awhile, I received a call from home that my uncle, Sir Bonaventure Okoro Ibe (CPO) has passed on, as I was crying and weeping; I then received another call from a brother from Lagos telling me that he saw my uncle’s demise picture on Facebook and then started calling Ufere to inquire when that happened, only to his surprise the phone was picked by a Federal Road Safety woman who told him that the owner of the phone was involved in an accident along Benin-Lagos Express way (Benin by-pass) that they should start coming to Benin Teaching Hospital where those injured had being taken to.

He then spread the news to our villagers in Lagos which led to many joining him to Benin, on reaching there, they were taken to the Hospital to go round the wards which they did but could not find him there; having no option left, they were taken to the Mortuary. Lo! And behold, Ufere was lying there lifeless, dead. It was very late then, they slept at Benin and in the morning they got some necessary clearance and took his body down to our village, Umuchiakuma Ihechiowa Arochukwu LGA. Abia State and deposited him in the Mortuary.

But how did the accident occur? They asked, then the story emerges:

Ufere was reported to have board Best Way Transports at Lagos on that Thursday night for Aba, on their way home, around 2.00 am; they were parked by the Nigerian Customs at that Benin by-pass, and all were commanded to come down from the vehicle which they did except eight women that refused to come down; and they started searching the bus as if they were already informed of any country banned item in that bus, they found about seven bags of rice which the owner was not disclosed.

As some of their men were searching the bus, the other men commanded all that came out from that bus to stand in front of that buscar as they were using the light, unknowing to them, another set of Nigerian Customs were pursuing a trailer from the back, and on reaching there, the trailer driver as he wanted to make his way without stopping was confused as he saw on the other side of the road another parked damaged trailer, and since this buscar had taken half of the road, he had no other option then to hit this buscar from the back, and the buscar with that full force crushed everybody that was standing in its front, leaving 11 people dead instantly and many injured.

Those Nigerian Customs instead of rescuing life, they jumped into their vehicle and ran away, and nobody knew how long it took the Federal Road Safety Commission to arrive. That is how I lost my beloved brother and friend for mere bags of rice which even the President GMB won't deny eating foreign rice.

Troops of 72 Battalion Special Forces on 7 April 2018 while on clearance operation in Gbajimba, Baka, Tomanyi, Iyode and Dogon Yashi made contact with armed herdsmen militias at about 1:30pm. The armed herdsmen militia on fighting one troop engaged them in a fire fight. In the exchange of fire, 1 militia herdsman was killed while 1 other with gunshots wounds and 3 others were arrested. 1 Ak 47 assault rifle was recovered after the encounter.

Additionally, at about 2:30pm, 2 other herdsmen engaged in destructive activities on farmlands were arrested at Chembe community. Earlier, Troops of the Battalion on patrol at Jatoaka town effected the arrest of 10 armed robbery suspects linked to an armed robbery incidence at about 4:15am. All the suspects have been handed over to the police.

In Taraba State, at about 12:30am to 02.30am, Troops of 101 Special Battalion conducted clearance operation along road Suntai-Muji-Kungana. During the clearance operation, troops encountered armed bandits who blocked the road and were harassing and dispossessing road users of their valuables. The bandits fled into the bushes on engagement by own troops. A search of the general area led to the recovery of a dane gun. The barricade was cleared and traffic restored.

Similarly, aggressive patrols continue to frustrate armed bandits and deny them freedom of action on road Abuja-Kaduna.

In another incidence, troops of 707 Special Forces Battalion mobile strike team in OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE, prevented the infiltration of troops defensive position by two female suicide bombers. A combined team of 707 Special Forces mobile strike team and 222 Battalion pressured the suicide bombers into detonating their suicide vests killing themselves. Troops remain alert to prevent attacks on civilian population.

Also, a BOKO HARAM Terrorist suspect surrendered to troops in sambisa forest. He is currently under going interrogation at 26 Task Force Brigade. He will be moved to join the de-radicalization program in due course.

Nine policemen were among those killed during Thursday’s robbery attack in Offa town in Kwara State as the death toll keeps rising. Over 25 armed robbers had stormed the town, raiding five commercial banks along the Owode Market Area of the town in Offa Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen arrived the town in seven vehicles and stationed themselves in each of the banks around 4:30 pm.

The armed robbers were said to have made away with several millions of naira from the banks.

A policeman has reacted to the death of his colleagues in the Offa robbery by saying they are not going to hide themselves because death is everywhere.

He took to Facebook to post pictures of him and another colleague with their guns as he wrote; We are not going to hide ourselves because we know the is death everywhere even in the village we prayed for long life,May God protect us

All the six suspects who were declared wanted after allegedly fleeing from police custody in Kogi State on March 28 have been re-arrested, the police have said.

Kabiru Seidu (a.k.a Osama), Nuhu Salisu (a.k.a Small), Aliyu Isa, Adams Suleiman, Emmanuel Audu and Musa Mohammed who were under detention at the ‘A’ Division Lokoja allegedly escaped from lawful custodyhours before they were due to be arraigned in court in Lokoja, the state capital.

They were arrested on allegations of working as political thugs and suspected assassins for Dino Melaye, a serving senator from Kogi West Senatorial District.

The police said last month that two of the six suspects had confessed to being armed and financed by Mr. Melaye.

Mr. Melaye denied links to the suspects and threatened to sue the police for defamation.

The suspects were arrested at different locations last week, and the last, Mr. Seidu, was arrested on Sunday night in Bauchi State, according to reports.

Following the recent attack on Bawan Daji community in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State where some lives were lost, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, directed that Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces be deployed to Gusau, as part of efforts to stop the incessant banditry attacks.

Accordingly, the NAF Special Forces, who were trained in asymmetric warfare, were airlifted from Kaduna with the NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft to complement the efforts of other security forces on ground to prevent further attack on innocent citizens.

The personnel and other supporting staff would operate from the recently established 207 Quick Response Group in Gusau, where they would reinforce the existing Regiment personnel in the Unit in support of the ongoing Operation SHARAN DAJI in the State.

In his address to the troops at Gusau shortly before their deployment earlier today, 3 April 2018, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Ismaila Kaita, announced that the Special Forces would be further deployed to remote areas of Zamfara State, where they would be engaged in Internal Security operations.

He therefore further urged them to effectively utilize their experience and training to protect the lives and properties of the people of Zamfara State. He added that the NAF leadership expects the Special Forces to exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and respect for human rights in discharging their duties.
