Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by cerezo: 11:00am On May 19, 2019
After keeping money for 28 days and finally applying for tier 4, does the money still need to stay in your account while your application is being considered?
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by cerezo: 10:14am On May 19, 2019
I'll advise you go with pounds from Ngr, you 'll most likely lose money when you change dollar to poundsin the UK. As per how much, your circumstances will determine how much you need for the trip.

Viqtour:
Pls for someone going to UK for private medical trip with his wife, like how much cash can the person carry and can it be in dollar? I plan to get like 600usd for them.

I'm going to try and respond to each of your concerns because i did something close in 2016 and it was granted.
1. Just say you dont have that information or one option close to that.
2. Do a budget for the trip. For example, she will need about 47k for visa, 250k for flight, and at least £200 for upkeep while with you. Do the maths
3. Try and sponsor her fully. She can attach her statement of account just to show prove of address and income as stated in the application form.
4. Attach both accounts and dont forget to menetion that you often send her money from your naira account. If possible, try and show how you fund that naira account.
5. Reduce her stay to between 10-14 days. Remember it's her first time, the longer she stays the more funds you have to show to accomodate her.

Lastly, please attach a document to show she's your mum, like birth certicate.

Please note that these are my own personal experience, others can share theirs.

Marytee2:
Good evening house,
Please, I’m trying to fill a standard visit visa for my mum. I’ve read through this thread but just need some clarifications:
1. Both of my grandparents are late, so does it mean I must still include their names under her parents.
2. I want to sponsor her. Is 850 pounds okay for the whole trip since she will stay with me (accomodation and feeding)?
3. Must she co-sponsor this trip or I can singlehandedly sponsor her. Note- She can sponsor herself from the account balance she has, but since she is retired and most of her savings come from me and my siblings, I was thinking it was better to stand as a sponsor.
4. Must I submit both my Uk and naija bank account. Reason is that, I usually send her monthly upkeep to her from my naija account.
5. What is the maximum amount of days/weeks she can use? This is her first visa application, so I was thinking of 3 weeks. Is it too much?
Thanks for your response(s)

Just try to address whatever reason that got you refusal the last time. It's always easier to use hotel reservation for UK visa especially first time visitors.

Seeyat:
Hello Oga @Justwise please, i want you to clarify this to me. I was refused 2years ago and I'm about to re-apply. The last time i used a hotel reservation and stated that i didn't know anyone there. Now my aunt in UK wants to invite me over and i also have our saved chat history.

Won't it complicate my visa application? Please advise me.

Is anyone experiencing any challenge with uploading document under self-service? I uploaded a document since Saturday, it's showing "Processing this upload" up till now. Is this an attempt to make people come pay for scanning in their center? My appointment is fast approaching, yet I've not been able to upload a single document.

Good folks, I have selected self service appointment (mind you, there are couple of free appointments currently in Ikeja starting from 21st May), can someone point me to any post where someone must have explained what should be uploaded against the following tls document types (attached) on their website. For instance, what documents should be attached against Residency, family evidence, sponsor evidence etc. I appreciate any help from you good people on this.

Good morning folks, i did dropbox 5th Mar, status remained application received till this morning. Has anyone been through this recently?
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by cerezo: 8:57am On Jan 03, 2019
My dear, there's nothing wrong with a friend wanting to invite you over, but planning to change the visit visa to something else makes everyone think otherwise. If you really wanna visit the US, work on your strong ties back home. Once you start thinking of abusing your visa, then you may never get it. You should ask yourself the following questions:
- Are you a genuine visitor?
- Do u have more than enough to fund your trip?
- Have you visited other countries and returned back to your home country?
- Do you have enough proof you'll return home after this trip?

As much as I encourage folks to travel out and get exposed, it's a total NO if your intention is to abuse the purpose of your visa. It increases your BP and does affect the chances of genuine visitors back home. So, I'll advise you carry out a self appraisal.

Mightyify:
hello everyone I have friend who is a citizen of US, he wants me to come over, whats the best way to go about this? he said he will send invitation and i intend to stay there. can something be worked after getting there with visit visa? i have not travelled before....whats the best route to go about this please, he seriously wants me to come but i dont want us to make a mistake
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by cerezo: 4:33pm On Dec 29, 2018
There's no correlation whatsoever. I am yet to understand what is wrong in working for my Dad and having him increase my salary so I can shoulder more responsibilities at home. At the same time, helping build my financial standing. Let's not make this place look like where visa decisions are made. The final decision is with the VO. Many of us secure these visas not by our perfect making, but we come here to condemn efforts made by others. IMO it seems we just don't want others to have same privilege. I am very open to correction here, I want to learn how this is synonymous to working with visit visa.

AfonjaBoston:
Indirectly this is also fraud and cheating the system. Same level if not worse than a tourist who works on a visit visa
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by cerezo: 3:18pm On Dec 29, 2018
I'll advise you plead with your Dad to increase your salary even if u have to return the excess one way or the other. A good way is to shoulder the family/domestic expenses that Dad normally funds. In a way, he has only transferred the responsibilities to you which I believe will bolster your application tremendously. Also, you don't have to mention you are working for your Dad. Get one of his staff to do you an intro letter stating your annual emolument and your role in the company. Please jettison the idea of Dad sponsoring you (you are a graduate and what you are simply telling VO is that Dad is sponsoring your exit from Ngr). If Dad really likes you that much, he would show it in your monthly take-home. Lastly, do not appear for visa interview until about 6 months after your new salary. This way, you can equip yourself with at least 6 months statement of account showing this nice salary. There are other things to consider tho, should be a short vacation on a low budget, book an hotel and draw up a good plan for your vacation without your Aunt in the picture. If u do all these and you don't get the visa, it's just gonna be one flimsy excuse, not that you couldn't prove strong ties back home.

Annie26:
Good morning family
I have only been to the UK and Ghana. I studied in UK and last traveled 2016. Throughout 2017, I was in lawschool. 2018- NYSC/ and part time working with my Dad's company. 26, female and single.

Currently I still work for my Dad's company full time. But d pay is 50k.
I would like to visit my aunt in d US with my dad as my sponsor because I haven't started earning a lot and can't sponsor my self.
Secondly, my dad does not mind being my sponsor but I am still worried.

Having same company as Employer and Sponsor might pose a challenge especially when we share same surname.

Plse I need advice.

Secondly, plse what is the available date now in Abuja?
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by cerezo: 6:45pm On Sep 29, 2018
Make sure you have enough to cover at least one night stay in the hotel you plan to book. Usually, some hotels carry out pre-authorization on your card. By this, they try to hold an amount equivalent to one night or all of your planned stay just to ensure your card is valid. Often times when you don't have up to that amount in your card, it will lead to invalid debit/credit card. I used GT recently and I still have about 39GBP on hold by the hotel. I'll advice you try again and ensure you have an amount covering at least one night stay in that card account. I noticed this is new with some UK hotels.

Great People,

I need someone to help with the question below.

Has anyone subscribed to the "Keep my passport When Applying" option on tls website from Nigeria. I want to submit my application tomorrow and need to travel to another country mid October. I just want to be cautious in this period where uk visa application can last 2 months. Though i wish i can have my visa before my trip in October but if visa wont come on time then i don't want to forfeit my other trip too.

Thanks Cerezo for your response. please clarify me further,if appointment is booked on visa4uk site,.why does TLScontact display that yoy have to book appointment with them after completing your form and making online payment. i also came across the same message on visa4uk site. Then again how do I connect my application on.visa4uk site and TLS contact? I am quite confused about the whole appointment booking process and the appropriate platform to do it. please can someone take the pains to explain?
This image shows the order in which you must follow on the visa4uk site. Once payment is successful, you can then click on the Register at commercial partner which then takes you to the tls site for registration. On tls, you will be asked for the GWF number of your application on visa4uk, your passport no and some other details after which you will validate and submit the form.

You can only book appointment on the visa4uk site. The sad part is that you cannot view appointment date until you complete and sign your application. You will see appointment dates before making payment, only that you would have signed your application before appointment. In other words, you cant make changes to your application anymore at the appointment stage. But anyone who has passed that stage can advise you on the earliest dates available. I just checked and noticed 28th Sept is available. I checked last night, the earliest was 2nd Oct.

kokoli:
Good day folks, please I would want to know if visa appointment can be booked on both on the UK visa?application site and TLS portal. please which is the better option of the two? 2. can I see the available appointment dates before I make payment? Thanks for you usual responses

Did you opt for priority service?

Fyorgyn:
Biometrics 30th August... TLS Abuja

Pick up mail 19th September

Visa issued

I applied with my spouse... 2 years Visa

Got valuable info from Nairaland as always.

Thanks
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by cerezo: 8:51am On Sep 15, 2018
Did you pay for priority or its just a regular application.

K4daniel:
I am still surprise of how they did my application before 14days instead of 15days standard time, because I did biometric on 28th of August and yesterday 14th I was sent an email to come pick up it up.Although I filed the time of travelling for 14th Sept. Could that be the reason for rushing my application or they just rush it and assumed I didn't get it.I am really worried because I tried my best this time to give d best doc and promotion at work with good salary and travelling experience, answered all reason I was rejected.Plus the fact that my brother in UK was not contacted before.I just wish it ends in praise when I pick up.. or else I go vex..lol

Has anyone done dropbox recently, how long did it take to get your passport back with visa

Did you do priority or just regular application.
Jarus:
Finally got email that I should come pick my passport.

I did bio 15 August, so that's 18 working days (I counted 2 days ileya holidays because it's a Nigerian, not UK holiday).

The longest time ever, but not bad.

My Good People, pls help review my circumstance. I wanna apply for 6 months, i have a sister who's a british citizen. Under the section where they ask if u have a friend or family in the uk, if i say yes and select that she's my sister and British citizen, what documents do i need to attach to support this. Mind you, i dont plan to stay with her because i normally book hotel accommodation. This will be my third uk visa if successful. I have been to uk twice and US once.
