Onlytruth: For every ONE Yar adua insult name, there are THREE Jonathan's.you are really daft, i swear. yar'adull is dead, gone and buried. why would anyone waste precious insult on him? use your brain, bro. next, you will start perusing all the threads looking for sani abacha insults to compare ratio with badluck jonathan? are you that slow? |
seunfly: When there was protest in the southwest against the yaradua cabals we never hear any one mentioned a gang up by sw with ss against the north, when peaple like falana, wole soyinka, tunde bakare were protesting for gudluck then was not sw/ss against the north infact se remain silent it wz only dora akunyili dt spoke against it.Don't mind these yeye igbo fools. OP is a igbo boy pretending to be allied with SS. It is the SS folks I pity. they shouldn't allow themselves to be pushed around by the empty brained tribalistic easterners. at least SS got a president. all the minority tribes will get their president before igbo does. mark my wordss ![]() we will see who is ganging up against who. |
Interesting point. but what is your proposed solution now? |
cigar icon: Gosh why do pple think some body is like every body? She says she doesn't wear make up simple, its her life and you can just do little or nothing about it. Just like me, I don't wear shirts with stripes, now why would anyone think I'm lieing or maybe because I'm a broke guy or I'm still young to wear them? That all fishes live in water doesn't make everything in the water a fish okay?it's called an "assumption" if a woman goes around in skimpy clothes exposing her boobs, most people assume she is probably a harlot. does that mean that it's true? NO. she might even be a nun or virgin. but that can't stop anybody from making assumptions. an assumption is a presumption or hypothesis. so, plz learn to read before you post. good for you if you don't wear shirts with stripes. I can safely assume that you are not in a kansas jail. |
PAGAN 9JA, the nairaland troll. ![]() what does it feel like to be quoted on Yahoo news and Atlantic wire? |
Nigeria Is Not Impressed by Kim Kardashian Ever wonder what our nation looks like to folks from afar? In this feature, Home News From Afar, we look at how a uniquely American story--the kind of news we have trouble explaining even to ourselves--is being told overseas. Kim Kardashian went to Nigeria to promote a party. Stop, we can feel your eye roll from here. That said, we were wondering what her reception was like and (surprise?) it appears Nigerians dislike Kardashian as much as most Americans do—but for completely different reasons. The reason Kardashian was there was that she was co-hosting something called the "Love ... Like a Movie" event with an R&B singer who isn't as famous her—and she stayed all of 45 minutes. With that, we present how well her visit went over in Nigeria and African media: Never mind that there are rumors of that Kardashian was paid $500,000, at least one Nigerian newspaper sees Kim as the sign that Nigeria is a draw for the rich and famous. Kim Kardashian Is a Lot That's Wrong American Morals The rumour was that she’d been paid 500,000 Benjamins for the honour of mixing with the petro-class. She arrived on Saturday evening (on Air France), and left within twenty-four hours (someone Instagrammed her back at MMIA). Prole class tickets were apparently N100,000 ($640), although quite a few got in gratis on the guest list.So essentially, Kardashian swindled the people wealthy enough and dumb enough to spend a lot of money on tickets to see her, the way Weate believes wealthy Nigerians have screwed the poor. Kim Kardashian Is Why Nigeria Needs to Foster Homegrown Talent ... Why waste so much fund in bringing the almighty Kim K to Nigeria when we have better, finner, sexier, funnier and more intelligent celebs here? Was she worth the money spent in shipping her to Naija? I seriously doubt. SMH...anyway as soon as I can lay my hands on more pics, I 'll definitely post them. Who Is Kim Kardashian? Is she a reality show freak? An A-list celebrity? Perhaps the most knowing Kim Kardashian responses were the trolls on the Nairaland Forum—which sort of seems like a Nigerian version of Reddit, where they played a simple game of "Who Is Kim Kardashian?" https://cdn.theatlanticwire.com/img/upload/2013/02/18/rendered/61eb32db384d7270d9e1db716d971aa4_640x370.jpg http://news.yahoo.com/nigeria-not-impressed-kim-kardashian-192711617.html http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2013/02/nigeria-not-impressed-kim-kardashian/62256/ |
ogugua88: It's simply an article that caught my eye. No one said women only wear makeup for men. There's no need for anyone to take it personal. I don't wear makeup myself. I don't know how to apply it and don't own any. I only shared it because of the different opinions from different men about different makeup styles, which I found interesting and hoped others would as well. That's the moral of the article: different people have different opinions about makeup. Some like heavy make up, some like mild/moderate, and some like none. What one may like, another may not like. One man's drink is another man's poison. One man's trash is another's treasure. Osondi owendi.oh ok. if you don't wear make up or have never worn make-up then I assume you are young, student, deeper-life or in a non-professional career. just as if you tell me you don't own any suits, formal attires, or jewelry I assume the same thing. yea maybe I should create a topic on what kind of earrings and necklaces men love to see women wear. I will just make sure to notify you so that you can use your mod power to place it on the front page. ![]() |
this is a stupi.d topic. and only made frontpage because the OP is a mod. mtcheww 90% of the time, most women don't have make up on their face. we only wear it to go out etc. you make it seem as if women wear it to eat, sleep, bath, watch tv etc. also, whatever makes you believe that women wear make up just for men. who cares if some guy loves it or don't. I would prefer he likes my face in its natural state. and make up is for presentation or glamour just like fancy or formal attires. even the most beautitul women wear makeup. heavy make up sef.as long as at the end of the day, you come home and wash it off to get back to daily home routine/ realities. the question you should be asking is what kind of personality men love. deeper life personality, conservative or wild personality. etc because it is personality (or even career/ stage in life etc) that determines what kind of make up a woman will wear. not her beauty. at the end of the day, she is ultimately doing it to express herself. |
ogugua88: A lot of celebrities are short believe it or not. Shakira = 5'2. Kylie Minogue = 5'1. Usher sef no tall pass 5'8. All na film trick.eeish... how much is her PR manager paying you? ![]() |
she's short and stocky ![]() didn't know she was only 5'1. lol |
I love this girl!! but see their tiny noses. lol they look alike |
what is she coming to do? she's not a singer. not an actress. not a dancer. what exactly is she coming to do? mtchewww na only one area she get talent for. shey na se.x-tape she wan come make with darey? |
Crayola1: The source from a university mentioned Hausa before Yoruba and your mouth still wags lmao.better go and find a wet transformer and hug it tightly before I catch you. maybe then you can be celebrated for heroism in your village for escaping my wrath ![]() |
Afro_Blue: he also toasted A-list Hollywood babesyeah and Selita Banks, the victoria secret model. these girls sef. Unless he is giving her a lot of money then I can understand her being his temporary girlfriend till she finds a real husband. |
ItsModella: What are you on about? She's from Angola....like seriously, you're gonna say she's from Cape Verde simply because she's light skinned? that's just BS..both of her parents are Cape Verdean, sweerie ![]() she was born in Angola though. cape verde is part of africa anyway. although it's off by itself on an island and most of them look latino because of their portuguese mix. |
Real-Mccoy:shut up. she's actually from Cape Verde not Angola. Angolans are darker skinned. clearly the Angolan men don't think much of their own women either! and last year, ghana sent an oyinbo woman to represent their country! hahaha African low self esteem indeed. |
of all the people in the world. it's an american football player she went for. did she do her research? how many of those kind of marriages last long? will he play football and make money forever? instead of her to take a leaf from the other african women: Oluchi Onweagba, Liya Kedebe, Iman etc and settle for a stable low key rich guy. she will be used and dumped and recycled 10x before her eyes open. tyra banks, selita banks, chanel etc. it's these African American girls who are being used and dumped she's trying to copy. She is going to end up as a baby mama and ruin her life. |
PhysicsQED: I can't claim any expertise on the Haitian revolution, but it looks to me like religion might have been one of the most important factors behind the uprising, so I don't think it's importance should be minimized. Probably, if they had all accepted Christianity, there might not even have been a revolution.I agree with you on the Haitian revolution ![]() I can't speak for the eboes though. they were busy committing suicides in Savannah Georgia that's their definition of heroism. I wonder why the loudmouths among them aren't committing suicides now. that would help a lot. |
toshmann: They wanted to secede so they can keep their slaves. If that's not inhuman racism you tell me what it is. that is if mexico doesn't invade them first. If I remember my history class lessons correctly, the only reason they joined the USA was because they needed protection against Mexico. USA actually fought a 2yr long war against Mexico on Texas' behalf and in exchange for that, Texas agreed to join the USA. and besides, the land originally belonged to Mexicans until americans moved there to overpopulate it and then claimed it as their own free independent state. LOL |
Onlytruth: Well, I have a DATABASE containing names of Nairalanders I never respond to,pity nairaland is a full time job for you. and ain't it ironic that you spend your whole day posting trash on nairaland instead of biafraland? The internet is one place where you can't have the nigerian government on your back. No one force you to be on nairaland yet you spend all you day posting on nairaland just like you sit your butt in ibadan yarning fantasy about biafra, a region you probably have not stepped foot in for years! what a fool. truth is bitter but you need to swallow it one way or another. |
7842I: A Nigerian president from igboland will turn this nation (or Biafra) around in 4 years.let him turn igboland around first. I'm sure the igbo boys chosen to represent super eagles team were sought out because for their performances in their local teams first (warri wolves etc). so for us to be sure you will sincerely turn Nigeria around, first of all turn igboland around then you will not even need to do anything. everyone will BEG you to help lead the nation. I know I would.until that happens, you must learn to stick by the rules of nigerian politics. corrupt as it may be. in the end politics is really just a dirty game. if you think people are leaving you out, then maybe you just aren't playing dirty enough. |
7842I: If you guys need glory like the AFCON GOLD, elect Igbo man for president. Those guys are pure classy.unfortunately, presidential tenure is only 4 yrs. not 19 yrs. try again. |
rhymz: I just soiled my pants and typing rubbish while waiting for my caretaker to change my diapers. No biafran govt will take you, for one. so you better go and sit your atheist azz down in a corner. wonder why you are following me about the forum. fool looking to be noticed. while you are at it, change your location back to Lagos. only in your dreams do you live in Owerri. none of you biafra loudmouths can fool anyone. |
Onlytruth: If you REALLY believe the two bolded words, then you are either living in an island completely disconneted from the rest of the world, or you are playing a lame gambit. lolfirst of all, when I say "YOU" I mean the entire igbo population which numbers in the millions! not a mere 100 person CORRECTION: Two million people died in a war they were not implicit in. Most of them were innocent victims MANIPULATED,ROPED AND FORCED into a war by their greedy, selfish leaders who somehow managed to maintain fat potbellies (not from kwanshiokor mind you) throughout the length of the conflict! I don't mind the igbo people separating from Nigeria if it is an overwhelming wish of the millions of igbo people (not just self-appointed spokespersons aka eze ndigbos, ohanaezes or whatever titles these fat old men give themselves). and trust me, if it were an overwhelming wish by the igbo people, biafra would be in existence already by now! because millions of people acting toward a single goal cannot be toyed with. and of course nigeria won't kick out igbo territory. what country voluntarily gives up a substantial portion of its territory. What it could do is kick out the people and keep the land. many countries have done that. literally wiped out or kicked whole groups of undesired people from its borders either by stripping them of citizenship status or other means. Nigeria has no problems with igbo folks so far so what's the need for that? but if you want that to happen then you can start instigating/creating problems. give other tribes in Nigeria a reason to retaliate or hate the igbos among them (as igbo are the main tribe that lives among others. which put them in a vulnerable position other tribes don't have to worry about. and maybe that's why it's the migrant igbos who are most vocal about secession since they feel the vulnerability the most. but why don't they just return to their region?). so anyway, one thing you can do is to instigate trouble just the way the igbo coup leaders did that led to pogroms in the north. of course the fact that some igbo folks there were jubilating and celebrating the coup in the streets of northern states made things worse. maybe that's one way you can set fire back into your secessionist movement and get mass igbo support for your goals. 1. instigate trouble in non-igbo nigerian regions 2.let these non-igbo tribes retaliate on the igbos living among them. 3.and then use the retaliation as a way to manipulate/convince igbo masses that there is a genocide attempt on their lives if they don't join biafra. 4. use the masses as tools for your aim. human sacrifices if you wish. lol 5. mission accomplished ( right?) |
Texas of course is also the largest oil producing state in the USA. If you have ever heard of the oil company Texaco, it is named after Texas and short for "Texas Company" that produces refined oil and natural gas. Do you think this has a bearing on why it wants its "independence"? Of course the other major reason is Obama. The texans don't want a black man as their president so they want to form their own country and "self-determine" ![]() Do you think USA should stay united? Or states should have the right to secede from it? also, what can Nigerians learn from this? |
White House Rejects Petitions to Secede, but Texans Fight On By MANNY FERNANDEZ Published: January 15, 2013 AUSTIN, Tex. — More than 100,000 people who signed an online petition calling on the Obama administration to allow Texas to secede from the United States and create an independent government received an official 476-word response from the White House last week. The short answer was no. But the response — in which a White House official said the founding fathers established the United States as a “perpetual union” — hardly discouraged the Texas secession movement, which has been simmering for decades but gained momentum after the re-election of President Obama. On the opening day of the Legislature here last Tuesday, supporters of the Texas Nationalist Movement — a group that wants Texas to sever its federal ties and become an independent nation — met with Republican leaders, including Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. It was another sign that ideas once regarded as radical and even unpatriotic have found a measure of support, or at least sympathy, among some conservatives. The movement also scored a mention in one legislator’s opening-day speech, though it was not a reference that pleased supporters of the cause. “Our economy is so vast and diverse that if Texas were its own country — and no, don’t worry, that isn’t something we’re going to do this session — but if we were, we’d be the 14th-largest economy in the world,” the speaker of the House, Joe Straus III, a San Antonio Republican, told lawmakers. Obama administration officials were reacting to a flurry of secession petitions filed by residents of Texas and other states on a section of the White House Web site. The Texas petition, with 125,746 signatures, declared that withdrawing from the Union was “practically feasible” since the state had a balanced budget. The director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Jon Carson, wrote in his response that free and open debate was good for democracy, but also cited some of the legal arguments against secession, including Texas v. White, an 1869 Supreme Court ruling that found that individual states did not have a right to secede. “Our founding fathers established the Constitution of the United States ‘in order to form a more perfect union’ through the hard and frustrating but necessary work of self-government,” Mr. Carson wrote. “They enshrined in that document the right to change our national government through the power of the ballot — a right that generations of Americans have fought to secure for all. But they did not provide a right to walk away from it.” Mr. Carson was answering secession petitions filed by residents of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and five other states, as well as one counterpetition seeking the deportation of everyone who signed a secession petition. The communications director for the Texas Nationalist Movement, Jeff Sadighi, shrugged off the White House response and pointed to a section of the State Constitution that says Texans have the right “to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.” At the opening of the legislative session, the group rallied on the steps of the Capitol and went to the offices of lawmakers seeking support for a referendum asking Texas voters to accept or reject secession. They got a warm reception: the group’s president, Daniel Miller, met with Mr. Dewhurst for about an hour. “We had a lengthy discussion about the U.S. Constitution, the Texas Constitution and the future of Texas,” Mr. Miller said. “He was cordial and engaging on the issues with which we are concerned.” A spokesman for the lieutenant governor, Matt Hirsch, said that Mr. Miller was one of several constituents who met with Mr. Dewhurst on the first day of the session, but that as a proud veteran Mr. Dewhurst believed in preserving and protecting the Union. A version of this article appeared in print on January 16, 2013, on page A11 of the New York edition with the headline: White House Rejects Petitions To Secede, but Texans Fight On. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/16/us/politics/texas-secession-movement-unbowed-by-white-house-rejection.html?_r=0 |
Onlytruth: We would rather secede, but y'all cling to us for life support.this is getting lame. If you were serious about "seceding" then you would have done so by now. puhleaze. all these yeye igbo men typing on Nairaland from their bedrooms in Ibadan and Kano, spewing rubbish about "we would rather secede." abeg don't make me laugh jare. Infact, If Nigeria throws igbo people out of Nigeria tomorrow, same igbo folks will complain that Nigeria is tribalistic that's why it kicked igbos out of the Union. rotfl look at the super eagles. if there were no igbos on the team they will complain. if there are igbos on the team, they will still find some abberant nonsense to say. you need to look at yourself in the mirror, bro. |
bigfrancis21: Every culture is unique and no culture is better than the other. This is what you're taught in Philosophy and History (general studies) classes in the University. The Igbo culture is unique and rich, so is the Yoruba culture.what do you mean Yoruba people are binded by conservative tradition. abeg go and park jor. Yorubas are a very balanced tribe. we keep a good balance of progressiveism but at the same time, we keep our traditions. best of both. and your comparison between UK and US makes no sense. First, US became world power only by taking advantage of the fact that WWI&II virtually destroyed most parts of Europe Second, US is a country of immigrants hence the reason people describe it as having "no tradition" because duh the culture and traditions is always influx and changing based on immigration patterns. America did not throw her arms wide open to "accept" or "adopt" foreign values. Actually, the opposite is the case. America throws its hands wide open to accept foreign people (as sources of labor and talent whether through immigration or slavery etc.) yea but it definitely doesn't accept their values or ideals. infact, it often disrespects them. it wants the people. not their opinion or cultures LOL and bonus points if the foreigners can adopt American culture and values (aka assimilation) instead. so far asians are the best (non white races) at this. that' why asians are called "model minority" in USA. they don't try too hard to influence american culture or speak out to assert themselves in the country. they assimilate really fast. yet they contribute immensely through labor and academic talent to it economy. I think we yorubas have similar mentality. we will welcome you to our lands. but really we only want your labor/talent. we prefer you return to your land when you are no longer needed. otherwise learn to assimilate and adopt yoruba culture. with the hopes that by the third generation, traces of your tribe will be erased. your grandkids will not even remember that they had one igbo ancestor. how think yoruba cultures were preserved so strongly for over 200 yrs in cuba, brazil, haiti etc? we recruit and assimilate blacks from other parts of africa too to help build our culture and nation stronger! ![]() so yea keep dreaming. |
]keep it coming!!! ![]() didn't know nairaland had so many cute guys |
could this be just a rumor? |
oyb: long and short - the only place where ibos can d business is where there is no regulation whatsoever any tom, dick or harry is free to wake tomorrow and become a dealer ![]() |
