You don’t subscribe to violence but you demolished state house of assembly? You do pass your power, Yeye dey smell! |
2special:Owned by uzor Kalu |
Bluntguy:You mean run away? When Lanu absconded, Abaribe started making excuses, he wasn’t ready to go to prison. Abaribe is probably our most useless senator! |
Watch as the women will come in for Obi for calling sexual harassment a triviality |
[quote author=Bestmanfornow post=134371506]Common sense is far from you while a trader in Anambra is doing business making huge profit and building 5 Storey houses everywhere a factory worker is struggling to build old bungalow with brown roof in your state [/ Your IGR suggests your residents are not of the quality you think they are. Good night! |
Bestmanfornow:Oga you are just daft and shortsighted. 1 million okada riders earning 100k a month is 1.2trillion annual GDP but they are of no value to a state because by law they provide no taxable income. Whereas 10 high value employees earning a combined 1billion a year pay N210m in income tax to the state. If your state cannot attract the kind of companies that have employees that can pay those levels of taxes then your GDP is just story for the gods. GDP that does not translate to revenue for the state or country is meaningless for development. Agriculture may be our highest contribution to GDP but most of them are poor farmers who don’t pay taxes, on the contrary they suck resources from the govt in the form of agricultural aid, seeds, farm equipment, fertilizer tractors, extension aid etc. 1 large scale agric entity like presco, okumu, or Olam contribute more in taxes than 1 million small scale farmers. That is why the quality of the “GDP” matters. You can have 1 million farmers in a state with combined GDP in the trillions but the government will not get a single penny out of any of them in taxes to build roads, schools etc. but the taxes from just one 10,000 hectare plantation will give you enough revenue from taxes to build multiple schools and roads every year. Okomu Oil for example paid 17b in profit taxes last year, this does not include things like VAT income tax, import duties etc etc. if you have 20,000 farmers with 1ha each their output will be roughly the same but you won’t get a penny out of them. Like I said you will be the one paying them. That’s the difference in the quality of residents and investments. That is why the GDP of Anambra is similar or slightY higher than my state but we make 5 times their IGR. We have higher quality residents. Which is down to higher quality businesses. Which is a reflection of infrastructure. |
Bestmanfornow:Oga all that one is story. If the contribution of trade was as high as you think, it would reflect in your IGR. What is your IGR? What is the turnover of those indigenous industries and markets? What your IGR shows is that you are attracting low quality investors and residents. Figures don’t lie. People are talking about billion dollar investments this one is talking about markets. You have the largest market in Africa well done, how much do they contribute to IGR, like I said One company in my state contributes more than your entire state’s IGR…..read that again and let it sink in….. just one company. All your indigenous and 38 largest markets in Africa is not equal to 1 company in my state. You are atttracting low quality investors, investments and residents. You are attracting low quality businesses because you don’t have the infrastructure to attract the big boys. |
Bestmanfornow:My state has an IGR larger than the entire SE and 5x Anambra. One company in my state contributes more to my state’s IGR than Anambra entire IGR. Maybe if you actually leveraged the small you have and borrowed for development you might catch up. Investors don’t care if you borrowed or saved to build your infrastructure, what they will not do is come to nvest or live while you have inadequate infrastructure. Without investors, you don’t get the high quality employees and residents who pay higher income taxes etc. There is only so much IGR you can get from okada riders and farmers. Your high net worth investors, graduates etc come to my state to invest and get employment because your state does not have the adequate infrastructure and opportunities for them. Thus they contribute to the increased IGR which services our loans. An investor looking to invest in Anambra who is deterred by inadequate infrastructure will go elsewhere and once that opportunity is gone it is gone. When you finally build your infrastructure, he will tell you he has already invested elsewhere. Dangote’s refinery could have been built in ondo or Ogun states, Lagos was not his first choice but they missed the opportunity and Lagos pounced, The opportunity is lost forever for Ogun and Ondo. |
XerXers:Even Dangote borrowed money to get where he is. It shows financial illiteracy for an underdeveloped state country to celebrate not borrowing especially in an inflationary environment. You were eyeing a car 2 years ago, your money wasn’t complete, today you can’t even afford to buy the tyres of the car. If you had taken a loan, your interest would be based on the price 2 yrs ago, you would be half way through paying it off and the car is now worth more than what you paid for it. But you decided to save because debt is bad abi? and now even okada you can’t afford to buy today with your savings! 1: If a road costs N100b in 2022 and he had borrowed the money locally, that road will probably cost N300b today. Which means that road will never get built, which means any economic multiplier effect from the road gets pushed further forward. But if he had borrowed the money then, the road will be completed now, the interest will be based on N100b not N300b, the IGR would rise as a result and he would have more money to pay off the loan. If he was waiting till he had the money to build the road the road would never start or if he was doing it small small, inflation would keep raising the price of the road such that it is never completed. Example 2: Wike needed to build roads but he had no money, he went to the banks and said I have x amount from my IGR every month I can spare, how much can you borrow me if I pay x every month? That is how Wike got the money to build the roads he is building in Abuja today. He didn’t wait till money is complete. Only ignoramuses celebrate being debt free when you have serious infrastructure deficit. I am actually disappointed in Soludo for that. I would have thought he knew better. These are basic simple rudimentary financial and economic principles. Time value of money and in an inflationary environment you you borrow for development because tommorow the price is higher |
I repeat what I have said time and time again, it is ignorant people that celebrate not taking loans when you are in desperate need of development. |
madridguy:Except drawing board no dey again. |
iamnotillicit:You are wicked! |
I don’t understand…..the account holder can’t be traced or what? |
femi4:If I have to articulate the gains of the currency floatation to an educated Nigerian in this day and age, I will be wasting my time because it would mean you are not interested in having a logical argument just having an argument to vent frustration. Because those who are objective know the benefits. All opposition advocated the floating of the Naira which means everyone knew it had to be done! |

mrvitalis:When I see people complain about the dollar, devastating as it may be, be grateful you weren’t around the dollar fell from N1:$1.6 within 4 years to N12: $1….that’s the equivalent of going from N220 to N4400 (in 4 not 10 years) At least we now have something to show for it, there was nothing to show for the fall that started in the Buhari Babangida era which was why it continued to fall till 2015. |
Zionmdde:Oga I am not a spokesman for the cement industry. There was awareness at the time. It was all over the news and even threads about it on Nairaland. https://www.nairaland.com/7882612/anyone-bought-bua-cement-n3500#126494781 Make of the info what you want but the majority of our problems are Nigerians themselves. Agric middle men who had been hoarding grains are now complaining that the prices are going down. Unpatriotic fuel importers are complaint that Dangote has reduced prices. Ordinary Nigerians are the major problem of Nigeria. https://dailypost.ng/2023/10/01/bua-cement-reduces-cement-prices-to-n3500-per-bag/ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/10/breaking-bua-reduces-price-of-cement-to-n3500-bag/ https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/bua-ceo-gives-reason-for-failed-plan-to-slash-cement-prices-to-naira3500-2024092617042757194 “BUA Cement Chairman Abdulsamad Rabiu has disclosed how his company's attempt to reduce cement prices to ₦3,500 per bag was thwarted by unscrupulous dealers. During the 8th Annual General Meeting on Thursday, August 29, Rabiu detailed how the dealers exploited the company's price reduction policy to gain profit. Rabiu explained that many dealers failed to pass on the savings to customers despite BUA Cement's decision to lower prices. Instead, they capitalised on the situation, inflating prices to as much as ₦7,000 or ₦8,000 per bag while purchasing from BUA at ₦3,500.“ |
Zionmdde:They reduced the price to the distributors but the distributors did not reduce their price to the customer and were pocketing the difference so they put it back up. At least that’s what they said. |
lagosrd:Let the matter go to court. Why are you so determined for the matter to be withdrawn? It is like you are afraid of knowing the truth She has no evidence. It’s is not the first time she has made false accusation of sexual harassment. Someone that sued her now husband because he refused to marry her. Nonsense! |
lagosrd:You are the one crying more than the bereaved. I Dey my dey Jeje, na you mention me with a post where she said the wife should withdraw the case and let the husband defend himself. Shouldn’t she be happy she will get a chance to prove her allegations in court? I don’t have time for emotional arguments, igbira ko, igbira ni, wetin concern igbira with evidence? You either have evidence or you don’t. Why begging the wife to withdraw the case? Did she think of the wife when she made false accusations? Yeye dey smell!!! The best thing that could have happened is what Mrs Akpabio did! She she is claiming sexual assault, she should take her evidence to court! Stop disturbing me. No tribe has exclusivity of stubborn women! Natasha has jammed stubborn woman! Nonsense! It is eeediots like you enabling nonsense from some women! |
lagosrd:My friend what are you and Natasha afraid of? Why is she begging the wife not to sue? This matter is not hard. The court will determine whether she has locus standi and if her allegations are true. If not she will be humbled. No need for fight! If you have nothing else to say please don’t disturb me! |
Maxymilliano:Natasha will apologize last last |
lagosrd:By accusing the husband, she has damaged the family, the wife and by extension the children. She has locus standi to sue. Why is she worried. If she is sure of herself, she should go to court and prove her allegations. I would have thought she is happy that the matter has gone to court! Abi na false accusation?
|
lagosrd:You cannot slap me and tell me how to react! She should face her lawsuit! |
lagosrd:She has brought the reputation of her family into disrepute. Let Natasha prove her allegations in court! |
Okpellabee:is a suit the national formal attire of Nigeria? Why do we produce so many dull Nigerians? |
Just watch, because of this Natasha nonsense, women will get less opportunities at the top. |
TOPCRUISE:I have said in a different thread that all this will simply result in reduced opportunities for women. Men will simply employ or give opportunities to less women and if they must employ a woman they will employ qualified but ugly women. I do not condone sexual harassment and any man found should be made to pay the stiffest penalty but false accusations are also sexual harassment on men. If the role requires close interactions with me, I will simply give the role to a man…problem solved! If I were a senator I will lobby to not be in the same committee with a woman lest we disagree and she accuses me of sexual harassment. Ultimately it is women that will pay the price. |

OlofofoCorner:In the end he was kicked out, wasn’t he? This is not liberal anything goes Biden. These are conservative republicans. The issue of zelensky not wearing a suit and disrespect has been an issue for the American people even under Biden. |
