FashionRe: Nigerian Tailors And Their Wahala! by cfours: 11:28pm On Feb 19, 2012
tailors are almost an endangered species soon to go into extinction. this is due to the rise of ready made clothing. even for natives.
20 yrs from now when there are no more tailors around, we will all be nostalgically talking about "back in the days when we had tailors to sew our clothes for us"
but for now, let us keep yabbing them.

FamilyRe: How Do Career Women Cope With Domestic Chores? - Help! by cfours: 10:15am On Feb 19, 2012
@davidylan,

not all women can tolerate that. why live like a single mother in your marriage? The husband is dispensable in that case.

davidylan:
this is not a decision you shld take unilaterally. What is the opinion of your oga husband on this?
yeah I take my words back. That comment was too idealistic.
in all honesty though, I think I will raise my kids the way my mother raised hers.
at the end of the day, most people's own family background will shape their ideas about the role of husband and wife in the family.
The lesson from this really is to look for a spouse that shares your ideal about gender roles in the family.

davidylan:
Madam lets be serious here. My mother is a federal doctor and ran her own private clinic. She was gone most of the time but brought in more than enough dough to keep her sons in private schools. She only did so though as soon as she felt her children had reached the teenage yrs where they could fend for themselves with minimal parental guidance. I have to say her sacrifice was WELL WORTH IT.

Whats the point sacrificing your young child's growing yrs to earn peanuts as a bank teller? you're better off being a stay-at-home mom and raising your child unless your job brings you significant money to be able to hire nannies and housemaids to make your home life easier.
she was "gone most of the time"
that's the key phrase there.
while she was 'gone' who was cooking your meals, cleaning the house and taking care you guys before you reached your teenage yrs?
if she did all of that, then she was slaving. no offense.

and the whole "stay at home" thing is the point i've been trying to make. OP should become a housewife since her husband refuses to help out with domestic chores while she is helping him out with the financial aspect.
I personally refuse to go to work while taking care of children. If I am forced to do that (ex. if husband doesn't make enough) then my husband better know he will also be responsible for changing diapers and washing dishes in the kitchen. There should be absolutely nothing wrong with that. OP needs to talk to her husband and let him know to help out with the domestic chores if he wants her to continue to work full time.

PointB:
And to the two-faced hypocrite who celebrated when they thought government will not honour Ojukwu's burial only to turn around to cheer the NA involvement in the funeral, I say shame on you! You have no principle, and are very sad losers!
oh please, can you blame him. He is just following in Ojukwu's footstep.
The guy came back to run for Nigerian presidential election after the whole biafran episode.

Nigeria is clearly doing the right thing by telling MASSOB off.
PoliticsRe: Ojukwu To Get Full Nigerian Military Burial, Oya Massob Give Way! by cfours: 4:52pm On Feb 18, 2012
I think it's a good move. Let the Nigerian Millitary handle the burial.  and let MASSOB go and sit down for corner. If they are lucky they will be invited to the owambe reception afterward.

wesley80:
Whether or not this was IBB's idea, it makes perfect sense as no sensible govt would sit back and watch a separatist group flex its muscle in the full glare of the international community as MASSOB threatens to. And do you think this would be done without the support of the governors of the Eastern states? No way, I bet they actually requested for this considering the fact that they'll be the first victims of a resurgent MASSOB and an increase in separatist sentiments. All in all, its a good move and in the best interest of the nation.
on point!

I had this problem when I first got married. I would spend my weekend cleaning and cooking and on Monday I will be yawning at work. So here are thing that helped me.
I got rid of the mindset that every corner of my house has to be spotless , so I started following a chore schedule , my husband saw the schedule and willingly picked some chores himself.
this is partially how my dad got into doing house chores and cooking as well.
after a while you just get fed up and burnt out.
FamilyRe: How Do Career Women Cope With Domestic Chores? - Help! by cfours: 4:25pm On Feb 18, 2012
AjanleKoko:
Nah, most men who are saying that aren't married.
Outside kitchen duties and taking care of the kids, there is still a lot to do in the house. What most of us are saying is, the kitchen stuff is women territory, and it's an aberration to want to share that responsibility with your husband. Get a maid if you must.
so you have not read Jaybaby's post? he's a married man and said so himself.
aberration my b.utt. Is it an aberration for women to have professional careers? so, why can't men cook in the kitchen? if you don't want to do any housework, marry a housewife. very simple. or better still open a small shop for her so she doesn't have to work full time.
clearly you have a stone age mentality. check this out:

FamilyRe: How Do Career Women Cope With Domestic Chores? - Help! by cfours: 8:25am On Feb 17, 2012
@chaircover,

spare me the talk about fixing the garden fence. lol how can any one compare daily upkeep of children and household with fixing garden fence?  Men's traditional role is not to fix cars and garden fence but to go out and work to bring money to the household. aka "breadwinner." women do all of that today. so that men's role has now been relegated to fixing car and garden fence? Is that what the title of "breadwinner" entails? how many times a day is garden fence fixing service needed?

there is nothing wrong with doing all the housework if you are a housewife or working part time. but if you work full time and still do up to 60% of domestic chores, then I don't know. something is not right there. lots of women do it but at the expense of the optimal advantage of either their family or career. sometimes you can't have it all!

in western countries, granted things are a bit easier ex dishwasher, processed foods, longer school hours, men helping out A LOT with domestic chores etc etc. but in cases like the OP's where it doesn't seem that her husband is helping out or making things easier for her, I really do not agree with that at all.

next time, think carefully before you exaggerate your comments. like the egusi soup faux pas, for example. I can't stop laughing at that one.

excessive sense of entitlement in play as usual.
map of Nigeria to help people visualize just how small the SE is compared to the north. even with so called 'high density', you can't compare the two regions.

https://www.marketnigeria.org/states%20in%20Nigeria/images/NigeriaStatesMap.gif

When did high population density = high population?
Recall that the entire SE zone is about the size of Oyo State
most sensible post so far. If people didn't look at the figures and only read the comments, one would think that the SE didn't get anything.

Thank U my sister, that is the wish of every man out there, When I get married And my wife makes such a bold claim to slave for me I will also gladly slave for her too not just by saying it but practicing it day by day, Love isnt about being wise its about being ffolish together,  I wish most men will understand that If u cant die for Your wife I mean literally then u aint being a true lover. Love is a decision and u must be willing to serve each other no matter what. May ur Husband find it easy to slave for you too.
Those who have chosen to be ''wise'' in love I wish them all the best and pray that They never fall so sick in life that their partners also become ''wise'' in love.people have become so wise in this age and it is this generation that is saddest in relationship. So many failed relationships/marriages and heartbreaks yet we dont learn. we think with our feelings and take decisions without reflecting deeply on philosophies. Our lives are simply soap operas, Its pathetic
you are finally making sense. both partners should be equally committed to the hard work it takes to keep a household together.

As if any of you still do the traditional naija cooking again. Try making beef stew, it takes me 4 solid hours. Forget about chilli, that one takes an entire day.
I cook stew in the weekend and it lasts me the whole week. during the weekdays I only have to make simple stuff like rice, eba, pasta etc. weekend is for the time consuming foods like stew, beans etc.

IDIOTA!!! Tell us the % of British people married to African/Black women, I stay in Britain and I can tell you It is far easier to have a white girl date/marry an African male than a young white male to date an African girl,  The only alternative u have is to date an old white man and then let me see if u expect him to cook ur meals. The fact is u have a major identity crisis and the earlier u deal with it, the better for u. Take a look at the Asian community and then compare with the black community including jamaicans most especially in the midlands and u will see potential criminals/rioters
of course since you guys are so damn cheap. even a monkey from jungle could date/marry an African male. so what is the matter?
A woman has to be pretty classy to date a white guy. Not always but usually.

Point is: White women definitely aren't submissive like African ones are expected to be. Go and marry a white woman and you will be lucky if she cook for you 3 times out of the week sef. and by cooking I don't mean frozen sandwich.

^ all we're saying is that in developed countries, you could be arrested for treason.  freedom of speech does have a limit especially when you are inciting hate with it.

baby-boy:
I could remember sometime last year on a Nigerian Radio station in England, for 3 hrs this guy spewed enough rubbish to fill the hole in the Ozone!! about how they want to revive Biafra Rep. asking the easterners to join the movement,  If a foreigner who doesnt know what he was talking about he would think another JIHAD movement is been organised! I was thinking why would they give this moan the air time to spew garbage! in the first place!!!
lol. this is the funniest thing about it. 90% of them reside abroad. They don't even live in Nigeria. Na for mouth dem they organize JIHAD.

^^ The Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorum last week said "Women are too emotional to lead combat"
That was a statement made in America by a White American not a Nigerian
He is yet to be fired, actually he leads the polls currently
US politics is different. unless you are a republican millionaire, you really shouldn't go about making those comments.
case in point: Larry summers was fired from his position as president of Harvard for making sexist comments about women in science.
