HisRib: Biko...please... There's no need to be upset. This young girl's talent clearly surpasses that of Nollywood actors combined. It's quite clear who the true star is. The one who will seating next to Angelina Jolie, Meryl Strip, George Clooney at the oscars. It's a wrap! Goodbye!whatever floats your boat. Oscars is an American/European thing. do you see Americans fighting over representation in Nollywood? Why should we be fighting over who gets to go represent in Oscars? who cares? we have our own award ceremony. and just for the records. She is NOT representing Africa at the Oscars. The movie was created, produced and directed by Canadians. Just because she acted in it doesn't mean she automatically is representing all Africans. Remember Slumdog Millionaire, the American movie about India. So will you say that Freida Pinto who won an Oscar for her role is representing India? She is NOT even a bollywood actress. Slumdog Millionare is an American movie with indian people starring in it. very plain and simple. Do you see indians fighting over that? NO most indians could care less. they prefer their bollywood actresses. all these Oyinbo worshippers don tire me. |
^ shut up. this isn't free land. The land still belongs to the enugu goverment. just allocated for the yoruba community to build a secretariat. igbos have the same in lagos and SW. in fact they have so much much more. so what's your problem? |
The title of this thread is SOOO misleading. She is not going to represent Africa, per se. She is going to represent herself and the movie she starred in, War Witch, which is a Canadian movie about Africa and was produced by a Canadian/Vietnamese film maker. This movie was nominated for an Oscar award. |
Nice one. I wonder what the Enugu governor did with the Hajj money. |
omg ekt_bear, stop embarrassing yourself all over NL. odikwa serious |
Funke Akindele-Oloyede Sets the Record Straight: “I am the woman he got married to. I was married properly. Alot of negative comments came from sadists who want to run their mouths. So because I am a Youth Ambassador or Celebrity, I can’t have my life?” she asks rhetorically. It is my life. If I do things because people want me to, I will end up unhappy. I do what I do because I want to be happy. I would still continue to teach morals and campaign against HIV/AIDS and enlighten the youths. It doesn’t make me bad; that is even if it is, because I can tell you authoritatively that my husband is not married to anyone else. Yes, he has beautiful children, who are not mine now and we have a cordial relationship, which dates back to even before we got married. ‘So what if he has kids? Is that a disease? That is where my heart is! I had many non-biological children even before I got married. I take them as my own children, pay their bills and help them. I have always loved children. So now that God has given me these ones, what should I do? Will people be happier if I had married someone who didn’t have children, seem so perfect, put on my make-p and fake smile on the red carpet and start weeping when I get home?’ She queries a deadpan ton. And about my in-laws, they are very wonderful and supportive and my parents and siblings as well. Culled From Genevieve Magazine |
Reminds me of when El-Rufai did an analysis of Anambra's budget and to Peter Obi it was a sliding tackle which he lacked the guts to pay back. He had to convert it into "an insult to Ndigbo" to whip up sentiments of IGBOS..LOL. I don't blame them. I blame the igbo people for allowing themselves to be used as pawns for these foolish greedy old bastards. They were used as pawns aka sacrificial lambs in the past. and they will continue to be used as pawns by their so called self appointed "leaders" |
Presidency replies Nwabueze, says no indices of failed state in Nigeria Senior Special Adviser to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe on Monday described the comments by elder statesman, Prof. Ben Nwabueze that Nigeria is sliding into a failed state as a gross act of irresponsible and demonstration of lack of patriotism, arguing that available facts and figures do not suggest anything of such. He said those describing Nigeria as a failed state or that it is nearing this are wishing and dreaming evil for the country, adding that this would not come to pass Also, Osaro Onaiwu, the Special Adviser on governors and governance to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described as unpatriotic, the recent statements credited to some eminent Nigerians that Nigeria is becoming a failing state. Prof. Nwabueze had, at the 14th Annual Convention of the Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) in Enugu on Saturday, stated that Nigeria was fast sliding into a failed state. His words: “This country is on the verge of becoming a failed state, there are so many failed states in Africa and Nigeria is on the verge of getting that status of a failed state. “Before now, we didn’t know about kidnapping, but it has become a way of life. Did we know about bombings before? But today, churches, schools, offices are being bombed on daily basis; the worst is that the bombers are not coming from outside the country, we are bombing ourselves. Reacting also to the position of the elder statesman, Onaiwu lamented that while nationals of other countries find ways to prop up their countries, Nigerians are in the habit of running down their country. He further said this was even more disturbing, knowing that some of these statements are coming from elders (Nwabueze) who contributed to the decimation of Nigeria during their service to various undemocratic regimes in the past. His words: "Now that our democracy is displaying stability even in its infancy, these statesmen should be thankful to this government for tackling some of the fundamental problems that were thrown at us by regimes that were not accountable to anybody. Problems that we all know cannot be solved overnight". He also posited that a better way to determine whether Nigeria is a failing state or not is to look at the Foreign Direct Investment, which he said is already over $9 billion and is the largest in Africa. "I doubt if all these foreigners pumping money into our country think Nigeria is a failing state". |
apology ko, apo garri ni. Okupe, we Nigerians are behind you 100%. you are doing your job as spokesperson of GEJ/ Nigeria executive branch. the so called Biafra Youth Movement can go to HELL. you are not oyinbo. you are not USA. if you insult Nigeria or call it a failed state, you shall be insulted back. if you don't like it then you should pack your load, wear lipstick and move to Ivory Coast. we no send. infact, Nwbueze and his biafran ilks need to be rounded up by GEJ and thrown in jail ![]() they will never cease in their attempts to try to find every possible way they can in their aim to destroy Nigeria. God punish them. |
the rumors came from her video. She sings about taking "no more" and retaliating on her abusive boyfriend. ..make you commot for my face before I give you my FIST.. ![]() If you touch me again, I will strike, I will shout, I will scratch, I will scream, I will kick, I will hit, I will fight you, make you cry.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z40NCeAarF8 |
she's pretty |
^ OK you sound a bit crazy there but it's ok. we all have our moments. |
Alleinad: Helpful, yet it boils down to the girls personality.GBAM!! make up is just like clothes or jewelry style. women wear it based on how they want to express themselves to the world. a woman who never wear makeups will usually not be fond of jewelry either. she will probably have a reserved personality. not always true but usually true. |
Billyonaire: The reason is simple. She is a brand and you are not. Now, should the world blame her cos she was a victim to boyfriend abuse ? Should she, just like an average critic recoil to her momthers kitchen and stay a victim all her life ? I personally know Kim Kardashian is cut out of steel. She is a victor.boyfriend abuse? are you ok? I think you are confusing Kim K with Rihanna.do your google search before commenting abeg. |
ogugua88: Meanwhile, "e concern us" mentality led to ALUU 4.well, that's the whole point. things like ALUU 4 has been happening in naija for ages. and usually nobody says or does anything because "e no concern me" The fact that people all over nigeria took notice and condemned it very publicly this time around is what we should be celebrating because it gives a warning to other perpetrators to think before they do any such thing in the future! |
okpara ugo: Am waiting for you to do thesame. Stop glorifying ashawo.GBAM |
ogugua88: ]Bia. Help me decide in which language to laugh at you.well, you didn't answer the question. I can sit down in front of the tv and watch a PINK! music video with my kid. her songs are inspirational. Just as I can sit in the living room and watch a genevive nnaji movie with my daughter. despite their pasts. Sunny Okosun, Ebenezer Obey and many other entertainers in naija turned around to start singing gospel music despite their past. My family listens to them every sunday morning. that's a commendable thing. you cannot possibly say the same for Kim K or Paris Hilton. trash trash trash!!!what exactly are you trying to argue sef? |
ogugua88: Notice how you used Pink's video. Did you know that she was doing heroin and other recreational drugs as early as age 11? She turned her life and is a pop sensation globally. Don't tell your kids about her though. Those mistakes in her past have long deemed her unworthy to society. Why will I not tell my kids about her? I love Pink's music. they are inspirational. if she did heroine in her youth, turned her life around and decided to warn girls about the negative influence of media, all the better!!! more reason for me to show her to my children!! how do you compare this with Kim, what exactly should I show to my child about kim as a source of inspiration? grow a big silicon butt so you can be famous for no talent? jump from man to man (preferably football stars and rappers) to increase your popularity?Barbara Walters' commentary on the Kardashians hit the nail on the head! she called them out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YMV05HosIo |
ogugua88: If you don't want your daughter being influenced by who you deem bad, then don't allow her to see it. Madonna's children do not watch television. If she can monitor her children as busy as she is, then no one else has any excuse. If you want your daughter to rise above such stereotypes, then teach and show her otherwise. Remind her of her self-worth. Don't make Kim Kardashian and others your scapegoats. For parents with money that can afford to shelter their children from bad influences, yea they don't have to worry about Kim K. but for majority of parents out there, let them worry. they have every right to worry. In fact, negative media messages are must destructive to children from poor backgrounds and especially blacks! not every parent is a millionaire like Madonna that can afford to send her child to preppy private school. imagine your child going to a public school and all her female classmates are talking about Kim K and all she has to say is "i don't watch tv" she will be the butt of laughs. what teenager want to be a social outcast. if you are a mom working nights. how will you monitor your child to make sure she is not watching tv to try to fit in at school with her friends? just in case you didn't see it the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR4yQFZK9YM |
ogugua88: I still don't see the hypocrisy. People shouldn't get moral on her.I don't think you should put kim k or cossy (sluts) in the same sentence with Genevieve Nnaji (role model). just like you wouldn't put ASA in the same sentence with Tonto Dikeh. all celebrities are not created equal. Genevieve Nnaji may be a teen mom. but she is a celebrity in her own right as a talented actress. big difference. |
omo_to_dun: @ogugua88you are a guy. what do you care? do you have teenage daughters? if no, then you have no say. the likes of Kim K, Paris Hilton and their sex-video ilks are there for your satisfaction anyway. who are the main consumers of the sex-videos. but ultimately, these women are making money at the expense of society and young girls (esp ones without good parental guidance) who are learning from TV that all they need is boob and butt to make it in life. media and society are sexist. have always been. but it's nice to see a backlash against this horrible promotion. we endured paris hilton. and now kim k. who is going to be next. God have mercy. |
Kim Kardashian started this stupid trend. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/01/03/article-0-16BD736B000005DC-945_638x821.jpghttps://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/01/03/article-0-16BD6C77000005DC-596_638x824.jpghttps://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/01/03/article-0-16BD5F82000005DC-268_308x690.jpg http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2256733/Pregnant-Kim-Kardashians-workout-pants-turn-camera-flashes.html |

I can't be explosive on NL or anywhere else for that matter. That energy would be best channeled elsewhere.
