Foreign Affairs / Re: Kirov Class Battlecruiser Vs Iowa Class Battleship Who Will Win? by Centrifude(m): 7:55pm On Aug 27, 2015
lionel4power:
i get your point bro but you seems to think that all iowa is armoured, the superstructure is relatively lighter and thats where the kirov's p700 will strike. Damaging all the fancy equipments on the mast and bridge. Though i agree the iowa and kirov are different class of ships. Iowa (battleship) while kirov (battlecruiser)

Nah bruh I think you've got it all mixed up Iowa Class battle Ship is Armoured way better then the Kirov's and if it comes down to a head to head battle the Kirov would lose because of its weak Armour and it would be no match for a direct hit from an Iowa's cannon.

The kirovs are only Armed with Missiles and the Iowa is armed with both Cannons and long range missiles. Iowa ships have superior Armour.

The kirov's are designed to conduct long range strikes using Missile but with the heavy Armour a battle ship has I'm sure they'd be able to take multiple hits from the Kirovs then. They retaliate with extremely heavy Gunfire.

Why is that, is it because South-Africa is always at the receiving end of my comments? cheesy cheesy

I agree with you, the JF-17 is a pretty impressive fighter for it's conservative price, it meets and exceeds all expectations of the Nigerian Airforce. If the JF-17 were western it would cost as much as the Gripen.

All though the SU-30 is class, I do not believe Nigeria needs the SU-30. It is a heavy high maintenance fighter, that very well meets our requirement but I don't believe we can afford it now. Probably in the future, but not now.

The block 3 looks fantastic. Here is another conceptual JF-17, let's call it the Super- JF-17. This upgrade could be a true rival to the Gripen NG.

The JF-17 provides the "bang-for-the-buck"!

I wouldn't worry too much about comparing the JF-17 with the Gripen NG because the Countries that are most likely to buy the JF-17 don't have enemies that use the Gripen. I'm more concerned about how the Jf-17 would perform against something a Su-30mk, Rafale, Mirage 2000, Mig29, F-22, F-35 etc...

With a GDP as large as yours I don't think money is the problem is Nigeria. It's how it's managed and distributed (like most African Countries).

The problem I have is that Buying the Jf-17 will be a temporal solution that will end up being a permanent solution once the war is over. I think its just better to go all out right now and just buy what Nigeria needs and wants, Which is the Su-30 for the Migs.

Talk about balls of steel. Someone give Lt Phiri a Bell's!
http://www.africandefence.net/sandf-unamid-troops-in-rebel-standoff/

Three days ago the SANDF’s UNAMID contingent in Darfur were involved in a high-risk exchange with a number of unknown rebels in Mellit. The details below were provided by the SANDF and make for some gripping reading. Considering previous instances where rebels have opened fire on SANDF patrols, the commander’s refusal to surrender his group’s weapons showed a remarkable level of discipline.

On 18 August 2015 a team of 37 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members were escorting an United Nations team on a long range patrol to north of the South African Company Operating Base (COB), Mellit in the Darfur Region of Sudan. The patrol was made up of four Mamba Armed Personnel Carriers (APCs), one Recovery Vehicle and two Land Cruisers. The patrol was to a small village, called Selibilo, 51km north of the base. The team was led by Lieutenant (Lt) Phiri, a Platoon Commander from 8 South African Infantry Battalion.

On the way back to the COB the team was ambushed by an unknown Armed Group (AG) and a stand-off ensued between the Peacekeepers and the armed militia. The protection element of the patrol had passed the ambush point when the second group was stopped by three heavily armed soldiers of the militia. SANDF members observed that the some of the AG were armed with an anti-tank weapon (mounted on land cruiser) and 12,7mm machine guns. To the west of the point where the convoy was intercepted, other members of the AG were deployed on a small hillside.

They ordered the section commander to leave the vehicle while pointing weapons at him. At this point, two members of the AG climbed atop one of the APCs – one pointing a weapon at the SANDF light machine gun (LMG) gunner whilst a second armed man removed him from the APC. They reiterated their demand to see the platoon commander and when he arrived they ordered him to surrender and turn over all of his troops’ weapons, or else they indicated that they would kill everyone in the convoy. The platoon commander, Lt Phiri refused.
[the armed group] ordered him to surrender and turn over all of his troops’ weapons, or else they indicated that they would kill everyone in the convoy. The platoon commander, Lt Phiri refused.

After two hours of negotiations to return the 7.62mm LMG, the AG told Lt Phiri that his members were currently surrounded by eight vehicles from a southerly direction and six others from the north. Lt Phiri continued to refuse to hand over any of his group’s equipment, which would have included two UN peacekeeping vehicles. A stalemate was reached and the AG informed Lt Phiri that he left them no choice, at which point they assumed firing positions. Lt Phiri deployed his troops on the ground in a battle formation and informed his troops that they would move out of the area with all vehicles, walking alongside them irrespective of the obstruction of the AG.
Lt Phiri and his troops began moving forward, with his troops and the AG directing weapons at each other continuously. As the patrol started moving out of the confrontation on foot, one of the AG members punctured the rear tyre of one of the UN Land Cruisers with a sharp object. An SANDF member observed this and pushed the individual away from the vehicle, whilst being threatened by automatic weapons from the remaining AG members. Lt Phiri instructed the recovery vehicle to come forward and tow the UN vehicle forward along with the rest of the vehicles. As the SANDF APCs moved forward with the peacekeepers alongside, the belligerents ultimately declined to open fire. The peacekeepers managed to move safely out of the danger area and proceed back to the base after returning to their vehicles one kilometer on from the point of interception.

The SANDF has confirmed that the troops who stood their ground during the ambush will be cited for bravery.

Lt Phiri has some Brass Balls. You don't mess with a man like that.

Politics / Re: Prostitution in Rome by Centrifude(m): 6:40pm On Aug 13, 2015
The only way for such things to exist means that there has to be a demand for them.

The increase in prostitution means that Catholics themselves are using prostitutes, and there is a high demand for them within Rome.

This is not surprising because we all know how Catholics and their leaders are well known for taking part in extremely immoral behaviour.

If am a president of country and a very experienced General who has about 15+ years of being a special forces operative tell me that in his experience he believes that his forces would perform better with tricycles or Golf Carts why would I argue with that?

A single Dshk Round into that vehicle......... And it's "bye bye black bird"!

Those vehicles(Special forces Vehicles) do not provide any real advantage to the Soldier, especially the average soldier from a developing country. I do not have an idea how much the South-African vehicle costs, but the Panhard SPV, Supacat Jackal SPV, Dutch AATV costs up-wards of €800,000 a unit.

€800,000 for a vehicle that seats only 3-4 men, has virtually no protection, and is armed with only a 50 Cal. Man gun and a secondary GPMG is a waste of money. The sort of comms equipment they carry isn't enough reason to cost that high, neither is there AAT capability.

The only reason i like these vehicles (SPVs) is because of aesthetics, they make the SOF/SF look cool, asides this no actual practical use for them.

First world armies usually have dedicated attack and utility helicopters attached to their SF units, hence firepower isn't much of an issue.

I think the reason you don't understand the need for such vehicles and equipment is because like many of us you're not an S.F operative and you've never been in any of the situations those people find themselves in during their operations.

Stop press!!! Due to their extensive Special Forces experience, Henry and a few others have come up with a new doctrine that nullifies the need for a Rapid Deployment Reconnaissance Vehicle for Special Forces! Everyone has been wasting time! SF forces all over the world should ditch RDR Vehicles and ONLY use MRAPS for ALL their missions!
For they are now conventional infantry! Stirling and everyone else were wrong!

In this case not in service only means not available to every infanteer. Infantrymen showing promise can play with the CR-21, and upon earning the badge "Marksman" in a section can play with everything from pistol to anti-personnel rifle.

So yes, some units within the SANDF use whatever weapons they deem fit.

This finally answers my question about why the guy in this pic has this Rifle.

Very true some thing like that is very hard to defend against, that's why I believe that heavily armoured Personnel Carriers and IFVs are needed against insurgents.

Use the turret to take out the Technicals and those AA Guns or they can be used to provide sufficient cover for ground soldiers while they take out enemy troops.

I already said I don't know for sure, there is no need for rude language.

I cannot tell from which countries they are as currently there are many military cadets from many African countries in Turkey: Gambiya, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mali, Nigeria, Algeria, Gana, Ethiyopia, Chad, Zimbabwe, Morroco and Somali are the main countries having cadets in Turkey. The guys from the pictures IMO are not the same persons, although there are indeed also many Somalians in Turkey getting scolarships and admitted to military academies.

For the last 7-8 years Turkey placed a special attention to Africa, opening many embassies making diplomatic relations and the Turkish airlines has probably become the major airline that is flying to most of the African countries now.

I apologise for being Rude, but I'm sure the link posted will now clear things out because those people are identified as Somali Cadets, many of those pages are about the Somali Military so I doubt that they are wrong about those being Somali Airforce cadets.

And to answer on the discussion whether these are Nigerian students I cannot really confirm but I know that Nigerian military students are trained in Turkey and the uniforms they are wearing are Turkish cadet uniforms. So it is impossibile to tell from uniform whether they are Nigerian of Somali, but they do not look like Ethiopians and Somalians to me (again I am not sure)

Those are definitely Somali Cadets. There's a source to prove it, it has multiple pictures of Somalis wearing that Uniform.

Now I realise that what Patches has been saying about you is true, you just claim sh*t and you expect people to believe you.

That's not a Vertical takeoff because the plane was already in the air, when it moved vertically.
