Boss, just the link alone you sent will enlighten others that will stumble on this thread soon, your advice is always welcome here oh, abeg for newbies like us, nobody attacked you, you tried helping in ur own way , abeg no vex. Keep on posting for future candidates Schwartz: jaybmich and UncleJudax What do you guys mean? Did I come to Germany to sell Yams? I neither own nor know anyone that owns an African shop here. I am giving you the normal price that I have been buying. In some shops its far more expensive. 7€ yam should be the smallest tube sef. Don't you know that Naija foods are expensive here? Na wa o..some students contribute money to buy and cook naija food. Whenever one comes here to drop advice it is always welcomed with attacks that's why I don't even bother myself coming here to post anymore. |

When they say 670 or 720€ per month, is it a compulsory stuff to withdraw the money every month frm the blocked account? What if you have little money in your pocket that can still last months, can you put the blocked account withdrawal on hold?, anytime you like |

I don't really know much up to my bosses here tho, but i belive a fresh bsc is d only better thing to do here, (my opinion) and he should get out his transcripts already if he wana start applying for this year, i believe the application for most of the Universities have started and is moving at God speed, he either needs the transcripts or at least 100lv Transcripts to resume 100lv there, or he passes through studienkolleg. And if mech eng is still possible, i don't know, i believe sm1 will shed better light. mercylicious: Good evening good ppl, I have not been able to sleep well for a week running. My younger brother graduated with 3rd class though not his fault. He got admission in mech eng but was told to leave school after their first year because the schol overadmitted students into the course and were having issues with Nuc. All the styudents with pass in english were told to drop. It took the intervention of some rep members before they were told to chose other courses in depts with less students. He joined the new dept in year 2 and was told to write all yrar 1 and year 2 courses. He wrote 30 courses in second year and it also affected him. 3rd year and 4th year courses were all good. After final year, he also had 5 missing scripts, 4 were later found, but he had to rewrite one . it ended in 3rd class. This came as a surprise to me as i dont know him to be unintelligent. He broke my heart when he told me he is just a graduate but might not be able to work as a graduate.my eyes are still filled with tears.
After that, His friend DT promised to help out with Dubai resident visa also duped him and sent fake docs. He is completely devasted and needs help.
After discussing with him in depth, I want him to clean up his academic record . I believe he can do better and I am willing to assist. After considering cost of foreign education, I settled for German education. Opening a blocked account won't be a problem as the 3 elder sis are working and can pull funds for that. Below are questions that are bugging my head for answers;
1. Do you advise applying for college or PGD? Do they do PGD in Germany? 2.if college, should he submit his first degree or just omit it as supporting doc? 3. If PGD? Which schools do u think will accept 3rd class? 4. his course of choice is still mech eng . do you think its possible. Note his waec English is pass So sorry for this long epistle, but I just poured out my heart to know if I can sleep. I've started reading the 3 German visa threads but a quick answer will help. |

Using transcripts from 100lv to 200lv... Faculty of pharmacy tho, and i'm applying for i.t/comp sci.. Bsc... Although i sent along legalize diploma certificate in information technology also, to uniassist...remains my ielts which i get dis weekend, i cn still forward it to uniassist after it comes out, but what if the vpd is ready before that time, will i have to wait again for anoda long time, before they add up the lang cert, or i cn submit the ready vpd nd lang cert together? because a skul's dead line is about 8days after the ielts is said to come out.. And is there any special requirements for the transcripts needed for bsc. The vpd making process started probably this week, since they confirmed my docs last Friday. |

Nice piece man, are you applying direct via naija transcripts? Or studienkolleg.. Leprof1: Good Morning everyone
I am an ardent follower of this new thread since it began a while ago and it's been filled with amusing, annoying, helpful and snobish folks... All facets of every human characteristics is ably represented here.
But I have also noticed that there are very few people taking up bachelor's degree in Germany, as most are going for masters degrees. Bearing that in mind, I feel it's time to start a new trend/line of information for people who are willing to take up bachelors degrees in Germany.
I will be documenting my experience here (as I am in the process of applying for a bachelor's degree) and will be answering any questions that anyone may have in that regard. I also in return will be looking forward to learn more from the experiences of others
SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION
I will be applying for a Bsc in Computer Science and a Bsc in informatics as my second option. All my documents are being processed in Germany from Language school, up to Studienkolleg and the University afterwards. I will be based in Cologne (this is where I hope to have my language course done). The student advisor in charge of my application suggested I take up an offer at a University of Applied Science (UAS) rather than a traditional research university (TU) because of the availability of job opportunities for students even before graduation. The jury is still out on what I will choose (Whether TU or UAS) but for now I will go along with his advice. They will also be handling the processing of my insurance as well.
I am being sponsored and therefore do not require opening a blocked account. Currently I am in the process of getting my WAEC and other certifications I had gotten afterwards, notarized at the German Embassy in Abuja. Hope to get that done by the end of today and I will be sending it via courier with DHL (I no get strength for NIPOST and their wahala abeg... Better soup na money kill am). If all goes well today, my documents should arrived in Germany by Thursday or Friday this week as DHL promised to have it delivered in 3 days.
My Journey So Far My sponsor is an old friend of my dad and they lost touch for many years. Sadly he passed away while I was in high school. Fast forward to early this year, thanks to the power of social media (and my penchant for unnecessary research when I cant sleep) I reconnected with my dad's friend and turns out he was visiting Nigeria and Abuja was on his list. We met up and talked, asked about my plans for the future and I told him about my plans for Germany. He was really impressed when he found out I spoke a bit of German on my own (I studied online and can maintain a semblance of a basic conversation) and later said I should begin looking at study options in Germany for which he would pay for.
He recommended a Language school and I got in touch with them (and a few others in Berlin and Cologne as well), But the one my sponsor recommended were more than willing to work with me (they also have a campus in Berlin as well in case anyone is looking to go there). They offer a university pathway program for about 2600euros (incl. Language courses from A1-B1). Then studienkolleg and Universty afterwards.
I have other certifications but they are not recognised but Anabin (the directory for all things certification in Germany). So it is deemed that I have only WAEC, and this is why I have to take up studienkolleg for 2 semesters after my B1 language course (you cannot go past B1 if you are heading to Studienkollege).
If you are already in a public university or any institution recognized by National Universities Commmission (NUC) and want to transfer to Germany, you can avoid 1 year of studienkolleg by providing them with your transcripts of your time in school. With these you can apply directly to University after completing your B2 or C1 German course and taking the TestDAF exam.
So today, I will be visiting the German Embassy in Abuja and will get my documents shipped off afterwards... Its free what from what the embassy told me if you are notarizing you documents for University.... Will keep you updated
Cheers |

You mean transcripts intended for masters ba?.. Wat about 100lv Transcripts, needed for bachelor application, any high requirements? dreamchaser90: I submitted only WAEC and I don't think FSLC is necessary. As for the CGPA, Germany use a different scale of 1 to 6, where 1 is 'very good' and 6 is 'fail'. In my transcripts though, the average was in percentage, so there was no need to convert to the German scale. But you can use this link to convert yours: https://www.mspe.ei.tum.de/index.php?id=mspe_grade_converter |

Nice one man, God bless you for your time.. Take 3 gbosa lmuhopeful: I guess I can speak a little about life in Germany (at least Munich) since I've been here since October. I will make a few headings and speak about them and if anyone wants to know something specific they can ask here and not my inbox so that others will benefit:
1)Education: The study has been fantastic. I'm doing the Geophysics masters at LMU and the professors are very smart. Our math professor at the institute is just 28 years old with his PhD from France. The computing facilities are top notch and the professors have very well cited papers. Examinations are quite tough so you have to brace up when coming here and the grading is also different from Naija. To score a 1.0 here you need 95% and above. In general anything above 2.5 is considered good especially if an institute is doing high quality research.
2) Housing: This is always a big challenge especially for newcomers. Living in the center can be quite expensive but if one is lucky, you can get a cheap place in the center or even if you live out of the center, the U-Bahn and S-Bahn are there to transport you. I advise to check the distance between an apartment and your class before moving in. In any case, read your rental contract before you sign. You are normally allowed to leave an apartment with a 3-month notice. However ensure that your landlord hasn't put any clause that states that you have to stay a minimum number of months. Such a clause is known as "Kündigungsverzicht" which means termination clause. If you are lucky you can also get the Studentenwerk housing; they are cheap, with many students and there's never a dull moment. I suggest that people coming over should bring some extra money in case you have to stay in a youth hostel for a month or so.
3)Transport: The semester ticket covers transport within the city. I don't know if this applies to every single state but here in Bavaria and also in Baden-Wurttemberg it does. It costs us around 150€ and it lasts the whole semester; for example my semester ticket for this semester starts on April 1 and ends by September 30. You can ride all regular forms of transport(bus, train, tram etc) except for high speed trains like the ICE or special purpose buses or trains (you don't need those mostly anyways except you want to travel to another state or country). Also since you may have to buy this ticket once you arrive I suggest you budget some money for this.
4) Student job: It's very possible to get jobs here will studying. I don't know much about hustling but some others on this thread can help with that. However I suggest that once you get here, approach your professors to ask for a HiWi (student assistant) job. The hours are flexible and the pay is fair. Some of my classmates started HiWi's immediately and earned a lot. With a HiWi your can work and learn simultaneously. You can also ask for a job at a bar or as a Au Pair(to take care of a family's kids). In any case my personal suggestion is that don't start to hustle once you get here. The study is very intensive and the gradings are tough so it may be good to focus on the first semester and maybe start to hustle from the holidays. In this case you have to start looking for a job before exam starts so that you can start immediately after exam.
5) People: I've enjoyed every moment here and I look forward to the remaining time. People are mostly nice and are happy to show you the way. Talk to people and be nice and you'll meet many lovely people. If you drink beer then it's a nice way to meet new people. My classmates regularly organise drink nights. If you like clubs you can also enjoy here. There is hardly any violence in the clubs unlike some Naija clubs. I remember a club in Jos where the bouncer almost killed one small guy for reasons no one understood. People smoke a lot of cigarettes too and if you like the plant(erm....weed) then you can find dealers here tho it's coded since it's not allowed.
6) Food: I don't really know since I mostly eat bread, spaghetti, dodo, garri and Mensa food. The Mensa is the student canteen and you get the Mensa card to pay for your food. I don't like to cook so I can't tell you much about Naija food. If Cahnellven comes to the thread he can tell you about Naija food. Me, and Eke40seven were at his place to eat Fufu on New Year's
7) Babes: There are many tight babes here from various countries. I haven't hit any yet except for making out. If you like to cold approach women then you can get lucky. I remember cold approaching a French girl who was here on vacation but I couldn't log in coz she was returning that evening. For the babes on this thread, well, don't worry, guys will approach you(that's our job )
African people: There are many Africans here in all society levels, from workers to refugees. I visited a refugee camp and I even met Nigerians there and I wondered why there were Igbo and Yoruba refugees but e no konsyn me In general Africans often ignore each other when they walk past themselves but I think this is normal. It is part of a person's security to not smile at every African person you see simply because you are both black. Sometimes I smile and nod to African people in the train or if I think the person is responsible.
9) German Language: I suggest that you try to learn as much as possible before coming even if your study, like mine, is in English. You can live fine in big cities without German but some hustling may be impossible without German. Don't worry it's only difficult in the beginning. Die Anfänge sind in der Regel schwierig
That's all for now. If there is something else anyone wants to know I can write about it. But I can't write about the visa or application process coz I'm forgetting those gradually and perhaps few things may have changed Also I know it's not easy but try not to worry about your visa or whether the fact that your name on your birth certificate ends with 'b' and in your waec certificate it ends in 'o'. The visa guys aren't problematic as long as your docs are complete. |
Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by chinok97: 12:55pm On Apr 18, 2016 |
Lol, he might have applied as a refugee , Gcapable: This is not true, I know of 2 people that came to Berlin to start the summer semester and they got their visa in the normal 6 - 8weeks bracket. The department that attend to refugees is different from that which attend to students in the same foreigner office. Like I said to you earlier, your case was an extreme case and don't generalize with it. Congrats on your visa. |

Thank you boss for your concern, i highly appreciate. I think i sent you a mail already, or you can send to me. Already have a brother helping me here to from this thread, but i would also like to get your own form of assistance. Bethiano: I really like your initiative. I like it when people want to take their destiny serious. There is nothing wrong in seeking understanding in whatever you are doing. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong in engaging the service of another. Only, things should be done properly to achieve the desired goal.
You eat in a restaurant, not because u can't cook. However your circumstance at that time T, requires that some else cooks for you, makes it available on the road side or somewhere accessible or proximate to your working place.
So I won't join in condemning agency or consultancy.
Having said this, here is my resolve;
Simply put, its best to do it your self. At least you will learn from the process. AS a nairalander on this thread, I will advise you read at least 100- 200 pages of this thread. After wards u will be a consultant too. Lol
But if you still need assistance in the process you can contact me.
I run an edu consult for University education in Europe, the gulf countries and Asian Tiger nations.
Our charges are far below what you were charged. And you have the chance to pay only after you have admission offer.
We have a package whereby you are completely in charge of the process, and we only guide you through the process. The charge is very small. Our services on this package includes; reviewing Mletters, constructively filling your forms, school and scholarship search and get your transcripts In good time using our contacts in some universities in Nigeria (e.g UNN, Unilag, UniBen, some private uni, etc) .
This service is highly flexible. Tell us what you want us to do for you in the process and we stick to it.
Have been doing this free of charge (FOC) for people over the years, but for now, daddy status frowns at FOC packages. Lol! |

Firstly, did your ish with unilag happen after completion of 100Level? If it did not, and you don't have your transcript, then as far as Germany is concerned, your chances of schooling as an undergrad in English is almost impossible. Secondly, Good to know you're doing your own digging. Probably the agent is considering Studienkolleg for you, I'm sure you know that's exclusively taught in German, because your O'level is definitely not good enough. Finally, I see you have money Put that to good use and read this thread. I will read the bible from beginning to end for that money you wish to give away, how much more this thread...
