jos,Jos,jos, jos, jos and Jos......yes, lagos has a mixed polpulation comprising of people from diverse parts of the country, but there always seem to be a miasma of parochialism and etnnicism amongst the inhabitants. The yoruba man doesnt like the Igbo man, and so does the Igbo man. The hausas there are seen as lesser beings. In jos, before the 2001 crisis, the disparate ethnic groups cohabited peacefully, there was not any form of pretence . Also the minority groups were well represented and respected. During my sec education there I could hardly say whic ethnic group were more in my class. Its a harmonious motley class. They were tivs, hausas, igbos, yourubas, itshekiris..you name it. But after the crisis though, this wonderfl relationship became tense. As I left Jos long ago, I cannot say for sure if the fracture has been mended. |
Orikinla: She is world class and yet does not make noise about it like some Ghanaian and Nigerian Igbo "Notice Me" Nollywood actresses harassing us on Nairaland with their Photoshopped bikini pictures and over made up faces.must there be an ethnic tinge to your nonsensical twaddle. What brought Ghanaian and Nigerian Igbo actresses here? You are a bloody bigoted nincompoop. |

ogugua88: As terrifying as this news is, it was something else that caught my eye. How can the rising number of AIDS be partly attributed to a rising number of youths becoming homosexuals? I fail to see how that mention is remotely relevant. HIV/AIDS is not a "gay disease". Homosexual or not, Nigerians have unsafe intercourse. Even if the number of homosexuals in Nigeria went down, the rate of HIV/AIDS contraction will continue to rise until more people are monogamous and use condoms, which is currently the ONLY contraceptive that can prevent HIV/AIDS if used regularly and properly (excluding abstinence). It has been scientifically proven that HIV rate is higher in homosexual men than in their heterosexual counterparts. Though scientists have not really been able to pinpoint the reason. One of the speculated reasons being the tendency of bruising the rectum-which is poorly lubricated-during an*al inter*course, thereby facilitating fluid exchange. There is also a higher likelihood of having a tear in the protective latex being used. |
A wonderful and well articulated piece. But can a mentally ill person construct such a beutiful piece? I doubt. |
Logicboy03: Wasnt it Adeboye who calimed that he drove for miles on an empty tank?coincidentally, the crux of his devotional teaching today was on blasphemy. Seems he knew you'd be foolishly attacking.Put a bridle on your tongue. |
pDude: I'm too lazy to go outdoors to snap it so here it is (pix from the internet).Na for your dream you dey drive this car? |
The car wey we dey drive for our dream? I get plenty if nah that one. |
Nice piece. But you got your message a bit muddled up. I don't quite get where stand on foreign degrees. You seem to discourage it at one point, and yet encourage it at some other point. On a lighter note, do you still have the funny accent? If you do, quickly discard of it. It may be the reason why you had to search for a job for so long. |
SimonAndal: ILLUMATI SENT GUY WITH ILLUMATI DRESS. WILL ROT LIKE OBAMA SOUL MICROCHIP IN FIRE OF LOVE ORE WITH EARTH SOUL HUMAN FOR SEXY LIFE.What on earth are you trying to say? This is the most meaningless sh*it I've ever read. |
free2ryhme: misplaced priorities.. in a university of higher learning? what a pity...some of the comments people make here are nonsensical. What does fetching water has to do with setting priorities? Nna, if you don't have anything to say then STFU. |
pictures please. Im really interested. |
kwangi: You just inspired me to a very brilliant idea!Well, your analogy is flawed and at best puerile. You don't need to administer pain killers to plants in order to numb the sensation of pain. Again, if its not about pain, it about what then? |
Walexz02: Who be your teacher for senior schoolyour very own teacher! |
Plants dont have nervous systems. Though they respond to certain external stimuli like light, water and touch (few plants). I doubt if a plant can feel pains. The nervous system however, is found in all animals. |
Logicboy03: Norway is actually a very atheistic antion. It has one of the highest rates of atheism in Europehahahahahaha....I laught again. Another bogus stat from an atheist site. Why did'nt you pull stats from a neutral site, say the national website of norway or from Wikipedia even? Gobsmacked at extent people would go to confuse others. |
kmcutez: Most western countries eg Norway, Sweden etc are atheist nation but they have not relapsed into the stone age. They have the best HDI. Meanwhile african countries who are religious are the ones living in the stone age.I laugh at your prevarication. Did you just say norway is an atheist nation? Go get your facts right. See, the internet is there for you. Atleast make a little research before you spew out your ignorance. |
kmcutez: Nope, they are too busy buying private jets, building mansions, building private universities to reap more profit etc.I guess you wouldnt have an idea. Actually, the answer is nothng. Just nothng. The so called atheists that constantly chastise christians have done just nothng. If you say christians dont give enough, then put them to shame by giving. Again, you are keen to mention pastors that fly around in private jets, but youre so quick to forget those that are renderng great humanitarian services; those that put railments on the naked, and give scholarships to poor nigerians. Yes, you'd of course forget. |
ooman: It is not xtianity that has done so much for this country, it is simply people, good in heart but afraid of hell.Yes I attribute this deeds to Christianity. Isn't man an animal with the most selfish of intentions. What religion does is to serve as a moral comapss that guides the deeds and activities of man. Remove religion and other agents of moral enforcement (judiciary and law enforcement agents) and see if the world doesnt relapse into the stone ages. |
kmcutez: Show me one christian, just one christian practicing the things you listed above and I will convert to christianity.Actually there are too many to mention. You see only if you want to see. We shouldnt let our despondency make us lose faith in God. |
kmcutez: But your actions are affecting us as a nation. Religious conflicts, complacency towards the state of affairs in this country, prosperity messages which has led to a lot of vices, eg corruption, theft etc. Need I go on.Who are the biggest philantropists in this nation? Arent they mostly christians and christian organizations. How many of the religious conflicts have christians instigated? Arent christians often accused of being pacifists. How many hospitals have been builts in this nation by atheists organization of Nig? My point is this, Christianity has done so much for this nation, and I in no way deny that are bad people who disguise themselves as christians. Such people are every where even amongst atheists. |
Heatblast: Me sef tire, one would expect that people who believe in a ultra rich sky daddy would be richer/ better than those who don't, but its the exact opposite, Aficans believe in a god more than the rest of the world combined(that's just me guessing) yet poverty rules unchallanged. We are always waiting for aid form the godless nations(compared to us) Take Nigeria for example, every friday and sunday, continious disturbance, yet no change. You know not much son. I'd recommend you study the book of proverbs. The so called rich godless nations youre referng to were once steeped in christianity. Most of the foundng fathers of those nations were ardent christians. Let me not even talk about the 18th and 19th century scientists that made ground breakng scientific discoveries. These guys were Christians. Yes they were. That you have criminals and megalomaniac as leader in Africa is no fault of christianity or of any other religion for that matter. My bible upholds those moral principles that advance any society. From helping they needy to being selfless and altruistic. From not being covetous to being contempted. Yes, all these are in the bible. So, when atheists whine over christianity a find it a little befudlng. Live and lets live. Simple. |
Logicboy03: Most atheists here are ex-christians.sounds like the post of someone who is embittered. That you dumped your christian faith is no reason why we should also follow in your foot steps. You've made your decision, allow us to abide by ours. Can all you atheists leave Christians alone to 'foolishly' worship God. |
Bliss4Lyfe: Wat a stu.pid country. 3rd and 4th person granted bail, say waitin happen. Just becos dey were not at the scene of the gruesome murder don't mean they are not guilty of the crime. In English law they are secondary participant to the crime committed and incohate offence refers to them as party to the conspiracy to rape and murder.Emotional ramblings of a kid. |
234GT: The police pension thief stole 27 billion. FG should just collect the money from the thief and give 26 billion to BH. If the stolen 27 billion goes back to FG, it will end up being stolen again. The only issue is that if BH gets their demand, another militant group would spring up and demand for 50 billion after wasting innocent lives. So what happens to the policeman who is retired and entiled to a pension? |
CyberG: The posters up here are iboz and their response to this issue is not surprising. In 1966, iboz did the same and their people just waived it off. No problem but history has a way of repeating itself. Ihejirika will soon have to leave, even so GEJ may have to leave. What do you think will happen then if you thumb your noses at the rest of the country? Even should no one leave, Ihejirika cannot issue a single command that will be executed if he riles up and loses the respect of the army. Exactly the same thing happened in 1966 when a seargent major told the new commanding officer that none of his command will be executed except on conditions and the rest is history. A word is enough.Bloody kangaroo. |
Metallurgist: Xtainity is but a chamber of commerceDid you just say Christianity? I certainly hope you don't mean christianity. That you have qualms with a clergyman doesn't warrant taking on Christianity at large. Be careful. A word they say is enough for the wise. |
interesting and informative topic. We expect more of these kind of posts. I'm tired of the several gormless post I see on Nairaland. Why would somebody post a topic like 'Emeka Ike and Obasanjo, who wore it better'? Isnt it stupid? And how nonsensical topics make it to the front page still remains a mystery to me. Seems some of the Mods here are given to prattles. |
dayokanu: Its obvious you know nothing about European footballAnd you think you know about european football? No coach would want to work under Abramovich? You must be kidding. You'd rather say no pussyfooting coach would want to work with him. Moreover, Mancity, PSG, Milan all wanted his signature. Why didnt he go to any of these clubs? Answer that. Mou did build that inter team. He brought in Wesley, Eto and Milito to mention a few, and we know how influential these signings proved. Yet, he left everthing for a bigger challenge; the hallmark of a genious. Lets see how Bayern fare in the champions league nxt season. |
dayokanu: Pep has moved to the best club in Europe. He chose this, he chose that ...........But one thing becomes apperent; Pep is a coward. He decided against Chelsea and Man city that were willing to do anything for his services simply becouse he was afraid of the challenges those clubs might pose. Of course we all know what happens to non performing managers at Chelsea. Look at what Mou did in 2010. He left a perfect inter team which he built himself and opted to take the Madrid job (a poisoned chalice if I may say) that pitched him against the almighty Barcelona, and after two seasons was able to win the la liga, a seemingly impossible feat hirtherto. Again, Pep's antecedents show he's a coward; he hastily took a sabbatical leave after losing the la liga to madrid in 2012. Secondly, if you are privy to what went on during the brief period Zlatan stayed at barca you'd agree he (pep) is a coward. Infact, zlatan called him a coward severally. And now the coward has gone to an 'all ready made club' where he would'nt have much of a test to pass. |
