Nonsense. Gone are d days when these old fools scare person with curses and fear of d future. D ancestors I'll not do anything if people see d pastor as dier preferred candidate. Where were d ancestors all these yrs when things weren't as they should in Benin. That's d word of a representative of d old order. Democracy and people's choice should be respected. |
Soludo is one of d foremost Nigerian economists of all time. In all his callings and advises, he has his statistics. It's not about tribe. Gmb should quickly include him in his economic team. Fiscal federalism is d way. |
Nigerians indeed are in love with adventure. I greatly cherish that. One should not get stuck in one place in a lifetime. Please gurus, the way I see people talk about getting employment with degrees in engineering and medical courses scares me. I m now wondering whether a masters in social science, international relations precisely could land man any job because currently am weighing going to either Germany, Canada or Norway for masters. I did history and international relations in my undergraduate. Please folks, are there scholarships for a course like this in d aforementioned countries or is there any more lucrative related one u think I should delve into? |
I I'll advice u to quickly initiate a PhD program in new Zealand, Germany or Australia. In these places, u can secure funding and u I may end up becoming a citizen. Tru Dat way, u can recoup d money u spent in UK. Not time wasting in Nigeria of now in d name of looking for jobs.. |
From wat I v read and heard, I think spending lots of money in UK only to come back to Nigeria and start looking for job is foolhardy. I remember during my NYSC,I v friends that grad from UK and came back to serve. Majority of them v not gotten any job in Lagos now and some are planning on a move to not so popular European countries for continuation of life. D worst is Dat UK hardly give scholarships. The op is correct in wat he is saying. Now folks, can someone with a good grade in Nigeria apply for d Canadian express entry visa. Or are there small countries where one can get MSc scholarship with a cgpa of 4.49 and a good ielts score. I don't mind even if I study in Malta. All I want is to get a blend of international experience and move to better countries. |
This thread is indeed insightful. God bless u all for contributing. Please am done with my undergraduate and NYSC and am considering pursuing a masters study abroad. But my problem is finance. Is there any European country that I can easily get a masters scholarship in international relations or political science with a cgpa of 4.49? I I'll really fancy Austria, Denmark or Switzerland. But as it is now, anywhere that can favour man in terms of funding is OK. Am presently preparing for ielts. Also please can I get funding in Canada if I do well in ielts. Someone told me scholarships in Canada mostly favour first class grads and science students. But d last two years of my undergraduate transcript are above 4.45.please folks I need una advice as am kinda sick of ds country. |
@bostin, tnks for your contributions to ds thread . Mentioned one should check Europe for full funding. Please can one still get that even if it's tuition waiver in Denmark with a cgpa of 4.49? |
I I'll advice u to go for your masters abroad now be it in Canada or USA. I know it may not be rosy out there, but it's always gud to v a blend of international experience. Since u v a first class, work towards securing a scholarship in any of those countries. If that did not work, consider applying for a masters in Norway that is free tuition. U I'll now use that money u would v paid to open a Norwegian blocked acc. I know Norway is an oil country and there are lots of oil companies where u can intern or work. Even if u come back and your place of work reject u(which is impossible), u can now enroll for a PhD in Canada, USA, or Australia easily. Studying abroad is a nice idea at a point in one's life no matter d uncertainty. |
This no doubt is one of d worst Era in our existence as a nation. Imagine! They offered to send economic experts to help us manage and get d economy back. Does it mean we don't v sound economic team? I remember we v notable economic gurus making waves worldwide including those that v served before. Can't dey be consulted and an economic conference convened so Dat experts can brainstorm just like Soyinka advised? Honestly there is too much confusion. If this country can no longer exist as one and things function well for all, then we should follow d path of true federalism or eventual break up. It's not about being tribalistic but about d happiness and better living of people in an entity in a lifetime. |
Gud. If this I'll turn things around, d leadership of d legislator should give gmb an ear. There are some extant laws in our Constitution that are laddened with unnecessary bureaucracy. The idea that some govt properties I'll be sold or leased is a nice move at this time. I know there I'll be some kind of extortion but it I'll eventually attract investors and create jobs. Investors need to mk profit n people need to be employed as well. D govt should as well engage in more bilateral education agreement with many other countries so that ideas can be quickly diffused more. We need outsiders to come in more. Later we can nationalize. |
Tnks @9jacrips for responding. Not that I hate history but to me it's kind of an old course no longer needed in the contemporary Era. and besides, I see people who read history only end up in classroom tins while d privileged find demselves in govt. U wish to leave pcs and go back to history? Lol. What do u mean by HBCUs? Is like say if one decides to carry on with masters and phd in say igbo cultural history, can one be retained as a lecturer there in d States? Are u in USA now and does history and international relations v internship be it at masters or phd level? I know USA is home for diplomacy and international relation studies, but it's kinda expensive to study there now. That's y I prefer Europe for masters and den phd in USA by God's grace. |
When I'll these girls learn that they lead men to sin. All is vanity. One should think of life after. |
This is good. Please can someone who want to study international development apply? Or is it for science students alone? I am a graduate of international studies and history but I I'll like to do masters in international development. Wat chance do I stand with a cgpa of 4.49 and a good ielts score if I take it? I I'll be looking forward to applying for Jan 2017 intake. |
This is a big lesson. Brethren, whenever u find yourself in riches, try to locate your family members including those that are not all that related and then outside people. If possible get them established abroad. It is equally fantastic to identify outsiders who are Zealous to succeed legitimately and help them. Y I said this is because in our society, u find a rich man buy if u you see someone they said is related to him, u I'll be surprised at his condition. They simply don't want to help. Not that they don't know wat to do but simply they see not helping u as a way to retain your respect for dem. It's only when when tins turn bad Dat they I'll be saying to demselves had I know, I wld v done ds and Dat. Imaging someone of Emeka offor calibre not being able to fix his siblings at least in his companies. They were just living with only d glory of being related to him. It pains me bcs I am a victim of ds scenario. Anyway may God help us all achieve our life goals. |
It's an unfortunate thing. Not only dem, d recent case of Nigeria Olympic team in Brazil shows d level of unseriousness of our govt. Anyway, I suggest dey should look for part time Jobs over there even if it's manual job as long as their visa permits Dat. |
@9jacrip, tnks for your insightful response . well, I didn't grad with a first class and I v no publication. From ur response, I feel it I'll be right to go for masters in pcs. I hate d fact that d undergrad prog contain too many history courses. But dats by D way. Please do u feel it's easy to get like funding in pcs with d right documents n cgpa of 4.49 internationally. I am handicapped in terms of finances but I prefer it abroad for internship purposes which I'll give one practical knowledge. |
OK @nevilbot. Of course if I am opportuned to be in Germany, I I'll learn the language at least to a point of every day conversation. Please d scholarship for living expenses, in which school can one search for it? Am extending my search to Germany alongside Estonia. But the block account is my huddle. Like how much can one expect to mk from part time job in Germany?which city and school are you in and does Germany permit easy transition from study to eventual settlement? I seriously wish I made to Dat side like u guys. Imagine finishing well in Nigeria but no job. At least if there is job here, one can hope to save up for d block acc. But it sucks. Let's say if I do ielts, together with a gud sop and cgpa of 4.49, can one stand a gud chance for full study grant over there? I appreciate ur responses all through. |
Hello gurus. I admire d wonderful discussion going on here. Please am in d dark over wat to do. I v graduated from the University with a degree in international studies and history. Now I want to know if it I'll be possible for me to go into direct phd in any foreign university. Already, it's my grand plan to get an MBA and reside in overseas for a no of years bf coming back, but I intend to do PhD and save money along the line. Now, please from among d following areas of interest- international relations, international development, peace and conflict studies, refugee studies, diplomacy and governance, which do you think is more relevant and broader in scope and in tandem with current realities? I I'll appreciate your response. |
@nevilbot, gud to know u v been in Germany for a while. How's life in Germany? Are you studying and if do they give scholarships that covers d living expenses? @lostcity, chineke ga emezi okwu nwanne. You must v been lucky to be in Estonia. Please is it like if u are in Estonia, u can study for one year and move to let's say Germany or Norway for d second year. Can one through making little cash there fund his way to ausie, or Canada. I understand there's no short cut to success, but one gats find Way to leave ds hell called naija. @striker 9, thanks for responding all along. Please wats d nature of d scholarship and can one secure like full tuition waiver? |
@striker 9, about a million naira. Please do you have a clue of d kind part time job in Estonia and d black job in Germany. |
@striker 9, 4k per hour, that's poor somehow but better than naija current experiences. The one in Germany, is it wat one can do during holidays while in Estonia or if u school n reside in Germany? Still interested in d kind scholarship one can get in Europe though. Can we talk off nairaland? |

@striker 9, thanks for replying. Please like how much do you think one can be making per hour during school time and holiday periods? Is it possible that one can go to any big country and work full time during holidays? Concerning d ielts, I I'll work on it to see if one can get a gud score. Now let's say one gets a high score, a gud cgpa and a gud sop, how feasible u think is scholarship in any of those big countries. @lostcity, lol. U mean one can't corner 5k from Estonia under a yr. Anyway at all nah him fine pass. |
@striker 9, thanks for replying. I v gone through Estonia and v found one tallin university which offers international relations. Still trying to see if it's tuition free. But they need ielts. Please is it like if I come to Estonia and stay for one year, can I get tuition for to complete the masters for the second year in let's say Canada, Germany or Australia? I mean can I raise like 10000 euros from part time work in Estonia under one year? Gurus please I need una help as I was die for this country naija. |
Hello gurus. U all v been helpful indeed. Please I v been searching through nairaland on how to get cheap schools in Europe and scholarship for my masters. But all I v been seeing about UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and Switzerland scares me in terms of finance. My question is, how possible is it for me to get a good masters funding in Estonia with a cgpa of 4.49 in international studies and history? Can one school in Estonia for one year and then transfer to another European country to finish up and stay behind? Please when I'll the application period for Jan intake begin. I v gathered all my documents including English proficiency letter. Now trying to register for ielts by August. Please I need ur response on wat to do. I am sick of this very country and really want to open a new chapter abroad. |
@taeewo, I no understand oo. Can u clarify. |
I think I I'll be interested in sgh Warsaw. Seems it's one of the prestigious university in Poland. But don't know if my background in international studies I'll qualify me in their program. Gurus in the house, I need una input. @bakeiro, please wats your background and v u checked whether the school gives scholarship?. We can research it further. |
A good one. Dear baba God, reason my matter father. I know my testimony is underway. |
@williamso, thanks for your contributions to this thread. Please can u drop like the schools that are among the tu9.i asked because I feel school reputation I'll be an added plus especially if one intends to stay back in Germany and look for professional job though am not relying solely on school rep. |
@msnd, I v never been to Europe before. But from my search online while looking for international relations masters in jagiellonian university in Krakow, Krakow and Warsaw seems to be the most multicultural cities in Poland where u won't have problems in terms of Language . there are chances of securing part time work in Krakow and Warsaw though work is somehow difficult in Poland. In terms of cost of living, Krakow is cheaper. At with 350 zloty, u can survive per month. |
At this stage, let's try a foreign coach especially now that we have more players in many foreign countries though some play in not that popular leagues. A foreign coach I'll now command respect from the nff and their mess, galvanize foreign and few local players and do a thorough scouting. If a foreign coach fails, we I'll then make our normal u-turn to local coach and then begin to look foreign one again after. |
