Get off your high horse dude. The Vietnamese Army and Vietcong battled against and overcame the might of the American Army, while you're here beating your chest because your ancestors were playing hide and seek with the brits grin

I have more respect for Ashanti and Zulu armies that faced British soldiers head on in battle with lesser weapons and sometimes won.

jl115:
my bru the Boere invented modern guerrilla tactics.... The fvcking word commando is an Afrikaans word now recognised worldwide and used synonymously with elite forces around the world..... While the Kalenjin still used sticks and stones to fight wars, the Boere took on half a million British troops that out numbered them 15-1 and beat them black and blue in 2 wars.

"Give me 20 divisions American soldiers and I will breach Europe. Give me 15 consisting of Englishmen, and I will advance to the borders of Berlin. Give me two divisions of those marvellous fighting Boers and I will remove Germany from the face of the earth." "

- Field Marshall B L Montgomery

"The Americans fight for a free world, the English mostly for honor and glory and medals, the French and Canadians decide too late that they have to participate. The Italians are too scared to fight; the Russians have no choice. The Germans for the Fatherland. The Boers? Those sons of bitches fight for the hell of it."

-American General, George Patton

"Take a community of Dutchmen of the type of those who defended themselves for fifty years against all the power of Spain at a time when Spain was the greatest power in the world. Intermix with them a strain of those inflexible French Huguenots, who gave up their name and left their country forever at the time of the revocation of the Edict of Nantes . The product must obviously be one of the most rugged, virile, unconquerable races ever seen upon the face of the earth. Take these formidable people and train them for seven generations in constant warfare against savage men and ferocious beasts, in circumstances in which no weakling could survive; place them so that they acquire skill with weapons and in horsemanship, give them a country which is eminently suited to the tactics of the huntsman, the marksman and the rider. Then, finally, put a fine temper upon their military qualities by a dour fatalistic Old Testament religion and an ardent and consuming patriotism. Combine all these qualities and all these impulses in one individual and you have the modern White Boer."

-Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

I didn't say anything about your people, so don't come here and think you can talk down to mine my bru wink especially when history clearly shows otherwise

The bold is why I think he might struggle a bit. EPL defenders don't like pace, which unfortunately puts Awoniyi at a disadvantage.

I think he will need time to get used to the EPL but will Forest be patient? Especially if there are not getting desired results?

On the plus side Nottingham plays a 2-man attack system which should suit Taiwo.

Yes if he can get 10 goals it will be good season.

Chief I see you still managed to sneak in your EPL agenda against Bundesliga while forgetting how Dennis, a German league reject did well in England grin

komekn:
The terms of reference are different as well as expectations for midfielders and forward players in the case of Awoniyi number 9 striker.

I don't see Awoniyi being adaptable to play on the wing it's striker or nothing. If I am right he is the most expensive acquisition for Nottingham Forest.

As a result expectations will be very high, he is a major focal point. They will expect goals, if he can score 10 he would have done very well IMO

But this is the EPL more physical and a lot faster than the Bundisliga. Very few players if any can replicate Thier goals tally from the Bundisliga in the EPL.

Aribo has a different set of expectations he is not a stand out player for Southampton and is more adaptable to multiple positions. In this regard Aribo will have an easier time. Expectations are not high.

Awoniyi has a much greater challenge to prove himself or get benched very quickly.

As much as there is poverty in the land I agree that it's ridiculous that our tax rate is so low.

If countries like Togo, Benin and Kenya with huge poverty numbers can still pay tax then there's no reason why we shouldn't be doing better. I think another reason is tax avoidance. How many people in the tax net pay their tax? I'm not even sure up to 40% pay their dues.

That said there's the issue of double taxation. Businesses paying all sorts of dues that don't get captured in government revenue (that's if it doesn't get diverted).

I don't know if there are any experts in the real estate space, but I read somewhere that if the land use act can be reformed it can be a game changer revenue wise for Nigeria.

Illimitable:
Data reveals your countrymen’s tax contributions to their GDP is only 6% - the lowest in Africa.

You can twist it, turn it, twirl that information anyhow you like, the fact reveals your countrymen are largely irresponsible.

OECD(EU) countries make 34% tax contributions to their GDP, LAC(Latin America/Caribbean) countries make 23.1% tax contributions to their GDP.

Your country is a pathetic 6% and you are blaming the government for taxing people too much already. What that tells me is that - about 85% of the Nigerian population are useless and unproductive.

How then do you expect the government to execute big projects, build good roads, invest in infrastructure, et cetera? Where should they get the money from? Should the CBN print money to bridge the gap of the useless people in Nigeria or what do you suggest?

It’s funny to me how Nigerian citizens can admire and love how things run in developed countries but they avoid the responsibility that the citizens of developed countries undertake. The world bank’s threshold is 15% and yet Nigeria(with 200m population) are way short of the minimum to eradicate poverty.

Nigeria is fücked!

My overall assessment of the SF at the WAFCON is loads of talented players but poor coaching. I was a bit hesitant before, but after watching our performances not just in this tournament but other games we've played under Waldrum I don't think he's the right one for the team. Apart from the inability to pick out any discernible pattern I haven't detected any area in which the team has improved under him whether in defense, attack or midfield.

I would have been less critical if we didn't have any good players compared to others at the WAFCON but in most of the games I've watched I thought our level was a notch higher but the coaching left a lot to be desired.

Top women for Nigeria in this competition were Ajibade, Payne, Ucheibe, Ashleigh, Okobi and Ohale for me. Onomunu, Alozie, Ayinde and Nnadozie also tried but they need to work on their inconsistencies. Ordega really falled my hand even though I like her a lot. Onome has been a great servantb but age is beginning to tell. Monday Gift and Uchenna are ones for the future.

Don't know if much can still be salvaged for the future maybe a combination of Omagbemi and Devbebo could do the trick.

Huge blow no doubt this will seriously ginger the Atiku camp. The people I don't why understand they are celebrating are the awon obidients. Despite your man showing up LP still scored dismal votes. The only place Obi will get significant votes are SE and Lagos. Northern Christian electorate would rather back Atiku that has massive structure to beat APC than Obi that they have barely had interactions with outside campaigns and politics.

If the motivation of LP members is to oust the ruling party at national level then they had better start realistically looking at PDP.

Although I still have a sneaky feeling a week to election next year Obi will drop for Atiku.

Tribalism happens everywhere in the world.

When Obama contested for the US presidency almost all black folk backed him regardless of whether they understood his campaign manifesto or not.

Every candidate worth his salt will always need backing of his ethnic base it's normal, but appealing to people across the divided will determine if you are a sectional candidate or potential president.

Emmynator:
It will be funny if Obi gets 80% of SE votes, and anyone still accuses the north of tribalism in terms of voting. I was shocked that when yoruba actors declared support for Tinubu, people were crying tribalism, but if it is an Igbo star declaring support for PO, it is competence, I think it's double standards. it is just convenient, that obidients can use competence to cover the tribal elements of Obi's candidacy.
I don't think tribalism is a bad thing per se, some people's sense of identity starts on a tribal level, so it is easier to trust and identify with someone who is from your tribe.
Call it a flaw of democracy as practiced in Africa if you must, only a few below 20% of the population vote for no sentimental reasons and can fall into the category of educated voters.

I can still accept the corruption part of her speech because it’s a reality we are dealing with but lying that Nigeria is practicing socialism that is sending millions to poverty and broken dreams is crassly ridiculous. It is the height of lamba.

This also goes to show that politicians are all lying scoundrels all over the world. They can say anything no matter how ridiculous and unnecessary to win election.

In Nigeria, a certain presidential candidate while addressing issues concerning physically challenged people told his audience that the best advice he got while serving as governor was from a mad man just to appeal to the physically challenged.

It is all politics and nothing else. However, she should be more circumspect next time. Using Nigeria for political clout doesn’t appear like something well thought out. Rishi Sunak and other aspirants with similar background like her did not use their country of birth for clout like her.

Ashleigh has been our best player so far. Ordega and Ajibade haven't really clicked yet.

Midfield to attack has been disjointed no clear pattern.

Defense has held firm and been solid.

Attack needs to be seriously tweaked. The Cameroonians are for the taking but the coach needs to earn smart up and do the needful.
