adajiboyy:I wish it was just straight forward as you put it. Getting back to at least 30% of the fitness level I had then would take a whole lot. The current economic realities in the country is not helping matters at all. There are so many talents wasting in this country, not just in football. The odds are just against them. So many players are making it outside this country because they were either fortunate to be born there or had relatives who took them there. I have a friend who is so good on and off the ball. He plays as a central or an attacking midfielder. His first touch is out of this world. He makes the game look so pleasing to the eyes. If you watch him play you would think he plays for Barcelona. Sadly, with all his abilities, he can't go far because he has not come in contact with that person who would give him that opportunity. |
adajiboyy:I played as a central and holding midfielder. I could mark and cover a lot of distance like Ngolo Kante. I could pass and tackle so well without committing a foul. I have a very good positional sense to read an opponent's pass, intercept it and snuff out the danger. These attributes made me slot into central defence easily. There was a guy I faced in training then who was taller and more physical than I was. After the training, he walked up to me and asked me if took Cocaine before I came to train that morning. |
adajiboyy:Hey brother, we are in the same boat. I played football then for fun. I never knew something could come up until an Agent came to watch us play on a Saturday morning. I was lucky to be among the 8 players selected that day. He asked us if we had our International Passport. Only one guy then had it. He told us to come with any of our Parents or Guardian the following Monday. I came with my elder brother. My parents couldn't take that risk to allow me go because I was still very young then. It became more difficult because I gained admission into the University that same week. Do I regret not playing football professionally? It goes both ways because the pendulum could have swung either in my favour or against me. By the way, what was your position? |
It is one thing to get married early. It is a different thing entirely for one to get married early and is unable to provide for his family. As a man, I want to be extremely comfortable before I even think of marriage. I don't need to be worried about my children's school fees even if they tell me they would be resuming for a new term the next day. I don't need to be worried if my nephews, nieces and my children's friends want to spend their holidays in my house. I don't need to be worried if my wife and children want to visit my parents or hers. I don't need to be worried even if my parents, siblings or friends visit me unannounced. What about children on the streets who had lost their parents or their parents are not able able to train them? Do you know that if every financially stable person is able to train one child at least to be able to stand on his or her own, the level of poverty and crime will reduce? If anybody tells you to get married early, would that person be there for you financially if you have problems later in the marriage? Your guess is as good as mine. |

bujebudanu1:Hello brother, Adamawa State is not a bad place to serve in. Based on Google map, it is 20 hours from Lagos State by road. The NYSC camp is in Girei Local Government Area and it is about 30 minutes from the capital, Yola. Camp is fun depending on what fun is to you. You will meet people from various backgrounds. Just conduct yourself properly and enjoy your stay in camp for these 3 weeks. Any other information you need will be responded to as soon as possible. I am expecting you and every other corps members very soon in Adamawa State. Good luck! |
Ablyz:Your score is low for an Engineering course. I would suggest you look at changing to a State University, preferably the one in your state. Of course you know that state universities are more expensive than federal universities. You need to research on the ones that are not that competitive to get into and go for them. Rivers State University, formerly called Rivers State University Of Science And Technology (RSUST) is not that competitive to get into. I know someone who gained admission into the school in the 2015/2016 academic session to study Mechanical Engineering with a UTME score of 192 and a Post UTME score of 40%. Their cut-off is gotten by dividing UTME score by 8, then Post UTME score is divided by 2. The two scores are added to arrive at the cut-off point and candidates would be admitted once they reach the expected cut-off mark regardless of their state of origin. Example: UTME: 192/8=24 Post UTME: 40%/2=20 UTME+Post UTME: 24+20=44 However, the person in question could not resume studies with the school due to financial challenges. If finance is not your problem, then you can go ahead and change to Rivers State University. Good luck. |
Gerrard59:The good thing is that you understand the language. Speaking it wouldn't be that difficult for you. It seems you are a researcher at Jarushub? I read many of your write-ups and that of Jarus. They are very interesting I must say. Thumbs up. |

Yezzy:1. How long does it take to become a highly skilled truck mechanic (e.g Mack)? 2. How much does the training cost? 3. Company or local workshop? Where would you prefer an aspiring truck mechanic to be trained at. What are your reasons please? 4. What is the market like for truck mechanics? 5. What are the top 10 states in Nigeria for trucking business? 6. What advice or suggestions do you have for a truck mechanic who trained in a particular state and decides to relocate to another state? |
Yezzy:Hello Can we discuss here? Others can learn from it. |
Yezzy:Hello! You are yet to respond to my previous questions. |

NENigeria:Hey, brother! Please come and give us all the information on Adamawa state here: https://www.nairaland.com/4181135/2017-batch-b-prospective-corps#62480099 |

Chuksmonika:Oh! Man, thank you so much. May God bless you. Where have you been posted to? For guys who play football, please come with your playing kits as well. We have to make that camp very lively. |
haywhyze:Sadly, I am not on WhatsApp. I am on facebook though. You can use the MTN line on my signature and find me on facebook. The number is unreachable for now until I retrieve the line tomorrow or on Monday. However, I can be reached through my airtel line as well. |
charlieLegend:You are very much welcome to my state. Akwa Ibom is a very peaceful state and her people are very hospitable. You will not have problems with food as there are very good restaurants and eateries here if you are the type who eats out. Some of our cuisines are but not limited to the following: Afang, Melon, Afere nkong (Vegetable soup), Bitterleaf, Afia efere (White soup), Editan, etc. In terms of transportation, it is relatively affordable. These are the types of vehicles in use: Bus, taxi, tricycle (fondly called Keke Napep), motorcyle (mostly used in the inner parts of the cities and villages). If you board a tricycle, some short distances go for N30 if you bargain with the driver. If it is farther, then it is N50. Distances farther than that charged at N50 could go for N70 or N100. With regards to accommodation, it is relatively afforable and definitely cheaper than the three biggest cities in Nigeria (Abuja, Rivers, Lagos). Self-contained appartments could go for about N80,000 - N150,000 per annum depending on the area, facilities, etc. Being that you are a hausa man, you will feel at home since we have so many Hausas in this state. We patronise them since they sell meats (Suya) in the evenings, very good cobblers, etc. Some of them operate some kiosks by preparing indomie and eggs for sale. The details above are for the state capital (Uyo) since I am based there. Popular places in Uyo are: International stadium, University of Uyo, Ibom Plaza, Ibom E-library, Ibom Tropicana, Akpan Andem market, etc. Nearby places to Uyo are: Ibesikpo, Itu, Uruan, Abak. The most popular Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom are: Uyo, Eket, Ikot Ekpene, etc. Once again, you are welcome to Akwa "Abasi" Ibom state, the land of promise. ![]() |
haywhyze:Hey! Brother, you don't need to be devastated. I have been posted to Adamawa state as well. We can create opportunities where none existed in this state. I will be leaving for Adamawa state from Akwa Ibom state. By the special grace of God, we will get to camp safely, take part in the various activities in there and serve our fatherland successfully. So, whatever Adamawa state has in store for us, bring it on. I am ready! ![]() |
Yezzy:I'm not on WhatsApp. We could talk on facebook if you don't mind. |
