LiteratureRe: Africa's Leading Writer by champredd(m): 8:44pm On Jun 12, 2007
Achebe is my favourite, followed by Soyinka. I guess the reason why Soyinka won the nobel prize is because he was more political while Achebe is more cultural and try his best to show that Africa is civilised before the white people came.
For instance, the rules follow by the warring villages in Things fall apart. The Europeans like to believe that Africans are barbaric and have no rules or law before they invade the continent.
For me win the nobel prize or not Achebe is best African author I've ever seen, And I expect him to be honoured with the nobel prize very soon.

The problem is not Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Tiv, Ijaw etc it is the fault of a group of people from different parts of the country, despite all the "tribalism cards" being played by them, anybody who can read between the lines will notice that when they are exploiting the general populace they will be silent, it is only when they have been sidelined by their fellow thieves/oligarchs that they will go to their people and stir them up using tribalistic sentiments.

CrimeRe: Nigeria Must Relax Gun Laws by champredd(op): 2:04pm On Jun 07, 2007
Even those armed robbers will be more afraid, although I may admit that even in the US studies have shown that a higher percentage of guns kept in the house are usually used for suicide, accidental shootings by children whose parent do not keep the guns locked in a safe, and most gun owners do not usually have the opportunity of reaching for their guns before the intruder descend on them.
PoliticsRe: Political defintions in OBJ years by champredd(op): 1:57pm On Jun 07, 2007
My assertion is based on OBJ actions throughout his tenure. Although people always criticise his comments and action, but you can always infer what his next step or action through his comments by simply reading between the lines. Except in one instance, the third term bid, he denied it, and continue to deny it till now despite the fact that the process to amend the constitution continue until the Senate put a stop to it.

But overall, I still consider him a republican based on Micheal Moore's definition in his book Stupid white men commenting that choosing between the Republicans and the Democrats is like choosing "between those who say we will Bleep you if you elect us and they will indeed Bleep you (i.e the Republicans) and those who say we will never Bleep you and they will really Bleep you once elected (the Democrats)" he apologised for the language - so do I.

PDP under OBJ is more of a Nigerian "Republican" party. OBJ before the 1979 elections that brought Shagari, was quoted to have said "I dont know who will win this election but I know who will not (i.e Awolowo, his kinsman - who had promised to probe his administration). Before the recent election, he called the second segelection he will be organising a do-or-die election and do-or-die it was indeed.

So my conclusion is OBJ is a Republican par excellence like Mr Bush.

Seun, please do not move this section to the recycle bin, it will be better if you change the title from crime to political crime and create another crime section for those who want to post common crime somewhere else (probably the recycle bin).
CrimeRe: The Official Website Of The 419 University Of Nigeria! by champredd(m): 1:25pm On Jun 07, 2007
The worst news about this in the fact that webometrics (the website that ranks universities worldwide) is having a link to this website on their list of Nigerian universities, so people who visit that site will certainly see it. I don't think it is proper for such website to include the website, it is like promoting it.

Thank you o! The guy was always using helicopters to get to his farm in Otta. Now, I hope he will have to go through that Abule-Egba-Ifako-Alagbado-Otta road to get to his farm. May his tyres get stuck in the pot holes and may his shock absorbers get rattled by the bumps on the way! tongue
You should remember that OBJ still has a lot of money from his recent loot, so he can still afford a personal helicopter, it may even be given to him as a gift from one of his enriched cronies. I only hope it does not crash due to "bad belle"

This is what you get when Seun allows pieces of meat that can type like you or docokwy to roam free spewing their stink while others are banned for things like not having real locations in their profile.
You have no right to call anybody pieces of meat. F*#k off.

laudate:
First, you said Yoruba people do not do self-criticism. Someone pointed out the fact, that they did. Then you claimed it was a 'first.' I gave you more examples to show that it wasn't the first time it had happened, but that it had been consistent, and this pattern had been on for a while. Now you turn round to say those people dishing out the criticism are 'fake'. Na wa o! By what standards do you judge who is 'fake' and who is 'genuine?'  undecided

Oh, so because one journalist messes up, so in your view all journalists cannot be trusted? For your information, Dele Sobowale & Kola Animasaun are columnists. Sobowale is a management consultant who only writes a weekly column for Vanguard, while Animashaun sits on the editorial board, in addition to running his own thriving enterprise.

Alright, since you say those ones are fake, what would you call Femi Falana the respectable Lagos attorney who has been a consistent critic of OBJ several times in the past few years?

Oh, the Yoruba taught Ugwu 'greediness'? Chei! Provide us with proof o! shocked
It is the Yorubas (or probably southerners in general) who self-criticise the most and they back it up with actions against each other. That is why the North has been dominating for a long time - they resolve their qualms internally.
CrimeNigeria Must Relax Gun Laws by champredd(op): 5:34pm On Jun 05, 2007
Concerning the state of Nigerian polity, it will worth the while for the incoming National Assembly to allow more civillians to carry guns around. I guess it will allow people to go and vote without fear of some thugs coming to disrupt their voting, because they too will know that a lot of people will be carrying their guns and eager to shoot anybody who attacks them.

And since the Nigerian military foundry is now said to be working well. That means locally made guns will be available for everybody to buy cheaply plus the government will make a lot of profit. That will help the OBJ "reforms" to continue.

PoliticsRe: Political defintions in OBJ years by champredd(op): 5:04pm On Jun 05, 2007
I just want to add another one:
Sanjopulation: This man know how to manipulate very well. He knows that Yar'Adua will definitely win the election (I'm open to correction) but he opened the manipulatory system of election to the world so that the election will be heavily criticised (for example, by delaying the addition of Atiku's name so that it will affect INEC's functioning). Now his trick will be to be campaigning for Yar'Adua's acceptance worldwide, which he doesn't need actually because we need him to be at home, not be like OBJ becoming a globe trotter.
PoliticsRe: Adolphus Wabara And Fabian Osuji Are Among The Most Corrupt In Obj Govt by champredd(op): 4:43pm On Jun 05, 2007
I don't think this thread should degenerate into tribalistic ranting.
I'm just pointing out that the two men [Adolphus Wabara And Fabian Osuji] are the first top officials to be arrested on charges of corruption.
PoliticsRe: What Has Pdp Abuja Government Done For The Yorubas? by champredd(m): 4:39pm On Jun 05, 2007
AD was voted out in the Southwest due to tyranny, like in Oyo (with Adedoja's sons parading through the streets harassing people), in Ekiti (streetfighting par excellence), in Ogun (Osoba wants to be like OBJ- go for third term), in Osun (Akande sacked public workers, a lot of them dying in distress), only Adefarati of Ondo was given a passmark by most people. In Lagos, Tinubu(just like OBJ) is a mafia boss that is why he has been able to retain control of the state. They are all using AWOLOWO's name to promote their selfish interest.

All of the above Awolowo never engage in them, he build the economy on Agriculture and made the old Western region the most prosperous in Nigeria, that is why the Balewa/Azikiwe coalition decided to take over the Western region from him by force, so as to derail everything he achieved. For example, Cocoa House in Ibadan was the first of its kind in Nigeria, also the WNTV the first in Africa.

Back to the PDP governments in southwest, I think some of them have achieved some level of success above their AD counterpart. In Ogun, Osun and Ondo the level of stability have improved with only Oyo and Ekiti state suffering from OBJ intervention syndrome, in the Ekiti - the declaration of state of emergency and Oyo the thuggery of OBJ hatchet man Adedibu.
PoliticsRe: Which Government Official Performed The Worst Under The Obasanjo Administration? by champredd(m): 4:13pm On Jun 05, 2007
Oby actually did well by tackling one thing, the prevalence of examination malpractices and fraud in Nigerian schools. I wouldn't be surprised if MILITIA is a student who is upset with such an action. I give kudos to Oby.

Dont be an asshole. All this accusations of Hausa and Yoruba people being corrupt under OBJ is sickening and its time to point out that all parts of Naija play a part one way or another.
Another confirmation is the recent loss of the (Not so Super) Eagles. The NFA is corrupt and should be investigated and restructured. NFA is not run by a single person, it is run by a team of corrupt Nigerians from all part of the country.

Niger Republic can never be compared to Nigeria by any standards because we still supply them electricity (despite that we are suffering on the home front) and when they started crying out for help due to hunger many of them run to Naija and FG also assist them with food supply (if you notice it is when our supply reached them that the noise stopped)
PoliticsAdolphus Wabara And Fabian Osuji Are Among The Most Corrupt In Obj Govt by champredd(op): 4:00pm On Jun 03, 2007
That is not disputable, with Osuji a whole Prof. carrying Ghana-must-go bags to distribute bribes. Shame on him. He's really full of shit.

Wabara the senate president also descending so low.

Both men are unsurprisingly Igbos. Igbos are the most corrupt in Nigeria, that should be made clear because they are also the most capitalistic set of people in Nigeria. That is why they go around looking for money rituals. I think it is really God's will that they have not have a real chance to rule Nigeria their govt would be the worst. They still need more training in governance and I hope they will learn soon.

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo's Legacy To Nigeria by champredd(m): 4:27pm On Jun 02, 2007
OBJ's legacy to me is the realignment of political forces in Nigeria. Along ideological and partisan line instead of the usual tribal politics.
