Three officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) were killed by unknown gunmen in Kogi state last Friday. According to reports, the incident occurred when six officers of the agency were on duty at one of their post around the main gate of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Okene where Onwumere Nicholas, Peter Ebun and Abdulrahman Musa lost their lives. According to reports, the gunmen ran away with two rifles belonging to the deceased officers. Mr Tunde Ipinmisho, a relative of the deceased Ebun Peter, took to Facebook to mourn the loss and also lament the alarming state of insecurity in Kogi. When Will the Days of Evil End in Kogi State? Three officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on routine patrol to rid the state of illicit drugs and psychotropic substances, were on Friday night ambushed and shot dead in Okene, Kogi State. They did nothing wrong other than carry out the commitment they signed to when they took up their jobs, to use the instrumentality of their office to help make Nigeria a better country. The tragic incident has further reinforced the not too far fetched belief in many quarters that Kogi State is today the most dangerous territory to visit or travel through. One of those killed is Sunday Olumayowa Ebun Peters, my 41 year old first cousin ( her mother is my mum's immediate elder sister). Sunday's mother who is in her 80s has remained inconsolable since elders of our community summoned the courage to break the unsavoury news to her. His death has also cast a pall on the community as folks recall the various roles he took on in his life. He was a photographer, hunter, choirmaster of the local Catholic Church and a frontline role player in community affairs. As usual, the law enforcement agencies in Kogi State have announced that they are on top of the matter. We know better. There is a more fundamental problem in Kogi State. There is no government in place that could genuinely be called by that name and there is no governance of any sort. When you put the unprepared in power, the fabric of state suffers abysmal decay. Tomorrow, we will let Sunday down into the grave and will leave him there to bear our loss. However, the question would still need to be answered as to when it would be safe again for decent, law abiding citizens of Nigeria to visit Kogi State without nursing fears about what fate awaited them in the hands of kidnappers, gunmen, hoodlums (in and out of government) and ritualists and contract killers. Those should ordinarily be in a position to answer the question are too drunk with graft to bother. Source; https://www.nationalhelm.co/2017/10/ndlea-officers-killed-by-gunmen-in-kogi.html

A Nigerian lady identified as Ay Nana, revealed how she was recognized by a solider at a military checkpoint in Adamawa state. According to her, she paid a visit to her village in Adamawa and was recognized by a soldier when they reached a checkpoint near her village as she and other travelers were told to remove their coverings due to security situation in the area. The lady disclosed that she was shocked after the soldier recognized her and even labelled her a trouble maker on Facebook. Below is what she shared on the social media platform. The last time I saw my daddy's grave.....it was extremely beautiful. His elder sister took care of it, she sold one of his house for N600 to cement the place to make it look that beautiful. His sister died some years ago, and am not sure if anyone took care of it since then, but boko haram did not make it any better. I went to the village yesterday and by Allah boko haram don't mean a damn thing.....we all know hell is waiting for them. I give it up to all the soldiers along that axis, and the soldiers in and around our homes. A soldier recognised me from Facebook.....I was shocked. We got to a checking point near my village where we had to get off the car and walk.....I was sort of limping plus the sun, it wasn't funny at all. We also had to remove any covering and leave it in the car as you can see me in this picture looking like a hundred and ninety days tired bride. The next thing I heard was....."Nana so na like this you small like ant, chai I don suffer, and you go dey Facebook dey find trouble' I almost fainted......to make it even sweeter.....he said ' you and Cyber Agbero aka Ijeoma Ogbulie Eugene can sabi find trouble for Africa, that one wey suppose be Nigerian Military Spokes woman'. I was like.....just shoot me, I wanted to jump on him with the biggest hug ever, but I respected my self cause I may end up frenching him. He refused to tell me his name or his Facebook name. Just like my brother, A Bala Usman that can hide his face for Africa but he is a great soja man fighting for us. There is a lot to talk about....let me leave it alone fes. May Almighty punish all participants of Boko Haram severely. Source; https://www.nationalhelm.co/2017/10/soldier-recognizes-woman-checkpoint-facebook-see-told.html

Some South Africans have really poured their minds out concerning how they feel about Nigerians. According to them, Nigerians are the top drug dealers in their country as they claimed that security operatives are scared to arrest them (Nigerians). A prominent South African media outlet posted a video footage of the Nigerian student Ibrahim Badmus who was killed yesterday by policemen in South Africa after being accused of selling drugs. Rather than mourn the loss of the young man, South African online users were happy about his death with some saying that Nigerians should leave their country or face similar outcome. A little girl named Emem, who was one of the children picked on the streets of Eket in Akwa Ibom state during a campaign tour by the Ministry of Women Affairs, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and related matters (NAPTIP), and Child Protection Network (CPN), has been reunited with her father. This child was handed over to the CRARN personnel for care and reunification. The girl was giving different stories and locations out of fear of going back to her parents. But the light beamed one day as she confided in one of the children in the center her reasons for not revealing her father's location so her friend divulged it to a caregiver. Her reasons included long term starvation in the churches in the name of fasting, rejection by friends in the school, torture by her father and stepmother ( who's also a prophetess.) She said she roved different prayer houses for more than a year without going to school. She narrated her ordeal in the hands of a prophet who kept her standing in the nights till daybreak so that she would not be called out to the coven. Anytime she slept off she would be brutalized with belts and sticks. When she could not bear the brunt of the beatings any longer, she sneaked out of the church and ran away. Since then, she's been roaming the streets and sleeping in the bush or uncompleted buildings with other street children . She said when her father met her one day, he rained curses on her and prayed that she dies soon. Her father was present yesterday in the Centre signing documents to accept her back home.
