I haven't gotten mine and a stockbroker said he doesn't think its out because' no one has brought their cerficates for verification with them. Can anyone help out with this info please?
@battleaxe,

@Omoba,
Thanks for the info.
@windywendy,
I enjoyed reading your post. I am reading a book called "Beating the Streets" by Peter Lynch and i read about convertible bonds. I also bought mutual benefits assurance stock and i have not regretted it. However, i didn't know that the convertible bond thing worked in Nigeria.
@Obamedo,
I agree with you, we can sell some if you need the money and leave some to benefit from rights issues, dividends and bonus issues.
@all
I remember about 2 months ago when Nahco was 49 naira and i needed some money to buy something else so i sold off all my holdings in Nahco (i bought it at 19.71) and now, there is going to be a bonus issue of 2 for 3. I can't buy Nahco again cos it is doing about 60 naira now and it is very scarce. The lesson here is that once you are sure that the company is going to do well, just sell off some holdings to recoup your capital and then hold the remaining one incase there is an announcement of a bonus, rights issue or good dividend payout. That way you neither lose your capital nor all your holdings in the company. Pls note that you should always do your homework so that you would know if it would be unwise to still have some shares in the company

@Tmoni,
I don't think we should sell. You know the share certificates just came out and people would have started selling, that is why the price is dropping. I think after a while, the excess shares will be mopped up and it will be a case of scarcity (demand higher than supply) once again.
@everyone
Pls who has noticed mutual benefit assurance and first aluminum?
@Frank
Thanks for the info
BusinessRe: Robert Kiyosaki: His 'Rich Dad' Does 'Not Exist'? by cheexy: 2:34am On Apr 26, 2007
Robert Kiyosaki is one of the best. From Rich Dad Poor Dad to Cash flow quadrant to Guide to investing. All his books are really inspiring and i wouldn't have started thinking the way i do now if not because of him. The books he reffered to are also marvellous. So even if it turns out that the real Robert Kiyosaki is not who he claims to be, it doesn't matter cos in the end, he has affected the lives of many people and to me, that is all that matters.

@diva4eva,
Diamond bank should still be selling on the floor. The fact that the price is on technical suspension doesn't mean that the shares can't be traded on the floor of the nigerian stock exchange.
@egoldman
What is the minimum amount required to open an account with cash craft. I didn't see it on their website and their conditions were too many. Are you allowed to dictate what you want to buy or do they manage your portfolio for you? My cousin is interested in opening an account with them, and she would like to be in charge of her affairs but when i downloaded their form, i didn't like the too many conditions. Give me gist.
@Timoni,
I am not in the position to know whether diamond will do well cos I am not a stockbroker and even if I was, there are many factors that might affect a good company. The bear might set in, election wahala etc. You still have to do the work of reading the finanacial statement. I have not bought stockswatch today cos I have been indoors. When I do, ill feel you in
@battleaxe,
How did you confirm that they have been producing? Do you work there?Pls give us gist
@everyone,
Did you know that NAHCO has declared a bonus issue of 2 for 3? Good news or bad news, you decide.
Pls who has bought Afroil, Japaul oil, Livestock feed and grommac recently? How available are they?

Hi peeps, any idea on why diamond bank shares got suspended.do they intend havin public offer. If so, any idea when that could be?
@diva4eva
They don't plan to do any public offer, the share price was put on technical suspension to allow the management to conclude the plans to create more shares for a foreign investor, Actis Limited to invest about 17 billion naira into the company. Didn't hear of any public offer coming up.

@everyone, for info on any company just go to www.nigerianstockexchange.com, click quoted company and type in the company you want, after that click go, you will find out the company address, basic products, volume of shares traded, last time the stock was traded, web address, E.P.S, P.E etc. It is the official website of the nigerian stock exchange but the website is down at times.
@K2
From what i have gathered, stockswatch is not abroad. It only ciculates in Nigeria
@everyone
Did you know that few months after the financial reports saga of renowned Cadbury Nigeria plc, the company has stopped production in its Lagos plant. Information gathered revealed that the various production lines of the company have been idle in the last one month as no production has been authorized by management.

lokwe:
@ cheexy
please what is EPS and what is the significance of the EPS to the share price value of a stock?
peace
@lokwe
E.P.S means earning per share which is the amount of money your investment is making per share. If the earning per share of a company is high and the share price is really low, there is a high probability that it is underpriced and if there is a bullish run, it would wake up sooner or later. For all info on the stock market, pls go to stockmarketnigeria.com, register and download the free ebook. A beginner's guide to investing in the stock market. It is free and will give you the basic gist you need.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 11:32pm On Apr 18, 2007
@k2
I just love the stock because they are grossly underpriced at 1.87 and their EPS 0.17,  which is much higher than the EPS of companies such as PHB which sells at about 5 naira but its E.P.S is 0.12. I really think it is a growth stock that is going to wake up soon. They are into a lot of things. It is just very scarce. Too damn scarce. Only 825 units were traded today. 825 units!!!! shocked
@Loads
Did you get the money? You can sue the company once it was not stated in the account opening form that you have given them the permission to sell off some of your shares on your behalf without your consent. Review your contract and ask for explanations before you start any legal squabbles.

@feelgood,
I agree with you, Abc transport is doing really well on the market even though i didn't buy the public offer. Another stock that is impressing me is mutual benefit assurance. Nigerian brewries is still very confused. Dunlop is also doing well, stock wise. Chellaram is still good but scarce.

@Frankariri,
Ah ah Mr Frank, i was just marvelled at your tone nowwww kiss. Why are you now being defensive? It was just a joke, my eyes used to ache by just reading your post until i got used to your style of writing. You are good and we all appreciate you no doubt. So you can imagine my shock when i read your excitement on the transcorp issue.
@everybody
CCNN was grossly overpriced at 33.41 and is still overpriced at 28.41 (today's price) and i think if you have made a 100% gain, you should start thinking of selling as their current price doesn't support the loss after tax of 225 million compared with the profit after tax of 145.7 million recorded in the comparative period. You would remember that the price was once pegged at 21.57 for a while. It was becuse they planned to a right issue/ public offer at N6.50 naira. NSE aborted it but they insist that it was suspended. Personally, when i start hearing so many explanations and big grammer, i dumped the stuff. The dividend is not going to increase from 10 kobo which was paid in 2004. It is just enjoying the attention the building sector is enjoying. You can read it up on Stockswatch of this week on page 3. You might want to keep it, it is all your choice.
@Timoni
Thanks for all the info, pls could you get info on grommac? I agree with you on oceanic, the GTB thing is a rumour and has not been confirmed but the price will continue to rise.
I have got a terrible headache and i have got to go to bed before my eyes drop out of their sockets wink

Technology MarketRe: Is A Refurbished Laptop Better Than A 'Tokunbo' (Used) Laptop? by cheexy: 7:49am On Apr 16, 2007
Go for a new one. An old laptop would always be old and can't compete with a new one that just started its work. If it is for business, then you can go for a fairlu used one to cut costs. You would just be taking on someone's liability by taking a fairly used one. For more info please reach me on cheexycreations@yahoo.com. I sell. cheesy
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 5:19pm On Apr 15, 2007
@Tmoni
First aluminium, zenith etc would be releasing their results soon. Chellerams is good because its E.P.S is 0.17 and its price is still ok at 1.87 but it is scarce (as my stockbroker said). Basically you have to do your homework before you can decide what you want to buy because in the end, it is your money on the line.
@dele9000
Choose a good and credible stockbroker, go to them and they will open a cscs acount for you.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 10:49pm On Apr 14, 2007
@Timoni,
I will get back to you on that. I never really considered them. Bottom line is that you should go for shares that are going to release their results in April and May cos that would push the stock up if you are short term. Check the E.P.S before you go into anything so that you can be sure of good dividends even without capital appreciation. Make sure you are not getting in too late.

I am disappointed in all of you for making a mess of this board. You are all supposed to be mature. Sweet T, words are not enough to express my disappointment in you for the way you have handled this board overnight, bringing up the same issue of tribalism that we have all tried to fight. I was expecting to read some meaningful proposed solutions but all i heard was noise and accusation upon accusation. Couldn't even finish reading what all you guys and chics have posted. I wash my hands of this board. Shame shame shame on you all!
