Operatives of Ogun Police Command have arrested three teenagers suspected for highway robbery at Alapako area along Lagos Ibadan expressway.

It was gathered that the suspects – Uzefa Idris (19), Adamu Yakubu (18) and Ayuba Buhari (17), were arrested following a distress call received by the DPO Owode Egba division.

A statement by the Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi on Sunday, said a Mazda bus was reportedly stopped on the highway by a gang of armed robbers, while the occupants are being dispossessed of their belongings. Oyeyemi said following receipt of the distress call, the DPO Owode Egba, Mathew Ediae quickly led his anti-robbery team to the scene.

According to him, the hoodlums on sighting the policemen took to their heels but were chased into the bush where three of them were apprehended. The victims, one Oluwakemi Oyegade who reportedly lost N545,000 and one itel phone to the robbers, and the driver Zacheaus Olaniyi were rescued to the station. “The two victims narrated that the hoodlums jumped on the road from the bush and forcefully stopped the vehicle consequent upon which they started beating them with matchet before dispossessing them of their valuables,” Oyeyemi said. The Police Spokesman said N99,700 and one itel phone were recovered from the suspects. He added that the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the special anti- robbery squads (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution.

Reports revealed that the player has already undergone his medical tests with the Napoli staff on Saturday and the deal is at the final stage of negotiations.

It would be recalled that the player held meeting with Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis last month over the move, but things got complicated in the middle and his agent had to be replaced. The deal is expected to be in the region of €80m and the player will pocket at least €5m annually which will make him one of the highest-paid players at the club.

Meanwhile, L’Equipe had previously reported that English giants Liverpool and Manchester City showed interest in the Super Eagles striker, but he pushed both clubs back because he already gave his word to Napoli’s president.

Napoli officials were reportedly impressed with Osimhen’s shape. According to Germany-based Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba who is close to the striker, an announcement is imminent after the medicals which showed the Nigeria international in top health. “Medicals done @victorosimhen9 is in top health. Everyone in Naples are happy. The club president is smiling from ear to ear. The announcement will happen soon,” Akatuga said on Twitter. This will bring to an end the many complications that threatened to scupper the move. Osimhen visited Naples in June to meet with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis and coach Gennaro Gattuso although it was said that he was not keen on the move after the meeting.

The immediate past National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, and former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, weekend, said Edo State must return to All Progressives Congress, APC, to ensure sustainable development.

Oshiomhole spoke in Auchi, late Saturday night, when he was ambushed by a huge crowd of supporters while on his way to his Iyamho village from Benin City, the state capital.

The crowd had waited for him at the Auchi Polytechnic gate when they got wind of his imminent arrival from Benin City. He had initially refused to stop for the cheering crowd when he arrived Auchi at about 8p.m.

But he was forced to come out of his vehicle, when he saw crowds on both sides of the road and at several junctions.

He told them “I am back and ready for the job.”

Apparently making reference to his removal as National Chairman of APC, which many had could affect the fortunes of the party, Oshiomhole said when he became governor of the state, he was a chairman of anything and had also left as President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC.

According to him, “I wanted to come in at night, so that I can quietly go home and then tomorrow (Monday) we can meet.

“But I am very pleasantly surprised that these thousands of people would wait till this night. I wanted come home quietly, but the very vigilant, ever rugged and respected and resourceful people have waited behind.

“Now God has driven the snake that entered our family home to where he belongs.

“I have come home to join you and start the process of reclaiming the house back to the family of APC. What gives me joy is that, as they say, he with God is majority and if the people say yes and God says yes there is no man born of a woman that can say no.

“When I became governor of this state, I was not the chairman of anything. I have left the presidency of the NLC.

“Now I have only one mission and I am sure it is our common mission; our common vision to bring Edo back to the part of sustainable development.

“We want to bring back the era of red roof; we want to bring back roads with drainages; we want to bring back those lofty days when we engage our youths and we mix-up with the elders. “We want to return to the government of the people by the people and for the people.”
