Salsera,
i like it when points are brought up like this. i must comend ur ability in deggesting ur points.
on issues like this economics or a knowledge of it will help us the more. in the case of importation and exportation as it relates to banning of foriegn goods have u ever taking ur time to think of the type of economy we are running in nigeria- closed economy or free economy. for a better understanding a close economy means a case where a country depnds on her local manufacturers in satisfying the needs of her consumers( using india as a case study) and a free economy is where there is a huge free competitition between foriegn and local goods( USA is a case study).
on the other hand, if we are going to discuss production as it concerns nigeria, have we thought of the number of consumers and compare that with the number of producers that is discussing population as a factor of production and consumption.
what about the other factors which include; power, how do u compare a nigerian company using generator with foriegn companies who do not even know what the cost of generators are talkless of buying desiels and petrol. think of security, think of our roads.
am not against the idea of promoting indeginious companies as that is the dream of every nigerian but am only saying right thing at the right time.
if we must run a closed economy let us do that to the fullest not if the president's wife or his vice's wife is interested in the production of rice then there will be a ban on rice while anything can go in the area of beans.
believe u me, if the ban continues, nigeria with the level of development we are at, will one day look like a home movie.
if obj and his colleagues are unable to make power supply constant in nigeria since his eight yrs, i have every reason to doubt his endeavours and my accessment of his government is 0% because no one can mention any country of the world that is growing without power supply.

what good are we talking about? if u have a lexus jeep in ur house, will u have any need for okada?
why don't the FG base their efforts on better alternatives and allow the consumers to choose among the alternatives.
ok, can u imagine an abuja with air conditioned buses for transportation at affordable rate or air conditioned taxis at affordable rate. who then will preffer okada to such or do we need a prophet to tell the okada men that their era is gone.
but here is a situation where the people in politics might as well be the owners of the buses and in their inordinate ambition to maximize wealth will do anything possible to stop any hindrance even if it means banning private cars.
nigeria is far much backward in development and as such creating much rooms for insecurity in the country as most banned products and services are ppl's businesses and as such those ppl must be engaged in one thing or the other hence robberies here and there.
i am of the suggestion that there be a ban on all these big fat stomach politicians in niger

Ashewo,
i would seriously want u to withdraw this statement: i thot y'll had sense but its obvious this website is full of some retarded idiots.
on the other hand u are not good in jokes. how would u go to that extreme. they all might be joking as well and as such could not have warranted ur making such detrogatory statement to all of us that visit the website.
when u throw in such a public forum, u do not mean to get responses just the way u want them.
for real i saw it as a joke and was going to contribute b4 i saw ur reaction which i think is uncalled 4.
well for the topic, i can't stop remembering how in my buta ways i would preffer fufu to anyother thing for my breakfast.
how i would have fufu in the morning, garri in the afternoon and yam in the night and the much celebrated sunday /sunday rice.
it was really a baptism of carborhydrate

Banning okada is a good idea but the problem here will be, what next?
this administration has been linked with a lot of banning. will it be right to say it is banning crazy?
ban on textile, ban on furniture ban on this, ban on that but what happens at the end of the day.
how many textile factories/companies do we have there in nigeria and how efficient and effective are they in production.
how many companies are into furniture and how many of our so called leaders are using locally manufactured textiles and furnitures? who is cheating who?
if okada is banned and a more conducive means of transportation put into place, nobody will have reason(s) toquestion the action(s) of the administration over that. but imagine a situation where a individual businessmen will sponsor the banning only to start with a low t-fair and will be inflating the price on daily bases and all will be to the detriment of the road users and in this case people will be forced to ask why wouldn't they leave okada which had been making life easier for us.
in my opinion, there is no need for the banning boom instead let the government encourage the local industries put the basic armenities into place so that they can compete favourably with their foreign counterparts and nigerians will have reasons to go for local goods which has same quality at a lower price.
no normal consumer will go for local goods which has lower quality and higher price hence the need for foriegn goods but the enterpreneuars in nigeria are all aware of this danger and would stop at nothing using their ungodly connections in abuja to ban the foriegn goods and thereby forcing the consumers against their wills.
it is high time nigeria will inculcate the consumers in their rule of law by allowing freedom of consumption without a hiden price tag.
provide alternative means of transportation in abuja with better services and allow the okada men to voluntarily disengage themslves but because the governement is not sure of their ability to do this hence they resort to forceful disengagement and thereby making way for the unholy increase in our high way roberies.
which way nigeria?

i think God is on work.
baba can cause his own fall.
i will like the whole world to honour Atiku as the biggest fool of the year if he allows baba and his group to sink him alone.
i will suggest that atiku link them all up so that if sinking is possible let them sink together.

check out other parts of the world, you can see demonstrators in the street and at the end of the day their requests will be granted.
in nigeria requests of protesters will be granted through the nuzzles of armoured tanks.
the leaders of labour leaders will always leave offices with very fat stomach and fat bank accounts betraying the populace.
the systems are so crude that even the bigs fools(leaders) do not in anyway see the country as having a conducive atmosphere for investment.
very unfortunate.
God must intervene to get us out of the self styled leaders and godfathers of the country especialy in the hands of the so called pdp.

we are all aware that obj would not allow atiku as his succeesor come 2007 and based on this i think he(obj) have been busy working on his succeessor.
i would preffer it if God can give us an anti Obj come 2007 to enable him expose the ills of this administration.
at least to put us through with the real pitures for these fights between no 1 and no 2 citizens of the country. why the two elephants are fighting over the wealth of the nation while the entire populace suffer in pains of hunger and lack of basic infrastructures.
please would you want a pro-obj or an anti-obj for the next president?

which way nigeria? will Ribadu save nigeria by implicating the two big fools? i am not in support of atku for president but the question here is ; who is next?
in his effort not to allow atiku for president, the president is sure working on someone secretely to succeed him and my fear here is must that be? God should save us.

i like the ideas here.
they are all the same.
Obj is nothing but afraid.
we are only knowing the sins and imvestments of IBB and ATiku now bcs obj is still on seat and mind u by the time Atiku comes up he will let nigerians into what they shldknow about baba.
let such not be the case.
let them go bcs they do not have anything to offer.
Atiku participated in the government that has failed to provide nigerian with basic armenities for the past eight years.
he shld be ashamed of himself.
if out of old age, obj has refused to be ashamed of himself, what happened to atiku who appears younger. he shld find a way to commit suicide.
IBB is not worth discussing.

it is really embarrassing that till date nigerians are still too blind to know the truth.
is the establishment of EFCC and other security agents basically for only people with political ambitions.
how come the presidency, the house of assembly and all other arms of PDP( not goverment) are concentrating only on the politicians instead of the country they are surposed to rule.
how conviencing does it sound that since eight years(cool Atiku has been with OBJ he never noticed that Atiku is corrupt?
what are the achievements of the(military) president within this eight years.
banning all foriegn goods and thereby turning most of our struggling young men into jobless people and creating unconducieve atmosphere for the masses in the hands of armed rubbers.
it is high time we beging to obsever that we are in the boom of armed rubbers with a security system that is automatically out of place as we witness a o% of electricity and water supply in the country.
how come we are all out to crucify Atiku for declearing his intention to be a president while promoting and praising the likes of Chris Uba, Bode george and tony Anninh.
what moral justification do the pdp and obj have to stop his if he is a true nigerian.
the truth here is that obj knows the implication of atiku as a president.
the efcc should face the issues squarely and let us see both idiots sink alongside each other.
nigerians should understand that the dsappoint the pdp has given to nigerians is not a function of atiku alone.
never in the history of politics anywhere in the world has people come out to confess to using public funds to rig elections to make sure public office holders re kept back on seat even agaisnt the will of the masses yet we have efcc who is born to combact financial mismanagements.
under a normal situation pdp not atiku is a disgrace.
people should start believing that the prayers of the populace have been answered and God is about exposing the evil doers.
nigeria obj is the only president that have for no reasons changed a winning team.
what are the rationale behind the changing or indirect removal of Okonjo Iwuala? what are the impacts of the new choosen minister.
for obj, he has proved that age has turned his systems upside down.
i pray that Atiku will succeed in taking his boss along with him that is if all these are not scripts mearnt for Pete Edochie and kanayo O. kanayo.
obj, u are a disgrace to humanity and i hope all these fat old fool will decide to die or watch from afar while the mantle of leadership goes to the young men with good intentions to move a country blessed by God with uncountable natural resources forward.

Brothers,
this forum could be a very educative one if only we can keep sentiments apart. David mentioned apoint about terrorism not link to islam and i do agree with that.
Saudi Arabia is the holy land for islam is am not mistaken and they have decleared Bin Laden wanted. most people who were working with Bin Laden lost their relatives and loved ones in the 9/11 attack and other attacks hence they began to have a rethink.
the president of Jordan asked a question after an attack in a wedding ceremoney in one of the biggest hotels there and lives of muslims were lost and he was questioning the interest of a muslim coming to bomb the wedding ceremony of a fellow muslim.
the bible said those who live by guns shall die by guns. if anyone is saying or supporting the act then we will pray that he or his relatives get involved and become a victim.
Sadam Hussien was once sentenced to death for over a coup but he excaped only to later succeed in been the president so tell me the faith of those who convicted him. arafat was sentenced to death for a coup and excaped to egypt and later became president. despite what looked like redemtion for the ppl of palestine, his account was traced to be very fat after his death while his ppl were languishing with hunger.
it is belived that anyone who died in course of fighting for Allah will go to heaven, how come these leaders are not leading by examples. how come all their children are schooling and living in Europe and America while the other poor ppl are recieving lessons on how to be suicide bombers.
since heaven or been with Allah is the ultimate goal of every living person, these leaders at least are surposed to make sure their family members are well represented.
let us take our mind to the situation in Iraq where shias are bombing sunnis and sunnis are bombing shias so both are dying for Allah and will make it to heaven.
it is time we know what we are hearing and teaching.
i am living and dubai and have had the opportunities to meet real muslims from different parts of the region and on a close discussion they will let you know the so called leaders of these wars are into business and i bet u Bin Laden is one of the world's leading millionaires but his war against westerners is making his wealth to recognised.
they are into their dangerious businesses and using these wars to distract our attentions on very different levels.
the God we are fighting for is a mighty God who can destroy the world in a twinkle of an eye so why the waste of time?
in all let people who believe in peace meet peace and for them that believe in killing others be killed.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by chidichris(m): 3:28pm On Sep 05, 2006
members should always read well on topics b4 discussing them.
it is really unfortunate that the main people sponsoring these wars are not experiencing the consequences directly.
first of all, one has to ask himself, who are hamas and hezboula and who interest are they protecting.
as it is Palestine was having a president who looked back on the voilence in the country and decided to go over it through dialogue and the discussion with isreal was yielding profit to the extent that isreal had to evacuate its citizens in west bank for palestine.
the hamas and the invicible hands of iran and syria felt it was not good and worked their way into the leadership of palestine and denouce the right of isreal to exist. this drew condemination from all over the world and most countries are great donors to the country which has almost nothing to survive on. since hamas said they will not recognise isreal as a state western donors stop all forms of funding then iran promised to take over but to what extent have they gone since reliable news agencies have it that workers have not been recieving their wages in palestine.
one can see iran moving its desperate moves towards finding a way to weaken the government of lebanon through the use of hezboula which will make way for the militant group to gain popularity in lebanon and finally win elections in the nearest futue and theirby restore strict islamic rules in the country.
to cut the story short, hams went to kdnap an isreali soldier and isreal has nearly sized all the hamas members over(60) for a soldier.
hezboula went and kidnapped 2 soldiers and isreal almost destroyed everything in lebanon with the death toll estimated to over 1000 for just two soldiers.
funny enough the hezboula chief annouced his regrets over their action in the kidnap but the deed has been done. the good thing is that he promised not to repeat such in the near future.
iran and syria were indirectly sponsoring the groups but refused to come out openly.
who knows if this the iranian president's plans to bring down the arabs as one can never know the politics of terrorists.
Nairaland General › Re: Is Nigeria really going to get better? by chidichris(m): 3:05pm On Sep 05, 2006
if the answer is needed in a one word, it is surely YES but what we have to think about is when?
imagine a by mistake president of Nigeria concentrating his time on basic infrastructures in the likes of power(electricity) good water, good roads and the almighty security.
with these four things into place, we will see a pile of investors on their kneels begging for lincense because the market is their for them to make money.
so my people let us pray for God's intervention which will see just a good person on the seat with the eyes of the bad eggs closed on him and we will be in our promise land.

My Dear,
i want to believe that Nigeria is under some kind of spell.
wow very serious minded leaders like nigerian leaders.
imagine many are dying to serve nigeria yet many more are on line to die.
oponent go as far as killing whosoever will stop them from serving nigeria.
leaders indeed.
from chairman to commissioner to governor then to minister and finally the vice president of president what a leader.
climbing the larder of leadership without caring about the feelings of the lead.
who will believe that Buhari who introduced this mess into nigeria through his 1983 coup is fighting to be an elected president.
how can you be an elected president when u out of military powers destroued the democracy of nigeria.
all of them that have murdered sleep will not know sleep in their lives.
leaders with no good intentions.
how come our gospel leader, mr. reforms have not in eigth years been able to restore light, water, good roads and security.
it sounds funny a very good a economy without the basic armenities of life. what a shame.
the most shameful thing is that all of them know what we need most and that will be their centre point during campaigns but as soon as they get the power to hell with the electorates afterall their votes did not put me here.
in fact they are correct especially with the legal status of goodfathers as are been encouraged by PDP no leader will be interested in the welfare of the people rather they work to please their political godfathers.
disappointment all round.

my only blame to zidane that he did not do it in a way the mark will remain of the nonesense boy at least he should have been strecthed out of the pitch straight to hospital so that in totality they will all know that the blacks can be aggressive and that would have been a land mark in discipline in the game.

nigeria won niger 2-0 in abuja - congratulations but am still wondering what happened to that ziel with which the supper eagles played their last two world qualifiers. what happened to the spirit of 5-1, 5-1, 10 goals in our last two matches.
the problem is here again, Uganda is at the top of the table with Nigeria second.
with countries like losotho, uganda and niger in our group the result is surposed to be nigeria thrashed uganda 5-0, nigeria thrashed losotho 5-0, nigeria thrashed niger 6-0.
the coach and the player should understand that the soccer loving nigerians will not have any reason to bear with loose out to minors as a result of over confidence even the idea of dragging positions should not be allowed.
the earlier the better or are we going to be habitual loosers?

to you arsenal fans,
i decided to call it a quit when i saw how unpredictable the club is as i hate unpredictable people.
in their first team squad, they have nothing less than 45 players yet , an injury to a player say eboue can cause a 3 months set back before they will find a suitable replacement. why? their last season's setback was as a result of henry's injury as they had to wait till his late come back before they start their struggle.
i used to like the club but when i noticed that the manager(wenger) and his counterpart in man u are into modern days slavery especially on their black players.
i can't stop thinking about how Ebuoe of all people worth 1.5 million pounds while Walcot worth 15 to 16 million.
i can't stop thinking how fergusion rated mikel 4 million in buying and all of a sudden rated him 16million for selling without any club training . what a funny drama.
my advise to you arsenal fans is that u let the club know that EPL is no longer what it used to be especially with the involvements of the chelsea billionaire, the arrival and take over of the man u club by the american don as well as the latest aston villa take over. it is either they change their manner and attitude towards players or history will remember them for their happy in the premiership.
to me another name for arsenal is heart breaks.

i am not here to say Ribadu is not working. even Obj and his governors are working but waht am saying here is why haven't the likes of Bode George, Tony Annineh Chris Uba and Adedebu and a host of others been touched?
go through the lists of all the pro 3rd term surporters and u will see that they are all secred cows.
is OBJ and Ribadu not aware that all the 36 states governors have performed below expectations.
is Ribadu not aware of how much the states and locals governements recieve from the federal government monthly? what happen to all these funds.?
why is that the local government chairmen are warming up for state and federal house while house members are warming up for the states seats leaving the governors with no option than to warm up for presidency.
did the alamesiya saga stop other governors from travelling? if such huge sums of funds where traced to alamesiya and other governors are clean then what happens to those funds. which governors among the 36 have been able to put up a project that worth 10% of the funds traced to alamesieye.
it is funny when you seat back and think about it all.
who is fooling who.
out of 36 state governors, only one has such funds traced to his foriegn account then the other good 35 should have been able to show at least 50% of such funds in projects.
our dear obj, do you inspect the governors over the allocations given to them by ur administration or do u dash them as personal grants for surporting ur administration,
let the efcc humbly resign their appointments like Okonjo Iweala before they become part of the corruption or do the work without fear or favour.
personal, i know Ribadu has a good intention by the power above him never give him absolute powers otherwise the gentleman was able to nail the so called bode george in the Nigerian Ports Authority fraud but obj instead told him to go and do his home work well like he did in the case of the fraud in the ministry of foriegn affairs.
