I went to Skye bank to get more information about the REIT they plan to float and i had a customer care officer call me back with information. She told me that they plan to float it at the end of the month. A REIT is a mutual fund that deals with real estate development. I think it is good for those that want to diversify. For more info

@anyone at First Bank, Abuja

I'm about to buy some IPO from the FBN (branch near Karu or New Karu), just like to know if anybody is interested in getting credit for the control number, before I send my brother to that branch tomorrow.
@naijaking,
You can put the number of one staff that advertised on another thread earlier on in theoffer. I personally like the way he did his marketing and we should just help him to meet his target, that is the least we can do. The number he supplied was FPO2001856201. You never know when someone might bein a position to help. Trust me, i am not getting anything from him. I don't even know the guy.

there are several networks in nigeria now, whydont you just throw the sim card in the bin, maybe you like the free night calls too much tongue
@Dis Guy
Very funny. I personally don't use MTN because i just don't like the network and when i knew i needed to make awoof calls, i just got myself a starcomms line for my business.It is the best thing that has happened to me telecom wise. You don't have to recharge, i use it to browse, i have free weekend starcomms to starcomms calls from 6pm, free weekday starcomms to starcomms calls from 12am.Superior voice quality and good customer service. What more do i need in a phone? My celtel line is just to keep in touch and for the per-second calls. Best of all, my customers don't have to worry about running up their office phone bills because it is a landline.   I also heard that before you can win the "who wants to be a millionaire"  20k, you need to have recharged your phone with up to that amount. Forget MTN hype. They are just exploiters.
Hi all,

Can i report my stock broking fime to SEC? I dropped my letter for transfer of shares with them and the receptionist told me to come back after 2months to get the letter signed. I only need two signatures and she says she's not even sure i'll get it in 2 months. Meanwhile, the second firm (Marriot Securities ) were so efficient and polite and gave it to me in 5 mins.

The worst part is that the UBA share's certificate i gave them to verify since August last yr has not been verified. I only found out last week because they never give CSCS monthly statements and when you request for it, you have to pay N50 per month while others give it free. At least Marriot gave it to me free. Its bad enough that i had to pay to verify the certificate.  I think they are trying to frustrate me from leaving them but my mind is made up.

Please what can i do. I can wait for 2 months to get it signed. Please i need your advice
@SLEEK_CHIC
That is a very terrible and unprofessional thing for any stockbroking firm to do. All is definitely not well. You should go to their office, ask the secretary to let you see her boss and issue a threat that you will report them to SEC to santion them and if they don't attend to you, you should find out whose office is in charge of handling erring stock brokers and report them. Meanwhile, please post the name of the stock broking firm for us to see. This will help other people to stay away from them.

What do you think of DSR at the current price N40ish. Is it a good buy? Have I missed the boat and should look for another stock to invest in.
@ferugio
It depends on what your aim of investing in DSR is. If it is immediate capital gain, then i don't see the price doubling in the nearset future so you should look elsewhere but if you are long term, then i think it is okay but you should exercise a little patience. DSR should fall further when the other public offers come in.

Just read from proshare that Dangote Sugar Refineries bagged the award for best Initial Public offer for Africa beating Stanbic and 5 others.

Schedule for the offers

Flour Company: Next 4 – 6 weeks

Cement Company: September/October 2007

The Port Harcourt and Kaduna Refineries would also become public companies and have their shares offered to Nigerians and the investing public through an initial public offering in 2008.
InvestmentRe: A Public Offer You Cannot Refuse by cheexy: 10:36pm On Jun 07, 2007
That is the worst public offer i have seen so far. Imagine coming out for a public offer just after reaping investors off with the "share reconstruction". Hope the price doesn't come crashing after the offer

@omoba
I will call my stock officer to confirm but last time i checked, you could open an account for free after which you start to invest. They are good, even though they don't give you advice (i don't need it anyway) they sell your shares when you want them to be sold and buy shares when you want them to be bought (as long as the stock is available) You still have to go to their office to make enquiries. Please find the address in my earlier post. I actually used to complain about my officer's tone of voice until i read other people's complaints about their own stockbrokers. I later got to find out that she was under some stress due to the oceanic bank public offer. Just go there and if you don't like them, you are free to walk out. Afterall, it is a free world.

i categorically do not like UBA and Intercontinental bank so i always look the other way,

might hv a look at it if i get some money,

A problem recognised is a problem half solved.
Detach yourself from your stocks. They don't know you own them. I am a flirt as long as stocks are concerned. Once the fundamentals are right and my objectives have not changed I stay with that stock. Woe betide it if the fundamentals change
@frankiri
And woe betide you if you don't find out early enough.

Nice one.The disadvantage of a forum like nairaland is that anybody can spring up from nowhere and post anything. Imagine a little boy who couldn't get a girlfriend cos he is broke, , (I can't even retype his post) suddenly having the ability to lend money. Please nino213, focus on passing your waec and stop disgracing yourself.

hi pals, i heard access bank is on the verge of coming into the market within weeks, my question is for existin access bank shareholders, how good is their shares? my bro bought zenith shares a year ago at 16+naire and he sold it for 50 through his agent. will access be that good? i ave oceanic nd first bank right nw but oceanic is still stagnant. why is it so?
Oceanic bank stock had been on technical suspension to enable them sort out the issues of the public offer. It was lifted last week so you should see changes in its price soon. Don't have info on access bank.
honeric01:
@cheexy, i didn't get your point. the customer care lady at opebi branch was the one that told me about the 50per rise within 1yr. infact when i opened my own, i wasnt given anything, nt even a cheque book so how i wonder how i'm going to access my account without any materials
Are you sure it is DISA? I have not seen any 50% rise in my account o
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by cheexy: 12:03am On May 30, 2007
honeric01:
how true is this, diamond bank has a type of an account called disa whereby the amount of money you deposit in your account for a period of 1 year will yield interest of 50%, that means if you have 1 million in there, exactly 1 year, you will be having 1.5million, how true is that?
@honeric
DISA means Diamond Integrated Savings Account. It means that it is a current and savings account all into one. You can pay in cheques and you have a cheque book but the cheque book cannot be presented through clearing. This means that you can't pay in a DISA cheque into an account. You can only issue the cheque to someone who will present it at the counter. Plus you are not charged C.O.T.I use a DISA account so i should know. Maybe who have a wrong package or bank.

Vitastraka:
What about Dangote Flour was that not supposed to be coming out sometime next month? Is it as attractive as access bank?
@Vitastraka,
In my opinion, Dangote Flour mills may not be as fantastic as Dangote sugar cos it doesn't have the luxury of being a monopoly in the sector. It also has NN flour mills and flour mills of nigeria competing with it for the market share. However with good marketing, a very competitive price and sentiments, the stock may perform as well as Dangote sugar.

@all,
Pls can someone tell me if he or she has been able to buy skye bank shares recently, my stockbroker has started with the "not available" story again.
