FamilyRe: How Often Should Married Couples Get Intimate? by cfours: 2:19am On Mar 03, 2012
garnetty: i have come to terms with the fact that intimacy every now and then ultimately erodes the passion traditionally associated with it. To my mind ( Just my thought), intimacy should not be a 'frequent' thing. In fact, it makes the union more enjoyable and inviting when intimacy (S*X) is 'regulated'.

To me I think once in every two weeks is more ideal; having it on a daily bases will make it loose its "flavours and taste"

PoliticsRe: Why We Can’t Build Refinery In Nigeria-shell by cfours: 1:49am On Mar 03, 2012
don't we realize that a refinery would have been built long ago if Shell wanted it built?
of course it's not profitable for Shell so they won't build it. Nothing good for Nigeria is every profitable for Shell.

It's up to the Nigerian govt to find a way to build one.
why must Shell always make national decisions for us

If a person like George Clooney is always in the limelight it makes sense for his partner to be accustomed to that.

If it's his desire to have a trophy wife, then so be it. But you can't deny that models in general have attractive physical features which feature highly in a man's selection of a mate.

Because models are seen as the best - the top of the pile, the cream of beauty, the most attractive women. It is every man's desire to have the best. If you have money to buy the best in terms of cars, houses, etc, why should you settle for less in a partner or a spouse?
we have the same point.
just your cuckoo-cretin friend seems to have a problem with women wanting the best (ie. a wealthy man).
in his world, only men are entitled to the best
FamilyRe: The Nuclear Family by cfours: 12:28am On Mar 01, 2012
debrief08:
Well my dear, this is my second marriage. I was in an abusive marriage. I left feeling worthless, and I had been told and was prepared to spend a single "life of misery" and probably die alone, cos i was told in Nigeria no one will want a divorcee, so forgive me for being chessy. And forgive me for appreciating how great I have it after almost being killed by a man who was supposed to love me.
I love my so but love my husband more unapololigetically.
i'm really sorry I didn't know this about you.
I'm glad you are out of that marriage and in a more fulfilling one.

I just was looking at my parents marriage and can't seem to understand why a wife will hold her husband in such an almost 'saviour like' esteem. but I understand your perspective now. I hope you are healing well and pray you regain your full self-esteem speedily.
FamilyRe: The Nuclear Family by cfours: 12:12am On Mar 01, 2012
Also, the child you unconditionally love would not have been around without that father. That child will leave you and start a life with someone else . .and the original question will arise again.
romantic love and familial love for a child are quite different.
the former is selfish and depends on reciprocity (ex. I love you as long as you treat me well) whereas the latter is selfless and unconditional (ex. I love you no matter what).

of course it's ideal to try to love your spouse selflessly but this takes A LOT of work. on the other hand, it comes very easily and effortlessly to love your child that way. good husbands make it very easy to love of course as we can see from the testimony of many women here

I do not support sex before marriage. but come on it's not rocket science. you don't need to have sex to see an erection on a guy.

FamilyRe: The Nuclear Family by cfours: 3:16am On Feb 29, 2012
@topic, i'm not married yet but I know I will love my children more.
love for a child is pure, selfish and unconditional. I think fathers should be able to love their children that way as well.

whereas loving a husband is very conditional. many women on this thread have proved it by saying they will pick their husband because he is "good to them"
what in the world!! is it that rare for you to find a husband or person who is good to you?  some posts are just straight cheesy: "someone who made me feel beautiful when I believe I was worthless" etc. what can I say. lol

for me, I know I will love my child whether he/she is good or bad, ugly or beautiful, lazy or hardworking, dumb or intelligent, mean or nice etc. but I know I will never love a husband like that.  so I doubt I will ever leave or drop my children for my husband.

They know how to deal with the media attention - that's the point I was making. A 'nobody' or 'normal woman' might struggle with that.
how do you mean by "deal with the media attention"
unless you mean "show her off for media attention" which is the same as being a 'trophy wife'
besides, only a tiny fraction of millionaires have any need to interact with the media anyway. But they still disproportionately tend to go for models for a reason.
FamilyRe: Is Marriage Worth It For Guys? by cfours: 12:13am On Feb 29, 2012

ThiefOfHearts:
On NL that's not true. See how moremi is ignoring richy. You think if it were a female member he wouldnt have thrown insults upon insults? The way it works on NL is when the guys argue, they will at most say a few words then ignore one another, if say na them vs a woman, be prepared to see pages upon pages of misogynistic abuses coming from them. Cant fight against their own, why not take that frustration out on the "weaker sex"

That is the cliff notes of Nairaland in a nutshell.
this is the truth.
. . .except that women are NOT the "weaker sex." we let them know that.  wink

99% of our politicians are corrupt. whether igbo, hausa or yoruba.
The horrible thing is the nigerian mentality of "I want a piece of the cake"
Trust the people that are complaining, only a few are sincere in their love for the country. Most are just bitter because they want to partake in destroying the country further.
FamilyRe: My Husband Does Not Want Me To Work by cfours: 2:07am On Feb 28, 2012
I personally won't mind staying home to care for kids. But I also won't want a husband who is domineering and controlling like yours is.

in your case, you want to work and feel miserable staying at home.  What's the point of staying home to "rest" when all it's going to make you feel is miserable! You could try working a part-time schedule otherwise, maybe have a relative stay with you to help in caring for the child.
