Experienced guys need to give more info on this Alibaba thingy. Had exactly the same experience after viewing Alibaba as a better option to Aliexpress price wise. Most threads on Nairaland ckncerning Alibaba is only centred on importation of armbands and hair extensions. There are many more items that people are interested in importing aside these. I hope the knowledgeables amongst nairalanders will come to the rescue here.

The evil in these guys will never let them be objective in their assessment. If new honest marketers are now granted licences as the erring ones are getting fired, the next accusation TANoids will bring up is that GMB is witchunting marketers and granting licence to his own cronies.

i have been buying items for personal use successfully on aliexpress for about 5 months now with few but resolvable hitches. I plan to step it up a notch to now sell items which means bulk purchase. But then I discovered that FOB prices of items are cheaper on alibaba than aliexpress even for the same exact item. In fact, the prices of some item i am eyeing for reselling in Nigeria are way costlier than what guys in nigeria sell such items from and i strongly believe our guys here source these products from china. I am used to aliexpress and very comfortable with their escrow service which is not always available on alibaba. My question therefore is: Can i NEGOTIATE prices of intended items with sellers on aliexpress to the cost price of d particular item on alibaba? Thank you.

I'm with you on that. The usability and security of user data and information, in sharp contrast to android and iOS, is part of what has continually endeared the WP OS to its users.

Why do people wonder how WP OS is not susceptible to viruses? When you tell them that we hardly have any antivirus in the store because as windows phone users, we wouldn't need such, they just get puzzled.

But he can still do it on personal basis sha. It's a matter of personal decision. I get "highs" and "exhilarations" from successful tweakings in the days of Symbian. I just don't get that excited trying it with WP OS. Maybe because of increased wherewithal to purchase apps, I think grin

Unless you have a charged battery, you may not be able to tell if the phone has the fault or not. And it points more to a faulty battery most especially as the phone stopped charging before it refused to switch back on. I will advice you install a new, fully charged battery as the first step in your diagnostics.

For the fact that notifications come in only when you launch the app indicates that it does not run in the background. Certain situations that may cause an app not to run in the background include:
*Your battery saver is "always on" in which case apps that are supposed to run in background run only when you launch 'em or when your device is plugged into a charger. Head to "Settings>Battery saver>Battery saving options" to change your options.

*The application may be disabled from running in the background. The windows phone by default allows only 30 apps to run in the background, so if you already have that quota filled, you might need to disable background running of one of the 30 apps before any other apps can set itself by default to run in background upon installation. Head to "Settings>battery saver >(swipe to) usage" to show applications battery consumption and to change the settings.

The only time I bought any app was when i got my first windows phone over two yrs ago. The details are fuzzy now. The only thing i remembered doing was that i had to change my region to US in order to be able to type in my debit (GTB) card and other details like address (a US address was required and i was able to get one from my friend), zip code and other things. All these will be done on your wallet app in the phone before you purchase from the store. Alternatively, if you've not visited your wallet before, clicking "buy" on the paid app redirects you back to your wallet and will be required to enter your live password. Once logged in, it asks you if you will like to add another payment option to an existing one or create a new one.

Once your payment is made, you will instantly be able to download the app. However notification of deduction from your account may not take place until after 24hrs.

However what I've noticed in recent times with those that have "Nigeria" set as their region is the denomination of the price of paid apps in "Naira" in the store. So i assume that they hassles of finding a US address to use the store might have been addressed. I believe other people with more and recent experiences here with store purchases will be willing to help.

You can save pages in the latest updated version of opera mini. Head to the store to update it. To save pages, simply scroll back to the topmost page you have opened until the address bar shows. The click on the "+" plus sign to highlight drop down options for "save page, add to bookmarks, pin to start" and the select your option.

3G locking is available in WP 8.1 for Lumia 535 dual. but for one sim at a time. that is the other sim will go off. i have posted screen shot several times here

Okay. I guess that's for those device that have stock 8.1 that came with 'em. Other devices before this that got updated to WP8.1 have different 8.1 version number.

Didn't know a flagship Android could give ram problems though.

Before I forget, can you lock network to 3G only on your Lumia?
Older Lumias suffer alot from this issue, so I wonder if it has truly been rectified.

3G locking is currently not available for 8.1. It was removed while transiting from WP8.0 to WP8.1. Hoping it'll be restored with WP10 official release this October.

There you can get to interact with users thru technical fora dealing with the windows phone OS amongst other things. Hmmm. I hope I never enter one chance. I've got three items that were all shipped within days ranging between 3 to 10 days. These shipping notification were sent from the seller and also indicated as "shipped" in my orders. I equally noticed that the tracking numbers end with "NL" and a third one with "CN" that I'm used to. Problem now is, all I keep getting from all available track sites are "No tracking record available"

Guys, what does this imply?

Update: Well I eventually got something for the tracking numbers ending with NL after like 15 days that the seller notified me of shipment.

Using http://track-chinapost.com/startairmail.php , I got "On route, destination Nigeria, no further shipping information from Netherlands"

However no news yet for the one ending with CN.

NB: I have had parcels from china delivered in days ranging from 12 to 16 days all free shipping options. I just have not encountered this recent experience where it's getting beyond one month, hence the worry.

Please can anyone recommend a good e book app? Most of the ones I have only let you read books available in the library but you can't download others. And I mean books from stores like Sidney Sheldon, Sandra Brown and Danielle Steele.

I think it's better you download one of the good ones that's been mentioned in the forum. In most of these, top rated e-books from authors like the ones you mentioned are not available for download for free cos most of them are drm books that you can only download after payment is made - like buying from a bookstore on amazon, kindle, etc. However, they still have non-premium books available for free. These books are not top rated and not top demand.

So like I said earlier what you can do is download one of the available ones in the store and there are various ways you can get your Sidney sheldon and Danielle steel books into the app viz:
*Connect the app to your OneDrive account where you have your library stored and you can then download the books into the app. Same manner applies to other cloud storage facilities like Dropbox, 4shared etc.
*You can just have the documents raw on your device and then open them in the app. You can even get guys who have drm free e-books in abundance to give you from there library. You get from 'em these thru e-mails, Bluetooth or USB cable connection of your phone to their laptops and have such books transferred to your device.

Simple as ABC.

Just wait for a little while longer. Sometimes these shipping companies don't update their tracking system early. The tracking number that starts with" NL" indicates the the item was sent using Netherlands post.
