RETURN FULL AUTONOMOUS POLICING RESOURCING AND ELECTIONEERING STATUSES TO OUR 36 CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITIES AND LET THEM COLLECT VATS ON TRADING BUSINESSES IN THEIR RESPECTIVE STATES.
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS A THIEF COLLECTING TAXES ON STATES.

VAT is in the exclusive list. About 95% nations run VAT in exclusive list.

It's not really easy for states to collect VAT as you have hundreds of businesses running in several states.

For example which state will collect VAT for businesses such as MTN, Nigeria brewery that has about 7major plans in different states, FMN, Dstv, NBC?

We need to start asking government what they are doing with all these taxes and tariffs. The looting is too much and they do not care. The country is seriously bleeding. Its unfortunate that more suffering is coming to the masses to enable them lot more.
Politics / What Happened To Vision 2020? by Chachamiliano: 9:13pm On May 01
While growing up as a kid in the 1990s, a lot was talked about the millennium development goal. Millennium came and passed no post talk more of goals.

Y2k, as we called it then, came in 1999, Nigeria transitioned from a military government to a civilian government. One thing I clearly remembered was VISION 2020 promise.

We were promised constant electricity by 2020, a working refinery, we were promised a better road network, a strong economy, a better health care system, in fact, I so muched belived in this vision.

Here we are in 2024. The vision has changed. What happened to Vision 2020? What changed?
Politics / Re: Nigeria’s VAT Collection, Lowest In Africa – Tajudeen Abbas by Chachamiliano: 5:13pm On May 01
They have certainly perfected the plans.

From the manufacturing end, the government is proposing a 30% increase but we all know how it's will end. The bargaining will start and then close at somewhere 12.5% to 15%.

This is one major reason why some companies didn't reduce prices while the dollar was coming down.
Politics / Re: FG Summons Dangote, BUA Over Rising Cost Of Cement by Chachamiliano: 4:32pm On Feb 17
When BUA announced price reduction, People were happy. I laughed. The reality is that till the naira stables, they will keep adjusting price to meet current realities

This is a lie. People keep large amounts of money in their houses all the time.

Mention one you know. Norway, China, Denmark etc. have 90% abolish cash transactions. Go virtual currency or go broke.

codemaniacs:

When someone is stating facts commend them..

PepeXKermit is right..

Floyd Mayweather has stacks of dollars in his house so that means in advanced countries anyone can have huge amount of cash with them...

Keeping cash at home means the money is easily accessible and you don't have to fill forms to withdraw your own money and you don't want to hear story when you want to withdraw your money.

Last year when they introduced new naira notes and didn't print enough for circulation the banks stopped people from withdrawing their own naira and put a limit of 10,000 naira withdrawal per day. Imagine you need to pay someone cash of 70k naira but you can only withdraw 10k..

If the guy puts $51k in the bank he would only be allowed to withdraw $10k per day and that's if the bank has up to $10k because the bank can tell him there's no dollars meanwhile he deposited $51k the previous day.

Okay. Let's face fact then. Flody stacked cash at home at what year 2024? And if I go by this logic, tell me how many American start cash at home?

Do you know how advance society works now? Countries are doing away with paper monies and are going virtual and here we are praising someone for stacking 51k at home.

I asked some questions, you didn't even answer one rather you said he is stating cash. Apart from the one advantages you have stated, tell me other advantage of stacking cash at home. Do you even know the motive why he is stacking such cash at home?

Money is held by 3 component, individual, firm and government and none of this has the liberty to hoard it.

I keep reading how the money will lost value if he saves it in the bank. I will be the last person to save my money in the bank. The highest amount you will see in my account is 20k. What happens to him trading, investing in both local or foreign currency? What happens to him opening a dollar account? Oh I forgot its will depreciate. Do we trade with dollar or Naira in Nigeria?

Whistle-blower is what grows a society. Let me give an example. Recently Ibadan experienced a bomb blast in one of her finest estates. As a result of miners stocking up granada at residential apartment. Offcourse, the residence will not claim ignorance but they decided to act like its doesn't concern us. If the man is so rich, he should go qns stack money in Seychelles and see what happens to him not to talk of more advance and Sophisticated countries

The society has gone pass the stage of Pablo escobar.
Crime / Re: Househelp Arrested For Stealing Employer’s $51,000 After 3 Days Of Employment by Chachamiliano: 9:53am On Feb 17
PepeXKermit:

Whwt do you mean by hoarding? Is this money in anyway related to the relief fund that the government needs to ease the scarcity of dollar in nogeria? Going by your logic, if you have 10k dollars at home, as a private citizen its a problem because you are hoarding it from circulation? What if i dont want to use my money now? Whwt if i have plans for it in the future and not now? Why should i convert the money and keep it in the bank till when i want to use it when the value of naira keeps depreciating daily? So i convert 51k dollars, to naira, which is somewhere in the range of 100m, keep it in the bank for 2months until when i want to use it, then its purchasing power shrinks and i have to pay more money to achieve my goals because i love nigeria so much and i want what is best for it by keeping my money in naira so that nigeria can be good? These pockets of individuals are not the problem, nigeria is sinking from the top and you all are attacking private people.. i can tell you are yoruba from this reasoning. continue. Furcking continie!!!!

From the typing I can deduce a little. Now let me make my point clearer. First, I am not a Yoruba man, I did not marry a Yoruba lady, so do not go the tribal route. This is simple economics.
1. What is the man's source of income? Do you even go the route of a business man. And even if he is one, What kind of business is he into?
2. Why do you think in advance countries and currently even in some African countries you cannot stack huge cash at home? Why
3. Why do you think money is called currency? and not any other name?
4. Who keeps money in the bank, when there are lost of investments he can embark on such as mutual funds, treasury bills, foreign share purchase etc. The funny thing is that he can even withdraw his money at anytime.

Do you think if he was in an advance country or even in some countries here in Africa, he will stack such cash at home?

Your last statement made me laugh. The scenario is like saying a convoy of government parastatals evaded traffic by taking one way and call them the problem. But at a traffic light junction, You saw RED light and decided to beat traffic because their is no official to impound your vehicle. Till Nigeria become disciple and start asking fundamental questions both from government and individuals the country will never change.

nairalanda1:

Thanks, but they have to charge cost reflective tarrif so that they can earn the profit to pay for both of the two.

Back when GSM came to Nigeria, it was so expensive, and service was so bad. If you think it is bad now, back then, one could not call between networks, one always got wrong numbers, and forget about browsing, it was non-existent then. And they were charging heavily. Phones too cost the earth then.

But the GSM companies used the profit they made to pay for improvements and attract investment. By 2005, we had better service, and a few years later, home internet.

The discos never had that advantage. As a result, no profit to fix things at all. Add the fact many do not pay for power at all, and you see the palaver.

I quit understand your point, but let me point out something. Y2k triggered a shift in ICT. The year 2000 millennium year was highly anticipated and I could remember the euphoria that came with it. I will never forget when 1999 was handing over to 2000. That year also saw huge shift for Nigeria music and movies. When GSM came into Nigeria, that was the year technology started dominating. I got my first sim in 2003 for 4,600 and first phone Sagem myX2 at 14,000naira. MTN and Econet started with per minute charging till Glo changed the charging to per seconds. At that phase, they were experimenting till better technologies were introduced.

No private company will use her profit to pay subsidy for citizens. If you cannot subscribe to it, you are cut off. No time
Previous for telephone companies, call was generating highest revenue followed by SMS & Data, now It is Data- call and SMS. what has happened? Technology has advance. The truth is that government is a bad business man and Nigerian case is the worst.

Let's not always take their excuses. I bet you, very soon water corporation will come out and tell us the reason why we are not having water is because the government is paying subsidy.
Crime / Re: Househelp Arrested For Stealing Employer’s $51,000 After 3 Days Of Employment by Chachamiliano: 9:22am On Feb 17
This is just a fraction of Nigerian problem. There is an interior motive of hoarding such huge cash in this economy. Imagine if the amount has been thrown back into the economy.

They even have mind to report and police did not quiz them? Naija my country
Politics / Re: FG Can’t Continue To Subsidise Electricity — Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu by Chachamiliano: 5:07pm On Feb 15
nairalanda1:

True, but at the end, the tarrif is not cost reflective, as in other african countries.

I understand you sir. But they should give us

1. Light
2. Prepaid meter
Then they can charge the rate that is reflective with the cost of power they supply
Politics / Re: FG Can’t Continue To Subsidise Electricity — Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu by Chachamiliano: 3:48pm On Feb 15
nairalanda1:

It is not a matter of pre-paid meter, it is a matter of bills not being cost reflective....and a matter that a lot of customers do not pay their bills.

Power costs between N50-71 per kwh. The cost of producing that power is above N80 per kwh. Countries who have 24/7 power like Ivory coast have charges as high as N180 per kwh for power in households. And most people pay over there.

How is it not a matter of prepaid meter, what process have the government put to checkmate people not paying sir?

If for example, in my area I have 24 power supply reading on a prepaid meter, the government do not need to bother themselves if I pay or not because the meter will do the needful whenever i exhaust my money. MTN or DStv cannot complain that subscribers are not paying will they?
Politics / Re: FG Can’t Continue To Subsidise Electricity — Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu by Chachamiliano: 8:18am On Feb 15
Some Nigerian enjoy suffering or rather wants other Nigerian to continue to suffer due to the peanuts they enjoy from the administration in power.

Let's always remember Thomas Hobbes quote

They will now come and say that you are an APC apologist, and a tinubu supporter.

The painful thing on Nairaland is that most Nairalanders don't want to hear your message. They are in pain from the economic hardship, and anything that means increases in prices, even if it means economic benefits in the long run, is anathema to them

But the truth is, we have been paying subsidsied power prices for years, and we have bad power. We don't get the message and blame 'corruption and bad government'. Well, the bad government started with them forcing subsidsied prices on the power sector.

Even the argument on african countries paying cost reflective tarrifs, dem go tell you it is because they have smaller population. grin.

What stops them from issuing out pre paid meter? What stops them from increasing our power generations? Must be read from the scripts written for him?

Will the minister says he doesn't enjoy power supply 24/7? He is more Nigerian than you and I?

I stopped taking him serious when he blocked the road at Molete last 3 weeks or so just to re-welcome him back to Apc.

Watch how all these losers ( bcs there's nothing like best loser ) become monsters to their opponents in the competition.

The worst thing in life is to pick up a fight against a loser, the man that's down they say, "fears no fall".

Senegal won just one match in the group stage of afcon 2021 and they went on to be the champions. If not for that dubious penalty awarded by the ref to them that enable them to win their last group match and scored their only goal in the group stage, they wouldn't have qualified for the next stage.

Sometimes your form in the group stage of this kind of competition means nothing.

The end justifies the means !!!

You are 💯 correct. In 2021, we won all our 3 games, we conceded on 1 goal and we thought we will win. Only for us to be bundled out by Tunisia that managed to qualify as one of the best 4 losers.

You could not have said it any better. Some people feel to understand that economy is not about ibo, yoruba or hausa. It is about survival.

I wonder what will happen if we all demand accountability from our leaders. The system has breed a very bad and toxic working environment.

Continue with your 70k job. Insurance is still very difficult to sell in the part of the world. If its had been FMCG, I would have advised you take it. but INSURANCE job, do not think of it. They are not certain or guaranteed of their monthly income and that is why they said no salary.

You cannot look into a man's eyes and call him an idiot,a fool etc, even as I type she is ranting on me,I wish I could record her voice and send it here.

Whatsoever you do, do not die. Kindly make an arrangement and leave the house without telling her. Drop enough money for her to take care of the kids.

Book hotel for 3 days and do not tell her your wherabout. Do not pick her call. Let her feel your wrath. She has grown balls and she will continue ranting and calling you names till you do otherwise.

Leave church matter here. We are talking about life and death. Trust me sir, you need to put your wife in her place once and for all. Never ever hit her cos if you do, you will continue doing it till its leads to something bad.

Sometimes, you can deny her money and let her know you are not interested in her food and sex again. Reach a gentle man agreement with her of staying in the house as co-tenant.

Do not sleep in the room with her again. If she makes the house uncomfortable, please park out for her.
