Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu on Monday visited Former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) in his country home in Minna, Niger state. Addressing journalists after meeting IBB behind closed door, Kalu said they spoke about 2019 presidential elections.

According to him, they agreed that even if President Muhammadu Buhari will not contest in 2019, the north should produce the next President.

He, however, stated that after the north Presidency, the next President in 2023 should come from other part of the country to forge cohesion, stressing that he would not mind to be a President.

The Former Governor also defended his earlier position on the disclosure that IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has gone to London through Malaysia.

Kalu when asked if he wants to contest the 2019 Presidency if Buhari did not run, said: “I am a Nigerian, I am entitled to it but like I will always say and I maintain my position that northerners should be allowed to complete their second term.

A girl was humiliated after she was caught while trying to play a fast one on a lady in Delta state. According to reports, a lady who wanted to withdraw money from the ATM at GT Bank was discouraged due to the long queue as she reportedly gave her ATM card to a girl who is said to be in SS2 - to help her withdraw N10,000.

According to reports, the girl reportedly withdrew N70,000 for herself (N50k which she transferred to her account and N20K which she kept in her pocket)...

After making the transfer, the girl decided to disappear but was confronted by the owner of the account who chased her with a motorcycle and was shouting 'thief-thief'.

The girl was immediately nabbed by passersby and it was discovered that the girl was a secondary student in one of the schools in Sapele area of Delta state and helps her mother to sell at Okirigwhre market.

The Nigerian Police in Cross River State on Saturday rescued a kidnapped victim and her car in Odukpani Local Government Area after 5 days in captivity. According to reports, one of the suspect was killed by police personnel in the exchange of fire while some live cartridges were also recovered.

It was also gathered that the Kinping of the gang escaped with bullet injuries and the men of the police are still after him, while the victim is fine and being taken care of.

A Nigerian man simply identified as Jarule, from Ifako, Lagos, was shot dead, this morning, by some trigger happy security operatives in South Africa, for allegedly owing about N6,000 in rands. The incident took place at Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD). .

According to Charles, who is an eyewitness and his friend, Jarule pays N6,000 at the parking lot, monthly. It was alleged that Jarule was shot twice by the security men for owing for a month.

On 2nd September, 2017, following a distress call that one Paul Onyili 'm' and Engr Nnamdi Onyili 'm' were robbed of their cars, Range Rover sports, Reg. no Lagos: MUS 644 BB, and Hilux Jeep Reg. no: Lagos LND 685 EW, discreet investigation led to the arrest of one Kenneth Chikwe 'm' a dismissed policeman who was arrested at Awka with bullet injuries. His confession further led to the arrest of his accomplice one Uzohu livingstone 'm' 51years at Owerri and the recovery of the two robbed vehicles by the Police.

Both suspects have provided useful information that could lead to the arrest of other gang members and possible recovery of other stolen vehicles in their possession. So far, exhibits recovered include the following: Range Rover Jeep, Hilux Jeep, One AK 47 Rifle, Twenty (20) rounds of live ammunition, One K2 Rifle with fifteen rounds of live ammunition, One pump action gun with five cartridges and One locally made pistol

Meanwhile, Police detectives attached to the Anambra state Command have arrested at Oko in Orumba North L.G.A of Anambra state, one Chinonso Arunobi 'm' a.k.a Santos, aged, 23years involved in series of armed robbery, cultism and murder. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was a member of the gang that killed one Chibuzor Ajaedo 'm' at Nkpor sometime in 09/11/2016.

One locally made double barrel pistol and one live cartridge recovered from the suspect.

Scores of villagers were killed in a horrifying boat mishap which occurred in Yauri local government area of Kebbi state on Tuesday, October 3. The boat which reportedly carried at least 50 people capsized in the river - killing at least 16 villagers who were on the way to a market when the accident occurred. 17 people are reported to have survived with others missing.

The corpses of the victims have been deposited at the General Hospital Yauri, Kebbi State.

It was an emotional moment for man whose lovely wife threw a surprise birthday party. Some masquerades have been arrested by officers of the Lagos state police command after causing chaos at Elere area of Agege Lagos. According to the police officials, the masquerades were apprehended alongside other hoodlums for robbing members of the community and also causing breach of the peace in the area.

The masquerades who were not backed by the traditional ruler in the area tried to attack the policemen during their arrest, according to the police...

Stanley ‘Edo Boy’ Eribo of Nigeria has retained the Welterweight African Boxing Union Championship belt following his victory over Ramadhan Shauri of Tanzania at the GOtv Boxing Night 12 in Lagos. The seven-bout event which witnessed a sell-out capacity crowd at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, was at all times driven to ecstasy following the explosive displays of the boxers.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that top of the scheduled event of the day was Eribo going pound for pound with Shauri who lived up to his billing as both boxers worked tenaciously to cancel each other out.

The bout dragged into the 12th round where the judges scored the fight 118-109, 120-108, 120-107 in favour of Eribo.

Edo boy as he is fondly called by his fans, also went home with the best boxer of the night award — the Mojisola Ogunsanya trophy and N2.5 million.

Eribo told NAN after his victory that he was delighted to retain his belt and heaped praises on his opponent for giving him a good fight.

“It was a tough fight for me; I thought I would round him up early in the fight when I landed a heavy punch in the first round that made him hit the canvass. “He kept on coming and never gave up and was strong enough to withstand the heavy blows I landed on him.

“Indeed, he is a great boxer in the category, I had to change my strategy and worked more on the good jabs which eventually counted at the end,’’ Eribo said.

A huge python was caught and killed by residents in Owerri, Imo state. According to a social media user who shared these photos, the poisonous reptile was caught after wrecking havoc in the area and also the increasing disappearance of livestock...

After the python was caught, it was butchered in front of the people including children who gathered to see it.

Spain is facing a political crisis after Catalans voted in favor of independence in a contested referendum that descended into violence when police launched a widespread crackdown on the vote. The Catalan government said it had earned the right to independence from Spain after results showed 90% of those who voted were in favor of a split.

While the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are seeking for a breakaway/freedom from Nigeria, an IPOB member was spotted proudly rocking a biafran outfit to show solidarity while voting for the Catalonia referendum. According to him, what is about to happen in Spain will also happen in Nigeria.
