Jimi Agbaje Aka Jaykay Not On The Candidate List

A report has just reached Star Fm, a radio station in Lagos from a caller in Surulere that the picture of Jimi Agbaje, a Lagos gubernatorial candidate running under the DPA (Democratic Peoples Alliance) is not on the candidate list in Surulere. As in, his picture was omitted.

Nobody has confirmed whether this applies to the whole of Lagos as reports reaching the station are still sketchy. His candidacy was never controversial so why has this happened? Do they see him as a threat? What happens to people who can't read and have just decide to look for the faces? How will this affect him?

@naijafresh
O i get it,  Finally,

@everyone
Transcorp never told us anything about dividends. They said capital appreciation and i don't expect anybody to sell at a loss if you can help it. I remember when i first heard of the insurance consolidation. Aiico was doing 1.8, , i bought it then because i knew the price was going to shoot up. After a month, it didn't shake so i sold off my shares at 1.71 to have enough money to benefit from the oceanic bank bonus issue as that looked more appealing and look now, aiico is between 4-5 naira. If only i had waited. Even though i got the gains i wanted from oceanic. It can't be compared to about 300% gain. Look at CCNN, its fundamentals have nothing to do with the price but it has risen from about 15 when i started watching it to about 30 something because of activities in the sector. Transcorp remains the most traded equity in the conglomerate sector and before you know it, the excess shares will be mopped up and there will be a case of demand being higher than supply. Just exercise a little patience and if you know you don't have that much patience, start dumping. It is all the naija phenomenon. Nobody is spreading rumours, we are just trying to keep this board alive and my "conspiracy theory" is a theory. Pls note that the keyword here is "theory"

@4 play and Sweet T,
I do not think that any of us is less than 18 years so i expect a certain level of maturity when dealing with an issue as sensitive as this. How would you feel if somone from somewhere mentioned your surname and said that everyone in your family was a fraudster and you know that you and probably people from your immediate family are not fraudsters and you frown at fraud in general or if you were walking on the streets of London and some white chic says "smelling black people" and you know that deep in your heart, you don't stink cos you are wearing a hot cologne or perfume. Would you like it?

The deed is done and will continue being done if we don't sit down like mature intelligent individuals we are and look for a solution to this nagging problem instead of casting stones until someone's head gets broken in the process cos in the end, all that matters is that we are all black and more importantly, all Nigerians.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by cheexy: 11:04pm On Apr 13, 2007
It makes me sick too but i kinda frown at the emphasis on ibo boys. For the fact that few ibo boys were caught doesn't mean that the ibos are the only tribe that engage in "yahoo-yahoo".

The trend has eaten deep into every tribe and we should all work hand in hand as a nation to restore moral values that have been eaten up by the craze for material wealth. Let us educate the younger generation about the importance of a good name and this country would change for the better.

Ha ha, Mr Frank the guru. Pls o, is Chellerams available or not available? Any stock broker in the house? I want to know if it is time to start switching or dumping stock brokers cos i hate laxity.

Guys, i was woken up by a call from someone that wanted info on my laptops and while i was trying to settle back into my long deserved sleep, a thought crossed my mind. "Does the explaination, that the technical suspension on transcorp was lifted by an overzealous employee hold water?", "Doesn't the lifting of the technical suspension have to be approved by so many managers and superiors?", "Was that a lie to cover the sale of some shares at lower prices to some big guns". or "Am i sleeping too much and exposed to so much sun, that my mind has started writing its own version of conspiracy theory, starring Transcorp, the big guns and the public?" undecided

I need your positions

Thanks for the transcorp info. GTB end of year is February. Pls keep your eyes on Chellerams. It is looking good. Anybody that gets it should alert us. I want to be sure that my stockbroker is not the only one that can't get it.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 6:23am On Apr 13, 2007
NASCON is good because the earnings of the dangote group will affect it positively. I started looking for the stock the day it was listed for as low as 5-6 naira and till now, it has not been available. Your stockbroker is not slack. It is just not available and that is one of the things that would keep driving the price of any stock higher. Apart from the earnings, it has driven dangote sugar higher and will drive the other company he wants to purchase higher (i have forgotten the name). The deal is that you just have to stay ahead of the game and invest wisely. I rememeber when i first heard about the probability that tripple gee was going to be approved by CBN to start printing cheques. Then the stock was doing between 1-2 naira, i kept on posting messages and i couldn't get my hands on it now it is doing between 5-6 and it is still scarce. You see, it is all about staying ahead.
@Tmoni
Stockwatch is not on the internet but you can grab it from the newstands or listen to star fm every morning between 8-9. Remember always read the fundamentals before buying anything and make sure you are not entering too late.

Will get back to you on that. If you are in Nigeria, you can grab a copy of stockwatch magazine. You can get information on any stock you re interested in.

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 8:54pm On Apr 11, 2007
@fbajomo, Tripple G was ideal as at 2 months ago when it was about 2 naira. During that time, it was very scarce due to the contract approval by CBN. It would be a bit difficult to get now except if short term investors have started dumping their holdings. and i don't think its current price is the best you could get it at.(thats just my opinion anyway). First bank was placed on technical suspension at 40.40. Transcorp investors, whatever you do, don't dump your shares now. Better days are on the way. Chellarams is a good buy but it is scarce. shocked Can't get my stockbroker to buy even a very little quantity.  I am reading a book "Beating the Streets" by Peter Lynch. He was in charge of a lot of mutual funds and has very good concepts so far. I recommend it to anyone who wants to gain more insight as it is very good for stock pickingcheesy

@Omoba
My point exactly. Do you have any gist on afroil? undecided
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 10:28pm On Apr 09, 2007
@Omoba,
From the beginning,we all knew that transcorp was not short term but long term so anybody would have been foolish to expect an exponential growth in a short while. If you know that you bought 10,000 units of a stock at 1 naira and the price falls to 50kobo and you buy 10,000 units more. You would have succeeded in buying 20,000 units at 0.75 thereby spending 15,000 naira. When the stock recovers (bearing in mind that you knew that it was long term from the beginning) and gets up to 1 naira, you would have made a profit of 0.25 on 20,000 units which amounts to 5,000 whereas if you had stuck to your 10000 units, you would have just broken even and if you had sold at 0.5, you would have made a loss of 5000 naira. This of course depends on how much money you can afford to keep lying fallow cos it can go both ways. Thats just my opinion

Ps i still need info on Afroil. Any leads?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 3:17pm On Apr 09, 2007
Londoncool, there is no point just thinking about the losses. The problem with transcorp is that there are too many shares in circulation and the only way for someone to maximize profit is to buy more if the price crashes further. That way, the resultant price you bought it at will be lower. After the company mops up the excess shares from the market, you can recover quickly. It is a gamble but i would prefer that to selling off at a loss than biting my fingers if the situation improves. Real investors make money when others are losing. Green horns can download the free ebook on www.stockmarketnigeria.com. That should give you the basic gist.

Pls i still need gist on afroil. I think it is hot for short term. Any info on earnings and EPS?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 8:54am On Apr 09, 2007
It is a 2 way thing, if you are long term, you can wait for the price to crash further and buy an equal or higher number of units than what you bought earlier for transcorp that way, you reduce your losses. I still believe in it though

Tripple Gee is a company that deals in office stationary but recently it was approved by cbn for printing cheques as cbn has directed banks to print new cheque books. From the lil i know, this will push the earning of the company and will affect share price. Within 3 weeks, the price has risen from 1.69 to 2.6. Even though it doesnt seem like much, one would make a 100% profit once the price hits 3.3 naira. Imagine investing 200k when it was 1.69 and going home with 400k when it hits 3.3 or higher. I still have to find out more about the company
