Onlytruth: Yes, BUT you would also agree that there are powerful forces within Nigeria (perhaps not more than three men) that are basically holding everybody hostage in that country. The rest of the country is beholden to these men who hold enormous powers of life and death, as well as carrots. If you refuse to be paid with the carrots, you may die. So, most simply take the carrot and keep quiet even while mortgaging the future of their own children. They console themselves by sending their children overseas with the money they got from these few evil men holding Nigeria hostage. Nobody knew how tenuous Iraq was until Saddam Hussein died. The whole of North Africa is yet to settle down after Gaddafi's death. Nigeria will unravel the same way, for good or for bad. Either way, don't blame the whole country yet, at least until these few evil men go the way of Saddam and Gadaffi.you and your foolish comments all over Nairaland. Last time I checked, Hussein fell under Bush and USA which waged a decade long war in that country! the place is 100x worse now. Obama went boasting to the whole world after killing Gadaffi not so long ago. that country is about to turn into a hell hole. so, if you are praying for Nigeria to be invaded by USA, I'm sorry but you will be very disappointed. Things will get WORSE not better. let's not forget that USA role in getting rid of African leaders (Patrice Lumumba, Nkrumah etc) or meddling with african affairs is not new. |

Even Nollywood will not accept this script. you no try at all. here I am thinking you will say that the brazilian girls were afraid of sexua.l harassment/theft from nigerian males. that would be more credible. |

LIES!!!! I don't buy the article's fabricated story one bit. instead of pointing fingers at some invisible culprit, they should be pointing at themselves. buildings just don't collapse unless it has sustained a heavy impact. and people would have noticed it. it's not as if Dana airplane fell on it so who are they trying to accuse? anti-igbo elements my azz. stupid thiefs. when you are constructing a building and eating the money, what kind of results do you expect? made in china construction work ![]() The most important part of the article is in the very last sentence: “We have an experienced engineer who is handling the project and I wonder why it should suddenly collapse.what they didn't mention is that the building is still under construction. hahahaha thank God. it would have collapsed on people's heads otherwise. |

lastpage: No need for all these bashing of each other.please STFU. I live in the USA so I can tell you what developed country looks like. I should be last person celebrating on this thread. yet I'm still celebrating Fashola because I know he is a doer!! you talk about the 60s and 70s but forget that we only achieved independence from Britain in 1960. Of course all the British structures were still brand new then. besides they are probably restricted to just a few places in downtown lagos and for the rich. How many people owned or drove cars in the 70s? Fashola is doing great work even by USA standards because I know the governor in my state of New Jersey isn't doing half of what Fashola is doing. The job of politicians and leaders in developed countries is much smoother and easier. Most of them will not be able to do what fashola is doing in lagos, the largest city in Africa! they will give up and peg it on backwardness of Africans and run back to their country where things are easier to get done. Fashola is an intelligent man. He could easily move abroad and have a easy life there. but instead he chose to serve his country. let us give praise where praise is due, abeg. |
^ Don't mind that enemy of progress see as he is trying to hijack the thread with his spam posts. this thread is about Lagos. not Enugu. that fool needs to STFU and go create a separate thread for his agenda. |
Some may say that street light is "nothing" but in the African context and especially, Nigeria, it is an achievement. let's be honest with ourselves. we should give praise where praise is due. Things are harder to achieve in Africa and everyone knows that. Even the best construction company building street lights all over USA will come to Nigeria and be dumbfounded because it's just harder to get things done in a less developed country. So please, let us keep encouraging our governor because I know he is working hard and it shows!!! also, for some of the igbo folks on here are talking trash about how things are "better" in Enugu or Abia. Talk is cheap and at the end of the day, they are all flocking to Lagos and other parts of SW. It is migration pattern that is usually the main evidence/determinant of development. So if Enugu was so developed as you say, they why are you still all flocking to Lagos? Please change your bitter attitudes and celebrate progress with us. no reason to be bitter. why should good thing be paining you? I've seen the Engugu thread and folks there celebrate little things as construction worker holding a shovel. so why are you mad that we are celebrating street lights? At least we have completed pictures to show for it. not just minor constructions. EKO O NI BAJE!! |
Mishydoo: ...She has no choice but †̥ be gay!No guy wld wanna do her!you make no sense. if she want a guy to do her, all she will need to do is sit in front of TV everyday, eat and sleep like you. she will lose her muscles and grow fat. her choice is to be muscular. I guess she likes to be like a man. because not even all men are muscular like that. it takes a lot of work and hard to maintain. |
I've threatened her with moving in with dad but each time i do that, she's always remorseful. I might just do it without her knowing, thats all.sorry to say but what you have is a manipulative mother. Trust me I know because my best friend for almost 10yrs has one. and like you, she is also an only child with divorced parents. this kind of mother doesn't have anyone else so they channel all their emotions including anger and regret on their child. they are very controlling and extremely manipulative. you need to be strict and move out (even if its temporary). ignore her "remorse" or games. because she is playing games with you. if she locks the door and refuse to talk to you. let her. ignore her back. I suggest you move to your dad because these actions of her slapping you at 23 will definitely affect you into your future. it will traumatize you and even affect your relationship with your own future children (and husband). please do not tolerate it. |
also, there is nothing wrong with criticizing immoral acts. after all. you wouldn't want your daughters befriending such women who go around sleeping with married men. neither will you wish such on your sisters. Yea, the bible says that we shouldn't judge or "throw stones". but can you imagine society without a police force, without lawyers, judges, elders advice etc. will civilization even exist without such boundaries and rules where anything goes as if we are in an animal kingdom |
InvertedHammer:I love how people interpret the bible however they wish to to suit their wanton desires. Next you know this fool will be giving bible verses to justify why stealing, cheating, lying, murder, adultery, prostitution etc are "favorable in God's eyes" Afterall, the adulterous woman condemned to stoning found favor in God's eyes. So did the thieves at the cross. So does that mean that all women should become prostitutes in order to be accepted by christ or that all men should become polygamous or thieves in order to "find favor"? what you should be praying for is wisdom and spirit of discernment. Ability to read the bible and understand God's word in a sensible way. then maybe you won't be on NL spewing trash... |
har·em /ˈhe(ə)rəm/ Noun The part of a Muslim household reserved for wives, concubines, and female servants. The wives (or concubines) of a polygamous man. |
Ola one: Mums of many of these holier-than-thou posters weren't first wives. In RL, I can say this about at least 40% of my friends.speak for yourself. My father has only one wife - my mum. maybe you're speaking about grandparents generation where women were married off to men at age 16 or less and were treated like slaves. ie man marrying a harem of multiple wives ![]() This is 21st century. Yea if she wants to practice polygamy. good for her. but she needs to carry her prostitution work to a consenting couple. No woman in this world will pray for husband to be sleeping around. unless she doesn't love him in the first place and therefore doesn't care. so, speak for yourself. your father must have multiple concubines from the way you speak. pity for the poor mother of yours. and if you have a daughter or sister, may God grant her the "privilege" to be 5th wife to her husband. AMEN. |
LOLA ALAO: A WOMAN YOU WOULD NEVER PRAY TO MARRY-HUBBY REVEALS Posted To The Web: Monday, October 05, 2009 - Nigeriafilms.com Actress Lola Alao http://news.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?z=3&a=8733 She got married to her husband on 8th of June, 2002, though, the estranged husband, Dare, an international car dealer has confessed that he couldn’t not figure out how he got to the venue of the wedding, he just found out that he was at a certain registry in Ejigbo an outskirt of Lagos State where Lola, the producer and actress dragged him to sign the dotted lines. “I just woke up that morning and found myself in a wedding ceremony with her. I was reluctant initially but I became so helpless and weak to the extent that I couldn’t go contrary to her command. Since then, I have been in her web. None of my family was there, I can remember that she got some of her friends, she signed for me and one Nollywood/Yoruba director called Olu signed for her.” Dare, the husband revealed. When he was asked why he abandoned Lola, his wife for three years. Hear him “I was taking care of her and the baby, I rented an apartment she lives with her family members for her. Besides, I bought her a Honda car and a Jeep; she gets N80, 000 as monthly allowance from me and all that. When I met her, we didn’t talk about me relocating home and she wanted that to happen. She took me to all sort of herbalists with the ideal of helping my business flourish but I never knew I was digging my grave. She’s fetish, she has all sort of incisions (gbere) all over her waist; you can’t see it unless you look so closely. So, all that happened to me during that time started dawning on me last year; when I realised this I would call her and she would ignore my calls, on few occasions that she picked my calls she would give an excuse that she was on location” Wonders, they say, shall never cease, this is the expose coming out from the husband of this highly controversial actress, Lola Alao whose intention to be remarried to another international bizman was thwarted when the rumor of bigamy trailed her and the purported wedding was postponed. The marriage between the producer of Orule, Tete and Ibere Alako produced a baby girl, Omowunmi, the six year-old baby, is already dragged in their marriage mess as Dare, the father has said not to be sure of her paternity. “With this new development, I’m asking for a DNA test to ascertain the paternity. You know, we had barely met when she told me she was pregnant then and I had my reservations but somehow I put it behind me but with this development it’s just proper for me to be double sure of the baby’s paternity, so I am going for a DNA. Even when we were together, people often hint me about her illicit intimate moves but she was always convincing me, making me to reason with her, you how it’s with women like that and I would just give up.”….story continues, we are coming with the concluding part of how she owes two society women some millions and how Lola has been rolling in the hay with a certain Gbenga in Ikeja whose mother is one of the best hands in culinary aspect. It’s explosive |
well, it's not that difficult to recognize your posts. Bros, you no dey shame? you and sagamite both. |
stupid thread. It's not possible for ANYONE to be a billionaire without being corrupt. plain and simple. a billion is way to much money to make through a purely honest means. whether in Nigeria or Mexico or USA. so, if you ever meet a billionaire. it's best to be suspicious. he/she is scheming a way to con you out of your money. not share his with you. ![]() they are smart sha. |
this crazy woman has finally come to terms with the fact that no sane man will marry her. but the effrontery na wa. when all the other "mistresses" are trying their best to hide their shameful status. this one dey announce am from mountain top. |
HisRib: I'm not an actress. It's not my craft. Did that ever cross your mind? I guess not.Well of course. Like I said, 99% of Nigerians have inferiority complex. including our stars. But just because an actor dreams of attending the Oscars doesn't mean they would want to go through the demeaning treatment or uninteresting work to get there. the comparison you make to harvard is very off. Harvard is an academic institution. Hollywood is a cultural institution. big difference. Academics is more netural (although not completely so). people from different countries can compete with each other academically. hence why harvard is open to everybody (although there is some racism there) but when it comes to hollywood. we are talking about american culture. Even the hardest working people on earth (chinese) are very rare in hollywood. It's not because they are lazy. but because americans will always be better at being American. photocopy ko easy. if we are to create a pidgin english movie, who do you think will be the best actors or actresses? of course it will be africans because we are natural at it. it's part of our culture. yorubas will always be best at yoruba movie etc. indians will always be the best at bollywood. likewise whites will be best in hollywood. |
jesusisgood: I know it is. I am not arguing that, but your article says that Rebelle was nominated for an Oscars, but that is not true.Canada’s ‘Rebelle’ nominated for Oscar for best foreign-language film The child soldier saga Rebelle has nabbed an Academy Award nomination for best foreign-language film, putting Canada in the race for Oscar glory for the third year in a row. The nod is the first for Montreal filmmaker Kim Nguyen, who focused his lens on the grim lives of child soldiers in Sub-Saharan Africa. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/awards-and-festivals/film-awards/canadas-rebelle-nominated-for-oscar-for-best-foreign-language-film/article7158692/ |
HisRib: Believe sweetie, it's too late for all that. Nollywood stars have already done a pretty good job at making themselves appear as goats and baboons.whether goats or baboons at least we do it on our own independent platform. if you want to go and slave for oyinbo you are free to do so. abi what's keeping you from becoming a hollywood actress seeing that you are so much better than our african stars? |
this is what you will see if nollywood actors and actresses are invited to Hollywood. they will be told to jump around like banshee monkeys. to me that is disgraceful. let african actresses stay in africa jor. lets keep our pride. how many oyinbo are begging to appear in our movie. so why should we be salivating at opportunity to denigrate ourselves. ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfKgb2L7nnM |
HisRib: Yea foreigners watch Nollywood movies, but unfortunately that won't get us to Hollywood.inferiority complex will not kill you. I'm guessing you live in Nigeria. 99% of we Nigerians are suffering from inferiority complex anyways. na so so to dey worship oyinbo. Just because oyinbo show you in his movie doesn't mean you are a good actor or actress. All it means is that you are good at acting like a stereotypical "primitive" african aka acting like a baboon. they see you as nothing more than a baboon. which is the image they always go for to portray Africans. Anywonder why all the movies they have about africa is always either about starving children, War or HIV/AIDS. Why should star actresses like Genevieve Nnaja go to hollywood where the script they will give her is to scream like baboon and make voodoo noises or do tribal dance. please don't insult our stars jare. |
