I rarely agree or support many of Henry120s comments but I have to say that this time I completely agree with him, you can't judge the Jf-17 but just reading speculations made by people.

The Jf-17 is a really good jet, and even though you may not want it for Nigeria, but the fact is if it is chose it will meet all of the current NAF needs, and it was a capability that is sorely needed by NAF right now which is delivering PGM day and night and providing extremely accurate close air support for troops on the ground.

Right now Nigeria needs something like the jf-17 they'll worry about Su-30s or something similar at a later time.

m0ron. You are the one that needs reality check, Nigeria has surpassed south africa in almost everything. We are the largest economy in africa and is assumed to be the superpower of the continent. That status comes with a substantial political and diplomatic strength naturally. The last G7 summit Nigeria was the only african country invited, when egypt was battling isis Nigeria was the only country she asked for assistance from. So mr. Man you need to wake up from your dream. Nobody respect south africa again. Ordinary sudan president walked free from your country even though jacob zuma ordered his arrest. Thats a slap on all your faces.

Jacob Zuma didn't order his arrest a court did you dumb @ss.

Zuma does not control the courts in S.A

And G7 always have new guests South Africa has also been invited to G7.

But anyway dude believe whatever makes you sleep at night.

A While Back Nigerians were patting themselves on the back when those reports attacked Mugabe asking him when he was going to step down and when would the suffering in Zimbabwe stop.

But when South Africans detains a War Criminal and Mass Murderer a A MAN WHO KILLED THOUSANDS OF AFRICANS and now Nigerians are condemning S.A for detaining him.

Let's face the facts, the only problem here is that he is being detained by South Africans you guys hate the fact that its S.A and if it had been Nigeria or some other country you all would've applauded the move.

Link ZA

It is now mandatory for all SANDF communications equipment to be Link ZA compliant.

Link ZA, which cost "tens of millions of rand" to develop, is owned by the SA National Defence Force.

For the artillery, it has brought down the time from when an observer spots a target to when the first round is fired at it from six to 10 minutes to just 90 seconds. "You can just about hit a moving truck," says Hanley.

I think what Henry120 meant was that, people in the west generally have this impression that Aficans have no cities, and if they have, its nothing but a bunch of mud houses with lions roaming around the streets and its survival for the fittest for every animal (including humans). And videos like these sort of confirms what they had been thinking all along. Which is not true at all, did you see how so many western guys were so suprised when Nairobi was featured on snapchat? they were expecting to see poverty and disease, all they saw was clean streets and sky-scrappers and people having fun.

Read about this christian lady who was disappointed to find Nairobi wasn't the dirty, poor planed ,hunger stricken city she was hoping it would be, just like she saw on the media and on aid commercials http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2015/02/04/christian-missionary-disappointed-that-africa-isnt-the-hellhole-she-was-hoping-for/

Now if this is the perception than ignorant people in the west have on Africa, what do you think happens when they see videos like the ones of Masai people daring to confront loins? unless they have been here, they will think thats how it is in the whole country.

Its a cool video though, that Maasai warrior spirit is like nothing else, it has even been proven that lions in game reserves around Maasai communities have developed a genetic trait to fear a masaai warior wearing that red cloth from the moment the lion is born. https://www.gci.org/CO/words/0706

This reminds me of the crazy American woman who was mauled to death by a lion in Johannesburg.

She was probably miss led by videos like this, thinking that she could also pat a wild kitty.

B4 u start to insult ur uncle, Ask any South African.

Do you know why lights are going down like Nigeria?

Don't forget that the news mostly tell half the story of what's happening.

I've seen what those International news say and write about the Power Cuts. All you see is

"Rolling power Cuts continue to anger South Africans."
but they some how forget to mention that those power cuts are due to a nation wide maintenance of our Electrical Infrastructure which will benefit every South African in the Future.

We deal with such Racist A**holes all the time here in S.A the same dumb people who don't even realise that when black people came into power the Apartheid Government was throat deep in debt they've easily forgotten that the S.A people they hate so much had to first pay off all of their international debts and clean up their mess.

The one thing people don't realise is that the Current S.A is a lot more modern and prosperous than it ever was during the Apartheid Era.

They f*cked up the country.

To those who think our infrastructure is going down, then can you please explain why south Africa is no longer considered as a 3rd world country but a newly industrialised Country.

Even though we mate hate it, but Most South Africans know that the reason behind the Loadshedding *Power cuts* is due to the fact that our Government has decided to upgrade and carry out much needed maintenance on all of our Electrical infrastructure it is small sacrifice to make, which will benefit all of us in the long run.

Not forgetting that we are Building new Power stations, and maintaining what already exists we are trying to avoid being in the same situation many African Countries are in right now where their Electricity Distribution network hasn't been maintained since it was created.

I remember watching 'Global Fire Power' and the kirov Class was rated 3rd while the Iowa Class was rated no:1 which I completely support.

When it comes to fire power the Iowa Class beats the Kirov Class, don't forget that the Iowa Class Battleships were modified and recommissioned after Russia brought out the Kirov.

The Iowa Class are like an old a** battle harden man who's body has been modified and equipped to fight modern wars.

The Kirov Class is Amazing but the Iowa Class has it beaten.

If the Kirov gets withing range of those Iowa Cannons we all know it won't survive a hit from that thing, and if its too far away the Americans Send the TomaHawk Missile which is basically an Evil long Range Missile that can destroy just about anything you ask it to.

Should SANDF be utilised as crime busters? The assignment which they are not tasked to perform.

http://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2015-05-20-domestic-threat-should-the-sandf-be-deployed-as-crime-fighters/#.VV7y5DPRY8o

Yes they should, Civilian have a greater fear of Soldiers than they do of the Police.
Civilians and criminals don't Police Officers, while Soldiers are seen as the no nonsense or mercy kind of force.

Remember what happened in Cape Town *GangLand* when Soldiers were deployed there and crime rate decreased by more than 70% in less than two weeks.

It shouldn't be a permanent thing, but a show of force to criminals.

We really didnt want other African countries to do the same, afterall,we also have investments in SA and other SADC countries,if all African countries neglect SA,it would affect our investments and citizens in not only SA but also SADC region.

SAAF had more important projects to channel funds to.

Like:

1. New indigenous fighter jet(Carver project)
2. Upgrading to Mirages and Cheetahs.
3. New missiles. The Kukri was obsolete!

MIGs and Sukhois were the threat to the air force carrying out its ops in Angola not tank or ground targets. Zimbabwe was also interest in getting the MIG-29.

SAAF was still able to penetrate Angola air defences even with the best Cuban air defence units meant to protect Havana around.

The current Mk 1 has SA made optics!

I'm not talking about the Apartheid Government, I'm talking about the post 1994 Government, they spoke very Highly of the Rooivalk but didn't invest enough money for it to meet the standards they spoke about, though I do acknowledge the fact that there were much more important issues to deal with during that time.

But I still believe that our Government could've done more for the Rooivalk, they set very high standards for it and didn't give it enough resources or explore to meet all of those standard.

Though I have to admit that the current Rooivalk is an amazing Beast, considering the tiny Budget Denel had to work with.

I'd suggest the SAn's go to the Chinese for an Engine clone/replacement of what they currently use. The sight of it just tells me that we (Africans) can't get our act together. No way will the Chinese have that bird and it won't be mass produced and sold.

Politics Ruined the Rooivalk Program, and the lack of investment and interest from high up the chain of Command.

American products attract interest because they invest a lot of money and effort into them.

The Rooivalk would have been like the Casspir APC if it had been given more attention.

We all know that the current Rooivalk is only a shadow of what was Originally plan.

Obama must act now or never. Baghdad is the capital of Iraq. As it stands now, ISIS fighters are 60 miles away from Baghdad, and reports have it that they might wage a full foe war soon.

After slaughtering 500 people in the city of Ramadi, ISIS could use its proximity to Baghdad to wage 'all-out war' with the Shi'ite fighters in the Iraqi capital, experts have told MailOnline.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••
ISIS has effectively surrounded Baghdad by taking control of Fallujah which is on its 'doorstep' and is currently battling security forces in cities such as Samarra (left) to Baghdad's north. The crushing defeat in Ramadi sent Iraqi forces fleeing despite the support of US-led airstrikes targeting the extremists.

Looking at the convoy on the first and second pictures it just makes me wonder which Targets the Coalition has attacking, because you can't seriously tell me that large Convoy like that could not be seen by those Sophisticated Western jets in broad daylight even. That convoy shouldve been a feast for all of those jets, I'm starting to think that they're being aloud to capture all of that territory.

Africa's largest military ship. Algeria's LPD (amphibious transport dock)

Flagship of the Algerian Navy, kalaat Béni Abbès LPD

The vessel was ordered in 2011 and she's based on an updated and larger San Giorgio LPD, it displaces 8,800 tons at full load, she's 149.2 m long and 21.5 m in beam, the vessel's stern dock can carry three 19.5m LCM

When not loaded with armoured vehicles the hangar can be used to house up to 5 helicopters.

Algeria is really going big, If they had a strong local defense industry like the one S.A has Algeria would be a very formidable Force probably more powerful than Egypt.

With a defence industry like the one S.A has Algeria would definitely invest ten times more than what we do. They would be unstoppable.
