Unfortunately, this is the sad reality.. |
At least something is being done. What is the rationale for re-opening the schools Next Week Friday. For God's sake, those people died 4 days ago, why can't the schools re-open after 3 weeks (21 days) at least those people who were quarantined would have been out of quarantine. Just my take. Cheers!! |
Speechless Lassa fever strikes, yet again.....in the same hospital where many health workers were killed by same disease 10 years ago including a consultant, a Senior Registrar, 2 Registrars and some nurses, .....the same hospital that commissioned a virology diagnostic centre (Lassa fever centre) 2 years ago but has remained non-functional till date... federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA. Lassa fever, you've taken a brother (Dr Felix Otu Ali) of Community Medicine department, FETHA, and a Senior colleague in Medical School days (Dr Abel Sunday) of ENT department FETHA. Why is the government playing games with the lives of her citizens, every life matters, no life is more precious than the other. Health workers are continuously facing deadly diseases every day and to think that the hazard allowance is just N5000 only, is not only ridiculous but a shame, in a country that brags about being the giant of Africa. Why is the Lassa fever centre in FETHA not functional, everything should not be about politics all the time. ARD should not just be seen to be going on strike on matters that relate to remuneration but issues such as this centre which the government used to hoodwink the masses should be a reason to embark on strike to draw government's attention to it. It is surprising to learn that despite losing these two doctors in FETHA, the management of the hospital has not seen any reason to close the section of the hospital where these people were initially treated before being transferred to Irua, at least to fumigate it and make it safe for work, rather patients are being transferred to a different ward.. How safe are these wards?.... and some doctors are still working there, risking their lives with no form of protection.... ARD FETHA should wake up to their responsibilities of protecting lives of their colleagues, other health workers and patients as well.... Dr Felix was managed in a mission hospital before being moved to FETHA, when he was first suspected of having viral haemorhagic fever... Bleeding gums, etc.. What has the ministry of health done to curtail the spread of this deadly disease or are they just waiting to attend a mass burial of Ebonyians and start shedding crocodile tears? An entire community is at the verge of being wiped out. Honourable Maria Ude Nwachi (Afikpo Chic), this is the time to act, the entire Afikpo is in danger, Senator Sunny Ogbuorji, this is not time for politics, your senatorial zone is in danger, Honourable Idu Igariwey, your people are looking up to you. The government should put health in their priority list and should declare a state of emergency in the health and education sectors otherwise, the current brain-drain will be a tip of the iceberg compared to what is about to happen in the future. Cheers!! |

LRNZH thank God for people like you that have refused to be infected and afflicted by the Zombietic virus. Keep giving it back to them. May God deliver some people from Zombietic-Dullardeen (ZD) syndrome. Cheers!! |
sainty2k3:I think the point you made here is clearer, the main thing is MISDIAGNOSIS not that it was confirmed by quantitative assay, from this premise therefore, it is impossible for a confirmed AA and AS to give birth to SS, except it was a case of wrong diagnosis. Cheers! |
Just for correction Bro, HbSC and HbSS are not the same as sickle cell anaemia, but they are both forms of sickle cell disease. It is only HbSS that is called sickle cell anemia. Sickle cell disease is the presence of an abnormal Hb and HbS. Examples HbSC, HbSS, HbS-βthalasaemia, etc. HbAC and HbAS are not forms of sickle cell disease because they both contain a normal haemoglobin, HbA. I hope I have made some little sense. I'm sure it was a typo error, just correct it Sir. Cheers!! |
naijaking1:With due respect, this is actually wrong. Beta-S is not the same as HbS. Again point mutation of glutamic acid to lysine does not result in thalasaemia but HbC. Mutation of glutamic acid to valine leads to HbS. Normal Haemoglobin has both 2-alpha and 2-beta chains. During production of haemoglobin, if there is deficiency in any of these chains such that it is no longer complete, it results to thalasaemia, which could be alpha or beta thalasaemia depending on which chain is deficient. This defective gene CANNOT be detected through electrophoresis but by quantitative analysis. |
We should expect a diversion in the coming weeks. @Thecabal, it's from the newly released list of board chairmen and members' appointments. Pathetic! Cheers!! |
Both Patricia Etteh and Herman Hembe were also appointed as board chairperson and Chairman Cheers!! Ps: we should expect something to divert our attention from this mess in the coming week or days. Pathetic!! ![]()

handsomePussy:Just relax, because only about 15-20% of people ttc fail to do so within the first year of marriage and this reduces to about 5% or less in the following year (this is not to say that your wife will not conceive within this first year of marriage, but just in case if it didn't happen so you won't be over worried) and this may be purely due to unexplained reasons. I will still advise that both of you should not be anxious, just relax it will happen when you're not expecting it. However, if your spouse is up to 35 or has any other medical conditions then I will suggest you guys go and see a gynaecologist for further evaluation, but if not then relax. Cheers!! |
If it's blood test she did for the pregnancy then it's likely she is not pregnant.... But no need to panic!!! For how long have you been TTC? If within a year then relax, cos' it will come. Like you and your spouse have been advised already, shun anxiety. I wish you luck. Cheers!! |

Wao!! masterpiece per excellence!!. Abati, you're the Master. |
Dasherz:Madam, tell your brother to always verify information before spreading same. This was a chattered bus. For the guy talking about Wike, that was a very careless talk, the accident happened in Ebony state not Rivers. I lost a friend in that unfortunate incident, may his soul and all those who died REST IN PEACE, AMEN. May God grant those who were transferred to FETHA and the one in Afikpo Medical Center speedy recovery. Cheers!! |
Solomyn:Don't go about meeting doctors by the road side, visit a good hospital, obtain a card, be on the queue and then see a doctor, explain your ordeal to him, he may need to refer you to a specialist if need be. stop wasting your time and money with quacks. cheers!! |
