Your course would be of help to you in areas like Manitoba and Saskatchewan due to the massive development that's currently going on there. I'll advice you stay in Canada after your studies. If your course is for a year, you'll like get an extra year visa or a minimum of 8 months. But if it's for 2yrs, you'll get a year and a half extra. If you start working apply for permanent residency.

sure. Canada is a wonderful country. Though if you want to get a job easily please go to Alberta, ewfoundland and Labrador or Saskatchewan. Due to their low population there you can easily get a job unlike Ontario that's over populated.

Thanks.I heard from someone that Ontario is the easiest place to get jobs because of the drop in oil prices. The guy told me that Alberta is badly affected.

Now,I'm coming over for a course in civil engineering. It's been difficult getting masters because my cgpa is at the lower side of second class . I have admission offer for a one year pgd course in construction project management and a two year advanced diploma course in civil engineering. The latter should give me 3 years post graduate work permit,right? And so I will have enough time to work and get my PR without having to return to Nigeria.

What's your opinion on this?/Can I get good job with the advanced diploma in the 2 year civil engineering course? And will I be given 3 year post graduate work permit?

Please help a brother.

Hi guys,I've got a serious issue. I was denied visa last year and the VO said he wasn't sure I had enough money to  pay my tuition and take care of myself without working in Canada. So I thought of handling that issue this way;

My tuition is can$14400
Estimated expenses during the 9 months course is can$7500
Others            $2000
Total in naira is 3.5m.

I have just 3.0m naira though I have a sponsor who has more than 23m in his account. I don't know if the VO will have a problem with a guy of 30+ years having a sponsor. 

My wahala is .....

I have even paid my school fees from this 3m so the money in my account has greatly diminished. Do I print my account and exclude the part where my school fees was withdrawn? That way,I can claim that I have paid my school fees and still have 3m to take care of myself. Will the VO be keen to know from whose account the school fees was paid?

Or do I come out clean and state that the remaining 500k naira will be taken care of by my sponsor who is my cousin? Will the VO  believe that?

I feel Nigerians just tend to have a bias of what title a qualification will add to them MSc, PhD etc without properly analyzing what they want their career paths to be
I have been working here for almost a year in company dealing with lighting and energy I will tell you that most of my bosses graduated in Social Sciences not even from universities (from colleges) ...I think its a matter of what the individual truly wants
Usually people just play safe and not ask themselves the important questions instead follow the Masters bandwagon which MAY not have been the best choice for them...

You are right. I think people need to research where their educational qualifications will lead them to. Research? Work related? Etc. Canada isn't like Nigerian where the bsc holders do technical part of engineering instead of research etc. In Nigeria, polytechnics which produce technicians and technologists are seen as mediocre institutions.

I think the colleges prepare their students better for work purposes while the universities lead you towards research. Another advantage is that the colleges are cheaper than the universities. I stand to be corrected tho. Guys in Canada can shed more light.

I don't think I can give you a satisfactory answer here because only you know why you want to declare your assets. Whatever the reason is, explain it in your SOP or in a short letter or in a financial spreadsheet listing your finances and assets.

Will this financial spreadsheet be sent alongside the SOP to the visa officer ?
