Another one. We don't need a charge controller. We connect the panels directly to the battery

It is in her past. I have read enough stories of men including Police men who married former prostitutes and they got some of the most loyal wives one can ever ask for. Let sleeping dogs lie. I am sure when the time is right she will tell your brother herself. Be welcoming. |
victorels:Thank you for your contribution. That is also another school of thought to discuss. |
victorels:Thank you for contributing. I will add that to the list too. The tariffs are scheduled to increase. How would you compensate for the higher bills to charge your inverter batteries? The sun is free. Just asking |
I have been having some exciting exchanges with some experts in solar. We have been trying to determine how they calculate the size of the inverter, the battery bank and the size of the PV. I have heard 4 batteries 4 panels. I have heard inverters catch on fire I have heard 3 kw in panels is too much for 4 batteries. (irrespective of the size) I have heard you can't run AC on Solar I have heard the system voltage has no bearing in calculating the battery bank or array size. I have heard 4 200 AH batteries equal 800 AH. It does not matter if it is 12, 24 or 48 Volts. I have heard panels are installed facing the east. (hint: the solstices and equinox) I have heard I can installs panels under a tree or an obstruction. I have heard. Solar does not work when it rains or when it is cloudy I have heard solar does not carry Microwave or AC. I have heard that PWM controllers work very well on huge installations. We have seen 3 kw in panels with a 20 amp controller I have heard we tell the customer the inverter size. If he wants to pump water, use his fridge, freezer, microwave and maybe run one AC 10 kva with 8 batteries. What matters most is the size of the inverter capacity and the battery. You only need enough solar panel to charge the number of batteries. Please add your misconceptions and we will take them apart daily one topic at a time. Solar will work better if we all understand how professionals arrive at calculations

Konnektions146:Thank you |
Konnektions146:Can you post a picture please |
pointstores:The fuse or breaker is between the inverter and the battery bank.
|
Importance of fuse and breakers. Today I plugged in an electrical kettle and our lights went out. The wires were warm to the touch and the fuse had burnt. The microwave and iron did not burn my fuse but the electrical kettle did. It drew the batteries from 26 V to 23 Volts. You can imagine the amp draw on the system. Can you imagine what would have happened if I did not have the fuse between the batteries and the inverter? Fuses are cheap. Your life is way to valuable to risk your installation to an amateur.

collinsVP:Ghana has 12 hours on 24 hours off. Ghana is not an apt comparison. |
Barezzi:What is a price quote based on? Have they seen where the installation will be done? Have they done a load analysis? |
targus:Hello Alex how many hours a day do you intend to use each appliance. |
iykmon:What are you looking to accomplish? 2 V 6 V are you best bets. Flooded is my first choice and an AGM my second. Brands that I buy Trojan Hoppecke. I was told by my US distributor to look at Fullriver. If you have coins Rolls Surrette. |
When did Geometric start to do work in Brazil. Lazy reporting or an attempt to deceive? |
JUO:What is the system voltage? Remember that during the bulk and absorb stage your batteries will see over 29 volts. 29 * 20 = 580 watts. (assumption is based on 24 volts) |
seyekan:Look to the manual that came with the battery. The number varies depending on the battery |
Nepa has been delivering between 98 and 287 volts. Our system continues to produce 230 v. This is why it pays to buy quality. There is no stabilizer in the house.

Sveen:I am looking at the picture I don't see anyone getting pushed. He is too far away from the dinghy and is standing. The image is not representative of a person that was pushed. |
JustKeen:Bank could actually start to lend money to businesses. They have been going after the cheap and easy money. Those items don't grown the economy. |
The government has played an out sized role in the economy of Nigeria. This has stifled growth and creativity on the part of our banks. The new regime's tightening of monetary policy and controlling liquidity is welcome. The private sector and not government should be the driver of growth. |
Looks like very good quality work. Might be cheaper to do this than repaint our old car |
I wrote a piece on LinkedIn titled quality vs price. People always look at price first but in the long run that cheap item costs you three times more. Happy reading. Quality Vs Price; which matters more? Thirteen years ago, I purchased a Mercedes Benz ML320. At the time it was a combination of the need to impress my clients and a flight to quality. I would still be driving the car today if not for an accident that forced the insurance company to declare it a total loss. It had about 250,000 miles on the odometer. It never left me stranded and outside of routine service it had no problems. I have been driving around in a 2007 Chevy Cobalt and the build quality is poor, the ownership experience is lacking and as an appliance it is not really that good. There are constant service and repair issues that need to be addressed. Trim pieces fall off every month, the steering rack might need to be replaced and the check engine light has a mind of it own. We compete in a Nigerian solar market where no real standards have been established. Customers have yet to develop a strong brand following. In the Inverter market, you have brands manufactured by Chinese and Indian companies. The Europeans have yet to establish a foothold in the Nigerian market. The Chinese and Indian inverters hold a price advantage that appeals to most Nigerians. They can participate in solar or back up power at a fraction of the established market costs. The downside is equipment that does not perform. The chargers are grossly inadequate, they don't have enough cooling and the power and surge ratings on some are bogus. The effect of poor quality inverters are: Premature replacement of batteries Inverters that trip when an inductive load is added to them. Inverters that over heat, fail or catch on fire. You saved money up front but you are buying expensive batteries every year and you risk burning down your house. Spend the money upfront. A good quality should have good cooling ability, a strong charger (60 amps+) ,very good surge ratings and a good warranty and support. Spend the money upfront and get years of reliable trouble free from your inverters https://www./quality-vs-price-which-matters-more-christopher-onwuasoanya |
A few days ago I put up a post saying that Lithium Phosphate or Lithium Ion batteries would be technology of choice in Nigeria within the next 24 months. Even though your upfront cost might be higher you actual cost is lower. You can go below a 90% SOC. On your traditional batteries you are only allowed to go down to 50% if you don't want to ruin the batteries. They have longer cycles. (number of time you can charge and discharge them) Up to 3000 vs 1200 for your regular sealed gel batteries. We hope to have some to test before the end of the year and we will report our experiences to you. |
bodejohn:Bros in North America the voltage for three phase varies. For light industrial 120/208 and fother industrial applications 277/480. It is up to 600 volts for even larger applications. We very rarely see 230 v. Our central air conditioning and clothes dryers might run 240V. |
dezo:Your air compressors have three individual 230 V lines coming in? I got a call from someone telling me that all 3 phases in Nigeria are 230 each. My apologies |
dezo:Your air compressors have three individual 230 V lines coming in? |
Pavore9:I did not argue with him. I have all the little certificates that they issued. It is not unique to Lagos. |
dezo:I have not done it yet. The instruction manuals that come with it are very easy to follow. Why do you want to connect three phase? Three phase in the US is 480 V not 220/230. Make sure that is what you are trying to accomplish |
A new page was started on Facebook. It is called Nigeria Solar Energy. You might want to visit and contribute your skills to the group. |
