gasparpisciotta:The next change in senate presidency will happen in 2021 and it is going to the NW or SW, most likely NW. President will come from NC or NE, VP will come from SS. It is good that SE is realigning but SE is late to the party. You earn your positions in politics and newcomers cannot leapfrog those who have toiled and stayed the course. My 2031 permutation. Presidency NC, VP SS, SP NW, DSP SE, Speaker SW, Deputy NE, SSG. NW. |
OredoPikin:Oga e don do. You are now just prolonging a conversation without adding any value. Good night! |
OredoPikin:Again like I said you can’t be a good programmer if this is how you program. Present an argument that makes sense. That’s all! Your assumptions and arguments must hold water, must make sense based on facts and reasonable assumptions before we even get to your conclusions. You believe Atiku will win, I don’t. The problem is your presumptions and arguments don’t even make sense so yoir conclusion is not even worth considering. |
OredoPikin:Oga we recognize intelligence, logical or critical thinking by the quality and integrity of your utterances and posts. If you are a SAN and talk like a beer parlor patron, then i am not giving you any briefs, if anything I will question how you became a SAn and possibly a Quota system political SAN. Again with due respect, the type of critical, logical reasoning and analysis required in programming is absent in your political analysis. i couldnt care less what you claim you do for a living, it doesnt reflect in your posts. i can respecfully disagree if you present a logical agreement. You can write a program to work for me or a program to work against me. In both cases the program must have logical flow behind it or the program has no integrity...it will fail whether it is a code meant to aid me or a code aimed against me. I dont have to agree with you I can agree to disagree and respect your argument (program) the problem is you dont have an argument (program) that will pass an integrity test. |
OredoPikin:Educated Nigerians who can think logically once removed from their professional environment are very few.. that you are involved in a profession that involves logic is not being reflected in your current political analysis. The forces that want him to lose are more powerful than the forces that want him to win. The powerful forces that will determine where the majority of votes will go in the next election are alligning with the president. its really as simple as that. BTW based on the logic you have displayed in my brief interaction with you, any programs you write must contain a lot of bugs. Once a zone loses its slot, it has lost it's slot. Atiku cannot hand over to a Northerner after denying a southerner his 2 terms. Is this the logic with which you write programs? you argument (if i can even dignify it bay calling it that) has no basis in fact or logic and with due respect emotional waffle. I expect better from a coder. But like I said educated Nigerians have a habit of leaving critical thinking in the class room or the workplace,. |
Lalami3232:actually traditionally rulership in Africa is a matter of birthright. |
theredaddy:you have to have common sense to be able to choose to use it. |
OredoPikin:One day you will learn how to read situations logically and critically without bias and without emotions. It’s actually a good quality to posses, the ability to put yourself in the shoes of your opponent and actually contemplate a situation that does not favour you. That way you can actually devise a solution that favours you but if you keep seeing every situation as favoriting you even when it doesn’t in reality you are only setting yourself up for failure. It is not in the interests of the Northern politicians with the power to deliver votes to support Atiku. How many are with him in ADC? Is his own state governor? You sound like the type of man who thinks a girl likes him because she looked at him, ie reading every situation the way you want it to mean irrespective of the reality. |
theredaddy:if you were schooled enough to a level of intellectual capability and function to understand the implications of what you read, you will understand that dollar headache is your headache. If every dollar you get for a barrell of Oil buys you less and less every year due to the recklessness of the country that owns the dollar, you should be concerned about the reckless printing of the dollar and the fact that it is the worlds reserve currency. Your major exports are in a currency that is worthless. it also affects you as an import dependent economy, because you need more dollars to buy the things you import. Clearly this is above your paygrade. America's debt to GDP is 124%, Nigeria's is 40% the problem is not Nigeria but America. |
OredoPikin:we've always told ypeople that Tinubu will win in 2027 and all the talk of North against Tinubu is noise from people without power. I have said it many times, politics is about interests. Northerners who actually control power, structures and votes are eyeing 2031. Supporting Atiku and Obi does not aid their personal ambitions. It is in their interests to eliminate Atiku and Obi as a political force once and for all in the lead up to 2031. In 2031 Tinubu will not contest, Atiku will be too old and Obi is zoned out. Anyone who felt the truly powerful Northern politicians wont support Tinubu is a toddler in politics. Like him or hate him, he is their best bet in 2027. Like you have just exemplified, politics is about interests. You do what is in your interest. No permanent friends, no permanent enemies only loyalties to your interests and those who serve it. |
she should have whispered a word in the ear of the Americans. They incurred so much debt, printed so much money to pay for wars and exported inflation around the globe as a result and are now trying to strangle everybody with trade wars simply because they are technically bankrupt and cant pay their debt. many people may not know, The USA is technically insolvent. They cant pay their debts, they pay by printing more dollars (just like Buhari did) the result of which is inflation. many cuntries are worried that printing of dollars has made dollars less valuable as a currency so were mooting an alternative to the dollar. Ghaddafi tried to create an African currency backed by our resources in the ground and they killed him. BRICS are trying to create their own currency and Trump has waged war on BRICS. They didnt kill Ghadaffi because he was a bad man, they arent interested in phantom Nigerian christian genocide because of Goodwill, they are trying to take down anyone or any country they see as a threat to the dollar. Because once the dollar goes...American cant print its way out of it's debt. Many people also do not know that a lot of the problems many countries face is down to the dollar. When they keep printing dollars, more dollars goes into circulation and the dollar loses its value and your dollar buys less and less every year. This particularly hurts mineral and natural resource exporting countries because each dollar you get buys less. This is why crypto and gold are rising. because the dollar is actually more or less worthless. |
Jakumo:Its not even that. Obasanjo has always promoted himself a a "Nigerian" he has always used the accidental fortune of being the one who accepted the surrender of Biafra (it was nothing to do with him) to promote himself as an apostle of one Nigeria. His success and trust has been based on having no sentiments towards or against any tribe. Its not in his twilight days that he will make such a statement. the problem and the ammusing part of these people and their propaganda is they are not intelligent enough to think through a good propaganda...then again when you consider their audience I guess they dont have to. Obasanjo does not make comments about tribe or tribal groups or leaders......never has! |
I remember the Arise interview with senator ogunlewe. "the master is on the game"
|
this is a lie. Obasanjo can never say this. |
No doubt Tinubu messed up big time here. This is my theory: he is under pressure to grant Kanu pardon after his inevitable conviction. Those packaging a pardon for Kanu suggested using these pardons as a front runner. It has backfired. I can’t see how a smart man could not see how this was always a bad move except he was blinded by a different agenda. Releasing terrorists, bandits, murderers, drug peddlers can never fly amongst supporters and critics alike. He goofed! And I have posted previously, if he pardons Kanu I will not vote for him. This is the first time I can remember that I agree with Amnesty international. |
Ebubu:They say borrowing is bad. They celebrate governors who dont borrow. so forget about rail, they are still saving to build roads one at a time. Smart people and the financially literate know that instead of using your IGR to execute small projects. You can leverage the IGR to execute massive projects and use the IGR income to service the loans thus accelerating development. The irony is the more projects you can execute the more IGR you will receive in addition to what you have to execute more projects. It’s what Lagos has always done and it’s how Wike is able to embark on so many projects simultaneously. Financial literacy and wizardry is not picked up on the streets. I admire Soludo as a person but I was shocked and disappointed when he (a former CBN governor) was boasting he doesn’t borrow! Any governor in a developing economy who has the capacity to borrow for infrastructure with a stream of income (IGR) to sustain the loans and doesn’t, should be sacked for gross incompetence. Such a person is not fit for the job! Even in developed economies, govts takes advantage of any drop in interest rates to refinance existing loans at a lower interest to free up cash flow to take more loans and yet in a country hungry for infrastructure you are boasting about not borrowing? Unfortunately when we elect leaders we don’t examine them properly, don’t ask the right questions, focusing instead on tribe religion party etc. |
You know an empire has peaked when small countries are calling your bluff. Nobody really send America again. |
I'm just laughing at the low interest in this thread. This is too much for Nairalanders, many have had to take panadol just reading the title. You see why we cant make top 70 countries by average IQ list? |
rofanx13:Nigerians overate ourselves. You only have to read a page on nairaland, any page, any thread. trust me any foreigner reading nairaland will have a very low impression of Nigerians. |
it is small boys and broke men that are interested in pleasuring a woman because they have nothing else to offer. A man will hustle in this Nigerian jungle, traffic, corruption, nepotism, and then instead of his wife to pleasure him, she wants to be pleasured? Better be pleasured by my bank account and the fact that i can pay you and your children's bills. I repeat no man who is successful in Nigeria should be interested in a woman's pleasure. |
FreeIgboho:The irony is she will get a job in her field before many studying fashionable courses like engineering, law or economics. The job market is ultimately demand and supply. Oversupply of graduates in fashionable courses leads to unemployment and lower wages, under supply of graduates in unfashionable careers lead to higher wages. Plus she is likely to better trained as she will get focused attention from her lecturers. Many may not know but lecturers are also assessed by how well their students perform. |
malali:Is he the one sharing it? Did you read the article? This is Nigeria, people do things in your name without consulting you to seek favour. Apart from that I agree with your post. I would have thought they had better ways to impact the public rather than politicize religion if they are truly a Christian group. |
bestofnollywood:The difference between Abiodun and NNanji is that Abiodun was intelligent enough to read the law….that you only need to tender the minimum qualification required and did not forge or submit any certificate from OAU. The issue wasn’t over his attendance or degree from Kennesaw state university but his claim to have attended/graduated from OAU. He didn’t submit any certificate from OAU. |
tplayer:80’s was still very ok. In fact I would say mid 80’s was the peak. Things started to deteriorate in the mid ‘80s (I would say around 83-85) however it did not start to manifest until the late ‘80s, early ‘90s when the old guard from the ‘60s started to retire and the best of the graduates from the ‘80s shunned academia. You could also say the same with the civil service, though the rot there in terms of becoming unattractive for the best graduates started earlier in the 1970s. |
tplayer:Oh I agree with you completely. They’ve all gone to the dogs. Law is probably the only course where you can still get top lecturers who teach because they want to teach but actually make their income from private practice. Or you find those who have excelled in private practice turn to the classroom to teach. |
nairavsdollars:It’s very simple. It’s called trickle down economics. I have to have confidence in the economy to set up a factory. When I set up the factory, I employ workers. When I employ workers, they get paid, when they get paid they spend money, the money they spend then flows into the economy everywhere they spend that money, the clothes seller, the show seller, school fees, uniforms,, the food seller etc But I can’t employ workers to work in the factory until the factory is complete and even though the conditions to build a factory are now favour able, you dont build a factory in a day or even a year. It takes time to raise finance, it takes time to construct, during that period few jobs are created for the poor. But it all starts from the entrepreneur having the confidence in the stability of the economy and it takes time from having that confidence to establishing/investing or expanding his business. For example Dangote has just started a new cement plant in Ogun, it takes time before the plant is complete and they start employing workers. Dangote just imported 10,000 trucks requiring at least 10,000 drivers and 10,000 assistants for each truck but the petrol they will distribute cannot be produced until the refinery is finished and the construction took 10yrs so until it was finished he did not need 10,000 drivers but the moment he started construction, the jobs were coming. I am not saying it wil take 10 years for jobs for the poor to arrive. The scale of the jobs at Dangote is reflected in the scale of the refinery. Most jobs will take less time to manifest but the point is they take time. It flows down and the poor are the last to feel the effects….that’s just how it is. When you see the stock market rising, it means companies are doing well and will invest in expansion, it means they will create more jobs. MTN is making money, declaring g huge profits, they will expand their network. To expand they have to order equipment, it takes time to manufacture and import the equipment. It is only when the equipment lands that they can employ, engineers labourers, etc to deploy the equipment. Point is there is a lag between the decision to invest and when the jobs are actually created. |
tplayer:And in defense of lautech and some of the state universities that were established in the 1980s. Many of the pioneering staff came from the established universities often part time. Many of them would moonlight at state universities as a service to their states of origin as well as to make some extra money. So those who attended state universities in the 80s and 90s would have also benefitted from top lecturers trained at Ivy League universities . The pioneer VC of lautech was a distinguished elite professor. O.L Oke. So many state universities at that time would have benefitted to a large extent from the same high quality lecturers in the tier 1 universities. The problem with the universities today is the caliber of lecturers that replaced the those early pioneers. |
tplayer:Oga that you were taught by someone from Cornell does not make it the norm in lautech or any university in Nigeria today. In my days ALL our lecturers were from Ivy League universities. They wouldn’t employ you in the pioneer universities otherwise. I apologize for using lautech, it wasn’t directed specifically at LAUTECH. I could swap it with most universities in Nigeria today. These days you employ who is available to employ and will accept the pittance of a wage they pay because the very best don’t see education as a career option. I know it is hard for many to understand. If you have no experience of better, you think what you have is the best. Those who have experienced the best on the other hand can never rate anything less. |
