your propaganda of pretending to be igbo will not fly, igbos speak with one voice and we will always advocate for true federalism or total break up . mean while tel us why you hausa fulanis want to snatch yoruba land by force? ethnic map show there are no hausa fulanis in kwara or kogi so what is your buisness there.
shut up. no where did he pretend to be biafran-igbo.
you must be a fool to think that nigerian-igbos do not exist.

@Icon

Most of the Igbo commenting here also have, or had Yoruba friends.
I personally have refused to share my experience of how my own "friend" betrayed me at the last minute of a very important event.
I don't do that because I don't want to bias others towards hating on Yoruba.
But I would watch my back if I were you.  cool
I will stab you in the back too if I had a friend who started calling me Yoruba and would not shut up about biafra.
you got what you deserved cool

I think the youth are the hope of Nigeria's future.
most of the igbo ones are increasingly born and bred in lagos and abuja anyway.
let's just wait for the old nazi-biafran bigoted papas like Onlytruth to die out.

should we talk about the chalkboard or should we talk about the direction of the flights.
seems everyone is looking for a way to leave the SE nowadays. no wonder they are begging for airports. the ENUGU- LAGOS roads are too crowded.

this is short version of my response to ICON AUS as well.
the igbos on the nairaland politics section are a different breed  grin

Just scared of this hate amongst the two tribes . Over here -overseas my best friends are yourubas whom i have confided in for years but  i am taken aback whenever i read this threads which is full of hatred amongst youruba and Ibo. Sometimes i wonder if it is real since i have yorubas as my friends here and so far we are enjoying the friendship.

In that cases , Ibos have been dealing with their own situations all along therefore yorubas should find a way of  sorting theirs too. But they should stop pretending that they dont have issues with North and faces their problems head on instead of backing out.
do your yoruba best friends see you first as a nigerian or as a biafra-igbo?
because i'm 100% sure they would not associate with you as much if it was the latter.

I have igbo and hausa friends too. even on NL, I interact with igbos on other sections of this forum (romance, family, food, health etc)  but I see them as fellow nigerians. The igbos on the politics section however, they call themselves biafrans. they are definitely not Nigerians.
I hope you understand now.

something else you should try to realize is that yorubas do not have issues with hausas anymore than we have issues with igbos.
half of our population is muslim and so we get along with hausas in the same breath that we get along with igbos. especially with our peaceful nature and even more so being under the umbrella of "Nigeria." I have hausa friends. but how many igbos can boast of having an hausa friend?

our position is starkly different from yours.

something must give. Jos will have peace once again. It used to be the home of peace and tourism with both the plateau indigenes and the hausas living in it. It's very disimilar to the israeli-palestine situation
remember, the igbos are israelites grin
so u shld be used to their senseless associative comments by now.

you are wasting your time. The thread is no longer productive. If they believe Kwara is a conquered territory, then so be it. I think it is time you stop arguing with them.
spoken like a true yoruba.

what the igbos do not understand is that the yoruba identity rests firmly on tradition, family and kinship and transcends ethnic- nationalism.
unlike the 'igbos' where their identity lies in ojukwu and biafra. everything else is non-existent. like an empty barrel, they will forever make noise but everybody knows there is no substance behind it.
RomanceRe: I Forgot My Wifes Birthday by cfours: 8:56pm On Mar 04, 2012
^ some cultures, families and religious sects in nigeria don't celebrate birthdays.
maybe OP comes from a family where birthday celebration wasn't important. but he married a wife who cares a lot about it.  grin
EducationRe: U.s. Student Wants To Do Study Abroad In Nigeria ! by cfours: 8:41pm On Mar 04, 2012
well I don't know what to tell you other than you are really clueless about the whole study abroad process and need to schedule an appointment with the study abroad dept at your school.

These are the two main study abroad/student exchange sponsors that tend to be approved by many american universities.
http://www.ciee.org/
http://www.sit.edu/studyabroad/
none of them have a nigeria program. your closest bet is Ghana. check if your schools approves either of these organizations.

you calling UNILAG and posting inquiry on nairaland is just bizarre. unless you are trying to apply to a nigerian school independently as a fresh student. That is the only way your topic can make any sense.

if not, then try not to forget hers.

Abagworo:
IMHO Nigeria is best as a country but better with true federalism. The major reason I always try to exonerate South from middle belt is the volatile nature of that zone. It is like the "Kashmir" of Nigeria. They neither belong here nor there. The crisis in Plateau will continue forever so will the dual identity of the Kwara. Any attempt to correct or modify it will lead to non-stop war.
I agree. Kwara does have a dual identity.
just like most of SS.

These regions will suffer most from a potential naija break up.
although they could also be in the position to benefit most. since they free oscillate back and forth to side with the region that satisfies their needs the most.
PoliticsRe: North Ready For Nigeria’s Breakup–junaid Mohammed by cfours: 7:36pm On Mar 04, 2012
Do you see why I see Igbos as confused ideeiots. Ok lets assess this thread

the Op is Igbo, the newspaper is clearly a pro-igbo paper and the people talking trash as the Igbo people.

Do you see your folly ?
nice insight
I noticed the same 90% of posters on this thread are igbos as well
the way they are fuming, one would think that they are the ones being 'shafted'
ultimately, the PEOPLE will decide who they want to go with. if a referendum in ilorin shows a result in favor of the north, then so be it.
if the people vote to stay with SW, so be it. they are welcome.
ideally though, Kwara will be divided so that the people who share allegiance with north will go with them while those whose allegiance is to yorubaland will come south.

if ultimately nigeria does break up, it will be nice to have the SW have strong diplomatic ties with the North we can work in partnership especially to face international pressures and powers which will be impossible to do alone as a small independent state.

the big mouthed but empty headed Biafrans can go to hell. maybe we should wage a war against them sef.  wink

Greetings,

I am very interested in doing Study Abroad at a University in Lagos or somewhere close by , Please anyone have any advice.

Some details about myself :

I am a Caribbean American female
I have visited Nigeria twice
I do have friends that are reliable
I am comfortable with the conditions, traditions, and way of life in Nigeria

Thanks Alot !!!
This is bizarre. You have to work through your university in the US to see what programs qualify for study abroad in Nigeria
This is an example of a study abroad program that includes Nigeria. but it has to meet qualifications of your school and program department.
http://www.iiepassport.org/studypackages/african_languages_initiative_afli_program.aspx?returnUrl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.iiepassport.org%2fsearchlistings.aspx%3fcat1%3dAfrica%255c%252c%2bSouth%2bof%2bthe%2bSahara%252cNigeria

unless of course you want to do your entire uni in Nigeria (only God knows why lipsrsealed) then you only need to move to Naija and apply. but such a degree will be almost useless if you plan to return abroad.

Keep working with your child and don't lose hope.

A very big thank you to all the ndi-yoruba on this thread, providing the much needed trolling to my insecure ndi-ibo or ndi-ebo clowns on this thread. Now that eze wuru wuru has finally been buried - we shall wait patiently for the new ndi-ibo wuru wuru ala nwazurike to declare BIAFRA - in our erosion and landlocked bia-fail land.

We ndi-ibo clowns in other parts of Nigeria shall return to home to our bia-fail land - to join our brothers in singing Amun Amun Amun - whilst we drink otapiapia. We shall also send our bia-fail international passports to our ibo brothers in ala-america and ala-south africa - so they can return home to witness this historic day.

Bia-fail will never die! Amun Amun Amun!!

Yours Sincerely,
Otu Nnegi

*shake my head* how typical of these ungrateful lipsrsealed

I will cease this opportunity to also thank those countries who stood by us during those dark years. They even had their representatives at the funeral of the great one. Special thanks to Haiti (will be paying this country a visit soon in the spring cool), Tanzania, Zambia, Ivory coast and Gabon cool. May they continue to prosper, AMEN!
All Tanzanians, South Africans, gabonese and Cote d'Ivoriens i've met never cease to describe the Ibos in their countries with pure disgust. surprise surprise!!
"representatives" indeed.
