I think this is the only state, and maybe Abia but not sure, that Labour Party has a majority in the state House of Assembly. They also produced just one state governor. For me, the performance of the LP in the state elections is disappointing. One would have expected them to utilize the momentum they gathered in the federal elections to control more states. But it seems they are fading away. Even the PPN, a new party backed then by Orji Uzor Kalu was able to produce two governors in 2007.

What many Nigerians don't understand is Nigeria has around 20000MW generation capacity with 8100MW transmission capacity and may likely reach 15000-18000MW while Distribution capacity remain 5000MW. So, in this case billions of Naira will be lost daily if we generate what Distribution system can't evacuate, therefore in as much as DisCos won't upgrade their capacity power will always remain a problem in Nigeria. Power is very expensive and small mistake will cost huge billions naira loss.
Those who privatized power to cronies who never had intention to upgrade it should be blamed.

The issue of upgrading and whatnot must have been considered in the MOU between FG and the private coys... I may be wrong.
