Hello Folks, Please which bank is at the moment responding promptly to tuition payment request via Form A. An idea of their GBP rate will also be helpful. Thanks |
My advice, don't bring dollars to UK. The rates are never favourable. Sell your dollars and buy pounds before leaving Nigeria. If you doubt, check the rates those exchanges are offering and do the math yourself. You may lose up to $60 (N27k) on every $1,000 you change to £ here in the UK Skymoore1004: |
Check right away, I can see first week in september being open in Ikeja (self service) bimbos2007: |
solarinde:Yea...oanda just got rid of the ex-abokifx guy who started with them recently. |
duchess90:To be quite honest, I really don't know which date they focus on. What I can tell you is that oanda also gives an overview of the last 30 days in the "Recent Trends" section. They can easily see the peak exchange rate within the period of your application and use that. So as we speak, July 25th rate has been the peak in the last 30 days and the upward trend may linger. Some more experienced folks can also share their opinions. |
duchess90:Folks, please pay attention to this: https://www1.oanda.com/currency/converter/ it could cost you your application fee and the time investment. It's been on the rise since July 20th. Your focus should be on buying GBP and "Ask" section. If it's getting too close, add some thousands to top up. |
Oloshi83:Thanks everyone for the prompt response. I once used the online statement for uk visit visa too and it came out successful. Hopefully, it shouldn't be any different for tier-4. |
Hello folks, Has anyone used the signed and stamped statement of account from GT Internet Banking for tier 4 visa application. Currently in the uk and plan to switch to tier 4 from within before July 31st. |
Chuukwudi:As at today, there's no single body regulating AI in the UK. However, efforts to establish clear regulation for AI are underway. Here's an interesting article to back my findings: https://gowlingwlg.com/en/insights-resources/articles/2019/regulation-of-ai-and-big-data/ If you have other follow up questions, please don't hesitate to put it out here. My guess is you are trying to pursue a program and perhaps you want to know a few things before diving in. |
Definitely, there are charges when you withdraw cash on such cards. However, when you pay online, you don't incur any fees. LagosismyHome: |
Maybe he/she can get pounds into a dom account and also request for a master/visa card attached to the dom account. With this card, having no limit, tuition payment should be a breeze. These are my thoughts. STENON: |
cerezo:Can someone honor me with a response. His vignette visa is about to expire. We have been on the passport renewal for a week now. NIMC NIN isnt dropping at immigration end. |
Submitted a family application on 26th in Abuja. Passports have been coming in in piecemeal since 20th. Up till now, one passport still with them as I write. Nneamaka88: |
I need someone to help respond to this. My son's passport has less than 6 months validity. He has his tier 4 dependent child visa approved few days after the passport was less than six months validity. Can he travel to the UK with that passport or he needs to renew before he can be allowed in? |
When exactly did you do your Biometric and is it standard application? Stephforme: |
Use the school address, more like you'll be staying in the school-owned accomodation. Qlip: |
I want to appeal to us to lessen the attacks and threats. I dont get to read comments like this on other forums. Let us argue constructively and provide proofs where possible. For those that have power to withdraw other people privileges, lets not scare people away from voicing their mind. We all learn by speaking out. I have taken my time to read the whole question and solutions proferred from the moment it came up. I am yet to see anything wrong with the op going ahead to submit his application as long as the statement is not older than 31 days and the balance didnt drop below the mark for the 28 days. I have read the whole tier 4 guidelines, i am yet to see where it is written that the money must be in your account after the 28 days. I stand to be corrected and many folks who have gotten their visas here can testify to this. You may argue that it was stated that the money must be available to you for your study whilst in the uk. But i havent met many people who keep money in savings or current account forever. To fulfil the 28 days requirement, people liquidate interest yielding mutual funds, treasury bills, fixed deposits etc. Once you fulfil the 28 days, i believe there's nothing wrong in moving your funds back to these security instruments even while your application is being considered. Just so that you know, the banks are not obliged to disclose any account balance to any visa office other than to confirm authenticity of the bank statement presented. This is the reason why visa officers look at trend and not closing balance which often time could have changed before the application is been considered. For tier4 visa, the 28-day rule is simply 28 days of maintaining a certain balance nothing more. The ukvi knows many folks do all sort to raise this fund including borrowing, but they have also deviced means to combat that by demanding the sponsor i.e the school report every irregularity if any is observed to the home office immediately after you resume in school. Please lets educate ourselves by being open and factual, and not by intimidation for no man knows it all. LaaJiblik: |
I did my Biometrics in Abuja on Monday 26th, being a Bank holiday in the UK I was told there wont be any interview. Is this the case with anyone here? Also, I am yet to see any mail that my application has been received at Sheffield. Any cause to worry? |
On two occasions I have used the signed pdf stmt from GT Bank internet banking and the applications came out successfully. One for me, the other for my parents. I just felt since one will have to scan and upload everything, why bother? Fear not.... QueenieDar: |
You stand a good chance if all you have said about your travel history and job are true. I'll just add that you book hotel stay and you don't need any invitation whatsoever. You don't have to know anyone in the US to go there on vacation. Individual85: |

I'm happy for you and confident you can now guide others. I did 2yrs visa for my parents in May and twas successful too. By just following what I shared with you, there shouldn't be any problem. I'll tell my parents to watch out for you and your mum in the uk ![]() Marytee2: |
There's absolutely nothing wrong in attaching a fixed deposit in your application. Infact, I always do this with my mutual fund account. And the idea of people thinking you must have alot in your salary account is not ideal. Nobody does that and visa folks are quite aware of this. One glaring mistake is you claiming to have £6000 plus for this trip when in actual sense what you have is your N1.3m. There might be other issues like the build-up of the N1.3m which is very very key. Now, this is what I do very often. I don't keep any fund in my bank account. But anytime i have to apply for visa, i do a part liquidation of my mutual funds to show enough funds for the trip. I also ensure i get a letter from the firm stating that the funds are readily available whenever i need it within 24hrs. Stanbic Asset will give you such letter plus the stmt of account. Lastly, I'll attach a letter of explanation detailing the rationale behind these actions. I have NEVER kept an amount double the figures i intend to spend on a particular trip in my salary account. You really need to check how you raised these funds. They like seeing regular monthly income and they know Nigerians invest in money market instruments alot. Nothing totally wrong in your fixed deposit, your application probably was not well put together. You definitely need to learn more from the gurus here. Hacuttie: |
Sorry about this. Your financial figures look pretty strong, but a lot goes into some of these visa applications which I believe following this thread would help you address. Chill and learn from the gurus. Please feel free to ask questions where you are not clear. Truth is I did put in an application for my parents sometime in May, with about the same figures, and it scaled through. So, it's really not about the figures but how they are put together that matters. Hacuttie: |
I need info from experienced folks. Is it possible to convert Tier 4 Dependent into Tier 4 General without leaving the UK. By this, I mean after a spouse must have stayed in UK as a dependent, and then try to enroll in school after the other spouse must have rounded off in school. I appreciate your responses. |
This got me rejection in 2014. The refusal was based on the fact that the FD is not readily available for the intended trip. I'll advise you retain some substantial money in your account for your trip beside the fixed deposit. In other words, do not keep all the money in FD. Say for instance, some 500k in FD, also keep at least enough money to fund your trip in your savings/current account. Another point to note, make sure there's a trace of the money for the FD in your account. Osama10: |
Good people, I wrote ielts Jun 24, 2017 and requested for remark which came back with a section upgraded in Sept 28, 2017. I want to know when will such result reach it's 2-year validity? |
You can only do that by booking the same appointment time for submission. Though, this is pretty difficult if you are looking for free slots but somewhat achievable else you can opt for the paid flexible appointment. Someone once mentioned how she went about this on this thread. But for me, i booked same day, different time slots say 12:30 and1:30 for them. When they showed up for biometric, they told them at the gate that it's a family application and they were allowed in together. They are both above 65 though, dont know if that played any part in the whole show. TIGER1001: |
Go for remark...those folks are just taking Nigerians for granted. Skillfo: |
For now, the tls are having issues with the upload page. As a workaround, they have published that anyone who cannot upload up till the appointment date will be assisted free of charge at their center. Baggie887: |
