Correct. Do you happen to know or have heard abovt a certain 'Iroko'?

MeinKampf:
Cultism was rife in Ibadan in early 2000s and Ibadan Poly became the hotbed that various cultists from other neighboring schools like Esa Oke, Ire and others started crossing over to Poly Ibadan so as to reinforce their various cult groups. It was the days of Innocent, Evans and the rest of them. Legend has it that Evans used to command guns from nowhere when matters sup. Those guys turned Poly Ibadan especially South campus and "Across" to a nightmare for people where they would be having an open jolly at the South campus security gate house. I think people lost interest in cultism due to popularity of Yahoo Yahoo. Though it's resurging on a low-key around areas like Apete, Agbowo, Sango and Eleyele. With the killings and reprisal of a guy called Yahyah and subsequently a barber around Apete

You're not obliged to point out lessons for the young people reading to learn from. Neither am I. Neither is the OP, Neither are the contributors, who share stories that you have been reveling in with glee likening it to a season film. Pls lets show some respect to the dead & their families.

These ideals you are so proud of & preach were imparted on you by others. You were not born with it. Now its your turn to impart others, you say you're not obliged to.

If the people who imparted on you had same mentality as you do now, you could have ended up worse than these boys. Most are not born bad, its just lack of proper guidance.

'I'm not obliged to...' 'e no concern me' is how our society & Nigeria is in the mess that it is.

I just hope you can have a change of heart & be a more responsible & productive member of society.

Great story GreenArrow1 you write pretty well. Sparrow had to go it seemed. The death has the hands of his own men all over it but the face of another group.

It would seem like when cult activities began to nosedive in Lagos, Ibadan etc. it picked up in Makurdi. I think maybe a lot of marked men here then moved up there to hide head but found a fertile ground for their activities.

You're so right. My friend's grouse was how they'd take a word or phrase thats been before their founding fathers were born as theirs. Makes no sense.

I wasnt suprised though. I see the average cultist as an unstable person no matter how good looking or well to do until they prove not to be.

Thanks for your concern.

Wanted to post this 3 weeks ago, it kept escaping me. An old buddy invited me to his lounge in the outskirts of Lagos.

Back in the days when we used to drink together, we called bars - temple or shrine. So as we were exchanging banters, I said loudly - 'I'm finally in your temple".

I saw the attention of 3 young men rest on me. When it was time to sit, my host picked the best sit in the lounge - near the guys.

Host later left to attend to clients. I & the friend who was with me were seeing a game & analysing it, then one of the guys said, 'bros you're right. E be like you be striker, you dey play 7'. My gaze moved to him & he caught it, I looked away.

Later my friend used a word & they picked on it. They started their usual checking, I told them to leave us alone, we were jews. This infuriated them, local man didnt give any fvcks.

Then one came to our table but my host noticed, came over & ended it. He knew them.

My friend understandably was livid all the way back. I had put him on this thread.

There's this fad on the thread thats becoming popular & if care is not taken might derail the thread eventually.

"I'm entitled to my opinion"

Of course you are, freedom of speech/expression is your right. However like every other right, there is a limit. That is why crimes like libel, defamation etc exist.

You come on a thread that clearly says SAY NO TO CULTISM to hype or subtly promote cultism in part or wholly. Dropping content which is at variance to the goal of the thread and when you're clamped on, you scream 'my opinion'?

Another set are the atheists. This post is not a religious one but its hard for any sensible mind to detach juju/voodoo from cultism. They go hand in hand so please leave the narrators alone. The constant harassment in the name of being an atheist, unbeliever is distorting the thread.

I see you're into tech & Rubicon your company is not even a year old. You're doing great but in the real sequence of things, you're an ant. However, thats not why we are here.

I'm not interested in a hair on your head but some others may not be so gracious. Focus on your life goals & stay out of trouble, you dolt.

There's a dunce somewhere on this thread. Trying to equate christianity & cultism. If I'm told & never read it myself, I'ld never believe such a wimp exists. He has refused to stand corrected despite efforts of good people of the thread.

There's a handful of them here, they want to change the narrative of the thread, pls be wary of them.

Sad is that these lots are uni graduates. It hurts even more as there are many who would have made great use of a uni education to better themselves & society but it had to go to these lots.

To fight the menace of cultism, at the extent that it is in our society; as much important as the work that this thread does is, there's still discussions to be had.

I want to encourage everyone, cultist or not to air their opinion(s) but keep it civil and be genuinely willing to stand corrected & bow to superior argument. We know some minds are cast in stone but we'll continue to try for the others.

This thread was about cold until recently when the HIT stories came up again but every story will end. In the absence of such stories the discussions must continue.

This thread is in need of voices. A lot of you have fascinating angles to issues & bright ideas. Speak up so others can learn & be better thats how you create an impact.

If you post something & the replies/reaction makes you feel stupid its okay. No one is right or sensible all the time. Learn from it, hold no grudges, be free, you'll be better.

You gave your word, as a sacrifice to the thread and couldnt keep it. You're not just a cult apologist, you are unprincipled & lack integrity.

I'll wont only criticize you, now I'll show you how its done. Bye Prof.

ProfAmaben:
Wow! So out of place. Really uncalled for. I see no difference between you and the cultists you so detest. You love oppression and I can smell it from miles away. Look around you, advise the cultists you know there and leave me alone. Let's not derail this thread. I don't support any cult groups neither do I like cultists, I only said they would have been nice without the violence and killings.
Young Man, if you feel this is not enough and you want to beat me or intimidate me, all my details are on nairaland, track me down please, I am begging you.

First it was IQ now its 'Pull him down mentality'

Pull you down from where? You think this is a biggest dick contest? My friend take several seats, you're so empty. I detest empties.

Mention one impact on society of Soyinka's cult that you're hyping, all of a sudden you have the interest of the thread at heart.

Smh.

Are you aware that in the same 50s or there about someone held a broadcasting station hostage armed with a berreta? While you're enjoying your evening, find out who it was.

ProfAmaben:
You've shot yourself in the legs, it basically means that you didn't understand what I said earlier cos of your pull him down mentality.

I won't reply your rants again for the progress of this thread, it's a personal sacrifice I would make.

Enjoy your day.

Your intentions are becoming clear.

I'm also entitled to my opinion which says your opinion is sh.it. So why are you mad?

Mr. Prof, mention one significant achievement or impact of Soyinka's cult on society before it was taken over as per your story.

Intentions & reality may differ. Like I may intend that you to 'have sense' & you could die without having it.

ProfAmaben:
You are nobody to tell me what to do. I made an observation on groups and I'm solely entitled to my opinion. Do you buy data for me? Do you feed anyone here?

Soyinka in the 1950's formed Pyrates confraternity which was a group only meant for the extremely brilliant and gifted students, this was later hijacked by blood sucking demons such as Bolaji Carew and co. Does that make the intention on forming confraternities bad? NO!

Nairaland has to start weeding off people with low IQ that can't read 5 sentences without becoming confused.

Don't let us detail this wonderful thread.

Stop the 'IFs' when the subject touches on reality & a sensitive topic as this. Dont be creating scenarios that dont exist. We're not playing or dreaming here.

By saying "If Kingsley didnt look for trouble he'll still be alive" You're subtly passing a message that cultists who dont look for trouble dont get killed which is VERY WRONG.

You dont have to say a thing if you dont have anything to say.

ProfAmaben:
Kindly reread my post. You probably only read the part that interest you.
Crime › Re: My Story As A Cult Member........initiation Phase Included... by Chris525: 2:36pm On Jul 24, 2020
"If Kingsley didnt look for trouble he would still be alive"

Reallyhuh So you didnt read about Andrew. The innocent boy shot outside his hostel less than a week after he joined for something he had no clue abouthuh

During HIT, cults just kill rival members. They dont care if you're good or never slapped anyone in your life. There's a story about a cultist fellowship pastor here, he was killed.

Cultism would be fun without its vices & evils?? Yeah so would armed robbery, kidnapping etc. but they're no fun thats why we are here.

ProfAmaben:
Even me wey no be cultist don dey ginger. Being in a group makes killing seem like fun. If Kingsley didn't look for trouble, he would still be alive today.
If all these cults were not violent, many would have joined. In my school days, I joined Man o war cos I loved group activities, it was fun at Shere hills with military men giving you training.

NBM, SEC, SVC etc would have been fun minus the HIT, killings and rape.

He seems to have a well paying job & you are doing great. You guys can plan to visit a new country every year or two instead of packing things up here to go & settle in one.

Though he always had the plan but situation has also changed. Its clear what your choice should be since he's already picked abroad over you but dont be like him - selfish.

Talk to him & speak to people he listens to so he can consider. I cant tell you what to do if that fails, its your decision to make.

This is interesting stuff back to back but if you're a teenager or young adult reading this only for the entertainment, you're playing yourself.

This is the reality you live in in most uni, big city or town in southern Nigeria.

Like a dream you could wake up one morning & you're any of the characters in that story. Someone is probably planning to lure you into the game without your consent subtly or forcefully. Be wary of the friends you keep and the signals they send. The OT/lingua has been laid bare for you.

A lot of you move with cultists. You have them as weed, drinks, drugs & gambling partners. You're always in company of one. I feel sorry for you.

Maybe cultists dont kill JUs but there are a lot of evil committed where its important not to leave a witness.
Like Charlesgold said, most cultists are not good shooters. You sitting beside the target, you can be hit - think about your mom. There's police raid & a lot of other dangers.

The aim of this thread is to make you wiser, please be wise.

We know things are shitty but never lose hope. Anytime there's an opportunity please key in.

NIRSAL became overwhelmed with applications, they have stopped taking new ones for now I heard. Alot of people got the money but you know Nigerians, they'll never tell but rather keep it a secret for their families & loved ones.

Always read the terms before you apply. The loans are usually repayable, NIRSAL repayment is from september, I think. Most people got the loans & think its free or dash. They got phones, smart TVs & clothes with the money. They'll be here soon to lament & abuse govt.

If you have a solid business idea, get yourself ready & key into any of these programs whenever they come along. Best wishes.
