Barbaric law and a clear fragrant waste of the meagre resources of the state. Instead of demolishing the house, why not confiscate it and auction it. United States is far richer than Nigeria, yet it cannot waste it resource like this. |
Any person, anything animal and even anything, irrespective of its nature, type, age, religion, status, qualification, ethnicity, can be of much value than a brother, a sister a friend, father, mother, relative, church member, pastor, alfa, sheik. On this occasion a dog proved to be of much more importance than the above mentioned. I hope this helps us see beyond every form of bias and discrimination. |

Muuslims and total disregard for human life are like 5 and 6 |
If its an ibo name illogical bigots will show how sensible thy can be. Thousands of these cases occur on daily basis in the south-west, so much that there isnt any need to make a fuss about it. In other words, hundreds of clifford orjis roam the garages and roads of lagos seeking the body parts of fellow human beings. I have even lost a respected senior to ritualist. Evil is universal and does not discriminate. |
There must be collateral damage in the fight against crime, and, unless we prefer to avoid reality, we ought to know that this is inevitable. Although it is saddening to hear about such an event, the policeman in question cannot be held liable , either in tort or criminal, if, the act which caused death wasnt negligent nor intentional respectively. Having said that, i hope the family is well compensated. |
We should be very careful not to judge or point an accusing finger at anyone. Clue should be taken from the case of joseph and hamman as recorded in scriptures. In both cases, it was apparent that that both men sexually assaulted the women in question, but from a vantage point view now it is without a shadow of doubt that neither of were guilty of the allegation, hence the need for the presumption of innocence. Another thing worthy of note is the fact that setting people up on issues bordering on sexual offences is easy. For instance if a girl invites an unsuspecting married man to her home in yhe guise of needing urgent counselling or help and the man agrees to come and eventually arrives, anything she does or whtaever claims she makes on him will be accepted as truth and it will be difficult to believe the man's story. And there are a thousand more afficient ways by which a man can be framed. Conversely, it will be the same if it was the woman who came to the man's house to receive help or counselling. This suspicion, although common, is abnormal since it offends the presumption of innocence. You will better understanding what im saying when you have been accused wrongly of doing something bad. Moreover, taking a clue from her attitude and comporture at the press conference she appears to be desperate, leaving one no choice but to take her story with a pinch of salt My take on the action taken by the Apostle in taking the matter yo court is that his action is a sensible one as silence is taken in some cases as the admission of guilt. |
Is he dancing shoki because the administration have bettered the life of Nigerians, or is he an agent of poverty and suffering? |
It seems most people commenting actually dont know what is happening here at ife. Although hausas attack led to the first casualty, locals have taken the issue right of of proportion, killing innocent people. Hausas are killed in their homes, shops, along the road- anywhere and eveywhere they are found. Im hopeful that reprisal attacks will not be taken back in the North. I pray for peace. |
bettercreature:Do you ever reason or has it ever crossed your mind that it is the innocent that are killed? I hope you do. |

ItsMeAboki:The damage and loss caused by the theft of a laptop and a phone is far less than one caused by the embezzlement of public usually running into billions of naira. This, (embezzlement) is capable to affecting education, housing, infrastructural, etc programs of the state, thereby, causing huge socio-economic loss to society. On the other hand, where a man steals to survive the hardship created by these unscrupulous and covetous politicians, the full wrath of the law (if it is instituted) or the full wrath of frustrated and brainwashed people (which should be directed to the real cause of the problem) is meted upon the thief. If anyone deserves to be killed like that, it is the man who created and environment of chaos, not the man who plays the script of necessity. Until we tackle the real problem of corruption by identifying its cause, instead nursing its effects, that we can make real progress. |
I thought Oau students are is the most barbaric of so-called educated minds. Now im persuaded that we are a little less barbaric than these students. I hope the killers of the said thief are brought to book. It seems the more you have religious fanatics in an institution the more violent and barbaric it becomes. |
Oau graduates are not employable. This fact stands out. Check for Oau graduates in any institution and you will come up with personal data. It will be difficult to deny data compiled yourself |
Let her call her lawyer fast. Thats a good lawsuit. |
Best way to curb terrorism - get rid of its source. |
herzern:Whatever is the insecurity you are facing in life, you can get through it. All you have to do is to first discover the true source of your fear, and then confront it. Im certain hatred for an ethnic group is only a cover up. |
Drew0:There are many criticisms of which OAU can be subjected to; however, when one discusses about cultism and mentions OAU, only one thing can be deduced: stark ignorance, that is to say- poverty of knowledge on the issue. |
kidman96:Would you say the same if it was the national football team going out for a world cup tournament? |
Im beginning to believe that Satan is a human being. |

TheNewIbadan:It is the position of the law that a 7yrs old can be criminally responsible if it is proved that as at the time he committed the act he had the capacity to appreciate the unlawfulness or wickedness of the act. From the facts of this incident, it is evident that the act was not wickedly, in that he did not walk up to someone maliciously and shoot him. He may be negligent as to what could result from his action ( playing with a real gun), but this does prove intent to kill, since the decease was totally out of view and was only hit by accident. And it is the law that a person cannot be criminally resposible for a event which occurred by accident or for an act which occurred independently of the exercise of the will. Having said that, the boy may still be criminally responsible if, as at the time he committed the crime, it was established that he knew that his act was unlawful. Clearly, this does not apply since the act was an accident. Although he may know that killing someone deliberately is an offence, that presumption is negatived by the fact that he did not intend to kill. This said, until the case goes to court can it be clearly seen whether the boy is guilty or not. Notwithstanding, he has a presumption of law to his advantage (though rebuttable), in the words: "a child of seven or over and under twelve is incapable of committing an offence" |
The man has not been convicted and everyone is all talking about beating him, torturing him, killing him, showing no mercy to him, and the likes. Just imagine how stupi.d and dum.b ur comments would look like if eventually he is acquitted of the charges. |
TheNewIbadan:Just imagine yourself, a 7yrs old, who barely could distinguish right from wrong, shut in prison for life for just playing with a toy gun which happens to be a real ones, or if you were a father, for ur 7yrs old son to be imprisoned for the aforesaid jail term on the aforesaid circumstances. |
seanwilliam:I honestly believe it guarantees it. |
seanwilliam:Yes. The method of granting admission may be different, e.g using jamb/post-jamb aggregate+interview as the case may be, or some having both average and merit cut offs ( average for general admission but not necessarily ones choice course of study and merit for ones choice of study) e.g. Uniben, some have region based catchment (OAU, UNILAG, UNIZIK, etc) whereas some have nationwide catchoment ( e.g. UI). Nonetheless, this methods always follow three major guidelines for granting admission into their institutions, which is 1. merit, 2. catchment and 3. educationally less developed states considerations. Admission through merit list need not be emphasised because it is totally hitch free. Catchment and educationally less developed states considerations are cut off marks a little lower and much more lower than merit cut off marks respectively, and distributed either regionally or nationally. Based on personal inquiry into how admission is given students on both considerations, I think they are reliable. I don't know a single person who met both cut off marks and was denied, provided that that person has all the requirements required by the school authorities. All these info only applies to federal universities, and I don't know how things operate in state universities and polytechnics. |
seanwilliam:Obafemi Awolowo University. |
seanwilliam:People always hide the real reason they were not admitted. Unless u confirm his jamb, post ume scores and the aggregate against the cut-off mark for the said course of study, don't believe anything like "somebody merited the admission but wasn't admitted ", because it's pure garbage. Such statements make people who ought to be serious minded students lose faith in the education system and instead settle for short-cuts, such as bribing their way into school, and thus, making them unprepared for the herculean task in the university. The truth is that when one merits an admission he gets it unconditionally. The only thing that can go wrong is that the said person may not have the required subject combination or O'level requirements which may be detrimental to his being admitted. That notwithstanding, some schools waive this deficiencies either by granting such person admission outrightly or by allowing him to change his course of study to one which suitable to his O'level requirement (the second is the most likely situation) . |
irunoobo:Stop this defensive attitude towards success. You mean people who changed the world did not finish the best or were among the best. Name them? Name average graduates that contributed substantially to global development, whether in technology, science, arts, business, or whatever? |
Toks2008:You are the one undoubtedly that has the holy than thou personality |

people that changed the world with inventions and innovations did not graduate in school nor finish as best student yet their impact is felt worldwide. His academic success is driven by hunger. Hunger to finish school, get a good job and start earning salaries. RUbbish
