fijiano202:Egg-zactly. Those HERE map packages are off the hook. |
Oluwadare:Global Positioning System (GPS)? Are you kidding me? Even the age long Nokia C3 java phone has GPS. Lumia 540 has dope GPS my brother. The GPS has good accuracy and also fast cold and hot start up times. And of course you know that with Nokia HERE maps, you can still navigate offlineas ling as you have your downloaded offline maps updated in your device or memory card. It's a cool device. |
UjSizzle:The answers are all on point. But I'll narrate my own experience getting other Lumias (520 & 540). Before you transit, ensure one thing: Back up your files. The options you have is to either back up without app settings or with app settings. Preferably perform back ups in WiFi. WITH APP SETTINGS: This backs up your app settings, game scores (if you don't want to start game from the beginning on your new device) and OneDrive app settings for applications that access your OneDrive account. This backup may take you hours especially on slow network and hey, it may be data hogging. I have had "with app" backup taking as long as one hour and up to 1.2 gig data. I have stopped "with app back up" afterwards. Another reason I have stopped this backup is cos of coming transition to windows 10. WP8.1 screen settings back up may not work perfectly with WP10. I experienced similar problem with transiting from WP8.0 to WP8.1 as regards home screen settings. OTHER SETTINGS: This backup usually takes me less than 15 minutes on average network data speed and is usually under 5mb to 10mb. This handles your text messages, contacts, browser favourites, passwords, home screen settings etc. You may not even need to use "transfer my data" again. That app is most appropriate if you are transiting from a non Lumia or non windows phone to a Windows phone. Here is why:- When I got an extra windows phone, I used the "transfer my data" app (which only worked with contacts anyway) to get all my contacts across. I did not know that soon as I registered the new device with the same hotmail email for my other device, the contacts were already being synchronised. In short I ended up getting all contacts duplicated on the new phone, a pain in the butt to painstakingly delete the duplicates. As I was getting worried about how to "transfer" my SMS to the second device, shockingly but pleasantly, I discovered that ALL my sms present as at the time of back up were already on the new device. More surprising is that all Airtel line SMS from one phone is also on the other phone with GLO line SMS and vice versa, and this sync of SMSes between the two devices happens on daily basis as long as they are in line. That should suffice.

neyosea25:The device is okay. Camera not bad for a low range device. The camera pictures are dope under good ambient lighting, however picture with the dual led is not comparable to L920's image quality. Can support up to 128gig. Currently operate the L540 with 32 gig SD card. Screen larger than my L920, so that's a plus for it. No hardware camera button, which is a thumbs down but of course it's expected in a low budget. No capacitive hardware touch keys. This depends on individual preferences. Some prefer the on screen buttons cos the problem of accidental button press that occurs with the L920 when playing games or watching your favourite you tube movie ain't there. Others do like like the idea of hardware keys cos it doesn't give a premium feel of the device. Speaker sound is okay. Not bad for a mobile phone. Music thru earphones is very okay and there are options for equalizer settings unlike in the L520 where it is absent. There is an FFC which also produces good selfie pictures. Usual good performance with windows 8.1 as it is on other high end Lumias. No screen touch issues that characterise the predecessor L535. By and large, it's an okay phone for 30k, 31k (with free power bank) in some outlets |

FOURTH STATEMENT BY DR BASHIR OLANREWAJU OYEYEMI ON THE THREAT OF ASSASSINATION ON HIM AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE FORENSIC AUDIT COMMITTEE AT THE FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE KATSINA, KATSINA STATE NORTHWESTERN NIGERIA SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2015 Dear Compatriots and well meaning people of the world,   Very good news and not so good news is coming out of Katsina North—western Nigeria in the last few days.   Tomorrow it will be exactly two weeks i.e. fourteen days that I have been in hiding. SOOO SAD IN MIND I am sad that despite the strength of the Nigerian Nation to fight the dreaded Boko Haram to asking for amnesty we have not be able to simply catch the attention of the President and Vice-President to assure me of safety from my hiding place to a safe and secure hospital. What readily comes to my mind is the special plane that took American infected with Ebola back to the US from Liberia . Ebola is not a disease of the American;Corruption is an endemic disease in Nigeria. It is our very own disease. I want the friends and associates of our Mr President Muhammadu Buhari to bring this to his hearing and help put fire to his word on corruption: …….if we don’t kill it, it will kill us”. You should take the necessary actions to ensure that corruption does not kill me. Do not let the agents of corruption exterminate me in isolation when I need help with my health. VERY HIGH IN SPIRIT My spirit is however high as with every passing day evidence is accumulating that is making the face of those who threatened to kill me clearer. THE GOOD NEWS The good news is that CHANGE is sweeping rapidly and it is starting from the home state of Mr President Muhammadu Buhari. The Joint health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and the Nigerian Medical association (NMA) are jointly conducting a forensic audit of the entire personnel budget of the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina for 2015. All healthcare workers are now united in facing a common enemy that has been responsible for discord among professionals i.e. corrupt leadership. The usual divide and rule tactics of the management of Federal Tertiary Healthcare Facilities in Nigeria has finally collapsed. JOHESU has formally issued statements backing the comprehensive forensic audit for all staff of the centre.   JOHESU and NMA at the Federal Medical Centre Katsina have hearkened to the call to action contained in the Goodwill message of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria held in Portharcourt, Nigeria on Sunday September 13, 2015 : “Corruption in our country is so endemic that it constitutes a parallel system. It is the primary reason for poor policy choices, waste and of course bare-faceted theft of public Resources. The fight against corruption was not just a moral battle for virtue and righteousness in the land but it is a fight for the soul and substance of our nation. This is why we must see it as an existential threat, if we don’t kill it, it will kill us”. THE NOT SO GOOD NEWS The bad news is that the management of the Hospital led by the Medical Director (Umar Faruk Abdulmajeed) and the Head of Clinical Services (Bello Muhammad Suleiman) will need to provide satisfactory answers to the following questions or else it may be safely concluded that they are wilful participants in the unlawful diversion of funds and the death threat issued to members of the Forensic audit committee and other!!! UNLAWFUL DIVERSION OF FUNDS: MANAGEMENT HANDS ARE SOILED 1. Why was the management insisting that the forensic audit committee work must stop instead of just simply providing the necessary security cover that we need to conclude our work? 2. Why did it take the management four weeks or more to verify the identity of those receiving the salary of ghost doctors after receiving the account numbers and names of banks into which the funds were paid? 3. Why is it that the only two staffs identified so far as receiving the salary of ghost doctors were the personal assistants of the Head of Clinical Services and Cash officer of the Medical Director? 4. Why does the management prefer the “professional auditors” to do the end of year audit than the current forensic audit committee of laymen consisting of doctors? 5. Why did the Medical Director consider the forensic audit an exercise directed at witchunting him? 6. Why was the management reluctant and it took so long for the management to verify the identities of the staff receiving the ghost worker pay after the names of the bank and the account numbers were provided? 7. Why it is that other members of management including the Director of Administration and Chief accountant are not fully briefed about the preliminary findings of the forensic audit committee? 8. How did it happened that all layers of safeguards against manipulation of payroll including the accounts, audits, administration and medical director were beaten to draw from the payroll unlawfully for the first seven months of this year? 9. Why is it that Saifullah Usman does not respect staff that are senior to him and sometimes ignores the instruction of the medical director? 10. Why is it that the Medical Director is so close to Salisu Abba Imam who does not work in his office? 11. Why is it that the Medical Director chose Salisu Abba Imam to do banking errands for him? 12. Why is it that the staffs of the administrative blocks do not give respect to the instruction of the medical Director? 13. Why did the Medical Director not provide all documents requested by the forensic audit committee? 14. Why was the Medical Director particularly worried that we were asking for bank statements for a forensic audit committee work? 15. Why did the Medical Director provide many of the documents after a long waiting period after request were made by the forensic audit committee? 16. Why did the salary accountant and the Head of Clinical services wilfully absenting themselves from the meetings of the committee? 17. Why did management query Salisu and Saifullah alone when management through the head of clinical services claimed that they had previously informed me that such funds were used to fund overhead expenses that were not forthcoming form Abuja? DEATH THREAT: MANAGEMENT HANDS ARE SOILED 1. Why did the Head of Clinical Services not reveal the threat of assassination he claimed to have received until after I have publicly declared the one I received? 2. Why did the Head of Clinical Services, the medical Director and other members of management not acknowledge receipt or even called to express their sympathy for me after I shared the first and second threat message with them? 3. Why was the Head of Clinical Services attending the MDCAN meetings where resolution on publicising the issues of the threat to life will be taken? 4. Why did the management take no step to provide any security requested until after they succeeded in preventing the joint press conference of the NMA, MDCAN and ARD of September 7/8 2015 to publicise the threat to life received. 5. Why did the management take no steps to provide any security requested until after they succeeded in getting the suspension of the Forensic audit on September 7, 2015. 6. Why the Head of Clinical Services was the only one meeting with MDCAN to present management position since the threat were issued? 7. Why was the Head of Clinical Services now attending MDCAN meeting since the threats were issued? 8. Why did the management not issue a formal response to MDCAN’s letters notifying them of the threat to life? 9. Why did the management not issue a formal notification to the law enforcement agencies that the life of her staff is in danger? 10. How did the Head of Clinical Services get the information that the threat of assassination will not take place if the forensic audit committee work stops? 11. Why did management exclude the allegation of threat to life from the offence of the two staff when they made us believe that the threat originated from those who are receiving the salary of ghost doctors? PUT FIRE IN THE WORD OF THE PRESIDENT I want to bring to your attention the following quotation from the Goodwill message of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria held in Portharcourt, Nigeria on Sunday September 13, 2015  as reported by Business Day Newspaper: “Corruption in our country is so endemic that it constitutes a parallel system. I have a dream that the events following the exposure of the diversion of public funds at the Federal Medical Centre Katsina North western Nigeria and how we handle it shall determine whether Nigeria will kill corruption soon or that corruption will kill Nigeria. I have taken side today, I will fight corruption and we will kill it together. The least I ask of you is to help me pass this information to the widest possible audience: we can together make a change. NEXT STEPS The first step is for the Government of Nigeria at the highest level represented by President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo to take immediate action to contact my agent alaoyeyemi@yahoo.com and provide him with satisfactory evidence that my security is guaranteed from my hiding place to a hospital where my safety will be guaranteed. This next step is for the Government of Nigeria through the Law enforcement agencies to swing into action and take the accused persons into custody immediately. They have a lot of question to answer as you can see above and that will take some time. I thank you sincerely for the kind assistance. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS NIGERIA DR BASHIR OLANREWAJU OYEYEMI, MBBS;FMCPaed. PREPARED SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2015. DR. BASHIR O. OYEYEMI Department of Pediatrics, Federal Medical Centre, PMB 2121, Katsina, Nigeria. |
Dharniel:Oh, you mean the angry SeveredSnake head? |
Mynd44:If that is the case then I see no serious advantage with using the BIS on the Lumia device. You are not likely to exhaust 3gig on a Lumia device within a month (it is significantly less data consuming than an android device) with usual day to day surfing and periodic refresh of your installed apps. You should check you "data sense" app to verify your data usage. You'll likely find out that you don't use up to the 3 gig allocated to you. The only reason to want to use BIS on a non blackberry device will be the advantage of unlimited downloads as you would on a blackberry device. |
mayordadon:You can head back to where you purchased the device. The first screen change on the Lumia 535 is for free as MSFT has acknowledged a factory defect on the screen that came packaged with most batches of the L535. |
Balley:I have 2k5 for 4.5 gig/month glo data on my main Lumia device. Had it shared to two other glo lines one on a second Lumia and another on a portable WiFi router for situations when 3g signal is weak for the Lumias as they have trouble locking onto 3g. |
DankemzI: . Thanks s'much for the sympathy L520 is a "blaady" 512mb ram device but with 8gig of internal memory. Now MSFT has clarified that WP10 limitation is not tied to the RAM but to the internal hard memory. This implies that while all 512 ram devices are expected to do fine on WP10, those devices with 4 gig hard memory irrespective of RAM may experience difficulties. |
dabosuker:I envy you really. I have a main L920 for daily work but I would never use that for trial. I did use it for Windows Lumia and Denim PFD and it worked fine then, but I ain't optimistic on using it for WP10 hence the L520. I guess I had the version 10616 because I chose slow ring. But your mention of a hard reset after every upgrade just gave me an idea. Maybe I should try that on the L520 for a thorough clean out. May just address the crashing issues. |
dabosuker:Pfrrr. Smooth? You're lucky to have a smooth running of WP10 preview on your device. I decided to enrol into the preview for the first time 24hrs ago using a spare L520 that had all along been doing fine on Lumia Demin. I chose the "slow ring". Downloaded a file as large as 950 mb and got it installed. Installation went well but to cut a long story short, every meaningful apps you can think about crashes. Music, OneDrive, facebook, calculator mail, store (can't sign into store or install apps cos it crashes out), CNN, Cortana, games, maps, MSFT edge, camera (green screen and crashes out), heck even some "settings" crash out once I try to launch "em. The only thing usable is the dial pad, even searching for contacts from "people" crash out - can you believe that? Woulda rushed back to Denim but I'm just too tired or fed up to read thru the steps or even go thru the rigours of downgrading. More so the Airtel sim card inside it just got barred for "incomplete registration" this morning (been using this line since Econet wireless days for goodness sake and I had the ISSN transferred to a micro sim for use in the Lumia just a fortnight ago). Windows 10 and Airtel just spoil today for me jare. |
shadowgwalker:It happens in Nigeria my brother. Some doctors may not always be explicit and detailed in their history taking and examination, that does not make such attitude right. But one of the things that is tatooed on the mind of every aspiring medical practitioner as medical students is the issue of patient confidentiality and detailed history taking and proper documentation. Medical students have failed exams and have had to do resits for such oversight - it is a very necessary and tasking training just like the average soldier during recruitment. There may always be one or two caregivers who don't adhere to this but the day they'll require a single sentence of notification in a client's case folder to save their neck is the day they will fell sorry for 'emselves. Heck a note as trivial as "sphygmomanometer not available to check blood pressure" by a prudent caregiver in a government hospital lacking such equipment may go a long way to save him/her from lawsuits that may arise in future. Patient awareness in Nigeria is on the increase with increased internet penetrance and global network and healthcare givers in Nigeria are increasingly learning to be above board to guard against lawsuits from clients. As per the bullet wound you spoke about, it was a legislation by the NPF and even though refusal to give medical care to a patient whose life is threatened by a gunshot wound may be seen as unwise, it is a government rule and even at that, emergency services and resuscitation will be instituted to keep the patient alive until such time when the police report is presented and other definitive treatment modalities will be instituted. Even the police has reversed this order as they themselves have realised it is against the preservation of life. Here is a real life scenario: A who woman has been married to a man was brought to the emergency for delivery by her mother-in-law. After initial evaluation, the woman had given false information regarding her parity and obstetric history (history of possible previous childbirths and associated events). She actually denied ever undergone any prior childbirth. On examination, the doctor found a an abdominal scar consistent with a C-section. She was asked how she cane about that and she lied that she had undergone an appendectomy (a history which she had not volunteered during the history and of course an appendectomy scar is way distinct from a C-section scar). After being made to realise her folly of lying, she later admitted the truth and upon further probing, she had consistently told same lie to her husband who unfortunately is a novice. Of course she pleaded with the caregiver that she wouldn't want such sensitive and seriously damning information divulged to her mother-in-law who was the relative on ground. To this the doctor had to oblige. It is just what is ethical. And even though all that transpired including the discovery by the doctor MUST be noted in the clients case file, it is not expected to go beyond that. |
ben1daEbiri:Funny. She will definitely make heaven. That has not in any any way precluded her faith or destroyed her belief. If you still insist you are right, then I guess all soldiers will never make heaven for the fact that they kill other humans to protect the sovereign integrity of their country. |
shadowgwalker:You are wrong. Proper documentation absolves the doctor from blame. A patient folder/case file in the hospital is a legal document presentable and admissible in a court of competent jurisdiction. That is another reason why he needs to ensure he obtains a written and signed consent from the kady authorising full disclosure of her health status if she so desires and to whatever individual or group she names. If the attending physician takes proper history and examination and have such documented, he is covered as long as the first procedure was not carried out in that hospital. |
HARDDON:Do not play the blame game on the guy. He hadn't in anyway supported her action by paying for the treatment. What if the lady needs blood transfusion and he happens to be the only one at that moment with a compatible blood group? Refusing to donate to save her life on the grounds of what she did will be inhumane and actually makes him the greater devil. Paying for her bills was a chivalrous approach him and believe me, by that singular action he has heaped tons of hot coal on that lady. He took that maturity further by picking her first call post-op and asking to ensure if she was finally okay to have been discharged from the hospital. And even though they may never roll together again (I know I'll never talk to that lady again), she will continue to respect and LOVE that guy for his entire life even while she is with another and even to the point of jeopardizing her own marriage and home cos all she would forever long for is the guy. Believe me, I know how less crimes by ladies to chivalrous guys have turned out. |
yanabasee:Laughably, you are the one that is in error here. This is what is expected to transpire as demanded by ethics of the profession: Ask the lady to herself call or give the contact details of who she wants to come. Of course he would have sought the consent of the patient on revealing her ailment to the guy or to anyone for that matter (asides hospital staff who are already in the know). When the guy comes and insists on knowing the ailment, the doctor simply tells him she had a case of "acute abdomen" (the doctor has not lied) that required a minor surgery/procedure and that she is currently out of it and doing fine. Believe me, that will be enough to put the guy's agitation to rest. Of course if he demands explicit description to know what he is about to pay for, then the doctor may counsel the lady on full disclosure since the guy is the only one available for her at that moment to handle what her treatment incures. Please note that maybe morally, you may question the doctor's approach, but ethically and legally, he is on the right path and that is what makes patients to have the confidentiality of full disclosure to their doctors which always help in management. I bet you wouldn't like your hospital case file to be freely accessible to anyone no matter how minor your ailment is. And note that should the physician disclose her case to the guy without her written consent, she has every right under the law to sue the doctor and hospital for damages. The doctor also risk losing his practicing licence for unprofessional conduct. |
donholy28:Not necessarily. Once the patient is above 18 years of age, even if the enquirer is her own mother or father, the doctor is required to first seek the consent from the patient and only she may give the go ahead to have the info divulged to a third party. Patient confidentiality, even after the patient dies, is paramount to the caregiver. |
oyewolestephen:It is the software chip inside the phones that gets heated up. This is not peculiar to windows phones but occurs in all smartphones. This usually happens when the phone is on 3g or 4g network. Or when you are playing games on the device or doing some other heavy tasks on the phone. The full capacity of the chips get used and then they produce heat that may be much at times ro preclude placing it directly against your ears. I have had two different occasions with my L920 getting so heated up that the phone switched off itself and when it restarted almost immediately, notified me that "the phone switched itself off because it got too hot". I think it's a problem we can't totally avoid in smartphones for now. |
Emu4u2c:Have you tried heading to SETTINGS>CELLULAR+SIM on your device? There you will see the option to select 2G or 3G on your device. |
arazanbal:If you have SLOT outlet or any Nokia office close to you, it will do. And actually Lumia 535 screen replacement is free due to a noted factory defect of Lumia 535 screens dispatched by MSFT. So respect the replacement to be done for free. |
rapthugx:Or you can even remove your SIM card with the subscription and insert it on another windows phone or android phone and switch of the internet sharing on the device. Connect your windows phone to it and update. You don't necessarily need your SIM card to do the update since it is a WiFi only update. Alternatively, if you use globacom data, you only need to find another glo user whose phone has internet sharing capability. Then go ahead and share you subscribed data to his number and connect your phone via WiFi to update. You can always remove "sharing" with the number as soon as you are done. Also note that for the restriction to WiFi to occur, it implies the file for that critical update is likely more than 200mb. Usually those updates in the order of 150mb and below are allowed to be downloaded via cellular data. |
milvet:Really, I don't think "apps" are transferrable between windows phones as it is on android except of course such app is first packaged in "zip" or "rar" file before it's sent. Even then you will need some sort of authentication (meaning you have you have to be online) to get such installed on the receiving windows phone device. I'm very sure videos and audios, as well as book formats are transferrable with ease between windows phones. However if you need some impressive manoeuvrability on your windows phone as regards file managing, then download "aerize file explorer" and set sail. |
milvet:Errr... This is windows phone forum and apps are not transferrable via BT on that platform. |
milvet:The other phone has to have "shareIt" equally installed. You both launch the app on the two phones to exchange files. |
Larule007:It's a maiden release. It should get more perfected with subsequent updates. I also downloaded it but turned out unusable. My pain however was that I deleted "ShareIt" app out of the exhilaration of seeing "xender" app. Now gotta go back to the cornerstone that was earlier rejected. ![]() |
Thespecialone:How about these specs: Windows 8.1 tablet upgradable to Windows 10 9" screen size In built 3g, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 2 gig RAM 16 gig in-built memory with memory card support to 64/128 gig Great screen resolution. Thank you. |
Thespecialone:Do you handle Alibaba items? Please your whatsapp digits. Thank you. |
geesampower:Evening till morning, good. But I presume the storage unit (battery bank) is supposed to work less during daytime cos the panels provide the electricity as well as charge the batteries during daytime with relatively fair sun hours? Please educate me on that "for evening purposes only" clause. Thank youuu. |
eesy:Music, maybe. Softwares, maybe. But people don't really pay to download movies these days. Indeed you are new to the internet, my friend. ![]() |

is that Wifi did not work , can u imagine ?..lol...but then i did a hard reset (which i hated , to do since it wiped out every setting & app), but it fixed the problem, infact i recommend a hard reset after every build upgrade, because it makes the Os more fluid . But its a general issue that in this latest build 10512, mobile hotspot is unavailable or not working , quiet hours also not functioning. those are the only major issues with build 10512. Overall i think Windows mobile 10 is just too good to be true , the experience is mind blowing , its like am using a whole new phone, the OS has greatly been improved, its almost like i have a PC in my pocket
